Well we have filled up the second thread.

If you want support or just a moan.

Everyone is welcome!

FastWindow Fri 20-Sep-13 22:48:57

Hi sunshine well done for getting the thread to 1001 posts!!!

mummratheevertired Fri 20-Sep-13 23:05:19

Hi all.

Just to say my sweep and acupuncture worked yesterday. Went into labour last night got to hopsital at 3cm stayed On Birth centre until midnight where they said I couldn't stay as they needed the bed an I hadn't progressed more than 3 cm even though I was having agonising contractions 3 minutes apart. Went home doubting that I was actually in labour as they said I wasn't established enough. Slept quite well as the contractions died off to every half an hour so just woke up for them. Contractions started getting close together again from nine am. Decide I couldn't carry on with no pain relief so went in at half 1. Baby girl born at half 3 this afternoon. Currently can't sleep in postnatal as it was too late for a 6 hour discharge.

Sorry for lack of paragraphs on phone.

Good luck all waiting to go into labour.

FastWindow Fri 20-Sep-13 23:14:52

Hey congrats mummra!!

Everything ok? Got a name yet?

mummratheevertired Fri 20-Sep-13 23:26:46

Yep all good. Working on a name. She was a big girl at 8Ib8 but not quite as big as my first boy (9Ib7). Thought she'd be a boy so hadnt really picked a girls. Glad I didn't go over (due 22nd) she'd have been huge!

Kilkers Sat 21-Sep-13 00:03:57

Congrats mummra thanks

Hodgies Sat 21-Sep-13 00:52:38

First post on this thread, 38 weeks with #3 so on the countdown!

Baby currently breech, or was on Wednesday. Was head down the week before and transverse the fortnight before that so It's clearly having a great time in there lol.

Back for a scan on Tuesday so hopefully it has shifted again.

tackytiger Sat 21-Sep-13 07:52:47

Hello everyone! 39 weeks today so can legitimately check in ;-)
My first baby was a 9lber so hoping I don't go over with this one as she's set to be even bigger. A bit uncomfortable now so just hoping it happens soon...

SunshineMiddle Sat 21-Sep-13 08:28:20

Hi. I'm 38+1 with first baby. Starting to realise that birth is not too far away. I've started waking up thinking 'is today the day?'

Watch me go two weeks over now!

KikiShack Sat 21-Sep-13 09:00:58

Hello all, I'm also 39 weeks today so officially feel very close.

I saw the mw yesterday who told me they'd start giving me sweeps next Friday (39+6) if I haven't popped by then. I have quite large fibroids and they don't want me to go much overdue, I'm happy to follow advice as in beginning to get slightly bored/ too used to maternity leave with nothing to do except the odd bit of cooking.

So it looks like my LO will likely come either side of next weekend, I can't wait to meet him or her!!

Good luck to you all, anyone else got caesarean our induction dates?

PinkApple86 Sat 21-Sep-13 09:01:40

hi all I'm 40+2 and impatiently waiting for ds1 to arrive. had a sweep on Thursday and so far had a show but no more progress. Another day of ball bouncing for me.

FastWindow Sat 21-Sep-13 09:40:33

Crikey, hello everyone!

Sunshinemiddle and sunshine200. Unless my maths has gone the way of my memory, you are two different people right!! 200, you're due tomorrow?

So I'm four days over now. Trying very hard to take advantage of the last few days with my ds (3.3) and not do the waiting game. Not easy when you're getting texts such as 'are you still pregnant' well I fecking hope so. Thanks for the extra worry there.

Anyway!! Good luck all you lucky buggers whose mw will do sweeps! Hope it moves things along.

Bumpiemalumpie Sat 21-Sep-13 09:40:51

Oh thank god someone started this, I was beginning to worry, been a lurker of the last two seasons and will be hopefully in my own race in January!!

Good luck all!

FastWindow Sat 21-Sep-13 09:44:08

Thanks bumpie we filled part two in three weeks so goodness knows what number you'll get to! smile

FastWindow Sat 21-Sep-13 18:34:09

So, just been to the loo and trying to work out if the dampness I'm feeling is waters trickling or just me being a bit... Sweaty... Lovely i know.
Then decided to place some loo roll just inside my fanjo to see if it got wet, and it came away pink!!!
Panic or check hospital bag?!!

Bumpiemalumpie Sat 21-Sep-13 19:01:10

From all I have read, do not panic, check bag, put on pad and wait for an hour

Unless gushing then stand in bath, order new carpet and call Midwife!!

Charlystar Sat 21-Sep-13 19:57:26

Hey guys.

So ive had my sweep on thursday and she booked me in for induction on 27th she seemed to think im likely to need the induction. I have had a show since though so good sign.

I felt disheartened though cus i want a water birth and wont be allowed if im induced. So.... I frantically looked online for ways of natural induction, i.e curry, rlt etc but i liked the look of acupuncture, i had that done this morning so hoping and waiting but im booked in for 2nd session tomoro morning if it doesnt happen tonight. Fingers crossed.

mummra's announcement has filled me with hope!!! Did you feel anything atall after the acupuncture? Or did labour just come on out of the blue?

Sunshine200 Sat 21-Sep-13 20:13:52

Yes, we are different people - due tomorrow. I wouldn't mind being late too much if it wasn't for this dreadful heartburn! I had it last pregnancy but not as bad as this.

Dd1 was just 4 days overdue so I'm thinking the second one should come earlier than that...

Charleystar - I didn't realise you couldn't have a water birth if you are induced, may have to start on the curry myself!

CruCru Sat 21-Sep-13 20:31:19

Charlystar - have you tried reflexology? I had a foot massage and although it didn't bring on labour right away, DS went loopy in there. Fucking painful though.

FastWindow Sat 21-Sep-13 20:58:50

Water birth isn't compatible with monitoring systems. Ditto drip. Don't think it's totally impossible though. Don't lose all hope!

Pad is in, and now have slight pinkish brown discharge. Not loads though, and no pains, just a heavy feeling down there. Family on low alert!!

Heard waters smell like hay. What does hay smell like?!

honey86 Sat 21-Sep-13 21:50:09

just marking my place- 34 +1. starting to struggle with it abit. had cramps all week, went to lw and twas a falsie. still cramping still aching and so exhausted confused

good luck all x

PinkApple86 Sat 21-Sep-13 21:55:43

fast I had something like that on thurs. I thought it was the bloody show. Not really a mucus plug tho more like the end of a period. I did have a sweep in the morning tho so could have been to do with that. So far I've had no progress. Feeling a bit fed up and want to meet my baby.

PenelopeLane Sun 22-Sep-13 00:02:01

Hello! I am 38+3 so keen to check in as well! I was doing well in terms of not being too impatient, but this is my third day of having low-down crampy feelings and it's starting to make me wonder. Although (this is my second) my DS was a full week late so am aware I could also be settling in for a wait of a few weeks. So, am just trying to make the most of having lots of 1 on 1 time with DS while I wait, which is actually very nice.

I had acupuncture last week as my MW does it, and didn't notice anything afterward although did find lying back with needles in my feet strangely relaxing.

Nellysgirl Sun 22-Sep-13 00:23:44

Hello! I'd like to check in @ 38+3...
Officially 2cms and had a sweep yesterday so hoping something may come of it as been having pains on and off for 2 weeks now and the show.
Today is my birthday so hoping we can share the day smile

Xiaoxiong Sun 22-Sep-13 04:04:21

Checking in here too at 37+6 and on semi-bed rest. Have an ELCS booked for Friday thank god as I am enormous with chronic headaches that landed me in the ward last week having a CT scan of my brain shock all well thank goodness, just a huge baby crushing all nerves and organs and blood vessels. The bed rest helps a lot too.

With DS I went 2 full weeks overdue and he ended up being born by EMCS as he was transverse and just shy of 10lbs. This time the baby's even bigger and even the VBAC clinic midwives said gently that it was very unlikely to happen naturally, so ELCS it is.

And I've been up since 2.30am with heartburn, and returning DS (nearly 2) to his new toddler bed every half hour. We need to crack this before the new baby arrives but DH and I are both shattered!

This is definitely my last child, I'm brilliant at being pregnant until about 33 weeks (blooming, no MS) and then my body just seems to cave in under the strain of huge babies with heartburn, SPD, leg cramps and back pain, low blood pressure and headaches. Two and done for sure, luckily DH is entirely in agreement!

flowers for everyone also waiting. I was so fed up by 42 weeks with DS I honestly couldn't be responsible for my actions when people said things like "still here then?" or "have you tried pineapple/RLT/curry/sex etc" angry I think reflexology after 40 weeks should be mandatory just to bring the frustration levels down to a manageable level wink

FastWindow Sun 22-Sep-13 05:01:23

Looks like things are beginning to happen! 40+5 and having really uncomfortable stabby-but not-spd pains accompanied by some waters. I wonder if I should ring anyone yet.
The pinkish discharge was obviously a good sign, and I noticed my boobs were starting to go a bit Pammy as well.

FastWindow Sun 22-Sep-13 05:02:25

Hey, look at all the new people! Hi everyone <waves>

Nellysgirl Sun 22-Sep-13 05:22:37

Oooo exciting fastwindow! If in doubt call I say. And of course keep us all informed xx

Babyonway3 Sun 22-Sep-13 06:11:40

38 weeks today with no.3(after a 12 year gap) and having irregular contractions daily. went in 3 days ago because they became more regular, 10 minutes apart and strong, and baby is breech so went in earlier than I would do otherwise - I was due an ECV so they gave me something to 'stop' the contractions and tried the ECV the next day - dreadful and didn't work (my second ECV - don't bother they are awful!). Every day I am getting contractions, 30 mins apart, 20 mins, 10 mins, then nothing for a few hours/a night....driving me crazy - when is this thing going to start again properly? I gotta get to hospital on time for C-section!

Babyonway3 Sun 22-Sep-13 06:13:51

Anyone else with crazy irregular contractions? Thought they were braxton hicks but on the monitor a few days they were the real thing, but no dilation..? would love to hear from you? smile

Sunshine200 Sun 22-Sep-13 07:02:52

Xiao, that sounds tough - hopefully they will deliver your baby early for you?

I know how extra exhausting it is with a 2 year old, my dd1 turned 2 this week, and is an early riser, and not the best sleeper.

Hope you start to feel better soon.

My due date today and no signs yet - not feeling too great either.

donttellalfred Sun 22-Sep-13 12:58:26

Hello, can I join? Due tomorrow, really thought this one was going to be early but it seems not... Already had three sweeps, each time the mw says cervix 'ready to go' etc etc so where is blooming baby?

Currently bouncing halfheartedly on my birthing ball. Thought I had a contraction but it turned out to be indigestion from bouncing too soon after lunch.

Good luck to all those with things getting started today!

honey86 Sun 22-Sep-13 14:27:54

oohhh good luck fast smile

ive had irregular cramps/ contractions for a good week n a half so far but im still a tad too early so they arent allowed to progress x

FastWindow Sun 22-Sep-13 15:04:33

Hi ladies

Well I had a little girl at 815 this morning after a two hour labour. Got to 6cm on two paracetamol. Not recommended!! Too late for epidural which I knew I wanted by the third contraction.

8lb 1oz, perfect little lady. I'm still in shock from the sneeze birth and the fact that she isn't a boy!!

She's called... Juno

mummratheevertired Sun 22-Sep-13 15:25:05

Congratulations FastWindow well done! Lovely name Juno. We went with Beatrix in the end. Xx

FastWindow Sun 22-Sep-13 15:45:09

Hi mummra, thanks! Just recovering post stitches for minor tear due to speed she came!

I really like Beatrix. I like the unusual but easy to spell or pronounce.

PinkApple86 Sun 22-Sep-13 15:53:01

Wow congrats fast thanks

honey86 Sun 22-Sep-13 15:53:10

congratulations! grinthanks

Charlystar Sun 22-Sep-13 16:51:40

Congratulations fast

I had my 2nd session of acupuncture today so hoping, preying, wishing it happens tonight.

Ive def felt more cramping and more pressure downwards today so all good.

mummratheevertired Sun 22-Sep-13 17:11:15

I went into labour the same night day as my second acupuncture Charly - so fingers crossed.

Slight tear for me too Fast window. Was at home with co-codamol until 2.5 hours before she was born, so know what you've been through. Good work!

Charlystar Sun 22-Sep-13 17:55:38

Ooooh i hope it works for me too then. Did you feel any different after your acupuncture? Or did your labour start out of the blue? mumra

mummratheevertired Sun 22-Sep-13 18:00:23

Well it's hard to say because do' had a sweep the same day and apparently I was ready to go anytime so felt like it could be anytime. But contractions just started really after a bit of a show. Second rounds of acupuncture meant to be quite successful though but if you're not ready then who knows. Fingers crossed for you though.

juniper9 Sun 22-Sep-13 18:04:58

I'm 39 weeks today by scan dates, or 40 by my dates. Had wetness in Knicks earlier too, but no other signs and so I've just put it down to watery discharge. I think.

I'm far too tired to go into labour- sleeping appallingly at the moment. I seem to stay asleep for 2 hours at best, then lie awake until next 2 hour session.

Charlystar Sun 22-Sep-13 18:07:07

I had my sweep on thursday and mw said id started to soften and dialate, have had a show each day since so fingers and toes crossed for tonight.

honey86 Sun 22-Sep-13 20:17:44

good luck charly thanks

Kilkers Sun 22-Sep-13 20:38:02

Congrats FastWindow, brilliant news. Absolutely love the name, enjoy your newborn snuggles xx

PenelopeLane Sun 22-Sep-13 22:49:01

Congrats fast. Did you make it to hospital in enough time?

I was googling obsessing over when the baby might come and found this really interesting website if you're interested about when most babies come

It was good for me to read as made me feel much more patient, as I still have 10 days until my due date and the cramps aren't getting any worse so I may be late again

enjolraslove Mon 23-Sep-13 02:03:15

Oooh can I join you? I'm now 41 weeks with dc2. Had a sweep on fri and midwife said the cervix was soft and 1cm dilated but since then nothing- despite bouncing on the ball to the amusement of dd! I was induced at 42 weeks with dd and really, really wanted this to be different. Not because it was bad really but just wanted to know what it felt like to actually go into labour.
Booked for induction next sat so am losing hope really.
Fed up.

Love the names Juno and Beatrix. Both so elegant.

Hopeful2013 Mon 23-Sep-13 06:29:49

Hi Everyone,

I was on the last thread and just thought I would check in to let you know I had a beautiful little girl on Wed 18th Sept weighing 8lbs 12 oz. I ended up with a bit of a nightmare labour which had started on Mon and ended in forcep delivery Wed night but I can honestly say she is worth every stitch!! Good luck to everyone, I found this thread a real source of support especially as I was 40+15 by the time I had her!!

midori1999 Mon 23-Sep-13 08:26:43

Congratulations fast

Can I join in please? I'm 37 weeks today but hoping to have a sweep (they did agree to this last week) at my hospital appointment today. I'll also get my induction date for next week, which will hopefully be Monday, although I'd like to go into labour naturally before that ideally. Except for DC1, all of my DC have been born before 38 weeks, 3 of them between 37 and 38, so I've got everything crossed! grin

midori1999 Mon 23-Sep-13 08:28:28

Sorry [hopeful] huge congrats to you too!!! Sorry your delivery wasn't as you'd have liked though.

Charlystar Mon 23-Sep-13 08:34:05

After having my 2nd acupuncture session yesterday i think it may have worked.

Ive been having contractions for about 3 hours (may have slept through some early ones) they have been and still are about 12 mins between lasting about 50-60secs. Have called the mw to let them know so just waiting it out now. Just hope they dont fizzle out to nothing.

PinkApple86 Mon 23-Sep-13 09:41:36

Hope this is it for u charly

mummratheevertired Mon 23-Sep-13 12:13:08

Exciting! Good luck Charly!

Xiaoxiong Mon 23-Sep-13 13:16:23

Hope today's the day charly! flowers

donttellalfred Mon 23-Sep-13 14:23:45

Good luck Charlystar!

FastWindow Mon 23-Sep-13 15:32:18

Hi all,

Well we are home, I'm sore and so tired as Juno is a very hungry baby and I managed to put one boob out if commission by letting her suck a big blood blister in the nipple, to make matters worse I just didn't have enough colostrum in the other boob to satisfy her so cue a few hours of frustration and no sleep... At three am after trying to hand express colostrum (bit like herding cats) i made the decision to ff. She went nuts for it and slept for four hours (thank you!!) but brilliantly still wanted boob. So it is possible, just because you offer bottle doesn't mean you've ruined bf for ever.

I have bought nipple shields. Watch this space.

It has also belatedly occurred to me how ironic my mn nn turned out to be...

FastWindow Mon 23-Sep-13 15:38:44

Looking forward to the good news charlystar!!

And a big welcome to all the others who have just joined, hoping that tonight's the night you wake up damp and going ' ow, Wtf!'

Mummra - I'm still not over the shock!! I used the app to time contractions and is a really vivid illustration of exactly how fast things progressed.

I may well have given birth in the car park had it not been a Sunday and therefore quiet on the roads.... It doesn't bear thinking about.

FastWindow Mon 23-Sep-13 15:51:04

Congrats hopeful!

Sounds just like my first labour, I totally empathise!

Doesn't half put you off being induced!!

Well done flowers

donttellalfred Mon 23-Sep-13 18:57:22

Fastwindow - something similar happened with my first, I had to give formula the two nights we were in hospital and gave formula once a day for two weeks after that. DS was fine on the boob and after those first two weeks we switched to ebf. So it's definitely possible to manage to keep them interested in bf even if you use a bit of formula or mix feed.

donttellalfred Mon 23-Sep-13 18:58:22

Sympathy for the blister btw, hope it clears up soon and the shields help.

Charlystar Tue 24-Sep-13 08:22:35

Omg! The acupuncture did work. I had my baby boy early hours this morning.

1st baby - ouch - 3rd degree tear - ouch - beautiful baby

His name is Spencer

Kilkers Tue 24-Sep-13 10:22:16

Yey, congrats Charly! x

Feeling a bit down today as I had a failed sweep yesterday (am 41+1 now) and have been booked in to be induced on Thursday morning. Am dreading potentially hanging around in hospital for days having repeated doses of the pessary and then ending up on the dreaded drip anyway.

