39 weeks,.... Join me for final week(s) wait?

(133 Posts)
IBelieveInPink Sat 09-Nov-13 05:20:29

39 weeks today! Yay!
I'm kinda ready now though. Another week (possibly more) seems like such a long time, but baby is showing no signs at all of shifting, so I guess should probably get cosy for (yet another) 2 week wait?! Anyone fancy joining me to pass the time/pass tips on 'encouraging' baby to make a timely appearance?
Or on sleeping..... As you can see I'm not managing that too well either smile

Mondayschild78 Sat 09-Nov-13 08:14:04

Morning. I am also 39 weeks today! smile
Also no signs but did go out for a curry last night ha ha.
DC1 arrived on the due date so I have no idea about this one.

Is it your first? Are you disappointed by the lack of any signs? I am! Although the first time I had braxton hicks last time was the night before I went into actual labour.

IBelieveInPink Sat 09-Nov-13 08:38:06

Hi Monday!
Yes is going to be my first - a girl according to scans smile
Fab that your first dc arrived on time, how very prompt smile was it a surprise when baby just rocked up on the day he/she was supposed to??
Yeah I guess I am a little surprised at lack of signs - I thought there would be more to be honest.... But I guess that's just how this one is supposed to be!
Have you got plans for the next week? Or I guess dc1 is keeping you busy most of the time anyway?

HMT13 Sat 09-Nov-13 09:21:28

Bang on 39 weeks for me today too. Had 2 episodes of 'period pains' last week when I thought it was all starting (wishful thinking) but then nothing. 100% ready for the baby to arrive now. Not sleeping well at all, not that that will improve, I'm sure!
Nice to have some others on same date smile

Mondayschild78 Sat 09-Nov-13 14:26:02

Ooh nice there's a few of us on the same countdown!
I certainly did not expect DS to arrive on his due date no ha ha. As he was due mid month (like this one!) I had just told myself well anytime that month really but lo and behold 10am that day I went into labour and by 9pm he was born.

I am a little scared how quickly it could all happen this time and getting childcare sorted etc.

No major plans for next week - have a baby maybe ha! DS definitely keeps me busy and exhausted

How about you both - any plans for next week?

HMT13 Sat 09-Nov-13 17:04:55

No plans at all. Officially bored on maternity leave. Cleaned all cupboards out etc. DH keeps saying the house is clinically clean. Will just keep on top of it now.
Just making a raspberry leaf tea then will get on my gym ball for a bit of bouncing. I really thought I would be early but quickly losing hope of that now!

IBelieveInPink Sat 09-Nov-13 17:42:48

I have plans for every single day! Trying to stay as busy as possible, and invoke Sod's law that she will arrive on the most inconvenent day possible smile

Geneticsbunny Sun 10-Nov-13 06:50:30

I am 39 on Monday. Can I join in too? Few sporadic pains but I am hoping they hold off till I have recovered from this horrible stinking cold. Lots booked in for the next two weeks so I don't sit around thinking about it too much.

chillisbopper Sun 10-Nov-13 08:17:31

I'm only 37+2 (according to 12 wk scan...38+1 by my calculations lmp/date of conception etc) and it feels like forever away!!

I got myself all excited hearing of woman who didn't go past 38 wks and mws saying from 37 wks is fine but this little guy is showing ZERO signs of wanting to move any time soon...or maybe he is and I just don't know it lol this is my first!

Definitely having this lack of sleep issue, I can't get comfy to save my life hmm I so miss sleeping on my stomach. If I lay on one side too long I promptly get a kick in the ribs and have to turn over again grin.

I felt like the first 35 wks just flew by but since then time has seriously slowed down, I completely empathise with your impatience at 39 wks! I plan to keep incredibly busy (well as busy as my awful pelvis will allow anyways) that way I figure either the activity will help speed things along or maybe he'll just decide to make an appearance just to interfere with plans (hopefully ones that involve the in laws grin). Or at the very least perhaps keeping busy will help the time stop passing so slow!

Hopefully you'll not have to wait too much longer, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you ladies, it won't be long and we'll all have happy news to share smile thanks xx

HMT13 Sun 10-Nov-13 08:43:55

Completely agree with the 35 weeks going quickly! And now time is standing still. Miss sleeping on my front so much too. Seriously don't know what I would have done without my pregnancy pillow.
Managed a half decent sleep last night for a change. Going out with the dogs and DH in a while to try and get something going. Then back on the ball for the day!

IBelieveInPink Sun 10-Nov-13 14:41:41

Genetics- ooh pains are exciting! Are you jumping at every twinge like I am? smile

Chilli - I did the same, got all excited at 37 weeks thinking 'any day now' and I'm slowly realising it's just not going to happen. She will be late. Doesn't help that the messages ever single morning of 'any sign yet' have been going for a week now!

Unfortunately I have felt like every day of this pregnancy has been the longest ever - had a bit of a rocky start - so the whole way has literally been jumping milestone to milestone. Time dragging is nothing new, but can't wait til she here safe.

Just off to the shops for supplies of curry, pineapple, and whatever else I can find that may get things started!

princesscupcakemummyb Sun 10-Nov-13 16:43:16

aww good luck to you both its hard to belive i was you 2 not long ago my lil boy is now 1 week old tomorrow time went so quick he was born at 40+2 enjoy ladies wont be long smile

Geneticsbunny Sun 10-Nov-13 17:40:32

ibelieveinpink yes I am. Had three contractions the other evening but then they stopped. My friend who has had 4 gave me some very sage advise which I am sticking to... If you think labour is starting go to bed and get some sleep, it will either stop if the baby is just mucking around, if not at least you will have had a half hour nap.

