How long did it take you?

I'm a TTCer and wondering what the average stats are on MN. How old are you and how long/how many cycles did it take for your BFP?

I'm 30, TTC DC#2, cycle 6 and bloody impatient!

For DC2, age 28/29, three cycles, mc, then three cycles, DC2.

This time, 31, five cycles, mc, one cycle.

Good luck x

Lozcat86 Mon 09-Sep-13 17:11:24

mrspaddy Mon 09-Sep-13 17:12:11

Ps.. The cycle that worked was the one where we ditched opks, I drank and partied far too much as had given up.. Hasn't even taken the folic acid that month. Also did everyday from day 11 not every other day as recommended. Hth

tumbletumble Mon 09-Sep-13 17:16:49

I'm 27, and fell pregnant on the ninth cycle the one where i resigned myself to it never happening, no OPKs just went with it and didn't worry. Hope it's not too much longer for you x

cathpip Mon 09-Sep-13 18:03:55

DC -1 cycle 27 currenlty 13 weeks

SeriousStuff Mon 09-Sep-13 18:21:18

DC1, 1 cycle, age 31 (due in 4 weeks!)

Took us slightly by surprise. During that cycle, we DTD every other day and used Conceive Plus if I needed some help!

I had the norovirus at the beginning of the cycle so not sure if my compromised immune system helped?!

Happilymarried155 Mon 09-Sep-13 18:21:47

26, took 2.5 years and needed fertility treatment in the end even though there was nothing wrong. It's still early days though so have fingers crossed!

keepitgoing Mon 09-Sep-13 18:46:02

2 years and ivf here too. I'm 31.

Pregnancy 1 - 1 cycle (loss) - 29
Pregnancy 2 - 3 cycles, although they were wonky from the loss - 29
Pregnancy 3 - 1 cycle (loss) - 31
Pregnancy 4 - 3 cycles, although again they were wonky from the loss -31
Pregnancy 5 - 1 cycle - 33
Pregnancy 6 - 2 cycles (loss) - 36
Pregnancy 7 - 13 cycles WTF - 37 - this pregnancy, now 11 weeks.

Never had an explanation as to why I could go from somebody who got pregnant pretty much straight off (holding onto them was another matter) and then suddenly not at all. Had loads of testing including lap/HSG which were all clear. For my BFP cycle I took loads of supplements which may have tipped the balance, and reduced DTD to only with positive OPK in case it was male factor. And had fresh pineapple core 2-6dpo. Everybody I know who tries pineapple core gets a BFP. Total coincidence, but perhaps the placebo effect..

Good luck!!

Pregnancy 1 - 1 cycle & twins.

Foxeym Mon 09-Sep-13 18:51:54

Chilli81 Mon 09-Sep-13 19:38:36

1st 2 cycles (loss) 28yrs
2nd 8 cycles= ds1 29yrs was starting to get stressed and had written off that month getting trashed at a friend's wedding.
3rd 1 cycle = 27 weeks 32 yrs

I know it's impossible to do once you start to stress but from all anecdotal evidence it happens when you are most relaxed/not thinking about it too much : easier d said than done!

Frizz1986 Mon 09-Sep-13 19:40:35

27 years old, dc1 and first cycle. Not quite sure how we were so lucky. Currently 22 weeks.
Had prepared myself (and hubby) for a long try as hoped it would help me to be realistic and not disappointed when it didnt happen straight away.
2 weeks later.....

CuteLittleToes Mon 09-Sep-13 19:41:20

First baby - 1 cycle - age 20

Second baby - 2 cycles - age 23 (Lost this baby in a MMC at 13 weeks tho)

Third baby - 3 cycles - age 24, currently 32 weeks pregnant!

Our cycles seem to follow which baby it is, will be interesting to see if baby number four would take 4 cycles haha

Good luck with TTC x

Very best of luck, fifi!