I can't help worrying that I'll end up needing an epidural because of the drip and then won't be able to use the pool etc.

Just feeling a bit sorry for myself, I know it's more important to get the baby out safely but it's my first and I don't know what to expect hmm

honey86 Tue 24-Sep-13 11:25:59

congratulations charly smile thanks

mummratheevertired Tue 24-Sep-13 11:49:11

Congratulations Charly! Lovely, well done!

CruCru Tue 24-Sep-13 12:48:20

Congratulations Charly!

Hey FastWindow - I mixed fed nearly all the way through and fed DS for a year. My maternity nurse said its a good idea to introduce a bottle every other day from 3 weeks or you can end up with a baby who refuses the bottle.

Kilkers - I was induced with DS (and will be induced again next Tuesday). I didn't have an epidural, even though I was on a drip for some of it. You may not need one.

donttellalfred Tue 24-Sep-13 16:30:11

Congrats Charlystar!

Kilkers I was induced with my first too (drip)?and, while I would rather avoid it this time, it was ok and not as bad as I'd feared. Can you have another sweep before induction?

donttellalfred Tue 24-Sep-13 16:30:33

Sorry for random ?

Kilkers Tue 24-Sep-13 17:46:50

Thanks dont and CruCru. I think they will do another sweep as a matter of course when I'm admitted. I think I'm just being a drama queen as I've heard a lot of negative stories about the drip and I really would prefer not to have an epidural.

PinkApple86 Tue 24-Sep-13 20:55:10

congrats charly thanks

CruCru Tue 24-Sep-13 21:25:00

Do you have a TENS machine? I found that super helpful (partly because it gave me something to do at the start of each contraction).

If you use gas and air, start sucking on it when the contraction builds. Carry on sucking on it (similar to ascending when you are scuba diving).

Not sure if that's helpful or not.

CruCru Tue 24-Sep-13 21:26:54

However, if you need an epidural, sodding have one. You won't get any medal for hideous suffering.

Ultimately, labour takes up one day.

Rollermum Wed 25-Sep-13 03:26:53

Congrats to Mummra, FastWindow, Hopeful and Charlystar!! Finally, babies!

I was on the last thread and my LO has come too. I unfortunately had a long induction over 5 days and ended up with forceps delivery with complications that mean staying in hospital. Sounds terrifying to those concerned about induction, but I was physically an outlier - she was born at 40+17 and with a perfectly healthy baby and placenta. Also it genuinely was all worth it - each stage comes along and you deal with it.

She is gorgeous and lovely at 8.4lbs. Her name is Ida.

Goods luck to all those waiting - I really understand your frustration!

FastWindow Wed 25-Sep-13 08:57:27

Congrats charlystar and rollermum! I was starting to get worried about you roller. But you don't like to ask.

Beautiful names Spencer and Ida. Lots of unusual thinking going on here!

Rollermum I had the same with my first, only two days induction but in for a week after to make sure ds for antibiotics.

Kilkers i agree with crucru totally. So much is made of the perfect labour but ultimately that defines a one which results in you holding a baby. The journey - becomes irrelevant. Max pain relief all the way!! Love gas and air, but don't stop breathing it (tip, you can breathe out through the nozzle thingy as well)

Crucru she seems to be able to switch even midfeed. Amazing.

Good luck everyone waiting!

mummratheevertired Wed 25-Sep-13 11:24:45

Congratulations Rollermum. I've been thinking of you! Well done, such a long time but you have your little Ida now and it's so worth it when they're here!

Beckmum4 Wed 25-Sep-13 12:59:00

I'm being induced tomorrow and really scared but at the same time I carnt get my head round it and it feels like it's all a lie. I'm really scared I'm not ready and really really concerned how do I get myself to understand what happening ???????

Kilkers Wed 25-Sep-13 15:07:59

Thanks for the advice, I'm not precious about pain relief and will have whatever I need on the day when it comes down to it. As others have said it's not a competition! I'm still shitting myself though...

Sunshine200 Wed 25-Sep-13 17:47:03

Congrats to everyone who has had their lovely healthy babies.

Rollermum - your delivery sounds tough but what a great result in gorgeous Ida.

I get offered a stretch & sweep on Sunday. Has anyone here ever turned one of those down? I'm not sure I want one although would prefer that to bring induced. Am only 4 days over due tomorrow, but starting to worry about it.

CruCru Wed 25-Sep-13 17:50:33

Sunshine - my obstetrician tried to give me one last time but my cervix was too high and it hurt too much so she stopped - if it is super painful, ask them to stop (obstetrician said if it hurts that much it's unlikely to be successful).

Xiaoxiong Wed 25-Sep-13 21:06:57

I had 2 sweeps with DS last time and contractions started as soon as I got into the corridor to head home after the second one at 41+4. So I would go for it. As far as i remember my cervix was v soft and receptive so it was uncomfortable rather than painful but the hypnobirthing relaxation helped a lot smile

I had the c-section preop today and they jabbed me in the bum with steroids to help the baby's lungs - second jab tomorrow. I was really surprised but apparently now recommended for all babies born by elective section prior to 38+6 and I will only be 38+4! It stung like anything and now I feel really rubbish and off colour (they did warn me).

CruCru Wed 25-Sep-13 21:37:26

Can I whinge? I am so tired. DS is awesome but he is very active - this morning we had an appointment then went to the shoe shop then the park then I fixed him some lunch then my Mum came round then I went to get the flu jab.

Not helped by me getting very mixed sleep. I had a nap yesterday but didn't today. Ugh.

CruCru Wed 25-Sep-13 21:38:54

On the other hand, a super nice Italian lady (think she was the child's grandmother) insisted on lifting DS into and out of the swing for me. Am loving the consideration.

PenelopeLane Thu 26-Sep-13 05:56:46

I've had what I think is false labour twice now and it's really frustrating - the first time I was in so much pain I was bent double for a couple of hours, but then had a bath and it went away. Second time was in the middle of the night when I had over an hour of regular-ish pains in my back and front, which again, went away. Is anyone else getting this? Am 39 weeks now ..

I know people say "you'll know" when it's labour, but I have been through labour before, and how I've felt both times is consistent with the beginnings of that, the only difference being it didn't get worse. I keep trying to remind myself to be patient ...

Xiao that's interesting about the steroids

Re pain relief, I'd love an epidural and was begging for one last time, but things had moved to quickly by that point. I have no scruples about pain relief though

Good luck beck for your induction

Fozziebearmum2be Thu 26-Sep-13 15:33:33

Hi - hope you don't mind me crashing smile

My due date is today and spent the day fending off the 'any twinges?' any news' texts.... Been having stronger and stronger tightening over the last week or so, had dodgy tummy and period pains, wish it would either start or stop!

I've been wondering about the difference between contractions &. BHs too - everyone just says 'you'll know' but difficult when it's first baby? Any tips?

I don't fancy having a sweep-being offered one tomorrow, but might give it another week as reckon things may start on their own next week if I'm still waiting....

Hodgies Thu 26-Sep-13 17:28:56

Sunshine200 - I turned down a sweep this week but I was only 38+4. Just didn't feel like I was at the stage of wanting a stranger's fingers up my bits confused
I had one with my last baby but was 40+4 by that point so much more receptive. I apparently was very unfavourable and she couldn't even do it but it must have triggered something as I went into labour that night!

Labour built up gradually for me the second time, I'd been induced the first time so wasn't sure what it would be like. Firstly pains that just made me sit up a bit, then needed me to stand up, then walk around and then have to concentrate and breathe through them. They got closer together over the course of a few hours but wasn't until I started timing them and I had 3 in 10 mins that I actually thought that was it!

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and quite sure I'll still be here next week waiting lol.

dollyfinz Thu 26-Sep-13 17:42:20

Bit late to be joining but finding this thread such a comfort as I'm 41+4 today with my 1st baby. I've had 2 failed sweeps, no show, no BH, no nothing! As I live on an island without midwife services, I've been staying in a b&b on the mainland for almost 4 weeks now waiting for things to happen, but am now booked to be induced on Saturday. Had so hoped for a water birth in the CMU but feel hopes fading fast. One last shot at a sweep tomorrow, fingers crossed! At my 2nd scan, they bought my DD forward a week, now think that was a mistake? Sorry for the moaning, just needed to get that off my chest!
Good luck to everyone else here smile

Sunshine200 Thu 26-Sep-13 20:08:19

I didn't realise people got offered sweeps before their due date.

Am 4 days over now. Concerned I was getting a bit of 'leaking'. Been told to put a bit of loo roll down below to see of it gets wet or just damp - oh the joys!

Fozzie - a dodgy tummy is a good sign that things will happen for you soon.

donttellalfred Thu 26-Sep-13 20:14:44

Sunshine200, I sympathise - late pregnancy is hopefully the only time in life when I will sniff my knickers and wonder, is that my waters breaking of have I just wet myself a bit? grin

Hope all went well for you today Beck.

Xiaoxiong Thu 26-Sep-13 20:15:01

Just put DS to sleep - last night with just him as my baby! Such mixed emotions and he wanted a big cuddle as he fell asleep with his arms round my neck. I must admit I had a little weep into his ear as he whispered "nice mama, luff you mama" sadblush

CruCru Thu 26-Sep-13 22:59:23

Ah that is nice! How old is your boy?

I'm a bit nervous of having another baby. DS, DH and I are a nice, settled little bunch and it seems weird to upset the dynamic by bringing someone else into it. DS is being picked up on Monday by his grandparents and I think I'll get a bit teary then.

CruCru Thu 26-Sep-13 22:59:32

Xiaoxiong Thu 26-Sep-13 23:35:09

He's 2 in December - that's exactly it, I feel like a settled little unit with him and DH. What if we ruin this great family we've already got by introducing a new baby as a wild card... Sob! DH has told me, as gently as possible, that he feels the same but to get a grip grin

CruCru Fri 27-Sep-13 07:48:05

I hope it goes well for you today.

PinkApple86 Fri 27-Sep-13 08:54:46

Hope you go into labour today dolly I had second sweep yday. Some cramps in the evening and woke up to a big lump of plug this morning but this happened last time. Seems it's never ending. Induction booked for Tuesday and I think I'll need it I just can't see myself going into labour

FastWindow Fri 27-Sep-13 13:36:18

Crucru and xiao, I felt the same. Ds is 3, so you wonder how is all going to change. Juno is five days old and already we are used to her being part of the family, as if she had always been. So don't worry about that, the love expands to include everyone!!

Xiaoxiong Sat 28-Sep-13 02:31:55

Thanks all - DS2 arrived this afternoon so calmly and peacefully and is gorgeous! So familiar but new - looks like DS1 but ever so slightly different in lots of ways. He has latched on like a champ - probably helps that DS1 is still bfing so there's plenty of milk - but he is snoring so loudly I can't sleep grin like trying to snooze next to a creaking door.

He is 8lbs6oz and 56cm at 38 weeks. We have named him Giles William.

It feels like the family is perfect now, just can't wait for DS1 to meet him smile

PinkApple86 Sat 28-Sep-13 08:32:54

Congrats Xiao Glad your lo arrived safely thanks

Xiaoxiong Sat 28-Sep-13 11:47:14

Just wanted to add, for anyone interested, best buy for hospital bag so far has been a pair of £10 black yoga pants from sainsbury's with a foldover waistband - when unfolded they go up to my ribs, no waistband to sit on scars and nice and loose down below!!

juniper9 Sat 28-Sep-13 14:34:22

Anyone else trying to sweep themselves?! Or just me?

DP is a doctor but refuses to do it as he 'doesn't want to do a medical procedure' on me. I'm verging on reaching for the knitting needles...

PinkApple86 Sat 28-Sep-13 15:22:23

I did let dh try and feel baby's head and he got really freaked out as I'm 2cm dilated and he actually did feel it (that was the moment he realised there's a real baby in there I think lol) but I wouldn't want him to actually try and do a sweep as he is not medically trained. I think dtd is the closest thing with the added bonus of the sperm which is supposed to soften the cervix. No luck so far though. It's another night on the bouncy ball for me!

CruCru Sat 28-Sep-13 21:41:21

Congratulations Xiao! That is a lovely name.

Please don't do any sweeps yourself. You may introduce infection at a very bad time. Sorry, I'll stop nagging.

donttellalfred Sun 29-Sep-13 17:06:12

Congrats Xiao! Love the name.

I'll be a week overdue tomorrow and am getting bored of this pregnancy lark...

donttellalfred Sun 29-Sep-13 17:08:35

Also CruCru hope it goes ok tmw with your DS being picked up - I have the same feelings about we three being a happy unit already - but I'm sure all those apprehensions will dissolve when the new babies (finally) arrive!

Fozziebearmum2be Sun 29-Sep-13 17:49:37

Going mad here... hmm

Had a mini show yesterday and bh's area getting stronger and stronger but each time they start they don't last long. But then come back the next day a little stronger....driving me bonkers like Im going to be waiting forever!

Come on baby-time to leave smile

Hope you're all having more luck than me!

Wickedgirl Sun 29-Sep-13 21:47:04

Can I join in please?

I am 38+4 with baby 4 and I too am Fed up with false labour. I have had 2 nights of contractions. The first night they were every 8 minutes for 2 hours and then stopped and the second night they were every 10 minutes for 3 hours.

I either want contractions that do something or no contractions at all so that I can sleep.

Fozziebearmum2be Sun 29-Sep-13 22:08:50

Exactly wickedgirl! Either stay here or go and let me rest...

It's my first baby so I have no idea what to expect and whether the feelings are real contractions or just bh's..

Happier at the weekend as dh is nearby but he works 1.5 hours away so have no idea when its real labour so when to call him! Reckon it'll be hard to put my TENS machine patches on myself...if he's at work.

Any tips on knowing the difference?

CherriesOnTop Mon 30-Sep-13 07:43:05

Hi everyone - I'm 39 weeks today and have only just discovered this thread, hope I'm not too late to join!
This is my second pregnancy so thought I'd offer my advice on difference between 'real' and BH contractions to Fozzie... Basically, for me, the BH contractions were all at the front of the bump and felt like tightenings, which were sometimes uncomfortable but not really painful. Real contractions were different - they felt like period pains and were much lower, in my back and also in my tummy. I've been told that you can make a BH contraction ease off by walking around, whereas it's more likely to make a real contraction feel even more painful. Hope that helps!

I thought i was going into labour a few days ago as I lost the mucous plug, but nothing has happened since then... Getting more tired and uncomfortable every day! DS1 was on his due date, so somehow I'd convinced myself that this baby might be a bit early... Any time this week would be fine with me!

Hello, another one fucked off with braxton hicks and wanting this darn baby to just arrive. big sympathy with all of you. This is my 3rd and o had about two weeks of this with each of my other 2 which lakes ne want to cry, quite frankly. I'm tired of heartburn stopping me sleeping, then insomnia and bh waking me at 4am. Plus small children not letting me rest, and all the walking with PGP.

Am 38 weeks and very grumpy today.

Would love to just wallow in bed all day with cake and ice cream!

gainsbourg Mon 30-Sep-13 09:28:10

Hello! I'd like to join you all too please! I'm due tomorrow with baby number one, so imagine that I'll probably still be waiting at the weekend... Especially as he was barely engaged on Friday and I have had no signs of any impending labour. In fact, I felt more symptoms last week. Now I feel perfectly normal with no urge to clean/tidy/prepare for an imminent arrival! I'm going to go on a mammoth dog walk later and eat a pineapple. I've also booked myself in for reflexology tomorrow. I'm aware that these things will probably all prove futile but I have an exam on the 10th so I need him out soon (or not until after 1.30pm on the 10th!).
Good luck everyone!

GeorgieJo Mon 30-Sep-13 10:04:28

I am waiting too! 39 + 3 with my first.

Half of me is longing for birth to start - can't wait to meet the baby, and it feels like I have been pregnant forever.

On the other hand I am sleeping so badly that I can't imagine going through labour - and then looking after a newborn - when I am already this exhausted...!

Any others in the same position? Please tell me that we all have hidden reserves of energy that will help us through the first few weeks...

I just ate half a pineapple gainsborough just contemplating ordering a really spicy pizza for dinner tonight. Could really do with baby out before 7th, but not due until 14th.

Georgie I honestly find the first few weeks with a new born much less exhausting than the end of pregnancy. I think hormones carry you through a bit, plus someone else can carry the baby for a bit!

PinkApple86 Mon 30-Sep-13 16:37:05

I'm going in for induction tomorrow at 40+12. I wouldn't waste your energy on the pineapple it didn't work for me, or the jalapeno sandwiches, curry, walks, dtd. I suppose it helped pass the longest 2 weeks of my life! This time tomorrow I'll hopefully be in labour, or even have a baby after a painless sneeze birth (fingers crossed eh!) Hang on in there ladies. It won't be long.

gainsbourg Mon 30-Sep-13 20:09:56

Good luck for tomorrow pinkapple - so exciting that you'll finally meet your baby!

Fozziebearmum2be Mon 30-Sep-13 20:22:35

Good luck Pinkapple! grin

Felt sick and dodgy tummy all afternoon...which made me feel rubbish...but hoping its a good sign!

CruCru Tue 01-Oct-13 04:41:03

I can't sleep. Today is the day.

Good luck pinkapple!

Wickedgirl Tue 01-Oct-13 09:02:41

Good luck for today pineapple. I hope it's a nice quick one for you flowers

Wickedgirl Tue 01-Oct-13 09:03:08

*pinkapple even!

Fozziebearmum2be Tue 01-Oct-13 09:27:25

Crucru-u being induced/CS today

Good luck if you are smile

Need a rant....so after feeling v sick yesterday I had stronger and stronger tightenings/back ache/period pains on and off all night...! Tried to sleep some of which was successful, some not. Kept thinking great-it's here (!)
ended up starving so DH made me some food about 6am.

Anyways about 7 it stopped... Wtf! Dh was planning on staying off work but has now gone in late and I've had a kip.. Really really annoying... shock

Especially as dh is 1.5 hours away.... hmm

Xiaoxiong Tue 01-Oct-13 12:29:20

Good luck to CruCru and pinkapple!!

We're on day 4 at home and DS2 is a fabulous little pudding, his big brother is doting on him smile

donttellalfred Tue 01-Oct-13 18:18:11

Good luck CruCru and pinkapple!

donttellalfred Tue 01-Oct-13 18:19:05

How was today Fozzie?

