I have posted a few threads over the past 2 years about my DS now YR2. August birthday and the youngest in the year.

DEST 0.6 in year R - poor spacial memory. His reading being good but poor recollection of high frequency words. (read write inc scheme). Only P8 writing by term 2 of year 1.

His behaviour at school being 'poor' altho only at school and it seeming he's over punishd for personality opposed to naughtyness.

WELL

I have had parents evening tonight with his new teacher (who I hadn't yet met). Hes a 2c in Maths, 1A/2C in reading/comphrehension and is almost a secure 1A in writing. [hgrin].

I asked about his behaviour and if it had improved and loked at me as if I was mad and said he's a lovely boy, very passive and wasn't aware there was ever problems with his behavior and certainly none what so ever now. (shes the depHT!!) A few of the 'funny things' he does that she likes about him are the things he's spent 2 years getting into trouble for [hhmm] but I just kept stum!!!

So I want to say the biggest thankyou to all the teachers (esp feenie, Mrz, Goblinchild) and all the mummies who have given me practical advice, suggestions and generally supported me over the past 2 years and tell you I'm the proudest mum on the planet tonight [hgrin]

She was in hysterics telling about their rehersal for the class assembly. Apparently when the pupils doing the interactive whiteboard over pressed it and it went on too many pages DS would jump up and put it back quick as it was wrong Grin.

He jut can't sit back and relax if its not right!!! Actually anything thats not routine is hard for him to adjust too as its wrong. She has given him responsibilities in class - such as setting up activate so he has a routine but that he'll adjust to changes - for example having to set it up after lunch if no time before. Kinda like a 'it will happen but not always at the same time' type of job - oppossed to the normal 'sad side' punishment he would get for 'interferring'.

He doesn't get angry to change it just throws him and it takes a while for him to concentrate as he can't get what whould have been happening out of his head. [hgrin]

So in one term he went from a P8 in writing to a 1A ?????????

How is that possible?

No since January he has gone from a P8 to a 1A. So 2 1/2 terms. He came up from year 1 as a 1B but she assessed him as a 1A this term already - he's gone up a sub level in Maths and Writing since the start of year 2 - I think mostly as he has a teacher who is positive and encouraging with him.
