OK, if you ever have one of those days where you are really questionning yourself on something, just post here why you are questionning yourself and let us tell you to stop worrying.

hiya, my lo was 7 weeks prem and is now 8 months old he puts on a little weight and then drops back again hes drinking more than what the guidlines say he should for his weight (10lb14oz) so what am i doing wrong?? where is the milk going? he was born with a cleft lip and palate so he cant eat solids because he gets really unsettled when the food goes into his nose. anybody else experience this? hes just been put on higher energy formula but he only took about 17oz today. i find myself trying to force feed him bacause i dont want him to keep dropping but usually he drinks more than what he should?

Hi Tasaha - I think that being sickly is a prem 'thing' my DD is just over 4mths old and only weighs 6lb9oz and although she isn't being exccessivly sick she is sick a lot and I'm sure it affects her weight.

Have you been to your GP or HV maybe they could give your LO Domperidione or Gaviscon?

Big hugs x

You may find a big difference Tasha once he has been on the higher energy formula for a while. My lo has come on leaps and bounds since he's been on it. Have you spoken to your pedeatrician about how or when you can tackle solids with him as maybe he's just getting sick of the milk. I know I was having a really hard time feeding my son and started solids because of it, which he loves. It's sooo stressful when they won't take their milk but you certainly aren't doing anything wrong.

he wants to eat solids but the food keeps going into his palate/nose and then he gets really unsettled he gets carobel in his milk. hes taken 3 bottles today which im much happier with because he should take another one before the days out. the hv hasnt really suggested much just keeps saying that hes dipped again and im not sure the higher calorie milk will help but hoping it will. but he was drinking a lot more of his ordinary milk and still dipping is it normal for them to take less of the higher calorie milk?

I've found that with my ds he drinks a lot less of the higher calorie milk than normal milk. I think maybe it's thicker so it sits heavier in their stomach.