Fozziebearmum2be Tue 01-Oct-13 21:17:39

Don'ttell-managed to nap this morning thanks and had more bh's so started timing them. But they're really irregular so think it's just bh's :-( and nothing exciting. Will be 40+8 on Friday so planning to have a sweep at my mw apt if I'm still pregnant and reckon at this rate I will be!

Anyone else overdue and getting a bit fed up...?

I'm not actually overdue, but they moved my EDD so it feels like it!

I woke DH at 5.30 after bh all through the evening and night yelling 'ow!' he jumped out of bed before I could explain it was just cramp in my leg...

PinkApple86 Thu 03-Oct-13 08:21:26

Thanks everyone. I had my baby on 1st Oct at 18:42. A boy 7lb 10oz. Went for induction and baby's heart rate was up and down and they were worried it was meconium as he was 12 days late so skipped the pessary, they took me to labour suite and broke waters, after 2 hours pains were starting, had drip at 3, pushing at 6 and he was out 42 mins later. Used gas and air, TENS and pethedine. Small tear no stitches. I feel so amazed by it all and can't believe I gave birth so fast. Good luck to all of u still waiting. When the time comes this horrible overdueness will be a distant memory.

MummyJetsetter Thu 03-Oct-13 09:55:34

Hi all, about time I joined in here! I'm 39 weeks today but my ds was born at 38+4 so very much feeling overdue now! Silly I know but I'm starting to get back ache and just feel so heavy and sluggish! Las labour I was woken early hours of the morning with waters breaking and ds was born 5 hours later, had no signs anything was going to happen before that so I'm non the wiser when it comes to what to expect as I don't know what I slept through! Getting all sorts of twinges but not leading to anything yet. So confused/frustrated! x

gainsbourg Thu 03-Oct-13 11:10:46

Congratulations pinkapple, you certainly deserved a quick birth after all of that waiting! Is anyone else having any more joy than me?! Still nothing going on here! I'm just focusing on the fact that in 10 days I'll be induced even if the baby refuses to shift before then! Fozziebear - did the BHs amount to anything?

Congratulations pinkapple!

I was in false labour all yesterday evening. Tailed off about 10, so at least I got to bed fairly early (then work up before 4! But never mind)

Am hoping the fact that the bh are getting more and more painful and convincing is a good sign.

honey86 Fri 04-Oct-13 10:27:25

another practise runner here -waves-

had a massive 'clear out' (sorry tmi) late last night, then when i laid down i got a massive contraction.. they stayed at 25-30mins apart through the night but the pain itself really ramped up. took paracetamol and hot water bottle had a bounce on my ball and practiced breathing and hypnobirthing... then went to sleep.

woke up this morning n the contractions were gone just leaving me tired n achy.

36 weeks today x

Wickedgirl Sat 05-Oct-13 18:04:51

Honey.....I had the same last night. Painful contractions that woke me up, lasted a few hours and then stopped. Currently 39+3 and very fed up

I'm running on 3 days of false or stop/start labour now. Currently having 1 real contraction an hour I reckon, but if last few days are anything to go by it will stop this evening.

So tired.

gainsbourg Sun 06-Oct-13 08:59:53

Ok, I think you guys have got it worse with the false labour etc. I am now 5 days overdue, but am currently getting no signs (even after 'moderately' successful sweep on Friday). Although it feels weird to be feeling completely normal, I guess it's far more preferable than lots of false alarms. Stay strong ladies!

honey86 Sun 06-Oct-13 12:03:07

oh gainsi hope u have bubba soon thanks

another night of false labour for me... still have mild but painful back contractions... but i dont wanna assume anything til its convincing. losing aload of runny milky discharge (sorry) but its not like plug nor water x

Being overdue sucks as well gains - I well remember my rage at being asked when I was due and replying 'last Thursday'...

I've txt my MW to ask if 4 days of stop/start about means anything, kind of hoping they'll send someone out to check on me but, really I know it doesn't. Grr.

sillyoldfool Sun 06-Oct-13 14:40:30

Hello, I'm 39+5 today. Not expecting lo to make an appearance soon though, dd1 was induced and dd2 was 11days late.
Dd2 was also well over 10lb, so I am hoping that this one comes a bit earlier so she doesn't get too big!

GreenSunrise Mon 07-Oct-13 09:39:41

Hello all, marking my place. Baby number 2 is due tomorrow and no signs of anything happening yet apart
from mild period pains for the past week.

D S was an EMCS at 37 weeks (before I had finished work) without going into labour when a routine M W appt found that I had severe pre eclampsia and HELLP so this time round is very different and I feel a bit clueless having never experienced labour- I an sure it will be obvious when it all starts going! I am a bit anxious about my waters suddenly going somewhere embarrassing because my mum told me that waters going was the first sign of anything happening with each of her 3 births and she had no previous warning ofaanything starting!

Looking forward to chatting with you all over the next couple of weeks smile

gainsbourg Mon 07-Oct-13 10:12:07

Bah, 6 days overdue now sad Was feeling quite upbeat yesterday, but get a bit more fed up every time I find myself going to bed again without having gone into labour. I got pathetically excited about lower backache last night - but of course it amounted to nothing! I'm going to bake something unhealthy today to distract myself.
TeWi and honey - thanks for the sympathy! TeWi - did the mw get back to you? Honey - an more exciting developments?
Hello to sillyoldfool and greensunrise!
Let's hope something happens for someone today!

sweetiepie1979 Mon 07-Oct-13 10:23:03

Hi all I'm due in 4 days with second, On off bh all weekend mostly around back anybody else have it in their back baby is in correct position. Spd getting worsethough and feel like my pelvis is ggoing to crumble, how on earth can I open my legs wide enough to push a baby out? Anybody else have this worry? Congratulations to all mummys who have delivered so far

sweetiepie1979 Mon 07-Oct-13 10:24:38

Oh also, can you bring your toddler to birth Centre? I'm worried my child care will fall apart at last minute.

Sweetpie my SPD has got much better now the, baby has dropped.

The on/off contractions apparently mean nothing buuuut my contractions did not stop last, night! Still going spectacularly slowly but I'm 2cm! Hooray!

sweetiepie1979 Mon 07-Oct-13 13:21:46

Baby was 2/5s engaged on Friday. If your 2cm dilated does that mean that your baby's Head fully engaged tewi? Are you worried about spd in Labour?

Yes, I think so. She is really low down. I honestly haven't had an issue with my hips since she properly dropped - I got pain when walking lower down in my pelvis, but it wasn't nearly as bad.

Sometimes babies don't engage properly until well into labour though... I've seen hands and knees delivery position recommended for SPD because your legs don't need to be as wide apart. (...similar logic to sex positions I assume)

sweetiepie1979 Mon 07-Oct-13 15:00:53

Ok. That's really exciting, your very close. Goodluck x

Hah, I don't feel very close!

star87 Mon 07-Oct-13 19:03:56

Hi all,

Can I join in? May be a luttle early... am 38 weeks todayand very fed up. Expecting my first so I am completely clueless. Been having mild to moderate bh since thursday afternoon. Really thought that was the beginning, but still no regularity :-(

honey86 Mon 07-Oct-13 19:48:09

no fraid not. had midwife today, contractions gone and babys nowhere near engaged sad

if i hadnt have been in n out of false labour for the last 2 weeks i wouldn't be so fussed. but i was kindof hoping all that fuss wouldve been productive in some sort of way. feel abit angry with my body. hopefully you'll have better luck. passes over ben n jerrys x

SmallBee Mon 07-Oct-13 19:53:45

Hello all! I'm 39+2 today so checking in. I've apparently got a big baby so I'm booked for an induction on Friday, REALLY want to have gone into labour before that though so hopefully the baby will turn up soon. But otherwise this time next week I hope I'll have her.
I don't know about all of you but I am looking forward to being able to eat some of my favourite foods again smile

Has anyone else's relatives already started pestering them about visiting times at the hospital? I know they're just excited for us but at this rate I feel like I will have to draw up some sort of visiting rota for them & I'm not even in yet!!

honey86 Mon 07-Oct-13 22:33:32

hi smile
dont feel you have to 'fit them in'. this is a very intimate, special time and youre going to need to recover and bond with your bubbie.
my hospital have adopted a strict policy of only birth partners and babys siblings to visit. but i have had friends relatives neighbours even random strangers asking me if im having any signs yet hmm humphhh x

sweetiepie1979 Mon 07-Oct-13 22:44:11

I wouldn't let anyone visit me with dd and same this time. They can all wait to I invite them to my house andthen it will be sscheduled to suit me.

sweetiepie1979 Mon 07-Oct-13 22:45:33

Also small bee don't tell them when induction is leave it as a surprise

I had my DD in hospital, just had DH for birth partner, you really seriously only want someone you really trust to support and focus on you there, then close family after. Visiting hours were quite short, it's much nicer to be able to spend it with your partner than people taking photos of you looking rough!

You can always blame hospital policy...

I am still 2cm.

KikiShack Tue 08-Oct-13 04:59:06

Hello all,

After popping onto this thread at the beginning when I was 39 weeks, I've had a miserable few weeks of endless waiting and not a sniff of contractions (not even a single BH), waters, plug- nothing! If it wasn't for LO going crazy for a few hours every evening I'd begin to wonder if I imagined the whole pregnancy as a cover for scoffing too many crisps over summer!

Anyway I'm 41+4 today and have been booked in for an induction today, hence why I can't sleep at all.

My hospital is really busy so I'm worried they'll tell me to try again tomorrow, in case I'll throw a huge strop and turn into a teary snot monster (yes, I have been practicing grin) but no point worrying about something that might not happen I guess.

It's my first and I'm sooooo impatient to meet him or her and get on with the sleep deprivation and sore boobs and best cuddles in the universe! Will they really be better than my OH holding me while I cuddle my sleeping cat? I can't believe there is anything nicer, but I'm also so excited about being proved wrong smile

Good luck to everyone waiting, especially those going overdue xx

KikiShack Tue 08-Oct-13 05:03:13

Oh many to say I've been between 2/5 and 4/5 palpable for the last 5 weeks, also had sweeps at 39+6 and 40+4, but nothing happening from them except a bit of bleeding which kept me in hospital for 2 nights before being discharged at 40+6 - that felt so unfair!! However I'm sure LO needed that extra bit of baking for some reason I may never know. I just how he/she won't object to being rushed out today, I do feel bad...like I'm hurrying baby to soothe my own impatience. Anyone else feel like this?

sillyoldfool Tue 08-Oct-13 06:09:52

Good luck Kiki. I was induced with my first and went into labour four hours before I was due to be induced with dd2. Being overdue sucks, you have my sympathies.
I found induction fine though, and dd1 seemed ready to come once things got going - it was quite quick - she just needed a kick start!
I'm due today, with not a single twinge to show for it. I think this ones going to be tardy just like its sisters, I just bake babies for longer!

Possibly so silly.

I have good news for me which is that baby TeWi arrived in the early hours this am. Those of you struggling with endless braxton hicks, when I finally got to 4cm the rest of the labour was very quick, so hopefully it was doing something!

Very tired now. Baby girl is beautiful and worth it obviously.

Good luck with your induction Kiki!

GeorgieJo Tue 08-Oct-13 08:26:30

Good luck Kiki!

I hope it all goes really well for you.

star87 Tue 08-Oct-13 09:43:18

Good luck Kiki!

Congratulations TeWi!!

Am now on day 6 of bh coming and going :-( they seem to be getting a little worse and kept me up all night. Fingers crossed that today will be the day!!

sweetiepie1979 Tue 08-Oct-13 10:41:44

Oh my goodness congratulations tewi Told you you were close! How was spd in Labour then? X

gainsbourg Tue 08-Oct-13 11:57:46

Congratulations TeWi! And lots of luck for today Kiki - I think I may be following in your footsteps on Sunday as I am officially 41 weeks today. I think, like you silly, I may bake them extra thoroughly! Actually, it would now suit for the baby to remain lazily in utero until 1.30 on Thursday (bloody exam!).
So sorry that the BH are keeping you up star - I actually don't know how I would cope if I wasn't able to sleep at all at this point.

honey86 Tue 08-Oct-13 14:14:06

aww good news! smilesmile congratulations thanks

hope everythings goingok kiki x

Thank you. My SPD was basically okay. I tried not to lie down and stay on my gym ball, which helped. They did hurt as baby pushed out, and I'd say try and make sure you don't open your legs too wide for examinations and the pushing bit etc.

I gave birth kind of kneeling up in the end which wasn't too bad.

First few hours after birth I was sore but starting to feel like everything's going back to normal now (finally!)

star87 Tue 08-Oct-13 17:28:38

Just wanted to hear people's thoughts.... Someone told me today the when they had bad bh they were advised to take paracetamol and if the pains went away them they are just bh but if not they are real contractions. Anyone else heard this?

Hmm, kind of. paracetamol won't do much in established labour, but can work in early labour and early labour is real contractions though they can stop and start

bit of advice I found true was to have a bath, if it's bh they'll stop.

sweetiepie1979 Tue 08-Oct-13 18:46:46

So tewi what pain relief did you have
If any and was that for spd and contractions or was oneworse than other?

I only had gas and air because I had a homebirth. Up to 4cms I tried paracetamol, moving around on gym ball (better than walking or stamping feet for hips) a couple of juggling balls I squeezed, general distraction like counting out loud length of contraction, or singing along to a song. After 4cms I stayed on ball and squeezed juggling balls + hit them against things, chewed on damp flannels and the balls, panting breaths, then gas and air when midwives arrived, kept squeezing juggling balls all the way to the end.

I got most of those ideas from a book by juju sundin called birth skills about being active in labour as pain relief, and used then when DS was born. I didn't have SPD then but the ideas plus gym ball worked pretty well for this labour.

Gas and Air is good because you can move around with it.

For hospital births I believe epidural is not advised, because it's too easy to open your hips too wide and potentially cause damage.

I didn't have SPD with DD1 either, but I had pethidine in labour with her and basically went to sleep for a few hours, so that's probs not great if you want to avoid lying down.

sweetiepie1979 Tue 08-Oct-13 21:19:45

That sounds goof. I had homebirth first time round but damage to bladder and third degree tear has put me off this time. I'll Google that ladies name and have a read. Thanks. Hope everything is going well for you you sound so strong I feel weak and I've nit even. Started yet!

Gah, that sounds awful, can see why you'd be put off! I had my first in a very busy hospital, so had homebirth for 2nd, and 3rd. Neither is perfect unfortunately.

Definitely don't feel strong! Just relieved it's over with - I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine. I really hope you have a more positive experience, and that you'll see baby soon.

Oh, keep mentioning your SPD to the midwives so they don't forget if they are suggesting things that hurt/ don't work for you.

sweetiepie1979 Tue 08-Oct-13 22:06:24

Ok thank you for that

star87 Wed 09-Oct-13 11:29:24

Just home from my midwife appointment and still non the wiser! Asked for a sweep but she wont do one until my next appointment when I'll be 40+3 :-( however on a positive note bsby is 2/5ths engaged so at least things seem to be progressing albeit slowly!

How is everyone else doing today?

GreenSunrise Wed 09-Oct-13 11:48:11

Good luck kiki, congratulations tewi!

I am shattered today. D H is a teacher and got told yesterday afternoon that ofsted were arriving today for the rest of the week so he had to work late last night meaning that I couldn't go to my pregnancy yoga class. I said that I would be on D S duty (he is not a good sleeper) and we had the worst night we have had for a long time. I was awake from 1.30 with heartburn and then he woke up full of energy at 2.30 and I couldn't get him to go back to sleep whatever I did. He finally went for a nap an hour ago so I am now trying to regain some energy for this afternoon. Today should have been D H's day off to look after D S and I should be relaxing but that has had to be cancelled because of ofsted. I will be going to bed as soon as I can get D S to sleep tonight, probably before D H gets home from work!

One of the benefits of having a bump is that one of our neighbours who I have rarely spoken to stopped me for a chat in the street today and she is lovely smile

40+1 today and still no signs other than period pains. An booked to see my consultant at 41 weeks to discusssplans for induction and m w says he will probably do a sweep then (not looking forward to that at all!)

How is everyone else doing today?

SmallBee Wed 09-Oct-13 12:48:21

I'm so knacked today! Although after seeing the night you had GreenSunrise I don't think I can complain too much about it.
Am trying to think of the last little things to pack/clean/tidy before bump comes. It is weird having an induction date for Friday as I KNOW that today and tomorrow are my last two days to myself.
I was in the hospital on Monday and there were six women in the delivery suites with another four on the antenatal ward who were essentially queuing for them, I am now so nervous that the wards will be full and they'll send me home to go in for the next day.
DH & I did go out for a meal last night, we've been given loads of advice to try and make the most of the last few nights we'll have just the two of us. Unfortunately the last thing I feel like doing it going out loads!
Hope everyone is having a lovely day?

sweetiepie1979 Wed 09-Oct-13 13:06:39

Oh green surprise that's horrendous I'd be on my knees, luckily my 2.3 year old goes to nursery 2 days a week so this is my day off. I'm trying to do all the last bits and bobs round house too smallbee. Also going to pick up dome clary sage oil I'm sure that's what got me going last time. I'm booked for a sweep on Friday but I don't think I'll have it.

sillyoldfool Wed 09-Oct-13 19:59:41

40+1 here too. Had a hideous night last night, both the dds slept through for once, but I didn't! Was up most the night with pain and upset stomach, really thought something might happen, but nothing hmm
Was offered a sweep today but declined, am booked in to be induced a week on Saturday, really hope I don't get that far!
Just had to go up to dd1s school for a curriculum evening and was soooo uncomfortable sitting on their hard chairs.
Really want to go into labour tonight just do I don't have to waddle through the school run tommorrow!!!

sillyoldfool Thu 10-Oct-13 08:20:37

Disaster has struck, dd1 has a vomiting bug, I'm 2 days over, pleeeeease by some miracle let her not pass it on!

sweetiepie1979 Thu 10-Oct-13 09:15:01

She won't she won't she won't. Have you got some help? Keep your hands washed and hers use antibacterial gel inbetween. Goodluck.
I just had a really sore bh in my back!

It'll be okay silly! what terrible timing though.

Hope this is the beginning for you sweetie.

sweetiepie1979 Thu 10-Oct-13 12:55:29

I'm having a lot of wronged but don't know if spd or mini contractions. I have a lot pressure between legs feel like I'm going to snap or everything's going to fall out! Husband coming home from work......

sillyoldfool Thu 10-Oct-13 12:58:59

Oooooh good luck sweetie!