I am just concentrating on the fact that the baby will definitely be here in 3 weeks time. Seems less stressful like that.

whereareyougoingmylittleone Sun 10-Nov-13 20:48:30

Hello hello! I am 39 weeks exactly today too. May I join please? Congrats Princess, just read your birth story! Wow. Hoping this one ( my second) makes a more relaxed ( but timely!) appearance... Dd1 was 10 days overdue. Good luck to all and let's hope things get moving soon. Don't want to have to wait til the full moon on the 17th ;)

IBelieveInPink Mon 11-Nov-13 17:43:12

Little one - that's funny you mention the full moon - that's what my mum said too!
Any signs from anyone? I had a few cramps about an hour ago - hardly even progressed to more than a twinge so I'm guessing nothing. I really reckon it's going to be sometime mid next week - I wonder how accurate just going on instinct on this? Hmm

HMT13 Mon 11-Nov-13 19:14:34

Had a lot of twinges last night. Really thought something was going to happen but it all eased off by the end of downton abbey! Nothing today over than 2 piercing pains in my pubic bone about an hour ago which nearly made me yell. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for weds as my lucky number is 13. Anyone else?

jpy1989 Tue 12-Nov-13 10:11:30

I was due on Sunday so I'm 40+2 today and still no sign!! Had a few regular pains for 2 days last week I thought yes this us it!! but then nothing, keep getting the odd pain here and there have tried all the old wives tales but this baby is staying put!! Really hope it happens soon I've loved been preggo and don't want to start hating it!!! really don't want to be induced so still thing everything!!

HMT13 Tue 12-Nov-13 10:17:08

I feel same as you jpy. Just been to my midwife appointment. All looks as it should, just want something to happen now. She just told me to keep bouncing on my ball! Fingers crossed for us all. Really want to avoid a sweep and definitely being induced.

jpy1989 Tue 12-Nov-13 10:27:02

Glad everything is looking good! It's nice to know/think baby is getting ready! Yeah sweep doesn't sound to good i am back again on Thursday and that's the plan if baby hasn't come by then! I've been bouncing on my ball too especially if I get Any twinges for some reason if I get a pain I bounce like mad convinced its going to happen!! I know ill regret saying it but I'm starting to get bored! Everything is ready and I've got nothing left to do feels like a bit of a waiting game, just trying to keep myself busy while hubby is at work!

HMT13 Tue 12-Nov-13 10:37:27

That's exactly how I feel. Bored! We live away from family and friends so don't have anyone to visit/meet etc apart from a few ladies, and they all work. It's getting tedious. Going to bake this afternoon to pass the time. But then I'll just get fatter from eating cake!
Is this your first baby? I have no idea what I'm looking out for pain wise. Although I'm sure I'll know once the time comes!

jpy1989 Tue 12-Nov-13 11:07:12

Yeah this is my first! Guessing it is yours too!! I know what you mean about the pains and stuff I'm the same but everyone just says you will know! I've done all my 'catching up' with friends and getting jobs done and stocked up on everything just incase the baby came early but now I'm sort of at a loose end not wanting to go too far just incase!! Atleast that by the end of next week I will hopefully have a baby!!!

IBelieveInPink Tue 12-Nov-13 11:14:13

Hi ladies. No movement here either! Just had midwife appointment- she is now 3/5 engaged, more than last time but not really enough yet is it! Booked in for a sweep next week - hopefully won't get to that but I suspect I will.
I know what you mean about not wanting to hate it. I have loved everything from 20 week scan onwards (was very worried early on due to previous miscarriages) so want all the happy memories to carry on. Come on babies!!!

whereareyougoingmylittleone Tue 12-Nov-13 11:47:00

Whoops, posted too soon. I don't actually remember what labour felt like last time ( despite it being only 18 months ago) but my first was back to back so it was mainly horrendous back pain. Apparently normal labour is more along the bump and period- like pains so it's sort if all new to me too. No twinges or anything yet though. Sigh. Off to the cinema now, hoping my waters don't break and I ruin the seat. Actually what do I care as long as things get started ;)

HMT13 Tue 12-Nov-13 13:02:02

Pink, mine is only 3/5 too. Midwife said any level of engagement is fine as long as the head's not moving round?! More than last time anyway.
Ah well, we all sound like we're in the dark with what we're looking out for. Nature needs to get a wriggle on!

Mondayschild78 Tue 12-Nov-13 16:28:30

Hi all good to see a few more on here also waiting, definitely helps to know there's a few of us feeling similarly in limbo!

No signs here but as this is my second I am actually enjoying the two days DS is at nursery and doing things I haven't done in a long time like reading, shopping at a leisurely pace, having time ON MY OWN ha ha grin

Wonder how many of us will have our babies with the full moon.. Could be interesting...

Keep us updated with any early labour signs.

Hotmad Tue 12-Nov-13 16:55:09

I'm 39 weeks now too! I don't know why but I got feeling she won't come out until at least after my due date.... I've got no signs whatsoever and I feel pretty good!! I try and walk daily for at least 30 mins to hour just locally now, that and drinking raspberry leaf tea! Good luck everyone

IBelieveInPink Wed 13-Nov-13 08:10:52

Morning all. Exciting happenings, waters broke yesterday evening. Contractions started through the night, but nothing strong or regular enough yet. Just enough to stop me sleeping! Looks like baby on her way though smile

HMT13 Wed 13-Nov-13 08:13:15

Oooh! Keep us updated (if u can)!
How are u feeling now? Did the waters just come from nowhere? There's hope for the rest of us then smile

IBelieveInPink Wed 13-Nov-13 08:16:13

Yeah literally got up from a nap on the sofa and felt a trickle! Which carried on to a bit more of a trickle. Popped in to hospital to get checked last night, and if these contractions don't turn into something more, will go in tonight to be induced. Eek!

