Best fictional creatures

Please help a teacher stuck in a rut.

I'd like to rename my reading groups, there will be four, preferably after the best fictional creatures. Have trawled a few lists website but am not yet decided or inspired. I'm working with ten year olds so the gruffalo etc are too young to appeal.

Any help much appreciated!

Daemons. Or Pantelaimon if you're looking for specific names.

What about a hippogriff from Harry Potter. There must be loads from those books, but I can't think.

Also, mythology would be a good source - eg pegasus

just don't put any poor spellers on psammead as that would be cruel.

Good point peri it's a lower ability set... Hippogriff should help with consolidating double consonants!!