I'm washing hands like a madwoman and disinfecting door handles etc...

Smerlin Thu 10-Oct-13 13:25:59

Can I join? Only 38+2 but midwife yesterday said that she didn't think I'd make it to my 40 week appt so feeling hopeful (maybe they just say that to everyone though?!)

Must admit apart from baby engaging, I haven't had the slightest sign of anything- no plug, no BH, nothing. Just feel tired and achy!

SmallBee Thu 10-Oct-13 13:43:54

Good luck Sweetie!

& welcome Smerlin, a lot of people have said they don't feel any BH at all & some people don't lose the plug until labour begins. Do you know what you're having?

Had a sweep today and scored 1 higher on the bishops score than on my Monday sweep so I'm pleased. I'm being induced tomorrow at 8am so hopefully the sweeps will have helped speed things up! either way this time next week I'll have my little person. I'm ranging from very excited to 'Holy crap we're actually having a baby!'.

Does anyone feel that even though they've read the books, got the stuff & gone to the classes they're still massively unprepared? I feel like I won't have a clue what I'm doing!!

star87 Thu 10-Oct-13 15:27:22

smallbee I feel the same as you, massively unprepared. I have everything ready, but mentally im sure I am! However I am sure when the time comes I'll know exactly what to do.

Possible tmi... does the mucas plug come away in bits? I've noticed that when I go to the loo there is a little bit of mucus type goo. Not sure what this is!

SmallBee Thu 10-Oct-13 15:48:34

Star, I think it depends, mine came away in one goopy mess - luckily while I was already on the loo. But I've read loads of threads where posters have said that they've lost theirs in stages which sounds like what is happening to you.

sillyoldfool Thu 10-Oct-13 17:24:38

It can come away in bits. This is my third pg and I've never seen a mucus plug, and I also feel totally unprepared so I wouldn't worry!

sweetiepie1979 Thu 10-Oct-13 18:12:27

I think mine is coming away in bits too I've not really progressed today. This is my second I was prepared fir first and this time I haven't a clue what I'm doing. I reckon I would have went in to Labour last week but I feel so mentally unprepared that's why I keep starting and stopping. I need some kind of mantra.

gainsbourg Thu 10-Oct-13 18:57:23

I hope you are managing to fend off the germs silly, and that the Ofsted inspection is going well green? Hello smerlin - I too have felt nothing and I am now nine days overdue! No mucus plug either... I had bad lower backache a while ago - I forget when - three/four days ago?! But clearly that meant nothing! I am resigning myself to an induction on Sunday. Good luck smallbee! You are definitely nearly there now! I too feel completely unprepared. I feel less prepared the later he gets - more time to flap I think!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Thu 10-Oct-13 20:45:32

Can I join in please? I might be a bit early for this thread, I'm only 37+4 but dd came at 38+1 so I might be a tad early again.

GeorgieJo Thu 10-Oct-13 20:47:43

SmallBee really good luck for tomorrow! Hope it all goes well for you.

I am now 40 + 5 hoping that a sweep tomorrow might start things moving. Have been having some BH and on/off backache for a couple of days, but doesn't seem to amount to anything. No sign of plug either :-(

sweetiepie1979 Thu 10-Oct-13 22:55:00

Yes goodluck tomorrow Small bee!
I know midwife will want to give me a sweep tomorrow but they really freak me out, didn't have one last time, are they sore?

GreenSunrise Fri 11-Oct-13 05:28:05

Ofsted inspection went well and they left DH's school yesterday afternoon. Good job as my waters have just broken!!

Iheartcrunchiebars Fri 11-Oct-13 05:45:52

Hi all can I check in at 39+3? Feel like a ticking time bomb!

Great news Green Sunrise!

gainsbourg Fri 11-Oct-13 08:08:45

Yeay! Exciting times green! Good luck! All the best today smallbee. I'll be having a sweep today too sweetie. I had a failed one last week which didn't hurt at all (but then, it didn't work, so...). I think people say they're mainly just uncomfortable.
Welcome Iheartcrunchiebars!

star87 Fri 11-Oct-13 08:38:24

Gluck o all you lucky people having your sweep today and greensunrise I dont think you could have timed it better!

Still the same here... lots of bh and very sharp and painful stabbing pains in my lower pelvis.

Have sent oh off to golf this morning to give me a bit of a rest. He's convinced my waters are going to break during the england match tonight!

star87 Fri 11-Oct-13 09:13:59

*good luck!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Fri 11-Oct-13 09:27:00

green that's great news on the Ofstead inspection, so exciting that your waters have gone. Hope everything goes smoothly

silly hope you have avoided the sickness bug, it's just started going round where I live too

sweetie how are you feeling, sorry you have spd, I remember that feeling your pelvis is going to crumble.

smallbee best of luck today.

Smerlin Fri 11-Oct-13 10:34:00

Great news greensunrise ! Hope your OH has some energy left for supporting you through labour now- I was emotionally and physically exhausted after my school's Ofsted!

sweetiepie1979 Fri 11-Oct-13 12:01:07

Good luck green surprise! What happens now do you hAve to wait on contractions?
We'll I've just been to midwife decided I would have assweep but when she checked baby's position she felt it might be breech! She thought that 2 week's ago went for scan and baby was Head down engag'ed. Can a baby be 2/5 ths engaged and then turn breech? Surely that couldn't be possible? When she first felt me today she thought all she could feel was neck down there
then when feeling for position of bum she thought it felt too hard and could have been more like Head than
bum.... Had to phone husband to come home early
again! He said midwives over reacting and baby not
breech, like he'd know! Argument ensued as he was
stressed and I said I'd get bus to hospital which would take an hour. He hascsincebpboned to say it's ok
This is more important he'll be home didn't want me sitting on bus. But I've just eaten loads of chocolate and Had a big cry! I feel like such a burden on him no family near by for either of us. I keep getting false pains and he has had to come home from work a few times. I feel likesuch a handful this time. And iI wish this spd would bugger off so I could go for a long walk.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Fri 11-Oct-13 14:27:58

Oh sweetie poor you. My midwife has been convinced this baby is breech but I think he just has a skinny bum, every scan he has been head down.
Don't feel bad about your husband having to come home early, this is a really short time when you will need a bit more attention and support. Sorry you have spd it's so bloody painful, hope it eases up soon.

GreenSunrise Fri 11-Oct-13 15:24:22

Contractions started pretty much as soon as waters went though were not painful at all. They got to 10 minsaapart so I called triage because I am trying to do vbac and so my M W had said they would want to monitor me from that point. Triage said to come in so that they could check that my waters had definitely gone and by the time d h got home from work they were3 mins apart! But when they examined me at hospital I wasn't dilated at all and so I have been sent home and have got to go back tomorrow morning for induction. Contractions are really painful now so I have taken painkillers and am doing lots of rocking against furniture and on the fit ball. If it stays this painful I don't know how I will get through the night without going back to hospital and begging for drugs! D H has gone for a lie down to prepare himself for the next few days, he was up with D S last night

Sorry not to name check other posts, not finding it easy to concentrate much at the moment!

AbsFun Fri 11-Oct-13 15:38:46

Can I join in? I'm 38+6 and must say completely fed up!! Am having a little boy and all my friends due around the same time are having their babies! I'm so uncomfortable, have lost my mucus plug but nothing seems to be happening!! I cry nearly every day at the thought of possibly being pregnant another three weeks! What has everyone done to pass the time waiting for their little one? Glad to know I'm not the only one waiting around /:

Green sunrise go back to hospital now - if the contractions are getting much more painful you could easily be further along/dilating now and give birth before morning.

How did your scan go sweetie?

sweetiepie1979 Fri 11-Oct-13 17:31:13

Green surprise that's awful they sent y ou home don't spend the night rocking just go back to hospital.
My scan is fine Head is down. I feel so down though what's the matter with me? Shouldn't I be all excited about this new baby instead I just feel oh God I've got to go through Labour and I've no energy and then I have to look after a baby and a toddler and I'll be knackered! That's a terrible attitude to have!! Is it normal for hormones to play up at thus time? Somebody tell me to get a grip. What I'd really like is to go off somewhere in my own and give birth I've not seen any friends don't want to.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Fri 11-Oct-13 19:49:46

green I feel for you, coping with labour at home is no fun. Got to hospital if it gets too painful.

sweetie sorry you are so exhausted.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Fri 11-Oct-13 19:52:53

abs hi I'm having a boy too. I could go another 4 weeks (really hope not).

I'm getting very waddly and uncomfortable. A 70+ year old offered to take my trolley back into Tescos yesterday and I let him blush he was way more agile than me. Such a nice chap.

AbsFun Sat 12-Oct-13 13:23:13

Whenshewasbad I hope you're not either! I have been eating chili sauces non stop trying to get this baby to move out but he just seems so cozy in there! Some lady told me to sit down the other day at tesco! Imagine haha I just wanted to I home and cry!! I know exactly how you feel, let's hope something happens soon for both of us!

star87 Sat 12-Oct-13 13:46:58

Afternoon all! Any new from green? I hope things moved alomg quickly for her.

I am rocking on my ball as I type with a mug of rasperry leaf tea... been eating spicy pepperami and am planning a hot cuery for tea. The through of another 3 weeks of this makes me want to scream!!!

I love my oh and family to bits but if my mum rings me one more time to ask how I am then I may lose it with her. Rant over.

GreenSunrise Sat 12-Oct-13 16:47:00

Been back into hospital today for monitoring but got sent home again as there are no beds on labour ward and so they can't induce me, I have lot to see if they have space tomorrow. Contractions are getting more painful but are really erratic, last night they were overwhelming 5 mins but only lasting for 30 seconds if I kept walking up and down the stairs or every 10 mins lasting about a min if I just sat on the sofa. I almost reached the point of telling D H to take me back to hospital but then they eased off just after midnight to overwhelming 30 mins so I got a little bit of sleep. I just wish these contractions would either do something productive or just stop!

GreenSunrise Sat 12-Oct-13 16:47:55

Every not overwhelming although at times they were that too!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Sat 12-Oct-13 18:23:00

Oh green that sounds annoying. Hope things speed up for you naturally.

Donna1989 Sat 12-Oct-13 18:25:18

hi ladies new to mumsnet and would just like abit of advice.. I'm 38+2 and today has been like any other day but just more intense had back ache since this morning that I can cope with and also a shooting pain every so often to my left side above my hip just were baby would lay id say this has gone on all day and been having irregular tightnings too which have become more intense to were I feel breathless, also ive felt baby move but just not as much, I'm just wondering wat ud think it could be or if you've had this too?? I lost my plug the 29th of last month and still loosing tiny bits also had 2 bowel movements so I knw am not constipated lol xxxsmile

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Sun 13-Oct-13 08:25:11

Hi donna I don't really have much advice just wanted to say hello. With my first dc I had loads of braxton hicks that got stronger towards the end. I thought she was moving less but it was just that my bump was so hard with the braxton hicks I couldn't feel the movement.

Yours could be the same, if there is a lot less movement I would get in touch with your midwife / midwife unit. Best to be careful with these sort of things.

Donna1989 Sun 13-Oct-13 08:41:43

smile morning!! grin hanks for your reply I think maybe that's wat it is, well not long now my lil bean has got till Tuesday to decide if she is coming or not lol I'll be getting my induction date then as they don't want me going over 40 hope ur gd xx

GreenSunrise Sun 13-Oct-13 11:57:27

Hi all. Baby girl born this morning at 3.13 by c section after 46 hrs of contractions. 7lb5, feeding and sleeping well already :-)

Went back into hospital last night when contractions suddenly got to every 3 mins and were very very painful. I was only 2cm but they admitted me given the pain I was in and the fact that they had wanted to induce me today anyway. I got some diamorphine which was great, made me feel really drunk but it slowed down contractions so I also got the induction drip. After 4 hours baby's heartbeat was dropping a bit during contractions but the doctors couldn't check her oxygen levels because I wasn't dilated enough for them to get a sample of blood from her head so we all decided to go for a c section to be on the safe side.

So I didn't manage to get my vbac but I am happy that we did the right thing and this was a much better experience than when I had D S so am very happy. I was very grateful for the contractions to stop by that point, she was back to back and I had to stay on the add for monitoring and the induction drip so they were getting very painful even with the drugs and gas and air.

Sending good, speedy labour vibes to everyone helping and thanks for your supportive comments on this thread over the past few days :-)

Donna1989 Sun 13-Oct-13 13:29:28

grin smile congrats hun xxxx

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Sun 13-Oct-13 14:36:18

That's great news green 46 hours of contracti

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Sun 13-Oct-13 14:37:47

Contractions sound horrible you must have been a bit pissed of to be only 2cm. It's great that she's feeding well.

sillyoldfool Sun 13-Oct-13 16:51:49

Congratulations Green!

I'm still here, 5 days over now, the sick bug seems to have passed us by, DD1 hasn't been sick since thursday and no one else has had it, so hopefully we're free of that.
two friends who were due after me had their babies last night though, it's not fair!
<stamps feet>

sweetiepie1979 Sun 13-Oct-13 22:56:32

Congratulations green! That's wonderful, you did very well to cope with that. I'm still waiting still getting bh mostly in back. Nothing else. Weighed myself today I'veput in 3 sstone eeek! And I'm small so you can see it!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Mon 14-Oct-13 18:25:02

silly well done for avoiding the sickness bug, sorry your friends are jumping the queue and having babies before you - how rude grin

sweetie stay away from the scales, they only bring pain.

Midwife app today and she says baby is 3/5 engaged so things are moving in the right direction.

Donna1989 Mon 14-Oct-13 21:59:50

sweetiepie1979 Tue 15-Oct-13 14:15:47

Oh God just waiting on these babies is enough to give you mental health problems! Up you can stay a little bit upbeat I read the clary sage oil I'm using to bring on contractions is a mood enhancer so I'll be upbringing my tea soon, I feel like such a burden to my husband! X

sammythemummy Tue 15-Oct-13 17:06:41

New to this thread smile im 38+3, had bloody show on Sunday...been having back pains but nothing else.

Donna1989 Tue 15-Oct-13 17:22:50

LabradorMama Tue 15-Oct-13 20:30:05

Hi all can I join in? 38+3 and extremely fed up. I'm huge, restless, irritable and have absolutely no signs of imminent labour. No BH, no mucus plug etc but did have some stabby fanjo pains last week. Baby is not engaged, still spinning round regularly (either a bum or feet sticking out at all times) and very very active. Feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever and ever sad

sweetiepie1979 Tue 15-Oct-13 20:44:27

Welcome Labrador, hang in there I'm 40 +6 with loads of signs and that dosent seem to make any difference! Last time I had no warning and went quite quickly on due date. Wasn't expecting it to be like this this time. How you feeling Donna?

LabradorMama Wed 16-Oct-13 17:10:44

Thanks sweetie and donna - midwife this morning said baby is now only 3/5 palpable so at least something is happening (and explains the backache as it is still back to back)

Fingers crossed all babies get moving soon. I'm with you princess!

sillyoldfool Wed 16-Oct-13 17:12:49

8 days overdue now...
It's full moon on Friday so maybe we'll all suddenly go into labour then!

sammythemummy Wed 16-Oct-13 18:15:13

Some of my waters have gone at 6:45am....but still no contractions almost 12 hours later <sigh>

sammythemummy Wed 16-Oct-13 18:16:05

How do they check is baby is fully engaged?

sammythemummy Wed 16-Oct-13 18:16:38

sweetiepie1979 Wed 16-Oct-13 19:03:08

Hi Sammymummy they check by digging their fingers in to your pubic bone area just above. Some of your waters have broke... So do you just wait now? Did you speak to Midwife about it?
sillyoldfool, your waiting too, you had a sweep? Midwife will offer Me one tomorrow I dint know what to do?
How are you doing Donna?

star87 Wed 16-Oct-13 20:00:06

Hi all, sorry no one seems to be progressing very quickly!

My waters broke at midnight, no contractionsby 10am so called the midwife unit, they told me to go in to be checked, apparently it wasnt my waters because there wasnt a gush?!?! Then fkund out that my hospital is closed to new admissions as , abour suite is closed!

Was told that I 1cm dialated and am now having strong contractions. Am hoping thus is finally the start...

sweetiepie1979 Wed 16-Oct-13 21:51:39

Oh great that'd exciting, so if it wasn't your waters did you wet yourself? Good luck!

sammythemummy Wed 16-Oct-13 23:02:47

Hi sweetie thanks for the info, this is my dc2 but I had my waters broken the last time so new to this part of pregnancy.

I called midwife earlier today, she told me to come in as it sounds like my waters going. I havnt gone in yet just because I wanted to wait for my contractions to start before going in, and I also thought they would have to do an internal examination which im trying to avoid.

For now im just going to wait till morning and then go in.

Good luck everyone and yay to star

sweetiepie1979 Wed 16-Oct-13 23:37:15

Ok well hope you have a comfortable night x

sillyoldfool Thu 17-Oct-13 05:48:51

I declined a sweep sweetie, I've had them with DD1&2 and found them really painful and they've never done anything so I'm steering clear this time.

windywoo26 Thu 17-Oct-13 07:21:01

Hi Ladies, can I join in? I am 38+2 with DC2. Now want to meet the final member of our little family. DS arrived at 38 weeks exactly so expected this one to be here already. He/she is stubbornly hanging on in there though! Baby has been 3/5 engaged (2/5 palpable) for at least 3 weeks so I am pretty uncomfortable. Will have an ELCS at 41 weeks if not here by then as am a VBAC case and they won't induce me. We still have to decorate DS' new room to make way for the baby in the nursery so maybe that's what it is waiting for! DS is 19 months and am finding being heavily preggers with a v active toddler a bit hard. Today DS is at nursery for the first time since I finished work so looking forward to some quiet me time.

sweetiepie1979 Thu 17-Oct-13 12:09:42

Hi windy enjoy your quiet day mine is tomorrow! How old is dc1? My DD is 2.3 and it is hard isn't it?

