Apparently kids don't know what they want. Your thoughts?

Dairylea have apparently set up a campaign for simple fun, as kids may ask for expensive toys but what they really want is a bike and other simple playthings (good old days etc). I've not read the article, but I would say that kids know exactly what they want, but they're not always the best at knowing what is good for them.

Simple test. Next time DC asks for a new phone, gadget or expensive toy tell them you'll get it, then turn up with a second hand bike and a thaumatrope. Bring earmuffs. :o.

I had to google thaumatrope.

We used to do something similar (whirlers, with patterns that changed) with the circular Dairylea boxes.
