What are you buying your 12 year old DDs for Xmas?

As title says, what are you buying your DDs for Xmas?

Looking for inspiration here. My daughter can never think of anything she wants (she wanted a better mobile phone and has gone off that idea now). She has come up with a list of four books to read, we traipsed around town yesterday and came back with no other ideas. She still has her birthday money to spend!

DD1 is getting laptop, she had a much smaller birthday recently to account for this.

DH is attending to it.

Other than that just a few stocking fillers and Xmas pjs. No more than about £20 extra.

Who knows. DD is so changable. I asked her at the weekend what she'd like. She said she wanted her belly button pierced. I said no. She then decided she'd get away with her tongue being done. Another no. She moved on to a tiny tattoo. Another no from me.
At this rate it'll be a flake and a book.

We've got dd12 some stuff for her room. A fox cushion and a nice warm throw for her bed. Some new clothes. A book from amazon called listography that looked fun. And a few other bits and bobs.

My dd could do with a new bike. Also she has just started high school and is quite into netball so may look into a post and ball.

DD has her birthday just after Xmas and I'm always the one who has to think up presents from 2 sets of grandparents and all the aunts & uncles. I have a long list of ideas which includes:

Giraffe Onesie from Next
any old crap with One Direction on it
iTunes card
Decopatch
£12 handbag from Peacocks
Felting wool
Vouchers for Primark, Boots, Claire's Accessories, Lush
Over ear headphones
Demon Dentist book
Build a Bear bed
Fluffy rug from Ikea
make up brush set
nail varnish set

But certainly not a laptop, although she wants one. Her elder brother hasn't got one and if we gave her one there would be a mutiny

kreecher loving your DDs thinking Grin
When DD1 was 9 she wanted her ears pierced and pestered constantly, one day passing local piercing/tattoo studio I said she could get her tongue done as it wasn't on show and maybe get her ears done in a year or so if it wasn't too sore and she kept it clean. Shut her up and she didn't pester me again. Got them done last year for Christmas.

Grin.
She does already have holes in her ear lobes. I am currently considering allowing/paying for one at the top of her ear since 'every one else has it done'.

My dd is getting

My little pony t-shirt
Guns n roses t-shirt
Glow in the dark stars (300 of them)
Tickets to see Black Veil Brides
A couple of books

All she asks for is money so when other people ask what to get her it's a nightmare

To those of you getting a ukelele.
Are you going for cheapest possible eBay jobby or music shop £40 jobby.
My dd plays ukelele and I wouldn't have a clue which type to buy her.

Report
Lancelottie · 22/11/2013 10:04

I'm going to ask DS to help buy it as he plays it already (but probably 'cheapest possible that comes in purple' till we've tested the waters).

They all basically sound the same to me, but I'm a uke philistine.

Report
Lancelottie · 22/11/2013 10:07

Interestingly, DS went to look round a 6th form music department yesterday. He thought he had no chance of doing music without playing the piano, but when he mentioned playing uke, they said, 'Oh, fine, you'll know enough about chord progressions then...' so maybe it's not just a pleasant timewaster.
