Reassurance needed- faint lines, spotting, ivf pregnancy and miscarriages : ((((((

I need some kind words and positivity!!! sad

I have had donor egg ivf in the Czech Republic and am currently 8 days past a 5 day transfer (13dpo) of some lovely embryos. So literally as my friend keeps reminding me- they have only been in my tummy 8 days!

Now on Monday (11dpo) I had some pink spotting when I wiped and this carried on to yesterday lunchtime. Nothing heavy or major, clinic stopped my aspirin and bleeding has stopped. Because I thought it was all over on Monday I did a test and it was positive- well, I was shocked!! Tested again Tuesday morning, Tuesday night AND this morning and they are all positive but faint and all still the same- no darker.

Did an internet cheapie tonight too and that is clearly positive although faint.

I have a hcg blood test tomorrow but I'm thinking that at 14dpo (4weeks pregnant by donors cycle) and with such faint tests, the level is gonna be LOW. And I'm so scared sad

I have had 8 years of TTC, miscarriages, such sad sad times. And I really want this baby to stay but I feel awful that things look rocky already. The spotting and the faint tests. It's just all scaring me so much. If it was a natural pregnancy, I don't think I would even know at this stage!

I just really want some positivity and a hand hold. I feel so rotten.

Here are my tests for you to mental over...

All in time order, top to bottom- Monday night, Tuesday morn, Tuesday night and this morning. I'm worried that this mornings is lighter...

tametortie Wed 30-Apr-14 19:19:16

And IC from tonight....

eurochick Wed 30-Apr-14 19:21:45

Hi tame. My lines seemed to get lighter this time and I was going crazy, but blood tests showed my HCG levels going up, so I gave up the piss sticks!

I really hope this is it for you. I'm around for a handhold whenever you need it. x

tametortie Wed 30-Apr-14 19:24:26

Euro ((((()))))) I'm so worried- nobody seems to get it!

Sad thing is, I 'feel' pregnant. Really feel it. But I know my hormones aren't going to match what I feel.

After all those hcg tests for the last mc, I feel sick to my stomach about what the number will be. Absolutely sick.

I predict 20 sad

eurochick Wed 30-Apr-14 19:28:02

I've been there - with a bad HCG and with good ones.

Remember you are testing super early - the lines are going to be faint. You're not even at the "missed period" point yet that would trigger most of the population into thinking about going out and buying a test.

I'll have everything crossed for you tomorrow. x

tametortie Wed 30-Apr-14 19:35:43

That's what my friends and DH keep saying- it's still early!!

If this mornings test had been a smudge darker I would have felt so much better.

Then I tell myself that with the miscarriages, I had good dark lines and they failed- perhaps this one is different and for keeps??!!!

eurochick Wed 30-Apr-14 19:45:17

I was comparing my pee sticks this time to the ones from when I was pregnant before my mc <menkul> and the mc ones seemed darker! But my HCG was about double this time at 14dpo what it was for the mc pregnancy. Step away from the wee sticks, lady!

tametortie Wed 30-Apr-14 19:49:10

What was your hcg at 14dpo euro?? X

TheBuggerlugs Wed 30-Apr-14 20:00:59

Tame I tested with Tesco, super drug and IC tests after IVF at the equivalent of 11,12,13 and 14dpo and the tests didn't get darker. I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed convinced it was a chemical and even rang the clinic to see if I could stop the progesterone etc and just let a period come.

At the equivalent of 15dpo my hcg was 216 and I'm currently 15W2d with a singleton.

I hope this Will give you some hope xx

eurochick Wed 30-Apr-14 20:01:30

107. It was 48 on my mc cycle. I was stunned.

TheBuggerlugs Wed 30-Apr-14 20:02:27

Also, on the evening before the blood test I did a CBD and got pregnant 1-2 weeks. Oh did I sob with joy.

ikeaismylocal Wed 30-Apr-14 20:06:10

SOme of your tests look really strong to me (especially the 3rd one down of the first pic)

I tested at the same stage as you with this pregnancy and the line was so faint I put the test down and thought oh well I'm not pregnant, I'll have a couple a glass of wine tonight. Dp came home and the test had dried and was a very faint but noticable line, that test was lighter than all of your tests but I'm 14 weeks pregnant with an aparently healthy baby.

Good luck, I'm thinking dark line thoughts for you!

tametortie Wed 30-Apr-14 20:07:55

Why do we do it to ourselves??!!!

I have first response tests lined up on my windowsill and I keep looking at them and feeling wretched. I am still only 13dpo today.

I hope I get a good level tomorrow. I can't even THINK about it. My brain just won't process it.

What do you think of my tests above?? I need opinions please- do they look too light??

tametortie Wed 30-Apr-14 20:09:19

Thanks Ike- I thought that test looked dark too, then this mornings looked a tad lighter and really upset me sad

ikeaismylocal Wed 30-Apr-14 20:28:43

My tests also got lighter, but then it was darker the day after, it is so much to do with urine concentration and individual tests done with the same urine can show fairly differing results (can you tell I am a slight testing addict?)

All of your testst look 100% positive to me, they all look like they have colour in the lines and I'm not having to squint to see the line.

Do you want me to post my test which was on the day my period was due?

I went so cazy with testing with my first pregnancy that I actually broke open one of the first respone tests (the ones where they tell you how many weeks you are) with a hammer so I could see how strong the line was.

I would worry that your tests might be fading in the light of the window, so don't be alarmed if they look lighter than you remembered.

