Bleeding @ 11.5 weeks

I will be 11 weeks tomorrow and have had some light bleeding now for 24 hours, mostly brown and very slightly gooey discharge. Unable to see my own GP before Friday and desperately trying (and failing) to not freak out. Worth trying for a private scan? Not sure I can wait until next week... Any thoughts or experiences anyone has would be so helpful hmm

Do you have an early pregnancy unit near you? Sometimes you can self refer to them, or if not can you speak to your gp on the phone?

Not freaking out is easier said than done, I know, but chances are everything is completely fine x x

There are a few (I'm London based) but need GP referral - getting her on the phone is so difficult, I've left endless messages before but haven't had a call back. Extremely tempted to perhaps go private before I go mad.

I'm sure I've seen someone post on here about an EPU that you can just rock up at and self-refer. Did a quick Google and it looks like you can go to Guy's: [www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/our-services/gynaecology/early-pregnancy-acute-gynaecology.aspx Guy's & St Thomas EPU]]

Fingers crossed for you, it's a stressful thing.

Balls, sorry for fat-fingered link.

Thanks so much will give them a try. Am completely terrified of bad news - everything up until now had been going so well. I know that some bleeding early in doesn't necessarily signal MC but this is my first and everything is pretty scary x

Plenty of handholding here! Bleeding is so common and it doesn't always mean bad news by any means. Brown stuff and goo is more positive than red, but even then it's not always negative.

It's completely understandable that you're freaking out and probably nothing is going to really put your mind at rest except a scan, so if you can, try and go to Guy's EPU first thing tomorrow. In the meantime, impossible as it seems, distract yourself as best you can this evening. Watch telly or read, or whatever you favourite method of relaxing is.

Hang in there!

Thanks for the positive words! I'm actually at the hairdresser right now which if it doesn't take my mind of it nothing will. My OH is being amazing which almost makes it worse as I'm so worried about his disappointment too. But you're right, a scan is all that will ease my mind in the end, so will head down tomorrow x x

Hairdresser is good! Don't worry about OH, just let him support you - he clearly wants to, which is great. Will be thinking about you, let us know how you get on! x

Thanks so much. Will let you know how tomorrow goes x

I several bouts of bleeding before the 12 week scan , and went to the EPU at St Thomas' (http://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/our-services/gynaecology/early-pregnancy-acute-gynaecology.aspx) and was scanned every time - the nurses & midwives were amazingly kind and supportive….and am now 26 weeks and all is well :-). I would recommend going as early as possible in the day (they open at 8.30 AM) to avoid having to wait for hours. Take care and thinking of you xx

Yes definitely head to a walk in EPU and get reassurance. Hand holding...hope all is ok!
