Nerf Gun, Lego, football shirt and tickets to a football match.

These are the gifts from us (parents) and grandparents. He'll get little things like books, DVDs from Aunts and Uncles.

Last year we got a den making kit, walkie talkies (shared with sibling) and Lego.

DS2 is 9. So far I have bought Lego, the new David Walliams book and a Lego Harry Potter DS game. I have also seen Doctor Who Top Trumps which he will love.

That's the one. He also fancies the new Wimpy Kid book but I am buying that for DS1 (who is 11) then when they have read them they can swap.

We made our own up with tarp, netting, rope, some tent pegs and mallet. Also managed some 'camo' face paint.

Put it in a army surplus rucksack. M

I think they sell some on notonthehighstreet.com though.

We did get proper walkie talkies- not toy ones, these ones but paid less for them.

That den building kit on nthst is fantastic! What a great idea!! I'm so nicking it as a more fun alternative to the prerequisite new Skylanders game.

So far he's asked for a Nerf gun, Lego batman set and Lego batman 2 Wii game.

I'll also get him some CD' s and possibly a disco ball to add to his lights as he loves having a disco in his bedroom!!

Oh and a load of books as he loves anything about natural history, WW II and sharks.

He got a subscription to Nat Geographic kids magazine last year which has been a real winner - nice to have a present every month!

Hi hulahoopsilove:

Have DDs myself - but we sent my 9 year-old nephew & my brother jointly a LEGO video game for them to play together and both have said how much they've enjoyed it. We're repeating it this year with a new one (but mainly because they've been heavily hinting to us how nice that would be).

HTH

Im thinking we will get them an ipad each this year. They are 6 and 8. Our new neighbours have them and they are a huge hit with mine.

They don't have ds or wii or xbox or anything, so this would be the year we buy them a games console. With an ipad we wont have to spend £30 per game though.

Lots of books and some lego I think. Am waiting to see if he comes up with any ideas.

Tesco Hudl and Real Madrid kit from GPs.

New bedroom makeover with our old TV to link XBox up to from us, as well as Fifa 14 on XBox and some War Hammer figures.

Scooter, more warhammer and book of records 2014 from 'Santa'.

Other years he has had Lego, football stuff, remote controlled helicopter, XBox games, Hot wheels tracks, a remote controlled car that works from his IPod and and IPod!

You're very lucky your DS doesn't know what he wants OP, my FS always has a huge list and we have to just pick a couple of things! Then the other things get relegated to the birthday list!
