early years profile- what scores are average?

Just preparing myself for tomorrow night's parents evening.
I have concerns about ds and his social and emotional development and I'm guessing that the teacher will tell us how he scores on the foundation stage profile when we see her.
What kind of range is normal/average for a boy of his age (5 in April)?

The average points score is 86.2.

The six points is highly misleading. Girls score higher than boys.

Physical development is highest and writing is lowest.

It is an end of reception assessment. No there is no mid year data and so. You cannot assume e that 5 would be a point to be at now. Learning isn't linear

Schools don't have to do the eyfs profile until the end if the summer.

Tne question to ask is what progress he is making against the development matters. Not where his eyfs profile score is

Like GottaKeepChanging says most children don't have the same score for all aspects and they don't learn linearly and not equally interested in everything.

The score is based on evidence (an adult witnessing the criteria) so a quiet child might be disadvantaged score wise if they don't demonstrate their knowledge at school.

With regards to social development, my son has an August birthday and was in a nurture group for the first half term of the school year as the teacher felt that it would help him. From what I hear, this seems to be a popular method in other schools too.

Thanks, just looked at the development matters.

They are broadly similar to EYFS profile and he is measuring up really quite poorly in terms of behaviour and self control in my opinion.

More to the point, I don't think he's made much, if any, progress in this field since starting reception...

My ds won't be disadvantaged by being quiet, but most likely will be because he won't follow instructions!

Nurture group sounds interesting. I don't know if they have one at our school, but I can ask, I think it would be good for him.
