A poster on another thread was saying how she wished her DSs school had emailed homework as the school had been closed for 3 days and he was climbing the walls. Use this thread to post your favourite free educational websites that might reduce stress for snow-bound parents.

Early phonics. Interactive stuff on computer (american accent) and lots of printable worksheets!

www.bigbrainz.com/Downloadn.html free downloadable game to learn and practise times tables. Really effective, and ever so slightly addictive!

DD was off today. So I did have her sit down for a short while to do some comprehension work and a bit of maths stuff relating to the current topic at school. And she did some reading through choice. I noticed that she willingly did piano practise, and also took herself upstiars and was writing for a while. Think the 40 mins in the snow this morning and watchign a couple of films duing the day meant she wa smore than willing to go and do some work as well

Thanks to all, these are great. We have 16 inches here in Kent, school closed today and unlikely to be open again until next week. One can only build so many snowmen......

Thanks everyone these have saved my bacon today

DD (4) loved gruffalo singing, digital butterflies and Lulu's games and DS (7) loved the Nasa kids stuff.

We've made some bread ( can't get to shops....), had some "quiet reading", played the magnetic fishing game and dominoes and they are now watching a DVD. No school tomorrow either........

ampere - more now, about 2ft as its been snowing today again. Yesterday it was up to DD's waist, I think it would be close to her nose today.

The cat is completely lost in it. He comes in every now and again looking like a Siberian tiger.Xmas Grin
