Firstly Can you believe they are leaving. How is this happening, where did the time go and oh my God how can they really be starting proper, real, big school???!!!!

Secondly - what are you buying the teachers to say thank you?

I know, it's so hard to believe and thank you for reminding me to get teachers a gift - I suppose I should get them a gift each. Someone on a previous thread suggested scented candles but I will keep thinking.

It is very weird isn't it...DS did his second visit to big school today and I can't believe that he is leaving nursery behind and starting a new part of his life...my boy growing up sniffs in pathetic Mummy manner!

we are doing vouchers as a class - split between the 3 main teachers and then something little each for the helpers

it has gone quickly - ds (and dd when she was there!) loved the nursery. It's so warm and friendly and comforting!

Are there loads of thrreads of presents, I'll have a look thanks.

ggirl, I clubbed together with other mums and got the teachers flowers at the end of term but Lottie wasn't actually leaving.

I want to get seperate presents as each of the teachers has been amazing. Lottie has Down's syndrome and they have really been amazing. Other schools I went to amazed with their ignorance whereas the teachers at this school have blown me away.

Ds "graduated" last week and is now no longer a pre-schooler. He's very excited about becoming a schooly and can't understand why he has to wait till August to go. His best friend from next door is in his class, but all his wee friends from nursery are going to schools where the nursery is, and we are a bit further away, so he is already missing them, with no chance of seeing them again.
I ended up getting a necklace and earring set for his special teachers, and we are going to pop-in with some strawberry tarts next week for a wee treat.

I have primed a parent who knows the teachers to find out what colour wine they all like and will buy them a bottle.
DS1 will make cards for them.
DS1 is very excited abuot his new school although a bit anxious about leaving - especially since most of his friends are going to a different school but we all live near each other so I hope we'll all meet up in the park often!

Can't believe I am joining this thread shes my baby!

I decided that I would get something for the preschool itself, any ideas?
(and something small for the staff)

sob - I'm joining this thread too. Who will I play with in the afternoons when DS is at school? sob.

Very excited about him starting school but was looking at school uniform today and thinking, "no, he's not old enough for that". And he's 5 in Sept so one of the oldest starters!

With regard to presents, I thought flowers for the teachers and something for the preschool like a big pack of coloured painting paper and sticky shapes and glittery card - the sort of thing they are always a bit short of come Christmas!

Something for the school itself is a lovely idea.
Decided to go in with another mum I'm very friendly with, she works in Selfridges and can get Christian Dior makeup bas and things at next to no cost. Then we can get a little plant or something and some crafty stuff for the school is a lovely idea. Thanks.

Sad isn't it.

DD leaves nursery this months . I can't believe it is nearly here, seriously [bewildered emoticon]. DD will be one of the youngest (if not the youngest) in her class, she turns 4 in August. Gawd, I'll be an absolute wreck on her first day.

We are off to our 3rd 'taster session'
at her new school this afternoon, DD loves it, despite not knowing any of the kids in her class (we moved house on 28th April and we decided not to change nurseries). She's a confident, friendly little soul, so I'm sure she'll make friends in no time. Doesn't stop me being paranoid though [pathetic emoticon]

Presents ? Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm, probably some book vouchers for the nursery as a whole and I'll have to have a good think about something personal for the ladies themselves. Maybe something personal from DD ?

We went to the school today for ds to see his new classroom and he was not happy. Parents were supposed to leave their child in the classroom and then go back to the hall but ds was crying so much and pleading with me not to leave him that I was forced to stay. He has been put in a class with some of the girls from his nursery (and other children he doesn't know) and his best friend is in a different class.

I'm wondering it it's worth asking if he can be moved to be with his friend as it will make it so much easier for him to settle in

So Sad she left playschool on Friday, cried when I read her report, when I wrote the cards, at lunch time on Friday (at work) as I realised that she had finished.
Nursery won't bother me as much as it is part of the school and she just moves to the next class.

I gave the teachers note books made of handmade paper thta could be used as photo albums, and playschool got a hopscotch mat that can be used for number work and other things.

Didn't get any presents - will ds (still attending Pre School now that dd has left) suffer as a consequence?

Can't believe Lottie's going to big school in September! She's going to love it, I'm sure - and her classmates will ADORE her, as will her teachers!

My DS1 left nursery last week and will start school in September. I still cant believe it. He just seems so young to be going to school. But in other ways I think it is just the thing he needs right now. I know I am going to be a complete wreck though in that first week in September. The visit last week was bad enough. I had the biggest lump ever in my throat. Where have the past 4 years gone???
