Rigby Star vs ORT

Hello,

We've moved into a new area and my son has started at the local primary school. He's just entered year 2.

In his previous school he was on ORT level 11 and was doing really well. The new school follows the Rigby Star scheme, which I'm not really familiar with.

On Friday he came home with three reading books which were level 4 and which frankly, looked far too easy for him. Obviously I intend to speak to the teacher on Monday. I just wondered if anyone could tell me what Rigby Star level is comparable to ORT 11?

Thank you!

Sara

The Rigby Star books we've had are in coloured book bands. ORT 11 would be equivalent to gold/white, I think.

Some 'rigby star' colours seem to be one below the colour of the bookband (or they were at DDs old school anyway)
So while most say yellow Rigbys would equate to Band 3 (yellow) some would be Band 2 (Red)
So it would seem that your DS has gone down about 7 levels.I think you definitely need to have a word
