Science website that explains things clearly for KS1

DD has started asking lots of questions about weather, flight, biology, etc - some of which I can answer, many of which I can't; in either case I struggle to provide a simple enough explanation that she can understand or be satisfied with. She's 6.

Anyone know of a good reference site that could help me out? Looking for facts rather than activities, though plenty of illustrations would be ideal. Don't mind subscribing if need be.

Have you thought about a book? I know it's a bit more long winded but there are loads of great ones aimed at primary teachers that might be good, this one especially:

Thanks all - so far factmonster looking really good, have already found answers to a couple of questions there without too much effort.

Hadn't thought about books, really just because of their finite nature (and the fact that DD's questions are often not the most obvious ones), but that second one in particular looks interesting; will try and get a hold of one from the library I think, to see if it covers what I need.

Any more suggestions?

National Geographic is also good

Thanks RoadArt, think that would be right up her street too. Didn't realise they published a children's version of the magazine as well - anyone subscribed to this? Any good?
