Any suggestions for DS1's 12th birthday celebrations?

DS1 will be turning 12 in the summer holidays and he will be having a sleepover at home with 4 friends and the will no doubt spend time on the Xbox...

However, the boys will be arriving in the afternoon so I wanted to keep them occupied (and away from the screens). I suggested swimming or the cinema, but DS1 does not seem keen.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks

Oh, also not keen on bowling, laserquest (did that for his 9th). I even looked at local theatre listings but could find nothing age appropriate.

I sympathise. My daughter is 12 in the holidays and we've given her loads of suggestions, and she doesn't seem keen on any of them. Consequently, we haven't got around to organizing anything.

Maybe I should send them off to the local park with snacks and let them get on with it grin.

DS went to MaccyD's with his mates and then onto the cinema, 4 of them picked up by DH and back here for x-box and sleepover. All was good - just let them go to the park or do whatever (within reason, of course!) and it will be finesmile

What about a whipped cream pie fight?

11yo dd is having one on her last day of primary. Feeling a bit apprehensive about the mess, but hopefully the hose will sort that out.
You could ask people to bring a couple of cans of squirty cream with them, and wear scruffy clothes.

Thanks for the suggestions. Love the whipped cream fight idea, although would prefer something less tempting to wasps grin. Think I will suggest water if the weather lasts and we do not have a hose pipe ban imposed.

Or maybe even the paddling pool? Ours is quite big and I think at 11/12, the boys still are kids at heart.

Thanks again

Take them to a golf driving range if you have one near you? Quite inexpensive to have a bucket of balls to hit.