Anothermrssmith Mon 09-Sep-13 21:59:20

Age 28 and currently 21 weeks pregnant with my first, took about 5months to conceive. Thought I was ovulating on day 14 of my cycle and 'targeted our efforts' around that time to no avail. Used an ovulation test and got pregnant straight away, turns out I was ovulating on day 11.

MummyJetsetter Mon 09-Sep-13 22:40:51

Dc1 age 26 1 cycle

Good luck to all you preggos and ttcers! You're all making me extremely broody as always

Sammi1986 Mon 09-Sep-13 23:41:09

My docs though it would take 2 years for me, overweight, alternating cysts on ovaries, one dodgy testicle on DP.... 2 weeks later after only DTD 3 times... BFP with my Bean!
Good luck and I hope you have a sproglet soon ;) xx

Cavort Tue 10-Sep-13 04:14:03

Sibble Tue 10-Sep-13 05:41:31

ds1 first attempts, ds2 3+ years with 1 mc inbetween.

foodgfood Tue 10-Sep-13 06:02:20

DD1: 8 months
DD2: bang on 8 months again!
Third pregnancy: 8 months, but miscarried at 9 weeks
DS1: 3 months after mc.

For me, I think it takes 8 months for the pill to clear from my body. I know 8 months isn't that long, but at the time it felt like forever!

Good luck Fifi, keeping fingers crossed for you!

ceara Tue 10-Sep-13 06:24:31

For those saying they're losing hope after 6 months, be positive, it takes 40% of women longer than that but most people will be pregnant within a year or so. Sadly it is a longer and tougher path for some of us. I started at 35, all tests good, 30 cycles naturally and then 6 months and two IVF cycles later (one fresh, one frozen embryo) I am 20 weeks pregnant with the frostie.

kitteninmittens Tue 10-Sep-13 07:19:40

So sorry for all the ladies who suffered a loss.

We thought we would never conceive as I have an autoimmune condition, we got pregnant on the second month, just after we got back from our honeymoon.
I can highly recommend taking a trip away as it does make you a lot more relaxed about trying smile

microserf Tue 10-Sep-13 07:24:23

1 cycle (loss)
1 cycle 35

Second baby arrived after I started Ttc not realising the " period" I had had was not a real one and I was in fact already pregnant. Oops.

CourgetteSmuggler Tue 10-Sep-13 08:46:48

pyrrah Tue 10-Sep-13 10:14:20

DD - 1st cycle - age 36

We're one and done so no other stats.

We started trying 1st cycle after we got married. Before that I charted for 6 months so I had a very clear idea of when we needed to DTD. I ate pineapple by the ton, used Pre-Seed and went for a 10 day marathon of DTD.

I have always had clockwork cycles and the women in my family in my extended family seem to get pregnant just by thinking about it so I reckoned my chances of conceiving quickly were pretty high.

I felt awful for my cousin's poor wife who took 3 years to get pregnant via IVF when so many of the rest of us were having multiple babies in the time. Must have been heart-breaking for her.

agendabender Tue 10-Sep-13 10:15:15

DS: accidental, just come off pill and using a condom, age 24
DC2 (23 weeks) first cycle, age 28.

I come from a professional, middle class family full of unplanned members! It's a running joke.

AWhistlingWoman Tue 10-Sep-13 11:08:09

Pg1 - 1st cycle (28) - DDs 1 & 2
Pg2 - 1st cycle (29) - mc
Pg3 - 12th cycle (31) - DS1
Pg4 - 2nd cycle (33) - currently 32 weeks pg with DD3

Obviously have difficulty conceiving boys, had fertility testing whilst trying to have the baby that turned out to be DS1. But didn't seem to have any troubles with DD3 confused

MummyPig24 Tue 10-Sep-13 12:32:52

Dc1, I was 19 and not planned but I think I conceived on the first cycle after my pill failed.

Dc2 I was 21, conceived on second cycle.

Dc3 25, second cycle again.

We have been incredibly lucky.
