Pre-school Xmas party

We are doing a Xmas party on the last day of term. We are going to invite the parents for the last 1and half hours of the session and have a little snack buffet, some games and dancing and a little present for the children.#
Also giving the parents some mince pies and mulled wine.
BUT, then i thought, are we breaking any liscensing laws about serving alcohol?
Or would it be best to do a mulled fruit drink instead?
What are you doing at your pre-school?

Think the law is about whether you charge for it or not.
Your local council will be able to tell you.

We are going ot the local soft play centre.
Last eyar we had a proper party in the session which was lovely.

We have coffee and mince pies before the christmas concert(squark along)
We have a parents and staff curry night out
The children have a last day party where we have an entertainer.

Not sure about licensing, we are based at a methodist church so alcohol isn't even allowed in our raffles. so it has never come up sorry

If you don't charge you're ok, nothing stopping parents donating an entry fee though.

I always thought the alcohol evaporates in mulled wine... si it doesn't count.

Rocks used to do a really nice winter cordial that was tasty warmed up.
Our ps is having a party during normal ps session, with party lunch and entertainer etc and a concert for parents, gps etc on the last day.
