Hi Mumsnetters

Relocating to Worcester from London and needing school for a Summer term start for year 3 DD. Looking for independent school. DD has dyspraxia and auditory processing problems. Socially awkward but in mainstream school and doing okay with the help of the special needs department. Trying to create a priority list for our next visit. Can anybody suggest any schools or know of kids with similar issues and where they are at school?

Bredon School is brilliant for children with dyspraxia, and a lovely place too.

Thanks, I'll go and have a look. Is there any school in the centre of Worcester with a good special needs department or teacher? Just thinking of the daily school run and work.

Abberley is well-regarded

Thanks. I've just been looking at Abberley's website. It looks a nice place. Do you know what Springfield is like for special needs as it looks to be quite a small place?

The independent preps in Worcester are Kings (St Albans by the cathedral, Hawford on the north edge of town), and RGS (Springfield centrally, The Grange on the north edge).
I don't think that any of these would really work for a child with identified issues already, though I don't know for sure obv.

Thanks. That was what I was wondering myself. Some normal independent schools do offer support for special needs but you will have a better feel for the schools than me surfing the net.

Springfield has good SEN and a lovely small caring atmosphere. Think they have an open day early Nov.

RGS The Grange has places available for September if anyone has been disappointed this week.

Hi ,

Hope you don't mind me asking where you decided on for a private special school in Worcester in the end? My little boy is currently in reception and has been diagnosed with Dyspraxia and difficulties also seem to be indicative of ADHD. We are considering taking my son out of the mainstream education system and looking at the private route...wondered what your experience had been?

Best wishes
