Thanks FernieB, I got the number and called them beforehand - spoke to his Dad who confirmed that they hadn't been rail-roaded into it and that they were happy for my son to come over. he sounded nice. When we dropped him off, we met both parents, turns out the boy's mum is a teacher at the High School so sort of knew my son although she wasn't his regular teacher. He had a fantastic time and didn't want to come home - we are arranging to have his friend over to our house soon.
Get the phone number - tell your DS, it's just in case you need to contact him. Won't you meet the parents when you take your DS round there? You could phone them before and just say you wanted to check what time they wanted him round etc. My DD's (12) have gone to friends' houses after school when I haven't met the friend or the parents and friends of theirs have come here in similar circumstances. That's how I get to know their friends and their parents!
No1 son has been invited for his first High School sleepover. He is 12 and a half. and in 1st year. he started High School in August and it isn't his catchment school so he only knew 1 boy (his best friend at the time). He is at the different school because of Bullying in primary made him anxious and basically a tearget to al and sundry had he gone to the catchment school.
He is settling in really well and has made some new friends.
A friend has invited him for a sleepover at the weekend and I'd like for him to go.
However, it's all a bit new as he has only ever gone on sleepovers at his friends house round the corner who's parents we know and have known the friend since he was 4.
I have never met this boy or his parents and they live in the town where the High School is.
My son will be happy to go, he goes away with Scouts so wont be homesick I don't think.
I've asked him to get the boy's phone number so I can speak to them tomorrow, but is that what you do? I don't want to look like a lunatic or an overprotective parent.
