Does anyone know the guidlines for prem babies - ie do you wait til 6mths corrected or 6mths actual age?

My DD is 6.5mths actual and we have just moved her into her own room she seems to sleep better but stil feeding 2-3 times during the night.....

just a little comcerned I may have been too hasty by moving her into her own room.... she is still only small 9lb 10oz....

Not sure about any guidelines for this but i did pretty much the same as you. Ds was also 6.5 months when he went to his own room. He seemed ready for it and it wasnt long after that he started to sleep through the night.

Thanks pipintroll. Don't know if it's cos she was prem or whether I'm just a manic mum but seem to get worried about the slightest things with her

Having an off day today and feel as though I'm not doing as well as I should be so the slightest thing is making me paranoid!

I had twins (9 wks early) and had them in own room from the start. If one was unwell I would bring them into our room in a moses basket by the bed but overall I found it fine to have in own room. They are now 4 and have always been very settled in own room.

also I had loads of off days and it is very easy to get very worried. Follow your judgement and if worried about anythign take them to the doctor - I always found them to be more than willing to take a look and reassure or treat as necessary. the first year is very tough without a doubt but it does get easier as they get bigger and stronger. The key measurement always seems to be when you take them home from hospital but in my experience this is just the beginning as in many cases you are taking home a fairly poorly child - infection prone, difficult to feed, refux - were only a few of the things that I faced and it is tough. Don't despair though because as I say it will get easier.

You're not being manic or paranoid! It's just another one of those things that us mums of prem babies have to make adjustments for. When should I start weaning? When should I take lo swimming? When should they go to their own room? etc. It still takes me 5 minutes to work out which age of clothes I need to buy him when I go shopping! I still have off days too but I think if you follow your instincts you won't go far wrong.
