And yes I can't beleive that I think it's too casual to the classroom. It seems wrong to me, I would not wear them to work (but then again I work from home!).

It wouldn't worry me at all. DD's teacher usually looks fairly casual (not scruffy, just not prim/formal) but she is in Reception.

Who gives a monkey's chuff wtf they wear on their feet?
Isn't there some wrapping you can be getting on with OP?

Does anyone really pay any attention to what teachers are wearing on their feet?

Even though I think Ugg boots are the work of the devil, I must concede that what teachers wear on their feet is not of great importance to me.

Try standing all day, running around like a lunatic and traipsing across cold playgrounds, then come back and tell us Uggs are inappropriate.

As a teacher I don't think they are appropriate.
One of DDs teachers wears white snow boots with a black pinstripe trouser suit and a T-shirt with a child friendly design (think Winnie the pooh).
She would look much better in uggs, somle leggings and a nice knitted tunic.

It depends - if the children have a strict dress code, I would expect the teachers to have one too. If the children don't have to wear a uniform I wouldn't care if a teacher wears uggs.

I wouldn't. That's mostly because I think they look really ugly, but also I am in the science lab and I don't think they'd be appropriate.

I would not wear them, if outside in the rain at playtime they would absorb every single puddle within a 100 mile radius! Boots yes, UGG boots, no.

A couple of the teachers at DD's school wear high heels all day and I am more
at that, in that I just don't know how they do it. Ugg boots would be perfectly appropriate I would have thought.

Oh. Well I'm all for it if they find them suitable. I hate uggs myself but fair game to those who like them.
One of my 'friends' was moaning about the teacher having a tiny nose stud. I mean what? how on earth is that not appropriate...does it jeopardise safety, NO, does it cause any other problems, NO..I wear one, which I forget I have most of the time, and as a mother it doesn't appear to compromise my job either.
Really really ridiculous. But then again I resent and hate the pettiness schools can display over children's uniform, as well.
If they are going to be bloody fussy then I guess we can be too.

I wear boots, in snow I will put wellies on of I am on duty outside. But never uggs, impractical and sloppy.

We would be frowned upon for wearing a nose stud as well.

I just bought some Wombat boots, furry & cosy, look better made and nicer style than any Uggs and cost about a third of the price.

WHY is the general public SO obsessed by teachers clothes?
you dont get this with any other proefession

Tue 20-Dec-11 16:14:27
It depends on the school's stance I think in general but honestly, Kellogg, it just never ever occurred to me to worry about something like that.
If it was a great big hulking bull ring, or whatever they're called, or long dangly chains or anything else that might present a H&S issue then of course.
But a tiny stud, or reasonably sensible, warm flat boots - no. Where do you draw the line?

Tue 20-Dec-11 16:14:44
I wouldn't get away with a nose stud. I take most of my earrings out for school, as the pupils are only allowed one pair I think it's fair enough that I should only have one pair too.

Yay for Cod.
Happy Yule.
I think it's maybe because teachers tend to be the ones obsessing over our children's clothes. But I don't care what teachers wear. I really don't. We had an RE teacher who wore sandals/flip flops/bare feet.
Great fuss about that. It made things MUCH more interesting
