Chocomama1 Fri 12-Jul-13 18:52:19

I'm due on the 17th...2nd baby and so excited. Currently in slow labour so contractions in the evening completely irregular and turning into a disappointing nothing!!!
How are you getting along??

Isitme1 Fri 12-Jul-13 21:04:33

Just about the same!
Wish waters went or at least a plug lol.
Due on 20th

Reebok Fri 12-Jul-13 21:08:26

Due 22nd. GET OUT OF ME NOW! Rant over.

Chocomama1 Fri 12-Jul-13 21:17:16

Someone told me to tweak my nipples lol apparently this works

Reebok Fri 12-Jul-13 22:02:20

Lol ok I would try but my boobs hurt anyway!

blueberrycupcake Fri 12-Jul-13 22:08:16

I was due yesterday. This is my second baby. I'm roasting hot and pretty uncomfortable. I've had one sweep already which did nothing. I'm just hoping the baby will come soon!

Octomufsa Fri 12-Jul-13 22:27:35

Due on the 23rd... If one more person tells me I 'have a while to go yet' (MIL) I might scream smile

Greenrabbit Fri 12-Jul-13 22:36:56

Due on the 18th, no signs yet. I'm booked in for an elc that day if I don't go into labour by then. DC1 was induced at 42 weeks so I'm pretty sure I'll be having the section.
Good luck to everyone. smile

gertrudestein Fri 12-Jul-13 22:40:41

Due on 6th July sad
Bored of waiting, really want to avoid an induction
Bought some evening primrose oil today and have been mainlining raspberry leaf tea ....

Accidentallyquirky Fri 12-Jul-13 22:45:15

Hi, I'm also due 17th with my second and in slow labour.
I could have wrote your op myself lol

GivemeaCamembert Fri 12-Jul-13 22:47:10

Due on the 18th too, having lots of random twinges and pains but they never develop, so frustrating. Can't be doing with the heat and i've forgotten what my ankles look like!

TomDaleysTrunks Sat 13-Jul-13 05:18:52

Due on 27th. Had irregular contractions all yesterday afternoon / evening with lower back pain. Stopped at 11 last night but now can't sleep. So frustrated.

ReikiMummy Sat 13-Jul-13 10:31:12

Due date yesterday...
doused oneself in the aromatherapy oils from midwife yesterday...
Lower backache most of the day yesterday...
Seems to have gone again this morning though. smile

I think LO is just too comfy!

Isitme1 Sat 13-Jul-13 10:33:49

Had a lot of pain last night. Was in tears and couldn't move at all but then they just stopped hmm
Guessing its slow labour again.

Chocomama1 Sat 13-Jul-13 11:07:20

Wow everyone...alot of us. If you give birth let us all know!!

This heat today is too much. I feel like a hot hippo already....slow labour is the worst!!!!

TomDaleysTrunks Sat 13-Jul-13 11:19:43

Isitme have you tried bouncing on a ball or a long walk? Hope things get going for you.
Few more twinges but nothing to get excited about!

cogitosum Sat 13-Jul-13 11:33:54

Due yesterday. Had a few twinges and a bit of a (ahem) clear out over the last few days (started a thread about it) but nothing else.

Actually feeling pretty good just really excited about meeting him! I've been walking a couple of miles a day and bouncing manically on the ball!

Isitme1 Sat 13-Jul-13 11:37:36

Tom I did go for a walk yesterday and I dont think dh will want me out in this heat today
Cogo ive had a bit of a clear out too so hoping something will start soon!

come on babies we want to meet you! !

TomDaleysTrunks Sat 13-Jul-13 11:45:38

No in sat in the shade but have cleaned the spare room today. Seemed to help increase the twinges!

Chocomama1 Sat 13-Jul-13 11:49:14

Yes take it easy today ladies.... stay cool

Reebok Sat 13-Jul-13 12:22:12

Had same problem again isitme...it seems contractions like to start overnight so I don't sleep but fine in day. Been like this for two weeks. I just want this LO out! sad heat is killing me today and my crazy DH suggested we go for a walk to encourage baby out. I responded with a 'are you nutty?' look.

Isitme1 Sat 13-Jul-13 12:29:12

Im still very crampy but this is manageable. If I would of had another 10 mins of pain last night I would of gone to hospital.

Chocomama1 Sat 13-Jul-13 12:58:41

Yes my contractions are in the evening aswell...i wonder why this is??

gertrudestein Sat 13-Jul-13 13:39:55

I've also got that - not sure if it's wishful thinking? Or just stronger than usual BH? It's getting me down because I can't sleep at night because of the pain, then during the day nothing happens!

