Homework doing your head in? Read wish-I'd-known tips from other parents on Mumsnet's Education pages.
One of my secrets from my youth is that I played xylophone in a marching band. (don't judge- band camp is EXACTLY like American pie) I started at about age 11 ish and it was a great social thing. I've never heard of anywhere doing actual lessons but being part of a band was great for me. Whereabouts in the country are you?
ok, they have a drum teacher coming into school, he's only just started visiting this term, so he's another option. thanks for the advice!
yes, that will be fine.the flute teacher will be able to show her how to "decode" the xylophone keyboard.for real technique, you'd go to a percussion specialist (but that's really not necessary right now)/
right, will do. her flute teacher also teaches piano, so i'll start with her.
any keyboard teacher would be able to teach it to a beginner. So you could ask for the visiting keyboard teacher.of course, if you want to play professionally, that's different!
dd really wants to learn, they have one in school, and i'm asking around about the school visiting music teaches to see if any of them teach it. anyone else learning?, and if so how did you find a teacher?