HMT13 Wed 13-Nov-13 08:43:04

I'll be thinking about u today! Good that they are keeping an eye on u. Hope things get moving naturally. So either way you'll have your baby very soon! So exciting smile

Geneticsbunny Wed 13-Nov-13 08:53:33

Ooh exciting pink hope you managed to get some sleep. I assume your OH is flapping around like a mother hen! Mine always feels like a bit of a loose end I think. Don't forget to download one of those contraction apps to help you monitor when they are and how long they last.

whereareyougoingmylittleone Wed 13-Nov-13 08:55:15

Ooh, good luck Pink! Please do keep us updated, will be thinking of you!

whereareyougoingmylittleone Wed 13-Nov-13 08:59:03

Monday, just wanted to add I feel exactly the same way as you the 3 days my toddler is at nursery- cinema yesterday was the first time I'd been in 8 months! Sadly today is not a nursery day, but we're off to the park so hopefully a bit of exercise might spur those contractions on. Fingers crossed for us all.

Mondayschild78 Wed 13-Nov-13 10:48:26

Oooh pink good luck! Very exciting. Stay active to get those contractions coming along nicely.

whereareyou that made me smile. I can just imagine what a treat it was to go to the cinema ha ha. It isn't a nursery day for us today either but we are currently at a playgroup hoping my waters don't break and will go for a walk later in the sunshine I think.

I'm also waiting to hear from my best friend who is having her 12 week scan with her first baby today!

jpy1989 Wed 13-Nov-13 17:01:52

ooo that is so exciting pink fingers crossed it will happen soon!!!!good luck!!!! but im also jealous!!! i want something to start!! seeing the hospital midwife tomorrow for my term plus app i will be 40+4 so we will see what happens.....think i can guess a stretch and sweep is going to be on the agenda but who knows.Been bouncing on my ball all afternoon and getting hubby to take me for a walk this evening just to try and get things moving, the endless phone calls and messages asking if there is any news yet are just starting to get on my nerves a little bit now!!!!

HMT13 Wed 13-Nov-13 22:35:20

Thinking of pink! Hope things are going well. I've just lost my plug so fingers crossed something will happen soon - although I've been reading it doesn't necessarily mean labour is started. Here's hoping so! Anyone lost theirs and started anytime soon afterwards?

whereareyougoingmylittleone Thu 14-Nov-13 03:24:20

HMT- excellent news, things are at least vaguely starting for you! I know sometimes it can take a few days post- 'show' ( I always want to do jazz hands whenever it is referred to that way...) but for me last time I had the baby about 11 hours afterwards (granted I'd been having a lot of contractions first so the plug was one of the later signs of advanced labour).

Pink, any news...?

Monday, hope you are getting a rest today! It's another nursery day for me so I have a day of lounging and reading planned. Bliss. Feel so far removed from my old life of commuting and mad dashes for nursery pickups. I will savour the next 6 months provided this little one is slightly less if a screamer than the first.

HMT13 Thu 14-Nov-13 07:26:25

I had some tightenings til about 11.30 then thought I'd better try and sleep. Woke up with some pains but they eased off and now nothing. Will just have to sit tight!
That's exciting that you had your first 11 hours after. Gives me some hope it could be in the next few days rather than another week.
I assume pink will have had her little girl now! smile

Mondayschild78 Thu 14-Nov-13 08:35:14

HMT Sounds like it won't be long for you as I believe most people do go into labour within a few days of a 'show'. Last time I had the show on the Saturday night, Braxton hicks all of Sunday night then went into proper labour on the Monday morning. Good luck!

whereareyou Woo hoo another nursery day here too. Although we have workmen coming for the day thanks DH and a friend is coming as she wants some help with interview prep so not a very relaxing day! Hope you have a nice chilled day.

Had some very mild period type pains yesterday but just sporadic and not the waves of labour so I guess either BH, back ache or wind blush

Hope you all have a good day. Looks like we will start getting birth announcements soon smile

HMT13 Thu 14-Nov-13 09:33:35

Fingers crossed Mondayschild! Just had some more come away so something's going on. Going to get cleaning up. Just done the oven and also bought a shed load of beef yesterday to make a big stew to freeze. So better get that done so it's not wasted!
Good luck everyone. Hope we hear from pink soon!

IBelieveInPink Thu 14-Nov-13 10:15:41

Bumbolina Thu 14-Nov-13 10:24:46

I was 39 weeks yesterday - can I join you all? Have a midwife appointment in about 40 minutes so should be able to find out if I'm engaged at all smile

Dd came at 40+6 - after a hot bath and a glass of wine grin

whereareyougoingmylittleone Thu 14-Nov-13 10:26:35

Right, one more time. Congrats Pink! So pleased for you... So sorry it was a bit of a rough experience though, please do share later if you feel up to it. The main thing is you are all fine and you have your gorgeous little girl! Hope you manage to get some rest and everyone us looking after you after all you've been through. Sending lots of love and congratulations xxx

whereareyougoingmylittleone Thu 14-Nov-13 10:27:58

And welcome Bumbolina! Yes, join the waiting party! Good luck at your appointment! xx

Mondayschild78 Thu 14-Nov-13 10:33:58

Aah big congrats pink and glad to hear you are both doing ok.

HMT it sounds like you might be next!

