Bickely park school ??

We moved to Bromley area recently , considering Bickley park school for DS, looking for some positive or negative feedback on the school, anyone input would be very helpful, thank you

No direct relationship with the school. My cleaner's son goes there - she isn't desperately happy, but I think mostly because of friendship/peer group issues rather than any dissatisfaction about the quality of the education.

I know people who are very happy with Braeside Prep (all round positives, mixed) and receive rave reviews of St Christophers the Hall (mixed, really nurturing atmosphere, not as pressured as bickley).

My kids go to state school though, so these are just general impressions from current friends/acquaintances/relations when I've asked after their children.

Hi BusyBee no experience of Bickly Park, sorry. My DD has just started at Bishop Challoner and we are very happy with it - and we NEVER thought we would be going private so we took a while to decide

Ds1 went there but it was 9 years ago.

It was a bloody good school. When we moved to his new prep in surrey he was ahead of his peers. He was very happy there. He is very academic and the environment suited him.

Be sure to drive a 4x4 and park very badly, have to go past this school every morning!

Tell me one single school where that isn't the case though.

I live opposite a school and pass two others walking dd to school
They are all like it.

Bickley is bad as it is directly on such a main route to bromley

To be fair, at least you can see them coming at bickley. Unlike Bromley high where they have large car park and the parents just seem to close their eyes and hope for the best when they pull out across the pavement.

Thanks for the replies ladies.. My DS is quite sharp, likes challenge, but doesn't like pushed around ( including peers ). that's the main concern. Will look into other schools too...

Do look at braeside. My nephews go there. Is mixed, has a lovely atmosphere so I'm told. Older boy going to dulwich, several friends going the superselective route.

Thanks Pooka, it seems Breaside would be bit far from where we are located. Do you know what kind peer group pressure your cleaners son has? Is it academic or more like bullying? My DS is the quiet type , not very social and is happy in small groups. Thanks agiain for the inputs...

BusyBeeMommy have you made a decision, we have been offered a place at Unicorn (Eden Park/Beckenham) and have enquired at Bishop Challoner, the latter being a very friendly environment, where I think children of a sensitive nature will prosper. All children we came into contact with had impeccable manners, ie. it was not a staged tour, an impromtu visit. We are now torn whether to go the state route or independant route, bearing in mind we will only have 1 child and feel that maybe the investment now, will pay didvidends later, when we may struggle to get our LO into a decent secondary. Does anyone have any experiences of either school to offer some pearls of wisdom? Dooby2001 how is DD getting on?

Hi BusyBeeMKmmy, just wondering if you ended up sending your son to Bickley Park and how you found it. We are in a similar situation now with our son who is very sensitive type, so want to make sure it's still a nurturing school. Any thoughts anyone? I now the original post was years ago now...

Love the comments on parking. Used to live right next door to Bickley Parva and when in labour was actually blocked in (someone was on my property, on my drive). Dh spoke to him but even though my waters were breaking as he spoke, said dad still didn't move very quickly!!

Dear All, We are in the process of looking at primary schools for our DS to start next year in Bromley.We would be interested to know about any parent's review of Bickley Park School.
