Have you all heard how they did?

I haven't and I'm worried as I'm pretty sure dd is going to fail. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to know by now or not or if I'll be told at all

Actually I'm not worried as when she does it gives me more towards the fight to get her extra help.
Just want to know

I think the school must inform you of the results, so you will find out. DDs teacher told us on the day but we also got a slip in the school report yesterday too.

We haven't sent our results out yet they are going out on Tuesday with reports.

We sent out the results on the reports, but the teachers also created an individual list of which phonemes need more reinforcement for those that failed.

We have had the results. I think DD got 32 out of 40? will check.

Report
MaeMobley · 07/07/2012 11:06

yes - 32 out of 40. It says "Expected standard met. No additional support required". Her teacher also gave her a 1a for reading.

What result is a Fail?

Report
FallenCaryatid · 07/07/2012 11:09

32 is the pass mark, below 32 is a fail. So it would be helpful for you to know which 8 phonemes she didn't recognise.

Yes. Thanks. I had no idea in spite of all the threads on here. I am seeing her teacher on Thursday so will ask.

Found out dd passed. Not advised of score though.

We found out on Friday with a note in book bags. It only said pass, didn't give a mark.

We have not been informed one way or the other - haven't had the report for this year yet so maybe it will be on there.

Not informed, and have had report!

Don't know whether to ask? Am assuming no news is good news?

Ours wasn't in school report so asked the teacher, who said dd passed, which was quite a surprise as has been a struggle with her reading since she started reception. She said the school was only telling parents if they asked Hmm but I reckon they don't want to admit they are not the best at teaching reading/ phonics!

Do private school have to do this test as well? Haven't heard anything so assuming they are not required by law to do these test? Is this right or wrong Hmm

Report
mrz · 08/07/2012 09:41

Independent schools are excluded from formally taking the test.

Report
bigbuttons · 08/07/2012 09:42

mine both failed and I couldn't give a toss. It'll be a new test in a couple of years anyway,

Report
bigbuttons · 08/07/2012 09:43

Have you actually seen the test? it's bloody ridiculous and the pass rate is ludicrously high too.

Report
mrz · 08/07/2012 09:56

Yes I administered the check a pretty standard method of identifying possible literacy problems. As a SENCO I'm taking the results seriously.

We were told early last week. Ds1 passed with full marks. They can't withold the results and you shouldn't really have to ask, the instructions are that parents should be told iirc.

Report
mrz · 08/07/2012 10:31

Yes parents have to be informed of the results although it is up to schools how and when they do so.

The results in my DC school are going out tomorrow with the reports.

If a child passes but not at top marks are the parents told the ones they got wrong to help identify gaps in their phonics??

I don't have a child in yr1 (am awaiting DS's KS1 SATS instead!!). I am just curious....