Welcome Bumbolina - bath and wine sounds good, might try that later ha ha wink

HMT13 Thu 14-Nov-13 11:14:09

Congratulations pink! So glad it all turned out ok. You must be so relieved!
Hi bumbolina, I'm trying your plan later with the bath and wine if nothing else happens!
Scary thinking things could actually start. I've spent all this last week moaning at how fed up I am. When I realise things may actually be getting going I start to panic!!! confused

Bumbolina Fri 15-Nov-13 08:42:16

I recommend a bath and wine to all my heavily pregnant friends - it has actually worked for two of them grin Even if it doesn't work - is a brilliant way to spend the days prior to a newborn.

Midwife appointment went ok, baby has turned and is now back to back (ouch). Also, head that was 2/5th engaged is now only 4/5th engaged... but that at least means there is more chance of baby having a swim around and turning round a bit before it starts grin

Mondayschild78 Fri 15-Nov-13 13:12:38

Ooh ouch on the back to back bumbolina Hope baby turns ok! I think there's positions you can sit in to help but not sure what they are, did the midwife say?

It's my due date tomorrow and strangely today I am feeling full of energy and really well!

MIL coming over this aft to entertain DS so I will get a bit of a break too woo hoo.

Hope everyone else is having a baby good day! smile

whereareyougoingmylittleone Fri 15-Nov-13 19:16:57

Hello all... Right, I've had a bath with a half glass of wine, last night I had a curry, been for lots of long walks. Where is this baby? I thought second babies were supposed to be early?!
Bumbolina, my first was back to back- they recommend bouncing on a birthing ball a lot and getting down on hands and knees and scrubbing the floor ( I avoided the cleaning aspect but tried to get down on all fours a bit). I didn't have a birthing ball then though. Hopefully baby will rotate though!
Monday, looks like we may have to wait for the full moon after all or later, eeeek.

jpy1989 Sat 16-Nov-13 13:11:37

Morning ladies not been on for a couple of days....do went for stretch and sweep Thursday morning and was already 3cm!!! Think the long walk to the pub and boincing all afternoon on the ball helped! Had the odd cramp here and there during the day. Then at 1am got woken up contractions every 8mins then they went to every 4 mins just like that! Rung labour ward they said to stay home as it was my first baby it would be hours yet! Gave in at 4am and told them I was on my way even if they just check me out and send me home, got there and to everyone's surprise I was 9cm!!! Baby Harriet Kate arrived at 5.34am!!!!! Just a bit of gas and air and quite a bit of shouting!!! Bloody painful but so worth it! Got to go home at lunchtime the same say aswel!! So ladies first babies can come quick too!! 4 1/2 hours from start to finish the midwives couldn't believe it!!! I'm very lucky it didn't last long!! Xx

HMT13 Sat 16-Nov-13 13:17:05

Oh you're giving me hope jpy! I'm having contractions between 4-6 mins now. Waters went last night.
Going to ring and go in in next few hours I think.
Congratulations smilesmilesmile

whereareyougoingmylittleone Sat 16-Nov-13 15:26:15

Oh huge congrats JPY! That is amazing and well d

whereareyougoingmylittleone Sat 16-Nov-13 15:30:28

Well done on getting to 9cm with just breathing!! So impressive. Hope you are having a lovely family weekend at home.
HMT, please do keep us posted! Sounds like you are almost there! Very good luck, will be thinking of you.
I thought today would be the day as I had some decent contractions last night after my wine and bath, but alas they have stopped completely. I am resigning myself to being overdue again. Feeling quite grumpy. sad

HMT13 Sat 16-Nov-13 17:07:58

Just back from my examination, 3cm so home again until contractions are closer and more painful. Finding it ok so far just uncomfortable. Was secretly hoping to be further along but midwife was quite impressed for a first baby after this long? Unless she was just trying to make me feel better...

jpy1989 Sat 16-Nov-13 17:33:23

Thanks everyone!!! But welldone ladies!! Looks like a lot of us will be having our babies before the weekend is out!! It bloody hurts but I'm already forgetting it!!!!! Just remember your breathing techniques it really helped me through and my midwives and hubby were amazing. Hmt13, 3cm is really good going definitely having a baby soon!!! Keep us updated!!!! And good luck!!!! Still feeling very emotional smile Xxxx

Mondayschild78 Sat 16-Nov-13 19:23:28

Ahh congrats jpy glad to hear your baby has arrived safely.

Good luck hmt it sounds like it won't be long until you meet your baby. Keep us updated.

where you have my support, its my due date today too and no signs whatsoever! DS was born on his due date last time so unless this one is born in the next two hours I'm officially later than last time, which is surprising since everyone tells you they often come earlier second time.

Roll on the full moon I say! wink

HMT13 Sat 16-Nov-13 19:27:38

Aw Mondayschild u never know! Things could get going for you. If you'd have said my waters were going to last night id have said no way.
I hope the next 7 cms don't take as long as the first 3!

ushuaia Sat 16-Nov-13 19:33:22

Do you mind if I join as well? I'm 39+5, due on Monday. Am getting very impatient now, this last week has completely dragged! Will have a sweep on Thursday if no sign but really don't want it to come to that!

Mondayschild78 Sat 16-Nov-13 19:35:55

Thanks hmt you are right of course, it could just start any time! I am doing ok, I guess I cannot help but compare it to last time when I had already had a number of very early signs and then DS born bang on time.

I hope you keep progressing ok and meet baby soon. So exciting! smile

Mondayschild78 Sat 16-Nov-13 19:38:11

Hi ushuaia and welcome! Is it your first baby and do you know if you're having a boy or girl? Any early signs so far?

