Splitting pre-school - does this sound ok?

Hi ladies!
At the minute my DD1 has just started her free vouchers and is in the pre-school at the nursery she's been going to since she was 6months. She was only in for one full day, she is now in for 2x 9-3pm.
Come September she can go to the pre-school at what will be her school. They do an afternoon session only. Now we have a really busy schedule at the minute. I know we will have to sort some stuff out like dance classes and swimming when she's full time, but I can still swing it for now.
What I want ( and I know it's my ideal!) is for her to do Mon, Wed, Fri afternoons at the school and still do an 9-3 at nursery on a Tuesday.

At the end of all that...has anyone split it like this? Does it work?

DD2 kept her full Tuesday at nursery and did Mon,Wed and Thursday at pre school and we went to toddlers on Friday.

She swam on Monday evenings after we collected DD1 from school.

Having two quite different settings never bothered her or the friend who attended both at all.

My DD2 split her funded sessions between two settings - there is no problem with that. You may have to pay for some of the time (I had to pay for lunch and an hour at the nursery she stayed at all day).

Cheers guys, how did you sort out the placements? I've just been given my application pack for 'school'. Do I fill it out and then tell them I only want 3 days?
Just want to get it sorted now, not in three months time!

Oh I don't know, neither of ours was associated with school. I just told one she was coming one day and the other she was doing 3 mornings, made sure I was accurate on the forms for claiming funding, and all was fine. There will presumably be somewhere on the application for that asks how many sessions you want (you have checked they take part timers? Some school nurseries like children to go every day and are busy enough to insist.)

It will depend on the demand for places. A lot of school Nurseries, in particular, will have half the children in at one time and the other half in at another - some split mornings and afternoons, others do 2.5 days for each cohort. If they work like that, you won't be able to pick and choose. PVIs are more likely to be flexible as, at the end of the day, they are a business, and, if they have a space in a session and you want it, then they will be happy to fill it. You would have to approach the particular Nursery class you are thinking of, and ask if there is any choice of session times.
