Was pulled out of class yesterday and some senco (I presume?) told him that he scored really highly in this MIDYIS ? test he did when he was in yr 6 and came on a taster day to the school. What does this mean now for him? What could this mean? I'm a teacher myself but in Early Years and have no experience of this.My 14 yr old DD is bright and is doing well and is on track for A*s if we can keep the motivation going. He is in his 1st term of yr 7.They have already admitted he was in a lot of the wrong sets/classes at the beginning of the year but DS wasn't fussed it didn't create any behavioural issues etc.He likes school but he doesn't like it that much :>) He has friends and seems quite popular. He will just do the bare minimum with homework etc but all the teachers like him as he has a good attitude to learning.

I'm just wondering what will happen next? I guess he may get extension work, stay in the same classes, apparently the teacher he spoke too said it was genius level which made me laugh and obviously he is very happy but we have warned him not to brag about it as we don't want others to view him as cocky which he isn't (he's very quiet and sensitive)

Anyone have any experience of this?Should I also post in Secondary?
I have looked at the school prospectus and it says a little bit, more what they can be gifted and talented in but not how they cater for it.

Hi, I think there is a gifted & talented forum on Mumsnet, so you'll get more advice over there Smile