HMT13 Sat 16-Nov-13 19:59:27

Am I right in thinking this next stage goes quicker than the first 3cm? Or am I just making that up to make myself feel better? The contractions are getting a lot stronger! confused

Mondayschild78 Sat 16-Nov-13 20:18:29

Hi hmt yes I think it definitely goes quicker because you are in established labour. Sounds like it's all going well!

HMT13 Sat 16-Nov-13 21:51:42

I'm ringing in. Got to 4 min contractions but they are getting really strong. Think I need to try this gas and air thing!
Good luck everyone grin

Bumbolina Sun 17-Nov-13 00:19:09

Good luck HMT!!

HMT13 Sun 17-Nov-13 00:53:09

They wouldn't have me til I get to 3 mins contractions unless I'm totally desperate. Everything seems to have stalled. Contractions are about 7 mins now sad looking more like induction tomorrow confused

whereareyougoingmylittleone Sun 17-Nov-13 00:54:46

HMT13 Sun 17-Nov-13 01:37:52

Haven't had anything for over 30 mins now. Knew things were going too well. Argh!

Mondayschild78 Sun 17-Nov-13 09:05:58

Still no sign today but finding it physically hard to do much. DH is hopefully taking DS out for a walk so I can have a bit of peace and quiet wink

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend.

whereareyougoingmylittleone Sun 17-Nov-13 10:32:34

No signs for me today either Monday. Sunday's child rhyme looks so appealing too! ;) DH has also taken DD out ideally so he can receive a panicked phone call that he needs to come home immediately and rush me to hospital so I can finish up the last remaining project I wanted to complete before birth.

Yes it's my first Monday, having a girl. Lots of tightenings and couple of sharp pains but no real signs sad walked around all yesterday arvo and managed to get 8 hrs sleep, the most I've had in about 7 months so lots more energy today! Soooo bored of waiting now! Hope you have a nice chilled day. Good luck HMT!

HMT13 Sun 17-Nov-13 11:57:29

Just waiting for a bed and then will be induced. Managed an hours sleep too as didn't have a contraction! Feeling good. Just hope it goes quickly once it's in.
Anyone else starting with anything?

whereareyougoingmylittleone Sun 17-Nov-13 18:23:28

Right, I'm off outside to stand under full moon. Does it matter that it is too cloudy to see it??

Mondayschild78 Sun 17-Nov-13 19:43:41

Hi all, feeling a bit grumpy and in limbo today. Have achey hips and back but no labour signs grrrr

where sounds like you are feeling pretty similar! You did make me grin with your comment about standing under the full moon ha ha

Yes! Baby boy arrived at 6am, after 52hours in labour. Had to be induced at the end to speed me up due to waters breaking 48 hours before. Pretty horrendous up until being induced. Now just totally in love! Good luck everyone, will keep an eye on you smile

whereareyougoingmylittleone Mon 18-Nov-13 18:56:08

Congrats hmt! That is amazing news- so sorry it took so long though... Hope you have a good recovery and your lovely little boy is allowing you some rest!
Still nothing here- had a sweep this morning but somehow not feeling that it will have any effect. Sigh.
Monday, did the full moon work for you?

Mondayschild78 Mon 18-Nov-13 20:16:13

Aah massive congrats hmt and enjoy your lovely new arrival

Nothing happening here wheres sadly except baby went very quiet today so I went and got monitored. All seems fine so hopefully they are resting and conserving energy as they are thinking about making an appearance.

Good luck to you following your sweep! I have a midwife appointment tomorrow with possible sweep if I want it but I'm not sure if I do really.

Bumbolina Mon 18-Nov-13 21:33:24

Congrats HMT!

Still nothing here...

Mondayschild78 Tue 19-Nov-13 09:49:22

Morning all. Woke up with some very mild period pain at 2am which came and went for an hour and a half. Then nothing since so I'm guessing just braxton hicks?!

DS has a bad cough and cold and wants cuddles and I felt bad taking him to nursery today but also a little relieved in case things actually start to happen.

How is everyone else today?

Mondayschild78 Tue 19-Nov-13 09:50:51

That should read 'period type pain' not actual period pain, now that really would be weird at this point!

whereareyougoingmylittleone Tue 19-Nov-13 09:54:38

Hello all, just checking in. Glad baby showed up on monitor Monday... That must have been scary. Still, they are indeed supposed to go a bit quieter the day before labour? Hope your appointment goes okay today. My sweep was a bit painful but not too bad. Though it was a 'successful' sweep ( meaning mw could actually do it) she said I was only 1.5 cm dilated, which may be the amount I've been dilated since dd1's birth anyway, and baby's head still had a way to go. Like you, I am achy, grumpy and feel in limbo. So want the bang to arrive today!
Good luck to all still waiting and please cheer me up with some birth stories? xx

whereareyougoingmylittleone Tue 19-Nov-13 10:00:41

Cross- post Monday... I am very attentive to every twinge now too but they just lead to nothing it seems. It's a nursery day for dd1 as well and I feel terrible that I was happy to see her go as she has been a nightmare the past few days with multiple tantrums... It's like she knows I have very very little patience. Sigh. Can't imagine she will improve with the arrival of a sibling to steal her parents' attention. Oh dear.

Mondayschild78 Tue 19-Nov-13 10:34:02

Ah where I am going through the same thing with DS. He definitely has some awareness of baby coming and that things are going to change so he's feeling a bit insecure i think. Plus probably his age means he is pushing boundaries more and the fact I'm finding it physically difficult to do as much with him isn't helping. It's hard not to feel guilty and apprehensive about everything.

On a positive note I have a few friends who have had their second DC recently with similar age gaps and things do seem to be settling down a bit for them now after about 6-8 weeks so it won't be forever.

