my son is in year 5 and has had his mid term report. he is a level 3a for english & maths, what are the chances he will reach level 5 by end of year 6.

These are guideline results that only really help the school...the rel result is if you dc is a) learning and b)enjoying it! Why are you worrying about this? SAT's mean naff all for a developing child anyway..they develop at the rate they are mean't to. DS is way too young to know how his educational future will go. Stop fretting..grades only really matter in senoir school!

I'd stop worrying about it tbh. Agree with madhatter, SATS are a pile of bobbins anyway. We have children getting 3c's on paper who we know to be secure 3a's, particularly in writing. They panic and don't write enough to get the higher level. Why does he need level 5's?

He's unlikely to reach level 5 by end of year 6 - but he could.

He is more likely to get a solid level 4.

If he makes 'good progress' between now and then he will reach a 4a. So he will have to make 'exceptionally good progress' to make a level 5.