Hatteras Wed 30-Apr-14 20:29:53

Another IVF'er here and totally understand how you feel. Currently 17 weeks and touch wood, all seems ok, but when I was at your stage, I did one HPT that showed I was pregnant and then the next day I did another test and the line definitely looked more faint (and DH agreed, it wasn't just my paranoia). I was absolutely terrified and convinced it meant it was a chemical pregnancy and wouldn't stick...but all as I said, seems ok so far. After those two tests I didn't do any more, it just got me too worked up.

For what it is worth, your lines all look good and strong to me, but I know it isn't easy to feel convinced or confident at this early stage. I found this an incredibly difficult and anxious time, you are not alone! Sending un-mumsnetty hugs your way and hopefully your HCG levels will be reassuring.

tametortie Wed 30-Apr-14 20:40:26

Ike- yes please! Post a pic!!

Hat- I feel like stopping testing but 20 internet cheapies arrived today grin

I wonder if the level if dye is the same in these tests?!

Hatteras Wed 30-Apr-14 20:54:29

Step away from the tests!! grin

TheBuggerlugs Wed 30-Apr-14 20:55:15

I'll second that. NO MORE TESTS grin grin

tametortie Wed 30-Apr-14 21:36:18

I wish it was that easy hmm

After tomorrow's blood test, I'll try to
Breathe easy. Unless the level is low in which case I'll be spending my bank holiday weekend on google....

eurochick Wed 30-Apr-14 22:52:36

I stopped testing after the first blood test result. Because it clearly showed that the sticks meant nothing in terms of strength.

G'luck for tomorrow, tame.

ikeaismylocal Thu 01-May-14 05:45:36

I can't seem to get the photo to work from my phone but good luck with the blood test today, I really hope all goes well for you thanks

ImBrian Thu 01-May-14 07:02:32

Remember those ic tests can take forever to get a darker line on. Good luck with your bloods today.

Flickstar Thu 01-May-14 07:55:40

Hope your blood test gives you a good strong result. This is my first test on the evening of 15 DPO. SOOOO faint! I'd had a BFN with FMU on 13DPO. Am now 33 weeks pregnant. Your tests look really good to me.

TheBuggerlugs Thu 01-May-14 08:08:07

What time do you get your results today?

tametortie Thu 01-May-14 08:47:27

Bugger- most likely this afternoon.

I feel soooo negative. These faint tests have just made me feel terrible. sad I'm pretty sure that with such faint lines my hcg will be under 20.

MrsCouchman Thu 01-May-14 09:49:34

I had faint lines for 3 days then did a digital & it came up instantly pregnant. Any line is a positive smile fingers crossed for you x

Amo101 Thu 01-May-14 09:58:54

I had a faint line at 12dpt went for blood test and the result was 300! I'm currently 26 weeks with triplets. Don't give up hope x

QueenOfThorns Thu 01-May-14 10:10:48

When I tested on the day the clinic told me to, the line was so faint, it was a bit of an anticlimax. We'd expected either devastation or euphoria, but were left feeling kind of confused

I was never offered an HCG blood test, just kept obsessively POASing and the line never really got any darker. Still, there was a heartbeat visible on the 6 week scan and 1 year on, I'm sitting here feeding my beautiful daughter. So I'd say that the faintness of that line means nothing. Positive is positive!

tametortie Thu 01-May-14 13:54:28

41 sad((((

TheBuggerlugs Thu 01-May-14 14:02:23

Oh Tame thanks

Are they going to retest in a couple of days?

vallinnapod Thu 01-May-14 14:06:32

Tame please don't be dispondent. They are way over 5. YOU ARE PREGNANT...it will be the doubling they are looking for.

Look at the below stats for how varied HCG can be:

3 weeks LMP: 5 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks LMP: 5 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks LMP: 18 7,340 mIU/ml
6 weeks LMP: 1,080 56,500 mIU/ml
7 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 229,000 mIU/ml
9 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 288,000 mIU/ml
13 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 254,000 mIU/ml
17 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 165,400 mIU/ml
25 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 117,000 mIU/ml
Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
Postmenopausal females: <9.5 mIU/ml

vallinnapod Thu 01-May-14 14:07:22

Sorry for all the stupid '?' they were '-' copied from an internet page

Hatteras Thu 01-May-14 14:11:15

I agree with val The important thing about the HCG levels is that they rise (I think it is double every 2-3 days). There is such a huge variance in HCG levels that numbers alone don't have much meaning, as long as they are over 5. The waiting is horrible though, I think I was in tears after my second HCG result and I worked out it hadn't quite doubled over 2 days.

When is the next blood test?

eurochick Thu 01-May-14 14:36:30

tame I know you were hoping for higher, but you are well within the pregnant range. Do you get a retest in 48 hrs to see what the levels are doing? My clinic didn't offer this as part of the IVF package but I requested it (and paid for it).

tametortie Thu 01-May-14 17:43:59

I am retesting on Saturday morning.

It's much lower than I wanted.

Going home from work to piss on a stick, weep and eat chocolate sad

tametortie Thu 01-May-14 17:45:21

Everyone I have spoken too (uk clinic, Czech clinic and gynae ward) have all said it's too low.

Gynae nurse said she would count it as a negative sad

eurochick Thu 01-May-14 17:56:16

tame I found somewhere online a study about HCG levels and outcomes. Yes, levels of 70+ are associated with more good outcomes, but there were plenty of good outcomes at the lower levels too. Don't give up on your bean just yet. x

talulahbelle Thu 01-May-14 18:57:29

I'm thinking about you and keeping everything crossed, I had stupidly faint tests and spotting and am now 28 weeks with an IVF pregnancy. It can work.

eurochick Fri 02-May-14 15:36:26

Me too. I hope you are doing ok, tame.