Hope you have a good day ahead. I'm going to do some online Christmas shopping smile

PumpkinPie2013 Tue 19-Nov-13 13:44:30

Congrats hmt and fingers crossed things progress for you monday

Thought I'd pop onto this thread now as 39 weeks today smile

DC1 - been getting odd aches/pains over the last few days plus feeling queazy and lots of poking pains in my cervix but trying to accept I'll go over.

Good luck to all - here's to lots of babies arriving soon xx

Mondayschild78 Tue 19-Nov-13 19:37:51

Hello Pumpkin nice to see you have joined us smile Sounds like you've had more going on than I have so you may well end up being early or on time!

Had Midwife appointment today and found out my blood pressure is slightly high and there was a bit of blood in my urine so she has sent for testing in case I have an infection. Then DS was sick at nursery so I had to go and pick him up early.

It hasn't been a very relaxing day!

Bumbolina Tue 19-Nov-13 23:03:49

Wine and chocolate.. can't hurt right!

Mondayschild78 Wed 20-Nov-13 05:25:28

grin Good plan Bumbolina

How is everyone? No sign of baby here

Bumbolina Wed 20-Nov-13 06:53:23

Gave me nothing but leg cramp grin

Happy due date to meeee today!

How is everyone else getting on?? Any twinges?

whereareyougoingmylittleone Wed 20-Nov-13 08:49:43

Don't want to jinx this, but twinges since 4am... It's my birthday today too so it would be a nice present not to be pregnant anymore. Hope things start moving for everyone today! Will keep you posted! x

Bumbolina Wed 20-Nov-13 09:19:14

Good luck Where! Hope the twinges get stronger, and that eventually you sneeze and the baby appears grin

PumpkinPie2013 Wed 20-Nov-13 09:31:35

Thanks monday smile

Bumbolina sounds tempting - may have to try it!

Where exciting times!! Hope it progresses for you smile

I'm feeling crappy today sad spent the whole night feeling sickly and mild aches. Still feel sick this morning and had quite loose bowels (sorry for TMI). Still feel like I have a mild ache in my lower bump but nothing major.

Stuff I should be doing but really can't be arsed lol grin
so just chilling on the sofa/my birthing ball and pretending the ironing pile no longer exists!!

Seeing mw tomorrow so that will be a trip out.

Hope everyone's ok x

Mondayschild78 Wed 20-Nov-13 10:14:19

Ooh good luck where and Happy Birthday too cake

And happy due date Bumbolina

I've taken DS to playgroup. Thought its a sure fire way to inspire my waters to break grin

Hope everyone else has a good day!

Bumbolina Wed 20-Nov-13 20:40:58

You've all gone quiet! Is everyone off having babies apart from me?!

Mondayschild78 Wed 20-Nov-13 21:24:35

Sadly not! I'm still around with very little going on. A few mild aches but no real signs.

How are you feeling Bumbolina?

Hope you are ok where and baby has made an appearance.

Bumbolina Wed 20-Nov-13 21:47:06

Went for a long walk (shopping) with my Mum today. Have had a few twinges this evening so hoping it has helped the baby drop. My toddler has been an absolute bugger this evening though so any oxytocin would have flown out of my system and replaced with frustration and anger! (She's only just fallen asleep... I'm still sat next to her).

whereareyougoingmylittleone Thu 21-Nov-13 13:43:26

Hi all, Well, all twinges disappeared at 9pm last night. So I'm still with you girls. My toddler is now also ill so not at nursery and is having a right strop whenever I try to do anything for her ( feed, change, entertain, etc.) Ah, the joys eh? I have now resigned myself to being induced December 1st. I haven't really, just hoping my martyr-like insistence a provoke my waters to break later today. grin
Welcome pumpkin and hope your toddler feels better today Bumbolina. Monday, hope your mild aches are now full-fledged labour!

Mondayschild78 Thu 21-Nov-13 15:15:25

Hi where hope you had a nice birthday at least?
Sounds like you are having a similar day to how I was on Tuesday with a poorly toddler.

No sign of anything here yet but I am feeling pretty restless and fed up with everyone and everything today. Do you think that's a sign? grin

Been bouncing on my yoga ball but it only really led to increased back aches and pain but not the good labour kind

Right off to the supermarket, DH says we are definitely having a curry tonight and lots of sex wink

PumpkinPie2013 Thu 21-Nov-13 16:15:51

Sorry the twinges have stopped where hopefully they will start up again soon! and hope all poorly toddlers are better soon!

I've been to mw and head is fully engaged - getting lots of poking pains in cervix and feels like baby is grinding in my pelvis hmm still getting some aches in pelvic area as well - felt it overnight but then settled again

Baby still measuring 90th centile.

Keeping fingers crossed for me and everyone else that these babies make an appearance soon! X

PumpkinPie2013 Fri 22-Nov-13 07:54:49

How are we all today?

I slept slightly better though still got up 50 a few times for a wee angry

Also had some aching in my pelvis and what I think was one period type cramp.

Telling myself these are signs!

Going to try to keep busy today so I don't sit thinking about it smile

Mondayschild78 Fri 22-Nov-13 14:20:38

Hi Pumpkin not much going on here either, now 6 days overdue and all I've had is a bit of pelvic pain and mild period type pain, similar to what you describe ie. more constant pain than contractions.

The hospital I am due to go to is next to a football stadium and there is a home game on tomorrow. We are feeling quite nervous about this! It will be just our luck especially if I take the midwife up on her offer of a sweep tomorrow

2Labradors Fri 22-Nov-13 17:42:43

Hiya can I join officially, am 39 weeks today.

