i will be working mon-thu from 1st april (currently nearing end of mat leave ). DD1 is due to start her pre-school year at nursery in aug (we're in scotland). The primary school she will go to is 5 min from home.

both dds will go to existing chilminder whilst i'm working. however, she will not be able to take dd1 to prefered nursery but can and is willing to take her to the one nearer to her house. she'll have 4 kids to look after so all won't fit in car.

i'm waiting to hear from the schools if they will let me take dd1 on mon, fri at one nursery (i'll work from home on a mon) and tue, wed, thu at another. though according to the support staff this can't happen...

i figure i've got a few options if the answer is no.

  • change my hours (though will mean cut in pay)
  • only take her 2 days to preferred nursery
  • 3 days at non preferred nursery (but then she doesn't get to meet the other kids she'll go to school with
  • don't send her - is this wise?

sorry that's a bit of a ramble, but does anyone have any thoughts/experience of this?

it can be done. my ds1 is doing 2 pre school nurseries after easter - all arranged. 3 mornings at local school nursery and 1 full day at the private nursery he has been at since he was 6 months old. this equals his 5 sessions.

i should have said our area lets us do it. both nurseries are in different counties too

My dd did - it was quite clear that one was far superior to the other though in about a month

thank you

mum2jakeyroo - the 2 nurseries are attached to schools rather than one being private, which might make a difference as spaces are short (surprise, surprise).

still waiting on deputy head phoning, will need to get my assertive hat on.