Hi sillyoldfool did you into Labour naturally then with your other 2 or did you have to be induced?
Midwife came to see me this morning she offered a sweep I said yes because I'd prefer that to an induction but she couldn't reach ny cervix baby is pretty much engaged but cervix not reachable. That happened when I went for sweep with dd1 and I went in to Labour that night so I don't think it means much. I'm booked for induction next Wednesday will try to go before. Maybe try acupuncture or reflexology anybody know which Is better. Having an induction seems such a faff didn't realise they send you Home after the first bit!

sweetiepie1979 Thu 17-Oct-13 12:11:31

P.s Donna what's going on with you? And star and Sammy? Any progress?

windywoo26 Thu 17-Oct-13 12:26:17

Hi Sweetie, DS is 19 months. It is pretty hard going. We are lucky he is a great boy and thankfully sleeps really well, which makes things much easier.

I am a similar position re cervix sweetie. MW attempted a sweep on Monday and couldn't do it as cervix high and posterior. Baby all ready to go though.

I am having reflexology this afternoon so will let you know. We had problems conceiving DS and I had reflexology and acupuncture throughout that pregnancy. I found acupuncture more effective but really like my reflexologist. I tried to get an acupuncture appt for today but my lady was fully booked so booked the reflexology instead. I have not had either treatment this time, harder to get time with a LO to find a sitter for (no family close by to ask unfortunately).

sillyoldfool Thu 17-Oct-13 12:38:13

I was induced with DD1 a week after the sweep, I went into spontaneous labour with DD2 the night before I was due to be induced, which was again about a week or so after the sweep.

star87 Thu 17-Oct-13 15:19:47

No progress from me, everything seems to have tailed off. Lost huge but of the plug last night and today and have been having really painful leriod type pains. Its just a waiting game... :-(

Donna1989 Thu 17-Oct-13 15:59:22

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Thu 17-Oct-13 22:38:25

Argh I lost the thread and missed a birth. Congrats on your little girl donna

Really excited there are lots of new people about to pop too. I'm 38 + 4 and the baby is 3/5 ths engaged. Loads of braxton hicks today so maybe it won't be too much longer.

star87 Fri 18-Oct-13 08:05:05

What a beautiful name donna I hope are all settling in at home.

How is everyone else doing?

Donna1989 Fri 18-Oct-13 09:03:44

thanks everyone and sounds like ir that's what I had was veey uncomfy with the hicks so requedted sweeps and they helped me hun xxxx

Excited85 Fri 18-Oct-13 09:23:15

Can I join? D day today for me but so far only very occasional BH (perhaps 4, ever!!) no show etc. baby been engaged for a couple of weeks but without the BH or show I'm guessing I could still be waiting a while? Bored now and desperate to find out if I'm having a little boy or girl!!

sweetiepie1979 Fri 18-Oct-13 10:37:51

Hey Wimdywoo how was reflexology?

Smerlin Fri 18-Oct-13 11:05:09

Congratulations Donna!

Excited85 I am in the same situation as you- 39+3 and nary a sign that this baby might want to come out!

Have had a slightly dodgy tummy for the last two days which could be a sign or I could have eaten something dodgy- the stomach pains get me all excited and then I just end up running to the loo! blush

Excited85 Fri 18-Oct-13 11:07:33

Haha Smerlin I'm even jealous of that. Not a single sign :-( but what can you do! Tempted to try reflexology or accupuncture so interested to see what Windywoo has to say.

windywoo26 Fri 18-Oct-13 11:39:08

I think it was actually quite useful. Last night I had more Braxton hicks and more discharge, which could have been the start of the show. I certainly feel like things are more active now. It was relaxing at very least. Will defo go again next week if still no baby.

We are desperately trying to decorate DS' new bedroom to get him out of the nursery to make way for DC2. DH has finally got his act together and we did one coat of emulsion last night and one this morning. Now just two coats on the accent wall and we are done! Only taken 8 months of nagging! Will relax a bit when it is sorted.

sillyoldfool Fri 18-Oct-13 22:08:50

DD3 decided to make an appearance 10 days overdue today at lunchtime. 11lb 8oz of squidgyness arrived after about five hours of labour. grin
Hope tonight's full moon works it's magic for some of you!

sweetiepie1979 Fri 18-Oct-13 23:09:02

Sillyoldfool that's amazing! What a weight! Fantastic congratulations. Where are you tonight Home or hospital? How
Do you feel? Xxx

sillyoldfool Fri 18-Oct-13 23:22:48

In hospital, she needs to pass some obs for blood sugar because of her size, and she had some meuconium in her waters. Should be home tomorrow though.
I feel fine, just achy and tired. My last baby was 10lb 3oz and back to back all the way out, 11lb 8 the right way round was a lot better, though definitely harder work than DD1 who was only 8lb!
It was the first labour I've escaped monitoring and that gas and air worked for me, brilliant stuff!

sammythemummy Sat 19-Oct-13 06:21:22

Congrats to donna and sillyold

sweetie still pregnant sad im officially 39 weeks today.

excited iv had the mucous plug come out, bh, diarrhea, some waters going and STILL no dc hmm
You might give birth before me with no signs!

windywoo26 Sat 19-Oct-13 07:40:27

Congrats sillyold! Wow, what a size, well done you.

After thinking things were starting to move after reflexology on Thurs there was nothing again last night but at least I had the best nights sleep I have had in a while. We have also only got one coat of paint on one wall of DS' new room to paint. Doing that this morning and then hopefully I will at least be able to tidy the nursery as currently just has a walk way to DS' cot!

I have a sweep booked for first thing Tuesday but might start the day with raspberry leaf tea and end it with a take away curry!!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Sat 19-Oct-13 10:34:05

silly congrats, although 11 pounds 8 shock really glad you are both doing well

smerlin I know what you mean with the dodgy tummy. Mines been dodgy pretty much all pregnancy but I'm expecting it to get much worse when labour kicks in.

windy glad your dh is getting on with the decorating, I don't know why they take this leisurely approach to it. So annoying. It sounds like you are gearing up for labour.

sammy sorry there's no signs of labour, still you never know it could all happen suddenly.

I remember getting a massive surge in energy the day my waters went with dc1. So I'm waiting for something similar to happen, so far l've just been knackered so I don't think anythings going to happen today.

Excited85 Sat 19-Oct-13 10:39:40

Anyone else feel like they're going backwards?! Am officially overdue now and still no show/nesting/toilet issues etc! Getting a bit fed up of being such a lump as everything is an effort now :-(

Keep getting teased, was getting what I thought were contractions for 6 hours last night, all about 20 mins apart with cramping lower down and sore back which then just completely stopped around half 2. So sleepless night also. Anyone else want to join my pit of misery?!!! Might call up for a reflexology apt for early next week see if that gets anything moving....

Donna1989 Sat 19-Oct-13 11:00:28

dodgy tummy may be a sign I had it for a few days xx

Donna1989 Sat 19-Oct-13 11:03:29

sillyold congrats hun, my LO found her lungs last night guys ofically had my first sleepless night haha but wouldn't change it for the world how you all getting on? sammy, sweetie any signs xxx

windywoo26 Sat 19-Oct-13 11:09:55

Woohoo!! I have a tidy(ish) nursery and a painted room for my little boy! REALLY pleased with his bedroom, will look fab with a few finishing touches. All set now for baby Windy 2 to make it's appearance. Am now in a bit of a tidying frenzy, not had anywhere to put stuff with two bedrooms being a complete state, even DH is joining in!

I know what you mean about going backwards. It is so frustrating. I don't tell anyone about any twinges or pains now as beginning to sound like the boy that cried wolf. With DS my waters suddenly went in the night with no warning at all so never had any of this frustrating build up. S'pose we should all make the most of the calm before the storm.

star87 Sat 19-Oct-13 11:19:31

excited I feel your misery. I had contractions everything 6-7 minutes for 5 hours and then they tailed off :-( they were extremely painful and I thought it was finally it! So a sleepless night a very grumpy me today!

sweetiepie1979 Sat 19-Oct-13 12:22:47

I can't believe I'm still pregnant!!!! 9 days over lit's of spd pain nothing else and can't stop spending money that i don't have!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Sat 19-Oct-13 14:35:27

sweetie 9 days over. Urgh that sucks anyway without adding spd into the mix.

star I would have been on my way to the hospital with contractions like that.

I keep getting strong braxton hicks but they are definatly not real contractions. Baby keeps ramming his head on my cervix so I think he wants out too.

sweetiepie1979 Sat 19-Oct-13 16:28:14

I reckon I'll have to be induced, what actually happens does anyone know? Is it really sore I'm trying to avoid epidural due to spd

sammythemummy Sat 19-Oct-13 17:58:10

Still nothing donna...been having slight cramping pain in the evening, but nothing during day confused

9 days sweetie! Poor you! I really hope baby is due soon. Never been induced so I have no idea how sore it is.

Just been told by the midwife i tested +ve for Groub B strep sad First time iv had it and trying not to worry with all the scary stories online.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Sat 19-Oct-13 18:15:37

sweetie I don't know I've never been induced, I've heard it can make the contractions more painful. Make sure your midwives know you have spd and they know how far you can open your legs.
Hope you go into labour naturally

sammy goggling is a nightmare for stuff like this. I always thought they just put you on antibiotics during labour.

windywoo26 Sat 19-Oct-13 18:41:09

Sweetie, sorry no experience of induction either. Think it can make everything more intense, especially as there is no time for the body to gear up gradually.

Sorry to hear about your strep infection Sammy, have they said how they are going to deal with it? So hard to avoid google but try and take the scare stories with a large pinch of salt as people never write if it all went smoothly, which is probably in the vast majority if cases. At least you and the midwives know so they can act appropriately.

Donna1989 Sat 19-Oct-13 19:36:35

awww no sammy and sweetie gunna be careful wat I say as I'm not 100% but have spoke vaguley about induction with my MW there's 2 options 1 been a pessary that they put up ya woowoo lol to soften the cervix to help dilate and bring contractions can take anything from 1 hr to 24 hr for it to work, I don't knw if itl hurt as havnt had one but I guess itl be like a thursh pessary if u have had one and then lsbour which may obviously hurt lool did me anyways also there's a drip havnt heard much of this but aparently speeds things up.... I suffer/ surpffered with spd whilst giving birth to katie, whilst I was having contractions i noticed both my legs were in a lot of pain as she was moving further down so I opted for the epidural..... this slightly helped me as it numbed the pain in my hips and thighs but just felt like I had mild cramp while pushing in my legs so just pulled both my legs back as far as I could and cradled myself and stopped my legs moving and stopping causing me any more pain and stress however it might work for u might not but go with ur gut instinkt if u want it get its ur mind helping u haha well that wat a thought anyhow xxxx

sweetiepie1979 Sat 19-Oct-13 21:07:45

Oh Jesus! I'm dreading it! Feeling totally anxious can't believe my first baby arrived on time and this been my secone I'm going to have to be induced ahhh

windywoo26 Sun 20-Oct-13 09:41:26

How's everyone doing this morning? Nothing new here. Bored of waiting already.

GreenGiant3 Sun 20-Oct-13 09:51:27

Can I join?smile I'm 38 weeks and completely fed up, I'm massive and find it difficult to move, I'm at that "fed up stage" sad

Hope everyone else is doing well? I've been redding previous posts, any signs of any babies yet? smile

sweetiepie1979 Sun 20-Oct-13 10:17:46

Morning all welcome green giant, I'm still waiting 20 days over please happen today......

sweetiepie1979 Sun 20-Oct-13 10:18:46

Wow not 20 days over 10 days over! Phew!

Excited85 Sun 20-Oct-13 10:34:06

Morning all. Nothing to report here either. 2 days over and fed up! Am trying my best to enjoy these last few days just me and dh but is easier said than done when every movement is such an effort.

Sweetie unfortunately I know diddly squat about induction but am sure they will be used to seeing women with SPD and will adapt/make suggestions accordingly. Fingers crossed your little one just shows up today of their own accord!

Donna1989 Sun 20-Oct-13 13:33:35

you never know sweetie today might be the day xxxx

sammythemummy Sun 20-Oct-13 16:14:19

I need to be put on antibiotic drip as soon as im in labour, not looking forward to the discomfort of the iv drip alongside contractions sad

If my husband asks me if im having any pains yet I think ill bar him from being at the hospital

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Sun 20-Oct-13 19:33:40

Hi green I know what you mean about being huge and uncomfortable, I'm 39 weeks today and massive and fed up. Dd came at 38 weeks, I can't believe this one is taking his time.

sweetie 10 days over sad hope something happens soon.

windy not much to report here today, had a surge of energy and a desire to clean everything but now I'm shattered again.

sammy hope the drip doesn't annoy you too much in labour, if it makes you feel better contractions hurt loads and will take your mind off the drip grin hmm

GreenGiant3 Sun 20-Oct-13 20:00:03

10 days! Oh god I feel for you!! Hopefully soon, love. I pray I don't get that far, I am now having to roll out of bed, cannot get comfy and feel like I need a crane to turn over, it's like a 3 point turn in the car confusedgringrin

When- I went over with DS, 6 days (had him 40+8 though) PRAYING that this one comes before though, has anyone tried acupuncture? I'm seriously considering it...

Just purchased a birthing ball today so will be parking my bum on that, raspberry leaf tea doesn't seem to be doing much, anyone else tried this? Tastes lovely though smile

Annagramma Sun 20-Oct-13 20:32:48

Hi, can I join?

Only two days past my due date, but I feel so waddly. DM keeps texting to ask if the baby has arrived. angry Does she really think I'd just give birth and not tell her?

GreenGiant3 Sun 20-Oct-13 20:36:29

Anna, ikwym its a nightmare, I have the same people asking me every day too it's tiring and very annoying confusedhmm

DottiestDoris Mon 21-Oct-13 05:55:38

Hi, anybody on here at this time? 40+4 today and DH and I DTD at 10 last night then 90 minutes later I started having contractions every 5 minutes. Currently in birthing unit bouncing on a ball but not feeling as though things are progressing. DH is snoring and im trying to keep calm but worried they're going to send me home again.

windywoo26 Mon 21-Oct-13 07:59:54

Fingers crossed for you Doris. Keep bouncing!

Hi Anna, that is frustrating. I think everytime I phone DM she thinks so am going to tell her I have had it so feel like our conversations are a bit of a let down.

Had a relatively good nights sleep which makes a difference. Have DH home today and tomorrow which also makes things a bit easier with DS.

Today I am planning on booking lots of nice things, like pedicure, reflexology and acupuncture for the end of the week so I can look forward to them and hopefully cancel them if baby arrives, either way I win!

Donna1989 Mon 21-Oct-13 09:14:07

how's everyone feeling any closer?? sweetie please tell me something has hapoened for you lol 3 weeks over now arnt u xxxx

Donna1989 Mon 21-Oct-13 09:15:14

awww keep going doris things can. change within minutes good luck keep us filled in. xxxx

Excited85 Mon 21-Oct-13 09:56:49

Aww good luck Doris! We dtd last night also but no luck for us! Getting really fed up though did have quite a lot of back pain yest and so far today along with feeling sick so wondering if it's getting close.

anna isn't it annoying! My mum is paranoid I won't tell her bit bless her is trying not to hassle me. Mil on the other hand has rang everyday from over a week before due date with the dreaded 'any twinges' question so that's now 11 days in a row! She even turned up at the front door first thing sat as they were 'passing' and just thought they'd pop in and see if any developments. Dh popped round yesterday and yet she still called a few hours later to ask again... Argh!!!!! Sorry rant over!!!

I've been so placid through this whole pg but now starting to lose my rag a little... Perhaps it's a sign...! Or just wishful thinking!

DottiestDoris Mon 21-Oct-13 10:04:35

Hi everyone, thank you for your encouragement. Just as I was about to suggest we

DottiestDoris Mon 21-Oct-13 10:09:42

Oops; smart phone. ..not! Just as I was about to suggest we go home, things ramped up. A lot. Baby Rory born after two pushes in the birthing pool at 7.25. I don't want to sound smug as I was getting so frustrated at the wait. All I can say is, I had no inkling of labour at all; watched Downton Abbey as usual; had to force DH into dtd and less than 90 minutes later contractions had begun. Hang on in there all xx

Excited85 Mon 21-Oct-13 10:34:08

Fab news Doris, congratulations! And a great name too!

GreenGiant3 Mon 21-Oct-13 10:42:46

Well done and congratulations Doris xx

sweetiepie1979 Mon 21-Oct-13 11:03:22

Doris fantastic! Welcome to the world Rory! Right I'm having sex tonight( oh God slightly dreading it) also canceling my induction on Wednesday can't face it with Spd. I'll try and do it alone and see if they give me to next Monday maybe baby just not cooked certainly not ready anyway I'm now 11 days over.

Donna1989 Mon 21-Oct-13 12:14:08

yeeyyy congrats doris, and sweetie don't know were I got 3 wks from haha and probs be easyier as u want to wait till they ready wink like people say they come when they are ready, sure they can't stay in everyones tums foreva lol xx

Smerlin Mon 21-Oct-13 13:23:33

Argh has anyone gone into labour without any signs in advance? Due date is tomorrow and so far no sign that this baby might want to come out- no plug, BH or anything- feel the same as ever, just more fed up and more uncomfortable!

Excited85 Mon 21-Oct-13 13:26:18

smerlin I think I wrote your exact post last week! Apparently some people don't have any signs but unfortunately I'm now 3 days over and still haven't had a single sign nor do I have a baby yet .... Not happy! Hope you aren't waiting as long as me! x

sweetiepie1979 Mon 21-Oct-13 14:57:12

Smerlin my first baby went from no signs and midwife not able to reach cervix foresees to baby born 12 hours lafter. However can you excited go to the back of the line please no jumping the cue !

windywoo26 Mon 21-Oct-13 19:21:12

My midwife told me last week 'never trust a pregnant woman' as things can move really quickly and as sweetie said they can think you are a while off but everything can change within a day.

With my first I had no signs at all and my waters just broke. Did not have cramps, show of anything I am desperately hoping for now!

windywoo26 Mon 21-Oct-13 19:22:14

Congrats Doris! Welcome to the world little Rory (love the name) xx

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted Mon 21-Oct-13 20:40:46

Congrats to Doris. Very impressed with all the dtd.

sweetie no jumping the queue grin you're definitely next then.