This is my 3rd, both my other 2 were overdue. This time though, I've been having some cramps over the past few days although not really painful or regular. I also had what I think is a show last night, although I've bled on and off during this pregnancy so again I'm not convinced anything is going to happen soon.

My other 2 labours started after I had a sweep (both less than a week overdue) but as they're 10 & 7 the procedures have changed and I can't have a sweep until 41 weeks now, so that's 2 weeks away! If it was my 1st though they would do a sweep at 40 weeks apparently.

Think I might bounce a bit on my ball to see if these crampy feelings vamp up a bit, I'm feeling nervous about labour at the same time though.

whereareyougoingmylittleone Fri 22-Nov-13 17:49:02

Nothing going on here either Pumpkin and Monday. Sigh. Good luck with home game traffic tomorrow Monday... Sounds like a good way to tempt fate though!
I have a mw appointment on Monday to have a 2nd sweep/ arrange induction. Sigh. I know there are lots of induction horror stories but I had a 32 week scan that measured the baby as being quite large ( 98th percentile head too! Eeeek!) so I am sort of keen not to leave it cooking any longer than absolutely necessary. Also getting very very frustrated not being able to do more than walk around the block without horrible pain.
Once again heading into evening really hoping everything suddenly starts but slowly losing hope day by day. I was so excited a few weeks ago! Seems a shame I am just starting to feel numb about the whole thing. How are you all coping?!

whereareyougoingmylittleone Fri 22-Nov-13 17:53:27

Sorry, cross post! Welcome 2Labradors! You sound much further on than me with your show- bet you beat us all.
You have also disproved my previous theory that those with subsequent children have them earlier and earlier. So, based on your experience, if was 10 days over with my first then I am likely to be similar with my second? 5 more days then... Argh!

ushuaia Fri 22-Nov-13 18:15:16

Still no signs here. 40+4 today sad mw attempted a sweep yesterday but said she couldn't 'reach'. Had lots of period-like pain for an hour last night with about 7 contractions which all lasted a minute or so, got my hopes up but then nothing! Have another sweep booked tomorrow but am not holding out much hope! (big sigh).

Mondayschild78 Fri 22-Nov-13 18:31:03

Ha glad I'm not the only one feeling thoroughly grumpy and fed up! where I've been mainly coping by eating far too much crap like crisps and chocolate and running around after my toddler. A good friend came over for a cuppa and that helped break up the day too. Hope you are doing ok?

Been having period type pain again all day which is niggly but I'm not convinced it's going anywhere fast since its been on and off since Monday.

Welcome 2labradors and I agree with where that having your show is a good sign and you probably will end up having yours pretty soon! Also I think that the sweep on offer could be because your next appointment is at 41 weeks not 40 (which is the case for second time mums in my area)? If you book an appointment for 40 weeks then they will probably offer you a sweep at that? I did as I booked the wrong week oops and the midwife did offer.

Mondayschild78 Fri 22-Nov-13 18:32:40

Ushuaia good luck for your sweep tomorrow. I'm having one too as I'm seeing the midwife for a blood pressure check up as well. Maybe there will be babies on the way this time tomorrow!

ushuaia Fri 22-Nov-13 19:29:47

Oh I hope so Monday! It's so frustrating isn't it? Good luck to you too smile

Bumbolina Fri 22-Nov-13 20:07:36

I'm still here fed up waiting patiently.

2Labradors Fri 22-Nov-13 23:15:07

Thanks for the welcome.

where my 1st baby was 5 days overdue, then my 2nd was 6 days over (although only just as he was born just after midnight) so I've been expecting to go to around the same time, but with the cramps & show I thought it was all starting but nothing much else seems to have happened.

monday I asked for an earlier sweep & appointment, and my consultant had actually put 'sweep at 39/40' in my notes, but my midwife said that as this isn't my 1st I can't have one until 41 weeks. It feels ages away. Good luck for your sweep tomorrow.

ushuaia good luck for your sweep tomorrow too

Bumbolina Sat 23-Nov-13 07:18:20

I'm still here but starting to get more and more uncomfortable and feel a bit queasy. I might just need to poo though grin

It'd be good if you came today baby - a weekend birth is very practical!

Mondayschild78 Sat 23-Nov-13 07:33:24

Fingers crossed for some babies today!

Thinking of you all and hoping things start to happen.

PumpkinPie2013 Sat 23-Nov-13 13:56:25

Meh felt really sick again this morning (was actually heaving into the loo but nothing coming up) sorry for TMI blush

Eased off again now - had a few more poking pains in cervix/random aches but nothing much to shout about. Been doing some OU work to keep my mind off things smile

Had 2 messages today with 'any signs?' - oh just go away lol We'll let you know when it happens!

My feet are so swollen as well - keep elevating them and sitting with them in a bowl of cold water (which is what I'm doing now).

Think I may resort to communicating with DH and MN only until it happens!

We need some babies to appear soon don't we?! X

ushuaia Sat 23-Nov-13 14:50:08

Another unsuccessful sweep sad closed up like a clam apparently! Going to have an induction booked for next Saturday - hope it doesn't come to that as it means no low risk birth unit or pool.

How have you got on Monday?
Pumpkin I know what you mean about the messages from people - am sure we will let them know when anything happens! With great pleasure!

Anyway mw has instructed me to have wine and curry tonight so that's abit of excitement. She 's also told me to have sex and walk up the stairs sideways!

PumpkinPie2013 Sat 23-Nov-13 16:10:55

Aww ushuaia sorry your sweep was unsuccessful sad

Indulge in the wine, curry and sex (if you feel like it).

