Primary School applications - other reasons to support your application

Hi
Our online application has a section in which we can include other reasons to support our application to our preferred primary school. I have already ticked the boxes that show are reason being 1) faith school - Roman Catholic 2) we believe we are in the catchment area and 3) distance from home to school. Do people usually complete the 'other reasons' section and if so what sort of things would you include?

It's only useful if you are including/signposting information which is relevant to the application. So stating 'documents supporting the need for a place on medical grounds have been sent to Admissions by recorded delivery on (date)' would make it very clear that those documents exist and were submitted on time.

Or perhaps: our elder DC was placed in this school as it was th only one with a vacancy when we moved. I am sending a copy of your email (date) which states that the higher sibling priority applies even though we live outside the catchment.

Oh, and Arscal do remember (as it's a faith school) to send your SIF to the right person and on time. (Sorry if that's stating the blatantly obvious!)

Agree with AuntieStella. If you have evidence that places your child in a higher admission category you need to mention it unless there is space elsewhere on the form. Otherwise nothing you put here, no matter how heartfelt, will make any difference. They aren't allowed to make subjective judgements about the strength of your reasons for wanting a school.

Thanks for the replies, that's helpful. I thought that would be the case but didn't want to leave it blank if everyone else puts an essay in there! Smile
