Has your child seen the school nurse?

I often read children have seen their school nurse. How often do they see the school nurse or is it only something they do if they have concerns? Does she always send a report to parents? I just wondered as my daughter is now in Year 7 and can't remember ever seeing one.

School Nurses tend to have to be used for whatever the 'push' is at the time - so, in recent years it's been a lot of the cervical cancer injection catch up they've been offering all teens.
Mine were weighed and measured in R and then again in Yr6 I think (actually - now you mention it, I don't think current Yr6 dd has been - perhaps they've stopped that).
Generally though, they spend a lot of time at Child Protection Conferences and doing mass vaccinations, try to squeeze in writing some care plans, and there's not a huge amount of time for anything else.
Oh, no, I never heard anything after the weigh / measure - I think if they are obese / seriously underweight then you might get a letter.

DD's school has a full time nurse as a migraine sufferer DD sees her nearly every week and more if she has a playground fall.

DS went to the school nurse's eneurysis (bedwetting) clinic when he was 7. She was very helpful. The GP referred him to her.