I'm annoyed as my first sign of labour was a big surge in energy. However this time I've had two surges of energy (in between feeling knackered) and nothing's happened angry

windywoo26 Tue 22-Oct-13 13:01:06

Hey ladies,

Seen the mw this morning. Baby has dropped slightly but cervix is still posterior. It has softened slightly from last week but not really looking like anything is imminent. As a positive my blood pressure is lower than I think it has ever been! Baby is obviously quite happy in there. Will meet it in 2 weeks whatever.

How is everyone else doing this morning?

sweetiepie1979 Wed 23-Oct-13 18:30:09

Ok progress 12 days over and had a sweep not painful at all! Am 2cm dilated and cervix soft. That was at 3 today. Just Been to toilet some brown streaky bits and red bits plus some tightening so is this it?

GreenGiant3 Wed 23-Oct-13 18:58:23

I hope so sweetie! Sounds like your on your way!! smilesmilesmile Keep us updated x

sweetiepie1979 Wed 23-Oct-13 19:09:28

Congratulations sweetie, well done! Love the name too. Ask to see the bf counsellor ASAP if you are having problems. They got someone to see me same day when I had issues with DS. Good luck xxx

No news with me, crampy and twingey but nothing concrete. Had reflexology yesterday and acupuncture today. DS was in nursery yesterday and today so have had a couple of restful days which has been amazing, just what I needed.

MyfavcolourisOrange Sat 26-Oct-13 09:48:15

Hello - can I join please? I'm 39 + 2 with my first and so excited/nervous /impatient - mainly impatient!

Baby due on Halloween but I'm currently bouncing on my exercise ball hoping it'll get things moving earlier! smile

sweetiepie1979 Sat 26-Oct-13 15:07:30

Goodluck my favourite Orange! Donna I've given up already I'm just expressing I hate breast feeding I find Labour nit really that painful at all sore and hard work but I've never taken any pain relief. When it comes to breast feeding I feel like I need an anaesthetic it's the worst pain in the world. So feeling liberated I've made the decision early on this time!

Donna1989 Sun 27-Oct-13 07:44:23

it is painful though so don't blame u I'm in 2 minds also to carry on or express might have t express cause been in agony every 3 hrs is not going well lol how's baby doing? my tiny has got colic so that's quite destressing at times as well just wish I could take it away xxxx

windywoo26 Wed 30-Oct-13 07:08:16

Hey Ladies,

Am now 40+1. I had a sweep yesterday that went well. My cervix had dropped and was soft. The doctor was able to do the sweep which is a good step forward from last week. They weren't able to give me a c section date as they had no theatre space until mid Nov and I am only allowed to go 1 week over. Registrar's advice was long walk and sex tonight!

I am feeling really frustrated though. Not long after the sweep I started feeling really crappy and uncomfortable. I started having contractions (painful and just as I remember with DS once they started). They started about 6 last night and I started monitoring them about 8ish. They were getting closer and more intense and then just started to get erratic again about 10.30-11. Wasn't sure whether to stay up bouncing on my ball or try and sleep while I could. Opted for the latter and everything just tailed off. Got up again about 12 to see if I could get things going but no joy.

With DS I was so lucky that everything kicked off with waters going and never had this start stop bit. Just want to meet my baby now. Will be curry for tea, lots of pineapple and raspberry leaf tea for me today. Will see if I feel up to DTD tonight, so uncomfortable I am not sure but if it gets stuff moving it would be worth it.

How is everyone else doing?

BummyMummy77 Wed 30-Oct-13 11:16:55

Good luck Windy!

I'm so uncomfortable. I slept 2 hours last night.

Baby has just gone from rot (horrid transverse position) to loa (woohoo) though. Although he nearly killed me doing it. 3 hours of the worst pain ever.

I'm doing a belly cast today as a couple of mummies say it brought them into labour. smile

CuteLittleToes Wed 06-Nov-13 16:06:14

It takes 5 minutes to move into a new position which hurts 1 minute later.

40 weeks today and nooooo sign.

Next person that texts, calls, emails, whats apps, vibers, asking if he is here and WHEN he will be here is getting yelled at. sad

gubbinsy Wed 06-Nov-13 17:39:10

40+1 here and getting very grumpy. First baby so no idea how it will start - just wish something would!

GreenGiant3 Wed 06-Nov-13 18:35:19

40+3 here, second sweep today that was unsuccessful and a huge waste of time!!! Induction booked and I'm feeling so fed up, I feel like baby isn't going to come on own accord sadsadsadsad so teary!!!

Fakebook Wed 06-Nov-13 20:08:05

39+5 here and have been having period pains and loads of contraction type pains today but really irregular. sometimes 1-2 hours apart and at other times 15-20 mins apart. I'm hoping it will be over and done with by Friday or Saturday. Friday is my due date.

I've also had enough. I can't sleep properly. I can't eat anything without it coming back up as acid. I can't drink water without weeing every 2 seconds (that's been the case from week 12). Just want it over with now.

PinkParsnips Wed 06-Nov-13 20:37:59

Hi everybody! Can I join you?

39+3 here and nothing's occurring ...

Had period pains most of the evening yesterday which got me a bit excited but today not a sausage. Haven't had my show, no twinges, no nesting instinct, no feeling of baby being particularw low....nothing! Haven't even felt any BH whatsoever! although I have noticed my bump feeling hard occasionally since last night. I just don't think this baby is in any rush at all confused

Got midwife on Fri when I'm 39+5, was only 1/5 engaged at 37+5, not sure what the policy is here on when they offer a sweep.

Hope its not too much longer for us all!

Fakebook Thu 07-Nov-13 10:45:52

Pink, is this your first baby? The hardening sounds like BH, maybe they're starting off slowly? I was offered a sweep at 40 weeks with dc1 and again at 41. I went overdue with my first and induced, was in labour on my due date with dc2 and am hoping the same for this one.

I had 2 cramps last night in bed and having been having a few this morning feeling pressure in my bum with every cramp.

It's like nothing is pushing along. I was on the exercise ball last evening and did some squatting. Today I'm going to Hoover upstairs and do some more squatting. I've got to pick dd up from school at 3pm, my biggest nightmare would be my waters breaking when I'm outside. I just want to hibernate now.

PinkParsnips Thu 07-Nov-13 16:19:02

Ooh that sounds promising Fakebook, sounds like something could be happening, a slow start for you too maybe?! Fingers crossed!

How did your appt go Angus?

Yes its first baby, I thought it was baby's bum pressing out at first when my bump went hard but I think maybe it was BH. I've had a few period pains today too. Feeling quite upset today actually, been a bit worried as baby has been pretty quiet today had movement but a lot less than usual, phoned triage for advice and they were really dismissive and said as long as I felt 10 movements in a day thats fine and that babies do slow down at the end - everything that I've heard is outdated advice now - I tried a few times to explain how 10 movements a day for my baby would be extremely worrying actually as its usually very active but she really made me feel like a bit of an idiot sad

Anyway the little bugger has woken up a bit now and I'm keeping a close eye but it made me feel like crap really. Sorry for the moan!

BummyMummy77 Thu 07-Nov-13 16:52:31

Anyone else suddenly really breathless? I'm assuming he's gotten so big he's taken up all my lung space but it's only happened today.

BummyMummy77 Thu 07-Nov-13 16:53:16

Quiet can mean something is happening. smile

CuteLittleToes Thu 07-Nov-13 17:20:41

Pink, I have a very active baby too, but s/he does have a bit quieter days sometimes. It is quite stressful when they do that though, isn't it? Try not to worry too much, I'm sure bubs is fine smile

GreenGiant3 Thu 07-Nov-13 17:21:18

Bummy I've been getting a bit breathless at points the last few days too! I'm 40+4 - MW says my cervix is still pretty closed! Can this mean delayed labour? Induction booked for next week confusedsad

BummyMummy77 Thu 07-Nov-13 20:03:04

Green- delayed f@*king WHAT?! I hope not!!

I want my lungs back!

I can't be induced until 43 weeks and that will be a nightmare as I have no medical insurance. sad

Fakebook Thu 07-Nov-13 20:46:51

Wouldn't breathlessness mean the baby is still quite high up? I've still got terrible acid reflux but no breathlessness.

Pink, I know it's worrying when they stop moving for a bit. I had to listen in with the Doppler today, first time in 4 months because she hadn't moved all morning. As soon as I pressed down she started sticking her bum out!

My cramps have got more painful but still really irregular. They're also really low down in my lower belly and shoot down to my cervix and bum. I haven't even booked my 40 wk appointment for next week with the MW. I don't know if its worth bothering? It's my due date tomorrow!

BummyMummy77 Thu 07-Nov-13 21:59:29

That's what I figured. sad

Acid is awful now. It's like he's moving upwards lol!

Shooting cramps sounds good. Well, not good but progress.

Babytalkobsession Fri 08-Nov-13 06:35:04

Ooh glad this thread has started up again! Hi everyone, I'm 39 weeks today and starting to get a bit impatient! It seems crazy to actually want the pain to start!

Had BH/ tightenings but no show and bump still seems too high to me. Have to wait til next Fri for next MW appt so no idea what's happening down there (if anything!) actually feeling pretty comfortable so can't complain... Just desperate to get started & meet my little boy (first baby).

Pink - how are your movements now? Mine were slow yesterday so shared your worry but were strong in the night so felt a lot better.

Anyone had any overnight developments? x

Fakebook Fri 08-Nov-13 10:07:35

Hi babytalk, hope things get started for you quickly! Last time my show appeared out of nowhere, no cramps or anything. So you never know, things may still be progressing nicely for you.

Bummy, I've been taking calcium carbonate chewable tablets everyday for weeks now. The worse is waking up in the middle of the night with sick in your mouth (sorry tmi!).

Again nothing progressing here. My pains seem to stop during the night, or I sleep through them. I've had about 10 already this morning. Keeping positive that each cramp is dilating my cervix (hopefully).

Hope everyone else is well.

Babytalkobsession Fri 08-Nov-13 10:28:08

Happy due date Fakebook! Hope things start to speed up for you today. You're right, every cramp is definitely a positive. My fingers are crossed for everyone x

BummyMummy77 Fri 08-Nov-13 10:31:07

Ug. Horrible tummy pains all night. And some hammering in the vjay. Moves to my back/bum occasionally and I just feel like I need to do the world's biggest poo.

It's either the start of labour or I'm constipated but considering I had diarrhoea yesterday cant see how that's possible.

Bloody midwife has gone away for the weekend too. sad

Fakebook Fri 08-Nov-13 11:36:06

Thanks Babytalk!

Bummy, that sounds like the start! Good luck! Let us know how things are progressing!

BummyMummy77 Fri 08-Nov-13 14:17:12

Hmm, managed to drop off to sleep and now - nothing.

Does having a baby just feel like you want to do a massive poo? Nobody told me that!

How are all you others doing? Any progress? Exciting isn't it? I was starting to think I'd have an Xmas baby!

DaleyBump Fri 08-Nov-13 14:23:54

Can I join? 37 weeks tomorrow so earlier than a lot of you guys but I have an appointment with a consultant on Tuesday to discuss induction.

I've heard that Bummy grin

CuteLittleToes Fri 08-Nov-13 18:12:32

Just came back from mw appointment. Feeling really miserable - it was cold, pouring rain, and I ended up waiting for a bus for over 20 minutes, being late for appointment (mw didn't mind at all though), and then waiting another 20+ minutes for a bus back with some drunkards at the bus stop...

Feel a bit better now that I had a cuppa and some choc digestives grin

Also baby 1/5 engaged, which I know means nothing but that's some development! Also she said that it looks like it'is a long baby, so maybe a boy? grin

NovemberAli Fri 08-Nov-13 18:29:58

39+1 today so would like to join you lovely people on the countdown. Have already been fielding the texts re, 'Haven't you had that baby yet?!', I'm not even due yet, aargh!

DD (now 3yo) was 10 days over so may have a bit of a wait, think she doesn't really believe baby will ever arrive it has taken so long, starting to feel that way myself now. No signs yet either but sweep booked in for next Thurs and that seemed to get things going last time.

Sending dilating wishes to everyone smile.

Fakebook Fri 08-Nov-13 22:39:29

Yes when it gets to the pushing stage it does feel like doing a great big poo! But towards the end of pregnancy the baby's head pushes down and that can cause an urge to poo aswell. grin.

Glad you feel better now CuteLittleToes. The rain was depressing today. It started as soon as I had to leave for the school run which was crap.

NovemberAli, I know what you mean. I don't even know that many people yet I'm receiving messages and calls asking me if I've popped yet. And everyone is so excited! I'm not!

Things have progressed nicely today. I've had my show a few hours ago and it's coming away in dribs and drabs. Yuck. I just cleaned the kitchen and mopped the floor for last minute cleaning! Phoned my sil to let her know. All systems go now. Might have a shower and squat a bit then sleep. Oh and I ordered these really cute flannelette swaddling blankets from Amazon that were supposed to arrive on the 12th but they came today! Must be a sign, baby has to be here by tomorrow. Or else.

CuteLittleToes Sat 09-Nov-13 08:50:41

Ooh Fakebook how exciting! Any more overnight developments?

Fakebook Sat 09-Nov-13 12:19:15

Unfortunately no sad. I'm still getting painful contractions but far apart. Squatting a lot today. I want this baby out by tonight.

BummyMummy77 Sat 09-Nov-13 12:50:41

Bad babies! What the hell are they playing at? sad

GreenGiant3 Sat 09-Nov-13 12:54:58

Been contracting since 10am seem to be getting a bit more regular/more intense now... Hopefully this is it and not ANOTHER false start, not getting my hopes up though!

Wish me luck ladies, hopefully this is it. smile

Fakebook Sat 09-Nov-13 15:51:54

Good luck GreenGiant! Hope you've had baby or are in full labour now!

Still getting painful contractions, slightly more regular now. I've found a new technique to minimise pain; I hold onto the back of a chair, slightly bent, and march on the spot. My DS is copying me by sitting on his football and squatting, it's making this whole process a bit more enjoyable and funny.

How is everyone else today?

Sod all happening here.

NovemberAli Sat 09-Nov-13 19:24:11

Ooh Greengiant and fakebook, sounds very promising - any further developments? Have had to rearrange facial originally booked for today to next Wed - surely that's tempting fate enough for baby to make early appearance!

GreenGiant3 Sat 09-Nov-13 22:19:04

Still the same as when I last posted DC1 was 50+ hours so I'm thinking this little bambino is the same sadsadsad

Fakebook Sat 09-Nov-13 23:11:44

Same here. I'm so pissed off. It's my third baby, why did everyone tell me it would happen quickly? angry.

Going to sleep now.

StormBird Sat 09-Nov-13 23:26:01

hi all......is it too soon for me to join you?

I'm 38+3 with dc2and really hoping I don't go overdue like I did with dc1 - he wad 10 days over and ended up 10lb 4oz!!!!

GreenGiant3 Sat 09-Nov-13 23:47:33

Storm welcome!! smilesmile

I got a sweep at 39+4 so ask away, didn't do anything for me though, she told me it went well but it obviously didn't I'm still here at 41weeks confusedsad lol

BummyMummy77 Sun 10-Nov-13 00:48:29

Hi Storm.

I'm shitting myself, this baby is visibly (and can see on the scales) getting bigger EVERY DAY he stays in.

Fakebook and Giant, I'm sorry, I've got my fingers crossed for you.

My little toad is making NO signs of coming out. I'm starting to panic a bit, the last thing I want (can do) is a hospital trip. sad

DaleyBump Sun 10-Nov-13 01:04:31

We've just got a new mattress. It's memory foam and I just CAN'T move when I lie on it because I'm the size of a small planet. I keep having to wake up DH to get him to push me off the bed so I can go and pee blush

Thought I was leaking waters earlier but it seems to have stopped. Had a lot of crampy back pain too so really thought something was starting sad

ZingWantsGin Sun 10-Nov-13 01:15:54

hi all, call me Zing!

I gate crashed the first thread with my smarty pants advice, serving ice lollies in the the of summer and offering gentle massages.
I started the second one as they kept on disappearing to give birth and I the thread was filling up.

So I thought I'd check back, just in case I could help again and hold hands.

I have had 6 children and so had a bit of experience - do ask me any questions you like, nothing is TMI to me anymore!grin

I'll be here to cheer you on too, if needed.

good luck!

DaleyBump Sun 10-Nov-13 01:25:59

Hi Zing! What colour socks are you wearing?

ZingWantsGin Sun 10-Nov-13 01:33:53

black socks. hth grin

DaleyBump Sun 10-Nov-13 01:42:33

ZingWantsGin Sun 10-Nov-13 01:50:17

btw, Congrats on your wedding! (you thread crasher!) grin

BummyMummy77 Sun 10-Nov-13 02:12:02

Hi Zing.

Daley, I got one of those mattresses. I can't sleep on anything else now but I also need a good shove to get out of the bed.

Dh also had to build me a step to get into the bed.

Oh the glamour.

DH commented tonight that I'm like a little, grumpy slug. (I unknowingly left a bit of a trail on his favourite cashmere blanket after sitting on it after my shower. This discharge is out of hand!).

DaleyBump Sun 10-Nov-13 02:23:23

Thank you! Sorry for crashing your thread, I didn't mean to!

Grumpy slug, that's fantastic grin

ZingWantsGin Sun 10-Nov-13 03:13:35

don't be silly, it was a lovely way to end it!smile

grin @ grumpy slug

Fakebook Sun 10-Nov-13 06:12:07

grin at Hi Zing! What colour socks are you wearing?

Giant, I don't know about you, but I'm willing to try some of that sparkly airy fairy labour dust that often gets passed on by women on the wide web! Hope things have moved on for you now. It's crap being so close yet so far.

My contractions are about +- 10mins apart now. Quite intense. DH is waking the children and packing them up to take to my brother's. then I'll wait an hour and go in I think.

gubbinsy Sun 10-Nov-13 09:52:40

Hope you don't mind me butting in. I really thought it was all happening yesterday - contractions from about 5.30am - lasting between 30 secs to a minute around every 4-5 minutes. Painful but could talk through them and breathing help - definite peaks in each one. This then went on all day! Had a bath, took paracetemol but nothing changed. Eventually went to hospital about half five as hadn't felt much movement. Baby all fine but cervix completely closed. Was so depressed!
Have lost plug (or at least some of it) so something obviously happening and baby apparently very low. Came home and managed to go to bed and sleep after more paracetemol (was my biggest worry as had actually been awake since 3.30am the night before). All stopped now apart from odd bit of cramping.

