Hi, we arrived here just before New Year and still have no school placement in Richmond/Petersham area. My daughter is supposed to be 1/2 way through year 2, and I'm nervous she will be very behind. We are doing some home schooling but I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a tutor, as we are not teachers!!!

Do you mean no school placement as in none at all offered?
Or no school placement as in something's been offered but you turned it down?

Are you in an area where you can apply for a year 3 place ie where some schools split infant and junior? If so, have you applied? It shouldn't harm your chances on any waiting lists etc.

Others will be along with better advice but the local authority HAVE to offer you a place even if that means going over pan. You need to be on to them persistently to fulfil their obligations.

If you have been offered but are waiting it out for your preferred location I can recommend laidlaw agency in sheen, which is v near you. They have individual and class options for those not in regular school. Check out their website or call sue laidlaw for advice.
