Getting baby to take bottle

Cluck71 · 26/01/2014 11:20

My lo is exclusively bf although he has happily taken the occasional bottle of formula in the past. I have a couple of days coming up when I need to be away from him and he just won't take the bottle.

Any tips / miracle solutions?

DS is 9 weeks actual 4.5 weeks adjusted.

Hey Cluck. We had the same issue. We tried lots of different teats before our DS finally took to a bottle. He likes the long shaped teats. Good luck. Xxx

Thanks Fragglerock, going to persevere as I think it's important that other people are able to feed him for both our sakes. Hope things are well with you x

Hey Cluck. How are you getting on with the bottle? Did you try some different teats? Our DS is doing well, still struggling with reflux/constipation though but just had a change of medication today so we will see if that makes a difference Grin

Morning FraggleRock. He's a little better with bottle, not spitting it out now at least, we're using some cheap supermarket bottles which a few of us tried whilst in Scbu. Going to keep at it a couple of times a day and hope that he is happy with it by the 8th as I've got to leave him with dad for the day!
Had his jabs yesterday and understandably yelled when the needles went in. He was very fussy all evening which I hope was down to the vaccinations but since 9pm has be having big chunks of sleep....we're only up now because the smell of his nappy and sound of straining woke us! Grin
Glad you're lo is doing well, is he your first? X

Chunks of sleep sound like pure bliss. Our DS has been awake every hour since 02:00 feeding or straining. Slept for three hours with Grandma watching over the first chunk of the night, typical! He is currently next to me making goat noises! Yes he's my first. Is this your first? X

Sounds familiar....had a few nights like that and i dare say there will be many more but after a rough evening, last night was his best nights sleep.

Yes, he's my first. Left it a bit late in life (I'm 41!) but despite the exhaustion can't imagine being without him. X

That isn't old. I'm 36 but most of my friends fell pregnant in their early 40's x

No I suppose it isn't Smile. Most of my friends and family had theirs younger.

Lo gets weighed tomorrow, last weigh in at 6/7 weeks was 7.12lb so curious as to how much he's put on.

Is the reflux/constipation getting any better? x

Noooooo! Very tiring for DS. We are into day three yet again with no poop and a frustrated, straining baby Confused. Roll on weaning and fruit purée! X

Poor little chap, it's horrible not to be able to help when they're like that.....I nearly lost my voice talking and singing to mine last night when he was feeling out of sorts.

I hope your lo feels better soon! X