Trying to get myself positive and think that this at least means something is starting but the idea that this could happen again for a while is quite depressing and terrifying! Anyone else had this?

BummyMummy77 Sun 10-Nov-13 10:27:31

Oh Gubbinsy that's rubbish! How far are you?

No signs here. Midwife is back from her mini holiday tonight so may go for a long walk and ask hubby for some sperm.

GreenGiant3 Sun 10-Nov-13 11:17:22

Gubbinsy, I could have written your post, I posted yesterday the same kind of situ except I didn't go to the hospital, I was reluctant as last week I had the same start stop, now mines have completely subsided!! So annoyed looks like I will be getting induced on Wednesday as planned sad this is SO frustrating isn't it sadblush when were you due? X

gubbinsy Sun 10-Nov-13 13:42:04

Helps to know others have the same! Was due on Tues so 40+5 today. Lost a massive bit of plug this morning and getting intermittent lower back pain today - also just exhausted so trying to rest as much as possible!

Green - it's just so frustrating isn't it! Hope yours gets going again soon. It's sort of made me dread things starting again and more fearful of the pain as well although was coping ok I think!

Fakebook Sun 10-Nov-13 19:54:47

Hi all! Baby girl born about 2 hours ago. Not weighed yet. Very spaced out right now, but very happy. Keep moving about everyone and I can't recommend squatting enough!! Good luck!

gubbinsy Sun 10-Nov-13 20:00:37

Massive congratulations to you fake. Will try the squatting!

TwoTearsInABucket Mon 11-Nov-13 10:47:24

Can I join? i am 39 weeks today. I have a sweep booked next week, but hoping it won't come to that. Although several people have been telling me when I can't have the baby as its not convenient for them! I know all in jest (apart from my DM and DF as they have something on this week, so wouldn't be able to drop everything and look after DS and DD). Grrr. This baby will arrive when it arrives.

Congratulations Fakebook, squatting sounds interesting, if you have a minute between the glow of new baby and extreme tiredness I would be grateful for some tips! thanks

gubbinsy i hope all is kicking off for you now.

GreenGiant3 Mon 11-Nov-13 10:51:16

Welcome TwoTears smilethanks

I would also love some squatting tips smilewink

TwoTearsInABucket Mon 11-Nov-13 10:57:07

GreenGiant3 - thanks! i hope it all kicks off before you need to be induced.

BummyMummy77 Mon 11-Nov-13 11:42:02

Welcome 2teats.

I've had enough this morning. So tired in throwing up.

All excitement has gone, I just want to crawl into a hole and lie there forever.

GreenGiant3 Mon 11-Nov-13 15:05:18

Bummy I'm the same, sick of all the phone calls and texts too hmm I feel so drained sad

CuteLittleToes Mon 11-Nov-13 15:35:23

Welcome TwoTears - looks like we are due date buddies? I'm due on 18th!

TwoTearsInABucket Mon 11-Nov-13 16:52:24

Yes, 18th as well! Although at the dating scan she said I was six days ahead but didn't change the due date as it wasn't seven days ahead!
Dunno if that makes a difference now...
Have you had any twinges cute?

Fakebook Mon 11-Nov-13 19:06:25

Thank You everyone! We're both home safe and well and I'm patiently waiting for some soup DH is making. I'm absolutely starving. Dd2 (wow! I have 2 Dd's!) isn't latching on. Absolutely new territory for me as both my other 2 had no problems breastfeeding. I've tried everything but she's just not interested, so I'm worried she's hungry. Anyway, don't want to bore you! Oh although I will mention I didn't tear this time! That's a big accomplishment for me!

TwoTears (welcome!) and GreenGiant, Squatting is like when you do a wee behind the bushes in the park. A bit like a frog hop. Put your hands on the ground and bob up and down. Or sit on a small exercise ball and put your knees on the ground and kind of roll the ball with your bum. I did this a lot in the last few weeks whilst watching TV.

TwoTearsInABucket Mon 11-Nov-13 20:16:12

fake how lovely to be home already! Did you tear before? I tore last time, a 3b tear, so I am heartened to hear your news! I hope DD2 eats something soon.
Thanks for the explanation of the squatting. I haven't been doing anything apart from lie on the sofa so I best start soon smile

StormBird Mon 11-Nov-13 22:42:22

congrats Fake. such lovely news.

These Braxton hicks / early contractions or whatever you call em.......i know they are meant to feel like tightening across the top of your bump but can they be accompanied by sharp shooting pains up your fanjo grin and the distinct feel baby is trying to push her way out?? the pain was enough to stop me in my track!

I had exactly this a few hrs ago....lasted about an hr or so and now nothing. I had none if this with dc1!

StormBird Mon 11-Nov-13 22:44:03

I should mention this all kicked off after an mw appointment...she was a little bit heavy handed when feeling my bump!

NovemberAli Mon 11-Nov-13 23:02:34

Congratulations Fakebook! Glad to hear you're home and doing well - my DD1 wouldn't latch on for first couple of days. I gave her colostrum from beaker and syringe and expressed for a week (offering boob first then bottle) till she got the hang of it. I'm sure she'll be guzzling soon!

Fingers crossed you're not waiting too much longer Bummy and Greengiant, sounds like you're both really suffering.

Stormbird- I've never been sure what are BH, stretching pains or early contractions either I don't think I had any last time but can't be sure! Baby is very active tonight hopefully warming up for labour!

Welcome two tears!

gubbinsy Tue 12-Nov-13 09:17:34

Well turns out my stop start was actually labour - baby born yesterday morning at 7.50am. Hoping to go home today if I can manage to persuade my bladder to wee on its own! Good luck to you all still waiting.

GreenGiant3 Tue 12-Nov-13 09:31:08

I'm hoping nothing happens tonight as I am knackered!

Tiredsparrow Wed 13-Nov-13 01:23:04

I was due on the 9th, so 40 weeks + 3

I'm exhausted!!

Didn't quite have time to check in yesterday - poor DP off sick with bad cold. He's staying home today too.

Welcome ushuaia, I'm due on 18th as well! Not a lot going on though, getting lots of BH, but been having them since 20 weeks, so don't see them as anything exciting... Have an odd period cramp in the morning and in the evening, but they are not painful at all and I could really easily not even notice them... I think baby is getting lower though. MW appointment next Wed so we'll see then!

Good luck green on your induction, hope you'll be cuddling your little one tonight!

I've been having contractions every ten mins since about 7pm maybe and every half an hour before that. They last about 20 seconds and are now getting a bit sore! I am hoping this is it!

StormBird Wed 13-Nov-13 23:13:16

good luck green and twotears!! looking forward to your news.

BummyMummy77 Wed 13-Nov-13 23:31:39

Come on girls you're on the home stretch!

(she says through jealous, gritted teeth :D)

TwoTearsInABucket Thu 14-Nov-13 00:38:08

It will be you soon I promise. Still on the sofa contracting every 10 or so mins while DH sleeps upstairs.
I am knackered and its nowhere near time to go to hospital. Arse.
Where you in America bummy?

GreenGiant3 Thu 14-Nov-13 02:49:02

I got pessary just after 7pm they put me on monitor and came back 30mins later to see I was contracting and not allowed to go home! Just came to labour ward at 1.30 got epidural and I'm just relaxing, DP is "bored" grin he thought it was going to be more eventful gringrin I'm having an amazing labour so far... Hopefully the rest goes as smoothly smile

Fakebook Thu 14-Nov-13 04:26:58

Green, epidurals are the best thing ever invented! I slept through labour with dd and an epidural!

Good luck!

Twotears, try resting between contractions now and practise your breathing with each one. Deep breath in and release gently as the contraction peaks and subsides. Good luck!

GreenGiant3 Thu 14-Nov-13 05:28:49

Thanks fake smile got my waters broken, love this epidural although it's making me Sooooooo itchy confusedgrin

Hope everyone else is doing well x

HMT13 Thu 14-Nov-13 07:27:20

Good luck greengiant! smile

BummyMummy77 Thu 14-Nov-13 07:35:45

So exciting! I'm in Maine on an island in the sea.

2am and wide awake as usual. Have some back pain and just threw up so that's encouraging.

Funny both your dps are a bit underwhelmed. Give them a few hours and their panic levels will rise lol.

Fingers crossed for you girls. smile

StormBird Thu 14-Nov-13 10:11:26

I have what feels like a stitch going down the right side of my bump yet I've done nothing to get a stitch!! also have a bit of an achy lower back and to top it off I have been really sick about 4 times since yesterday evening (worse this morning). could this be it!??? please be it!!!!!

CuteLittleToes Thu 14-Nov-13 10:26:22

How exciting, any babies yet? grin

BummyMummy77 Thu 14-Nov-13 14:03:59

Storm, I'd say could be but don't want to get your hopes up.

I've had cramping all night (again) and it's getting worse. I've thrown up a couple of times too. Maybe we're going into labour, maybe it this 'practice' bullshit my MW keeps talking about, maybe we have stomach flu lol.

I do know he's turned totally anterior during the night which fucking HURTS but he's dead on to come out.

StormBird Thu 14-Nov-13 15:21:24

bummy.....i must be THE grumpiest pregnant woman on the planet right now....i just spoke to my mum on the phone and my dad shouted 'hi darling' from the background.....i replied with a 'whatever'!! rude...yes! could I help it...nope! shock

BummyMummy77 Thu 14-Nov-13 16:06:33

I've been really short with my Dad. I feel awful after I've spoken to him. I'll make an effort to be nice next time he rings me.

My grumps have gone (for now). I'm bouncing around the house listening to old skool and cleaning. Poor baby is like "what the hell Mum, you've not been off the sofa in a week, now I'm going to fall out!"

TwoTearsInABucket Thu 14-Nov-13 20:14:44

baby boy born 10.25 this mornin. 7 hour labour, two stitches. Boy won't wake to feed tho. Boo.

CuteLittleToes Thu 14-Nov-13 20:56:20

Congrats TwoTears! thanks

Any names yet? How big was he?

StormBird Thu 14-Nov-13 21:18:36

congrats twotears and very well done grin

ems1910 Thu 14-Nov-13 21:28:47

Signing in here, think I am allowed? 38+1.

Not sure I will be able to keep up with it though, must be a very fast moving board! Congratulations to TwoTears!

So many cramps and backache, wet but it's not waters (well, I assume it isn't, I have been checking). Generally all a bit grim but hey ho!

BummyMummy77 Thu 14-Nov-13 22:03:53

Congrats two tears. :D

Helllooo thought id join in if im allowed. 37+4 and babies head is very much engaged!!

isitme1 Fri 15-Nov-13 09:56:24

Just want to say good luck to you all.
We had a thread like this 4months ago and it helped with the waiting game!

BummyMummy77 Fri 15-Nov-13 12:03:57

Ug! After all afternoon and evening of cramps then contractions and awful back pain it all stopped.

I swear dh thinks I'm putting it on. sad

HMT13 Fri 15-Nov-13 12:29:18

Ah bummymummy I was exactly the same as you yesterday. And now nothing. I'm so frustrated! Due date is tomorrow so not overdue yet I suppose. Really thought something was happening though confused

BummyMummy77 Fri 15-Nov-13 13:44:54

It's SO frustrating isn't it?!

I'm 10 days over so this is taking the piss now!

HMT13 Fri 15-Nov-13 14:14:05

Oh poor u! I'll be tearing my hair out by then!! Hope things get moving. Have you booked in to be induced? And have you had a sweep? I've got one booked on weds (hoping not to make it that far!)

HMT13 Fri 15-Nov-13 14:14:32

A sweep on weds - not an induction.

TwoTearsInABucket Fri 15-Nov-13 14:43:49

Hey bummy hang in there.
Good luck everyone!
We are home now, yay. Eddie is 7lb 6oz and is now feeding, hurray!

GreenGiant3 Fri 15-Nov-13 15:17:00

Hi everyone,

After my last up date When I had my waters broken I gave birth to my beautiful son at 7.06am ! He weighed 8pounds 14ounces.

My labour was amazing, and very much pain free, I was only pushing for 8 minutes and didn't tear!! smile We were our the hospital by 1pm, so nice quick discharge! I would do it all again tomorrow! grin

Just enjoying having our beautiful baby boy home, he's so perfect I couldn't be happier!! thanksthanks

TwoTearsInABucket Fri 15-Nov-13 15:40:19

Congratulations green, great news xx

BummyMummy77 Fri 15-Nov-13 15:48:32

Congrats GREEN! I'm all teary now.

Two tears, I love the name Eddie, it's my favourite brother's name. smile

HMT13 - no sweeps, inductions or anything. Homebirth. Going rapidly off the bloody idea. They won't induce until the 28th. If I go till then I'll be a nervous wreck lol! I'm sure you'll have him/her before Weds. (Finger's crossed).

It's so weird, in so much pain yesterday and last night then at 12am it stopped completely and I got the best nights sleep I've had in months. Really odd. It's like my body knew 7 hours sleep in 3 days just wouldn't see my through labour and gave me a break.

Pains coming back now. Blugh.

StormBird Fri 15-Nov-13 16:23:52

congrats green. grin

bummy....holding your hand! I had dc1 at 40+10 I remember the wait. it was infuriating!! but he was worth it. chin up and keep venting on herewink .

the wait is prob why I'm so determined not to go overdue this time round angry .

read my pg notes last night and in the engaged column it said 4/5ths which cheered me up....until I realised that it said 4/5ths palpable which in theory means only 1/5th engaged. it really annoyed me....i couldn't get to sleep!!

had a bit of retail therapy this morning then on to the park for a very long brisk walk with ds and sil.sil happened to say that star jumps might help so I did 5 in the park and wet myselfconfused blush ! it wasn't my water's!!!angry

StormBird Fri 15-Nov-13 16:26:16

forgot to say however....since said brisk walk (TMI ALERT) I've had a bit of gunk when I wipe. its clear but snotty.....i was overjoyed I text dp to tell him lolgrin

HMT13 Fri 15-Nov-13 16:43:47

How far on are you stormbird? I lost my plug on weds night and more on Thursday. I was so excited! Just had a long dog walk and actually feel the best I've felt in ages. Hoping my body is giving me a break before it all gets going!?
Maybe that's why you had such a good sleep bummy? Hoping it will happen for u tonight! Good luck with the home birth, I'm sure all will be fine.
Another Friday night bouncing on my gym ball...

HMT13 Fri 15-Nov-13 16:45:23

And congratulations greengiant! That sounds like such a perfect birth smile

CuteLittleToes Fri 15-Nov-13 16:59:12

Congrats Green! Really happy you had such a nice birth!

Bummy I hope the stop start labour and then good night's sleep was your body gearing up for the big event! Hang in there, no one has ever been pregnant forever grin

So exciting some of you are losing plugs and getting contractions. I just get random BHs...

Went for a very slow walk and now my back and hips are just killing me...

Last night discovered I got stretch marks confused They are not that bad tbh, and I know they will fade, but I guess I just didn't expect them to happen... No idea why I was so surprised, especially as I do have some teenage growth stretch marks on my sides already grin

Also (TMI alert!) decided to trim my garden yesterday, as it was getting out of hand... Whilst doing that managed to poke myself with scissors... It hurt less than I thought it would, but I didn't expect it to bleed so much! shock

StormBird Fri 15-Nov-13 18:00:00

HMT13 I'm 39+1. due next Thursday 21st. trying everything to make her have the same standard if time keeping as her mother and not her father grin

cute - my hips are hurting now too, I'm hoping any kind of discomfort is a good sign.

ems1910 Fri 15-Nov-13 18:20:08

Heavy discharge this after but not really show like. Had 'the arse' all day and tightening/pain while walking around the city centre from about 4.

In the bath now to ease them, fairly sure it's just practising!

HMT13 Fri 15-Nov-13 18:52:30

Ah not long to go then!

Hope you all manage a comfortable (ish) night or at least get things started!

CuteLittleToes Fri 15-Nov-13 20:35:50

I think I'm having sciatic pain now... shooting all the way down my hip sad

BummyMummy77 Fri 15-Nov-13 22:41:34

Thanks guys. NOTHING now. All day. Ug!

Storm that's hilarious. If I did a star jump now my hips would pop out of joint, I'd throw up and I'd be in a&e within five minutes. Let alone peeing myself.

These bloody pains are a nuisance aren't they?!

Although I had a good moan to my midwife and she said to remember that every pain does a bit more of the work and gets you a bit closer.

I'm not sure if she's not just saying it to stop me going nuts and checking myself into hospital for a lovely induction with lovely drugs.

HMT13 Sat 16-Nov-13 04:11:52

Just a quick update. My waters broke at midnight. Went to get checked and was sent home and told to sleep. Induction booked for Sunday but contractions have started. Seem to be every 5 mins lying down so got up now to try and ease things.
Midwife has told me to hold off going in until I basically can't cope with the pain any longer, she said not to worry about contraction times? Does this sound right?

artyone Sat 16-Nov-13 07:56:05

Hello everyone.

I'm due today and fed up. No signs of labour at all. sad

ems1910 Sat 16-Nov-13 09:01:29

Hmt, I would say to be timing them if they are that regular, seems odd for her to say but I'm not a mw lol! Hope you are progressing well.

I've had more pains overnight. Waves of pain from about 5am. Midwife has cancelled as at a birth but is aware of pains. Said it could be head moving down. Have taken paracetamol and going to rest as much as possible.

HMT13 Sat 16-Nov-13 09:21:47

They've gone a bit more sporadic now but getting more painful.
Hope yours is the start of something!
Will start timing though smile

BummyMummy77 Sat 16-Nov-13 11:10:05

Def start timing. Go with your gut instinct I say. Excited for you! See how long they last too.

Good luck to you too EMS!

Welcome everyone else. smile

Nothing here over night. NOTHING. It's getting me down now, moving closer to two weeks. :/

HMT13 Sat 16-Nov-13 12:20:49

Averaging about 6 mins apart lasting 40-60 secs.
Need to have 3 in 10 mins or not be able to cope to go into hospital. Tired already, feel like there's a long way to go...

StormBird Sat 16-Nov-13 12:36:06

good luck ladies. grin thanks

BummyMummy77 Sat 16-Nov-13 13:13:25

I'm sorry hmt. At least things are moving though.

