Yes, i have no life! And we are lucky in that all the schools near us seem pretty good, but I'm still itching to know if we got our first choice. nerdy.

The national offer day for all of England is 16th April so you will find out on Wednesday.

Minshu · 11/04/2014 20:18

Or, if you have been allocated a place at a school with an incompetent office, you may have come home to find a letter bearing the bad news yesterday Hmm

Winstonrocked · 11/04/2014 21:12

I'm not excited. I'm damn scared. (SE London ??)
That's if we get a place actually on the list.

doodledotmum · 11/04/2014 23:07

Just want the wait to be over.

Monkeyandanimal · 12/04/2014 07:19

Oh, sorry, hit a nerve there! I am excited about DS starting school though.

Minshu how disappointing to get a bad news letter. Will you try the waiting lists?

Monkey I'm also excited, but in a nervous. My DD is already in YR but we have applied for Y1 of a new free school.

I do know that for some people the whole processes is just horribly stressful.

But, for all of you waiting, I knew a few people last year who didn't get the places that they wanted. One is in a school in which two unexpected bulge classes were added. Both schools are 'satisfactory', and both parents are actually really pleased with the teachers and how the schools are doing. So, it is a worrying and scary time, but the outcomes can sometimes be better than expected even when you get the last or no choice options.

ratqueen · 12/04/2014 09:43

minshu how awful!

I am ridiculously nervous having ballsed up our application by putting the wrong school. Not looking forward to opening the email and wishing I had put DH's email address!

3asAbird · 12/04/2014 22:19

Im really worried and played on my mind for weeks and as admissions dates changed recent years as eldest was march 1st keep getting asked all time for last month now.

I was worried when we put application in.

option 1-out catchment but elder sibling there counts for nothing with my lea.

option 2 new free school miles away 30 places lottery

option 3 infants kind of liked but far away from address at time o aplying we since moved 10mins away school 3 but couldent change address without being late admissions.

the 3 nearest schools to new address not including option 3 is

2 very oversubcribed so doubt they have vacancies.
1 big one by my house on my avoid list.

trying be optimistic about option 4 always undersubcribed so dident put it down was fall back but latest newsletter had some thing about swearing in playground and still has no flipping ofsted as was failing and turned into academy.

im less half mile from diffrent lea so could chance it with thier schools but suspect the good ones be taken.
I could end up with no school happens here

my plan stock up on booze and tissues.

Can't wait for Weds to come and be over !.. every one I know is in bits!

PeppermintLatte · 14/04/2014 20:27

Am I correct in thinking we get an email at midnight tomorrow night, so it's therefore Wednesday morning? I'm staying up for the email

whatcolour · 14/04/2014 20:29

I think it depends on LEA. Ours just says on 16th. I think in some areas you can log onto the system.

YoHoHoandabottleofWine · 14/04/2014 21:47

Peppermint someone told me they got an email at about 9am last year.

Why is this thread so quiet? I'm sure there was mass hysteria on MN this time last year? Maybe it is a year of tiny birthrate??

I am dreading it, very low chance of getting first choice school despite it being a 1 min walk away (church), quite likely going to be allocated 3rd choice which has the worst KS2 results in the county (true fact, not being overly dramatic).

Sirzy · 14/04/2014 21:52

Lancashire are updating their website at 6pm Wednesday and posting a letter out 2nd class on Wednesday. They are already warning the website is going to be busy!

hotcrosshunny · 14/04/2014 22:08

I'm scared! I live in a london borough where one school was so oversubscribed and only 10 kids got in who weren't siblings or SEN. my nearest school is a ten minutes walk and we've not a chance. We're in a black hole for schools

PeppermintLatte · 14/04/2014 22:10

an email at 9am? NO!!! i need to know sooner than that!

the online application i done, i just logged back on and it says it will be posted there on 16th april at 00.00.00, assuming that's midnight?

dreading it. heart set on one school in particular, i have gone above and beyond to get her in that school and my heart will break if she doesn't get in.

rather than keep on refreshing my emails, i will just log into the online system at midnight tomorrow and hope for the best. good luck guys. post here and let me know what you get.

whatcolour · 14/04/2014 22:11

Anyone know about Manchester ?

PartyConfused · 14/04/2014 22:14

Here, if you made on online application, you get an email tuesday after 3.30pm!
So it will be over for us tomorrow.

Good luck Confused

YoHoHoandabottleofWine · 14/04/2014 22:14

must be different way of communicating it different LEAs. Good luck everyone!

YoHoHoandabottleofWine · 14/04/2014 22:15

Tuesday??? That's not fair!

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 14/04/2014 22:22

Going to join in with the nail biting and F5ing that will be going on from late evening tomorrow. I can't believe it's that time now, it seemed so long to wait when we made the application!

ooh, mine says:

"On 16/04/2014 00:00:00, your school place offer will be communicated to you by email."

So I guess I'll know by midnight tomorrow.

The madness at ours will start in earnest at our school next week when people start reporting 'cheats' they think got in ahead of them. Last year other parents in thr school nursery had their eye on one family - who got a place then oops they lost it ...

zgaze · 14/04/2014 23:00

SE London borough here too, will be interested to see which one we get - closest one 28 of the 30 places went to siblings last year! But I don't actually care, what I know and the admissions people don't is that we're moving in a couple of months, far far away...
