pencils???

Hi
my ds is starting primary school in Sept and im a bit confused about the whole pencil situation, do i buy him pencils & etc or do they give them to him? I have always thought that they was given them to begin with and told and shown how to use them. But I have had several ppl ask me if he needs them and now im abit worried shall i go out and buy him a lil set?? it doesnt mention anything about a pencil case in his starting school info pack.

confused :(

You should not need to buy him anything except his uniform

Reception no need for pencils to be bought. I only had to start buying pencils once they got to Year 3.

Yep he is going in to reception, this is what i thought, but all my family and friends got me a bit confused! i didnt think they needed them until they was at least in yr 3 lol

Quite honestly, they never NEED them, pens, pencils and all other bits and pieces are always provided no matter what age. However children do seem to like having their own around Yr 3, it's like mob hysteria, pencil cases suddenly start appearing all over the class! To be truthful, it's a bit of a pain!

In my DC's school they are supposed to have their own pencil cases from Yr 3 onwards. I can't see that the school wouldn't have a spare pencil for them to use if they didn't bring their own though! Some children have their own in Yrs 1&2. DS2 is going into Yr 2 and takes his own as he uses special pencil grips.

Yesterday we had meltdown from DD (Reception) as she wanted a pencil case like her brothers (Yrs 2 and 3). I didn't give in though!

Last year I got pencils printed with their names, in the hope that they wouldn't get lost. They still all went missing. So this year I have got 30 pencils for £1 from Poundland, at that price I don't care if they go missing!

In Dc's school they are supplied with pencils.

Did you get any paperwork that might tell you? Or maybe the school website?