Not tried walking upstairs sideways but might give it a go myself smile

Do you have a ball to bounce on? Might be worth a go if you haven't already. I got an ordinary gym ball in tesco for £5.

Fingers crossed things start before next saturday - still a week so there is time x

Mondayschild78 Sat 23-Nov-13 16:30:36

Hi Ushuia sorry to hear your sweep wasn't fruitful, mine wasn't either and midwife said cervix still very closed and far back and it doesn't look like baby coming anytime soon.

My plan B is actually now a C Section over Induction due to having had a third degree tear with DS. I feel a bit in shock as I really really didn't think it would come to that. DS was born on his due date, my cycle has always been like clockwork and very predictable etc etc. I don't know if the fact my blood pressure is still a bit high is affecting my ability to go into labour. Who knows?! sad

Feeling crappy today as got little sleep, have a cold and just generally feeling fed up about the whole thing.

I hope someone else can come and cheer us up with stories of babies being born soon.

PumpkinPie2013 Sat 23-Nov-13 17:12:00

Sorry to hear that Monday sad

It's worse when you sleep badly as well sad

Mondayschild78 Sat 23-Nov-13 17:28:44

Thanks Pumpkin it was good to have a little rant wink Hope you are feeling better? I know what you mean about the annoying texts too. I had a lot around my due date but they've subsided slightly now, maybe people are too scared to ask lol!

Bumbolina Sun 24-Nov-13 04:03:49

Hi everyone! I had a little baby boy this afternoon at 12.10 after a very speedy 4 hour labour.
We're not having a great first night - toddler has woken up with first cry, little man having slept all afternoon is now telling me he wants milk then slyly falling asleep on me instead.
But to top it all off the angel are monitor is picking up SOMEONE ELSES CHILD and we CAN'T TURN THE BLOODY THING OFF!!!!!!

Mondayschild78 Sun 24-Nov-13 05:29:03

Ahh congratulations Bumbolina that's great news your little one has arrived! smile

I have the same monitor and sometimes have that issue too although it usually rectifies by changing to a different channel.

Hope you all manage to get some rest.

whereareyougoingmylittleone Mon 25-Nov-13 04:01:10

Congrats Bumbolina! That's amazing news- hope the toddler starts blocking out the baby's cries soon so it all becomes a big more peaceful at yours soon. I am wondering how my 19 month old will cope with lots more noise at night soon. Not well I think!
So sorry you are feeling so fed up Ushuaia, Pumpkin and Monday and sweeps aren't working. I was very demoralised after my sweep last Monday ( which was at 40 weeks by the way, so Im not sure if different midwives just have totally different rules?!) Was even more low after false labour on Wednesday and was too depressed to even post at the weekend. Officially 41+1 today but amazingly ( and very suddenly) things seem to have started off now ( read: ouch) but I've been sent home from hospital twice now for not progressing enough to be admitted. Fully remembering the horrible labour pains from last time now. Just hope this one is quick. 4 hours would have been nice but already too late for that! So there is hope, even when it feels like induction is inevitable.
More soon. x

PumpkinPie2013 Mon 25-Nov-13 10:52:47

Aww congratulations Bumbolina grin

I'm just at hospital - waters have gone grin

Off home soon to wait for things to progress but looks like baby will be here by tomorrow which is my due date eek grin

Will update as and when I can and keep fingers crossed for everyone else xx

whereareyougoingmylittleone Tue 26-Nov-13 01:10:25

Any news Pumpkin?

I had a baby girl tonight at 9pm. 9 pounds 14 ounces. A bit traumatic and painful as the pain relief arrived too late ( though I had the joy of needles being stuck in me just as baby was being pushed out, also coinciding with my cannula falling out and splashing dh with blood). All in all an action packed birth but we are all okay now. Dd2 is lying beside me and she is gorgeous.
Sending love to Monday and everyone else still waiting. It will happen this week xxx

Bumbolina Tue 26-Nov-13 04:06:20

Congratulations Where! Sounds like a very exciting entrance to the world!
Enjoy your little baby newborn snuggles (I know I am) smile

Mondayschild78 Tue 26-Nov-13 05:31:40

Massive congrats where on the arrival of your DD2. That's brilliant news!

And what is more is she shares her birthday with my DS2! smile who was born at midday on Monday.

Good luck Pumpkin, things come in threes wink

Love to all

whereareyougoingmylittleone Tue 26-Nov-13 07:11:44

Aw, congrats Monday! See, you even snuck in there before me!! The 25th is a great day for a birthday indeed. Hope you are okay and all went well.
Love to all and looking forward to more announcements xx

Mondayschild78 Tue 26-Nov-13 08:29:01

Ha ha thanks!

Agree a great date as one month to Christmas woo hoo!

Enjoy your little one and all the very best x

2Labradors Tue 26-Nov-13 11:55:27

Congratulations bumbolina where and monday what lovely news grin
I hope you're all enjoying you're first days with your newborns.

Everything seems to have stopped for me, am 39+4 today, and all the signs that were pointing to labour have fizzled out.

So, I bounced on my ball for the whole of I'm a celeb last night, I'd been on a walk to get my DC from school, and we DTD again (this is really no fun lol) but baby is just happy staying in there I think

I spent this morning ordering more Christmas presents and eating: a salad followed by some quality street grin

I'm going to walk to school & back again today, I actually felt quite good after doing it yesterday.

I would love baby to make an appearance this week though....please

whereareyougoingmylittleone Wed 27-Nov-13 11:13:12

Fingers crossed for you 2Labradors! I think 39 weeks is a long enough pregnancy. In fact, 38 weeks would do. 41 weeks ( the thread average I think?) far too long... Make us proud! x
