Dd starting reception in September - when to buy uniform?

Given that we can only get the uniform from the school shop and they often sell out of the small sizes quickly. Is it too early to buy it now? I don't want to risk having nothing and was thinking I could buy it a bit bigger.

No, it's unique to the school and ordered. My older dd is already there and I know from experience that sometimes an item sells out and then isn't available for months! But I am not sure whether she will grow and grow between now and Sept or not.

Presumably you're well stocked with hand-me-downs.

Buy on the large side, and get it done early do yo dn't have to think about it again. As you'll know from first time around, half the year will in in clothes which allow plenty of room for growth.

Sadly, we don't have hand me downs as the uniform has been completely changed in the last few years. Ok, I guess I will do it soon. It will take me till September to label everything!

Sounds a bit early to me. DD started reception this year and started buying uniform in July. Only you know how things operate in your local area though!

I haven't given the slightest thought to buying a uniform yet. Don't panic me, school places haven't even been confirmed!

Are you 110% sure you'll get a place?
No way I'll be buying uniform til we have a place confirmed!

I'd get it in July.

I bought in August - no point any sooner.

What did you do for your elder child? Just do the same, surely?

I think July is the best option as well - gives you a bit of leeway. Surely the school will be understanding though - if you can't get it, you can't get it!