And remember, each one gets you closer to the end. smile

StormBird Sat 16-Nov-13 18:02:11

well done and congrats angusthanks

BummyMummy77 Sat 16-Nov-13 18:02:24

Congrats Angus!! Do you have a name yet?

artyone Sun 17-Nov-13 09:51:40

Congrats Angus thanks

Still no signs of labour here. 40+1 and getting no sleep due to hip pains so I would quite like baby to show up now before I become so sleep deprived I have no energy at all.

CuteLittleToes Sun 17-Nov-13 10:49:33

Congrats Angus!

Got some mild period like cramps this morning, very mild and not painful, and I'm sure I had them before. Will update if any progress but I don't think this is it.

Off to do some hoovering grin

BummyMummy77 Sun 17-Nov-13 12:34:44

Fingers crossed Toes.

I'm torn between going for a long walk and not wanting to tire myself out.

Seriously considering castor oil at this point. sad

CuteLittleToes Sun 17-Nov-13 13:28:58

Cramps didn't turn into anything, and hoovering gave a lot of back pain confused

I wouldn't recommend castor oil. Have heard not very good stories regarding labour complications and it causing baby to pass meconium...

ems1910 Sun 17-Nov-13 13:48:58

Congratulations Angus!

BummyMummy77 Sun 17-Nov-13 13:59:59

That's the problem, anything but lying down makes my back fall apart then I'm just miserable.

I'm just really hoping he comes soon or it will be the castor oil. Rather that than $50,000 upwards and a mean obgyn.

ems1910 Sun 17-Nov-13 14:06:59

Constant backache all day, few mild cramps this morning. Midwife happy to visit if needed.

Am hoping the backache is a sign!

Bummy, a walk may help, just take it easy when you return...no castor oil! X

artyone Sun 17-Nov-13 14:32:10

Bummy I feel for you, I hope he comes soon so you don't need to be induced.

We get induced at 40+12 here so I have 11 days to go if mine doesn't make an appearance.

StormBird Mon 18-Nov-13 03:21:26

hi ladies...cute and ems...any news?? (bet you're sick of people asking that!)

arty...i hope the hoovering helped smile

bummy shock $50,000 to be induced shock wtf!! that's ridiculous. I didn't realise that it would amount to that. makes me feel a bit spoilt by the nhshmm . does insurance not cover the cost? I hope things start moving for you soon hun.

I'm awake yet again in the middle of the god damn night for no real reason other than needing a giant donkey piss grin . no signs baby is going to come before her due date other than the odd sharp twinge. all gunk when wiping has tailed off to a disappointing nothing. I've been keeping very active though to try and help things along but I'm feeling a bit disheartened at 39+4, especially when everyone has been so adamant that its unlikely we'd be overdue 2nd time around. I actually feel bored with it all now! I know it could all kick off at anytime but I hate not being in control or at least knowing an itinerary is in place and will be stuck to lol! grin .

StormBird Mon 18-Nov-13 03:22:25

sorry arty just realised it was cute doing the hooveringblush

CuteLittleToes Mon 18-Nov-13 07:31:52

Due date today!

Storm hoovering only gave me nasty backache... Had some crampy backache when I went to bed too, was even considering taking some paracetamol and was getting a bit excited but eventually it disappeared. How far along were you when you had your first, Storm?

Woke up as DP was getting ready to work, feeling really hungry... Just had some yoghurt and Waitrose choc tiffin in bed grin will try to fall back to sleep now...

Anyone had any new overnight developments?

StormBird Mon 18-Nov-13 08:15:14

hi cute. funny you say the hoovering gave you chronic back ache....i did the whole house yesterday with the same outcome. it wad def not labour related it just frickin hurt!!

I was 41+3 (or 40+10 whichever way you look at it). I just went with whatever I was told first time round but now I know better. ds ended up 10lb 4oz and 60cm long when he finally arrived, needless to say we ended up in theatre being preped for a cs. if the ventous didn't work! it did! on the 3rd and final attempt, however I do not want to go through that again and I swear that if I hadn't have raged at the midwives (exorcist styley) then they would've let me just continue to struggle to get him out by myself. in truth I went effing mental blush !!

PinkParsnips Mon 18-Nov-13 11:59:51

Hi everyone!

I haven't posted on here in a while, been feeling a bit grumpy!! grin

Huge congratulations to everyone who's babies have arrived!

I'm 41+1 today confused had one unsuccessful sweep on Friday and another one this morning. Induction is booked for Friday but the good news is apparently I'm already 2cm dilated and fully effaced which midwife said is great to say its dc1 and I've had no pains really! Am hoping that means everything should get moving soon. Had my show this morning too.

Fingers crossed for everyone

CuteLittleToes Mon 18-Nov-13 12:15:05

Oh wow Storm well done! Never heard of baby being 60cm... I bet you didn't bother with newborn sizes wink

That's very good news Parsnips, hope something starts to happen soon!

Feeling very hungry today... and feel I could sleep all day too...

CuteLittleToes Mon 18-Nov-13 13:05:16

OK, just had some brownish discharge... There wasn't a lot, but it's definitely not usual discharge... is that mucus plug??

StormBird Mon 18-Nov-13 13:24:11

it's possible cute....was it snotty (iyswim)hmm

CuteLittleToes Mon 18-Nov-13 13:34:48

A little bit, but it wasn't a lot. I googled some pictures (oh what wonderful pictures! grin) and it wasn't a big blob like on some of them, just a bit of brownish snot... like after blowing your nose? grin I think if it is my plug, it's just a part of it...

Also had more looser bowels second time today (not diarrhoea though)...

All of this is so TMI, but as many people say there's no such thing as TMI when you talk to fellow pregnant ladies grin

My DP is insisting my bump seems to be lower, but I'm not so sure. Baby was 1/5 engaged at 38+4 check up, although I still can feel his/her bum and feet in my ribs...

Oh well, we'll see if anything happens... I don't really expect anything to happen over the next few days anyway...

StormBird Mon 18-Nov-13 13:59:24

nope no such thing as tmi grin . lots of womens plugs come away in bits rather than big globs. we dtd this morning blush and I've just started to get clear snotty stuff when I wipe again, could be nothing though!

oh the joys!!!hmm

CuteLittleToes Mon 18-Nov-13 14:29:53

Had some blood when I whiped... not sure what to do? Nothing on pad, but it was quite bright on the tissue... bloody show? Should I call the hospital?

BummyMummy77 Mon 18-Nov-13 14:49:22

Storm - it's $50,000 upwards for a c section and the obgyn I'd have to go to has something like an 90% rate for Mums past their due date that are induced. sad And I didn't have insurance.

Congrats on everyone's mucous! I've never wished for snotty stuff coming out of my moomin so much in my life.

I had a complete melt down last night and this morning. I think I must have cried for 8 hours straight. He just feels too BIG. I'm going to get a scan Wednesday and may ask them to induce. I feel like me being this distressed and miserable is not going be good for him.

CuteLittleToes Mon 18-Nov-13 15:16:41

OK, now my blood is turning a bit brown and have some on my pad too. Also when I wiped had some snotty stuff in there too. Called the hospital and they said it does sound like bloody show, and if baby moving ok and it's not dripping bright red like a nosebleed then that's fine...

Was a bit freaked out concerned that baby stopped moving for about half an hour, but now started again...

Feeling restless now, can't stop walking in circles around the house...

Bummy I felt very emotional and teary for the last couple of days too - I've read it could be a sign of things happening soon... I hope it does for you flowers

HMT13 Mon 18-Nov-13 15:36:56

Well after a very long labour (52 hours from start to finish) I have my baby boy! So worth it! Will keep an eye on your developments ladies, good luck! smile

CuteLittleToes Mon 18-Nov-13 15:42:54

Congrats HMT! flowers

StormBird Mon 18-Nov-13 18:07:30

huge congrats hmt grin . wow at the length of your labour!!!

bummy....i really do feel for you hunnyfkmnfhyEhyyrhrufuEduruUsmile urRyyyhbdx. mendwink

BummyMummy77 Mon 18-Nov-13 18:27:28

HMT - Yay! Go you. Jeez you must be so tired. Well done chick. xx

Cute - I felt anxious, now I feel totally exhausted. Very strange. I've kind of resigned myself to not having him naturally at home now. There's no signs at all.

I'm trying to be zen but I know when he starts trying to turn again I'll be back in a sobbing heap telling dh this is the last time lol.

StormBird Mon 18-Nov-13 19:27:23

see this is what you 1st time mums are in for. ds did a poo mid post and then whilst I changed his bum, finished it off for me lol grin

sorry bout that grin

as I was saying I really feel for you bummy! fingers crossed you start to progress. I'm holding out for your news wink.

cute.....sounds VERY promising. if you have any cobcerns hun just call the hospital, that's what they're there for. good luck

artyone Mon 18-Nov-13 19:30:24

HMT13 Congratulations! Sounds like a long wait, hope you have some good newborn snuggles now.

Cute That sounds promising, hopefully something is happening now!

I'm now 40+2, still no signs at all, can have a sweep in a week. Tonight I've had curry for dinner and am going to jump DH later in the hope it helps.

JanieLovesLuckySocks Mon 18-Nov-13 19:32:56

hello ladies, i might pull up a chair if i may? currently 39+2 so hoping things might start sometime soon although not getting my hopes up as no signs yet! i might even seduce DH tonight for the first time in a while wink

StormBird Mon 18-Nov-13 21:06:38

welcome janie smile

currently bouncing on birthing ball in a vain attempt to get this BABY OUT shock

CuteLittleToes Mon 18-Nov-13 21:35:36

Great mind think alike Storm - I'm bouncing too atm grin

Getting some mild uncertain cramps, but not sure they mean anything yet...

CuteLittleToes Mon 18-Nov-13 21:35:50

LuckySocks13 Mon 18-Nov-13 21:37:00

Hi all. Baby is due on the 23rd. Think I have been loosing some waters since about 4.30pm. No other signs though so guess just wait and see what's going on?!

BummyMummy77 Mon 18-Nov-13 21:39:52

None of that crap works.

I've been doing all of it constantly for two weeks lol.

Bless dh, he's been coming out with some weird stuff and when I went to borrow his iPad see that he's been googling "how to cheer up your overdue wife".

He bought me a canvas and some paints and told me to use all of the raging emotions to do a lovely pre birth painting. I painted 'fuck off' and an angry face, may try to do some more tonight.

He's also buying a bottle of wine and making fondue and we're going to have a 'pretend you're not pregnant' dinner. He's told me to wear high heels and put some false eyelashes on. Fuck only knows what website he's been looking at! Website for pregnant prostitutes by the sound of it haha.

It may work, I can see the midwife turning up at 2am while I'm a bit tipsy, have a fake eyelash halfway down my cheek and smell cheesy.

Any progress for anyone?

BummyMummy77 Mon 18-Nov-13 21:40:32

Oh, crossed posted, fingers crossed cute!

LuckySocks13 Mon 18-Nov-13 22:03:50

Bummy Mummy your post has made me lol. Hope it works smile

ems1910 Mon 18-Nov-13 22:54:34

Thanks Storm for asking, all ok here, still got backache but not as severe. Query UTI :/ Midwife happy with movements and I can have a sweep next week on my due date! grin)

Congratulations HMT! x

ems1910 Mon 18-Nov-13 22:56:00

Welcome Janie and Lucky!

BummyMummy77 Mon 18-Nov-13 23:20:36

You have a UTI? Urg. Not good right now. Drink lots of coconut water. Works for me.

Welcome Janie and Lucky. smile

StormBird Mon 18-Nov-13 23:32:01

strong period type cramps going on here. can't seem to sleep through them and the pain is mainly in my back shock

BummyMummy77 Tue 19-Nov-13 00:06:48

Sounds good Storm! Hope it's not a false alarm.

ems1910 Tue 19-Nov-13 00:20:18

Ooo Storm. Hope this is it!

Bummy, have had a whole carton of cranberry this eve to try and relieve the pain, should get results back tomorrow or the next day! But the cranberry gives me heartburn lol! :/

CuteLittleToes Tue 19-Nov-13 01:52:20

Waters broke at about 10pm, went to hospital to get checked. Was having some contractions, but they were not strong enough, so back home now. They are getting much more painful now. Took some paracetamol and trying to rest/get some sleep now... Can't believe I'm in labour...

BummyMummy77 Tue 19-Nov-13 01:58:28

That's great Cute! Keep us updated, I have my fingers crossed for a nice, safe, fast delivery. smile

EMS, I used to get them every few months. Misery. Just drink more water than you think possible, flush it out. A bath may help for the pain.

StormBird Tue 19-Nov-13 05:36:30

ooooh cute......you could be in full blown labour by now. good luck hun.

ems...sorry to hear about the uti...what a bitch. flush it out like bummy said. thanks

still very uncomfortable here but have managed to sleep through most of it (hence no midnight posting). the pain is still mainly in my back and hips so could very well mean nothing but I'm hoping its doing something. I'm gonna drop my sprog to the childminder this morning and go shoe shopping shock grin . a good old walk will hopefully help. even I think this is a bit brave though.

StormBird Tue 19-Nov-13 05:41:36

Storm - so it's gone off again? Urg. Go shoe shopping I say.

How's everyone else doing?

Nothing last night. Not a friggin bean! Midwife comes today, will have a good moan at her.

I'm a lot happier now he's stopped trying to turn. For a couple of days the pain was unbearable and threw everything out of perspective.

I'm going to watch a whole series of sons of anarchy today (has anyone SEEN that Charlie Hunnam guy?! He runs around with his shirt off beating people up yet being sensitive- I think I love him) and try to make a cushion.

bummy....how did you get on with the midwife???

went into the town centre and did my shopping...the high street is a mahoosive big hill so I walked up and down it twice...went home had lunch and went back out for another walk round the next town centre along! I'M KNACKERED! hmm

haven't had any signs today so I'm now in bed watching the telly with clary sage burning away next to me. heard alot of mixed reviews about this stuff so decided against direct contact with it. I'll let you know if it helps

Did you get any shoes Storm? It's SO disheartening when you walk loads, nothing happens and you're just knackered with a back ache. My midwife has told me to stop if I'm not comfortable. She says I should be sleeping and eating right now.

Midwife came today, she says I'm definitely having contractions, I thought it was him flexing his legs lots. She says she's happy to send me for a scan but his heart rate is fine and he's moving lots so she suggests we wait until Monday then do a sweep. Then if that doesn't work, castor oil, then hospital.

Does clary sage smell nice? It's the one thing I haven't tried lol!

StormBird Tue 19-Nov-13 21:11:00

yes I did get sone shoes...well winter boots but they're lovely. I'm chuffed!! it's hard work shoe shopping when your so preggers and def not somrthing id recommend if your prone to swelling, hence the reason I ventured out in the morning..less swelling then!

I'm surprised the midwife is advocating caster oil, it seems to be a no go here nowadays! the clsry sage isn't unpleasant, it's different but I don't mind it at all! I'd rry the clary sage before the castor oik bummy. however, it did cost a tenner for 10ml....that's a pound per ml....rip off merchants grin

sorry for typos! blush

One thing I've not had is swelling. But my back has put paid to any shopping for the last couple of months.

I'll definitely try the sage. Castor oil is a last ditch attempt before the hospital which will almost certainly result in a c section which she knows I'm terrified of (obviously if it's a case of ds's safety I won't give it a thought). The obgyn I'd have there has a fantastically high c section rate already. Add to that the fact I'm old (36) and overdue and my midwife has said she'd be shocked if he didn't. And she loses all power as soon as she goes in with me and basically just becomes a coach.

wow they do do things differently over there eh!! it's great that you are actually having contractions...that is progress. I didn't get swelling in my 1st pg but by the end of the day I can be like elephant woman this time round...apparently that's carrying girls for you or so all my aquaintances like to point out!

by the way 36 isn't bloody old!! wink

I'm having terrible trouble managing a full nights sleepsad it's quite depressing! I'm so tired during the day I feel like I'm really not paying my ds enough attention. since being on mat leave he's become a proper little telly addict and its all my fault. poor child.

so I had the clary sage burner on by my bed until dp came to bed and blew it out...so a good 1hr or so.....nothing has kicked off though. I'll keep trying.

I can't believe there'sbeen no babies birn in this thread the past day or so...wheres everone gone??? wink

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind me joining at 38+5. This is my 3rd baby. I went overdue with both of my other pregnancies but this pregnancy has been so different, and I've had pains on and off in an evening for about a week now. Although, I don't want to get my hopes up too much on going into labour early.

I've read through the past few pages.

bummy I really hope things happen for you very soon

storm I'm struggling to get a full nights sleep too now, been up since 5:30am sorting washing as I'd given up trying to get back to sleep.

We're having a carpet fitted today, I've organised to go out with my mum tomorrow and I'm having furniture delivered on Friday, so hopefully that means baby will arrive as it's a really inconvenient time grin

Hello all. Sorry been awol. Welcome labradors!

How are we all? Storm and Bummy?

Period type cramps all afternoon here. Was 2/5 palpable on Monday. Not that that matters! Cramping is irregular but definitely waves with a peak. about to have a bath and take some paracetamol then relax with er boxset and I'm a Celeb...shhh, trashy tv smile

StormBird Wed 20-Nov-13 19:15:58

welcome Labradors smile I too went overdue first time round.....i really don't want to go 10days over again but it's my due date tomorrow and so far nothing sad fingers x all you best laid plans are interrupted by a new arrival grin

hi ems....crampy pains are a good sign....when was/is your due date again? enjoy your relax in front of the tv.

nothing to report here other than I'm finding it increasingly hard to move. I have an mw app tomorrow AM so I'm thinking I might lay it on a bit thick about how much I'm struggling to function now especially with a toddler in tow and no family around to assist. dya think it'll work. plus dp is working away and becoming increasingly anxious himself that he might not make it in time.

I'm starting to feel much more anxious myself as the days go by now too, struggling to relax and have very little patience which is not good for my poor little ds sad

hope everyone else is doing ok x

Sorry for the lack of updates.

Came back to hospital at 4 am yesterday, they only examined me at 9am and I was 9cm! Had water birth with only gas&air, and my gorgeous little boy arrived at 10.53. He was 6lb 14oz and is healthy and so perfect in every way... We named him Cian Patrick.

Sending some labour dust your way girls, I hope your babies will start popping out soon!

PS I don't know if it was definitely the cause, but my waters broke while I was sitting on gym ball... So would recommend that if you haven't tried it yet! Apparently it also helps the baby to move into optimal position and move down.