Jollyb Sat 13-Jul-13 13:45:32

Hi I'm due on the 27th but booked to have a section next Friday.

Had some cramps last night and went into a panic as have been in complete denial about the fact that I could go into labour before my section date.

Finding today really tough - don't want to be near anyone. Feel like a mother cat who just wants to be left alone in a cupboard until she gives birth. It's taking all my effort to stop snapping at DP and DD.

Six days to go . . . . ,

Isitme1 Sat 13-Jul-13 14:11:07

Its the bloody heat!
I've got ceiling fan on here and I can only just feel it!
Just bought some groceries and got a few pots to wash.

Chocomama1 Sat 13-Jul-13 14:59:05

Me too...feel very snappy today
Heat really making things awful

thehomesecretary Sat 13-Jul-13 15:05:52

Due on the 31st but I had already had DS by this stage last time so am on high alert. Have had irregular contractions for the last 24 hours but not developing into anything exciting. Very fed up, especially of people telling me 'you've got a while to go yet'!

Chocomama1 Sat 13-Jul-13 15:08:54

Oh I'm getting the daily texts asking whats happening....if something was happening i'd text you ffs

Reebok Sat 13-Jul-13 16:46:00

Sorry for tmi but is anyone feeling the need to go to the loo constantly? I dont mean to pee! lol Think baby is pushing down very low. I've been twice already with a constant need to go several more times since last night. Wondering if its the start of something but fed up of getting my hopes up.

Chocomama1 Sat 13-Jul-13 16:54:19

Yes i go 3 or 4 times a day at the moment....been happening for last week or so

marushka82 Sat 13-Jul-13 17:12:39

Hi ladies, I thought I'd join you, due date 24 July and I don't feel any twinges or anything, boo. LO is pushing around thinking she can somehow expand my bump, heheh.
Just came back from a walk to the shops with DH, I thought I'd pass out from the heat... If I wasn't so close to my due date I'd go to the seaside but I don't wanna risk my waters breaking on the train or something :D
This is my first DC so I go from: 'Oh come on already, we want to meet you!' to 'omg omg I will not be able to cope with labour' . I'll be keeping my eyes on this thread!!! Stay cool in the heat girls!

BelissimaLol Sat 13-Jul-13 18:17:00

Hi can I join you ladies?
Due on 30th with my first and going from excited to terrified pretty much everyday!
Already had a couple of texts "checking how I'm doing" and my mum on the phone asking if I'd had baby- to which I replied- I have actually and forgot to mention it. Didn't think you'd want to know- so you can see I'm a bit grumpy!
One more week at work then just more waiting!

TwoOfThree Sat 13-Jul-13 18:33:31

Oh me too! I was due on Wednesday. Feeling enormous. Lots of braxton hicks but not much more. Fortunately the house stays pretty cool so I'm just stuck on the couch. Was hoping that bump might show up today as its DH's birthday. He's being very patient and having a quiet day. Come on bump!

Reebok Sat 13-Jul-13 19:43:58

I want to cry! This heat is too much! I've had 3 showers already and it's not helping! I hate the people outside who look as though they're enjoying the weather. It's not fair! Weather is meant to be like this all week and all! Arghhh

TwoOfThree Sat 13-Jul-13 23:44:17

40+3 and just found my first stretch marks <sob> come on baby, lets go!

Isitme1 Sun 14-Jul-13 09:13:28

Your 1st stretch mark? I lost count blush

I was sat outside in the shade enjoying a nice breeze yesterday maybe you could do the same reebok?

Had a few pains last night and this morning.

Just want my watera to go so Ive got an excuse tp go and find out if all that pain did anything to cervix lol

Hai1988 Sun 14-Jul-13 10:16:07

40+2 here, have also been having contractions in the evening for the past few nights that have amounted to nothing sad

lovemybabyboy Sun 14-Jul-13 11:07:59

I'm due on the 19th, feeling so hot and uncomfortable. This is DS3, DS1 came on due date, DS2 came at 38+5 so was convinced this one would come even earlier, thought I would go further than 38wks! Currently at 39+2 and feel like he is never going to arrive!! sad

lovemybabyboy Sun 14-Jul-13 11:13:00

*thought I wouldn't fog further than 38wks.

lovemybabyboy Sun 14-Jul-13 11:14:03

Oh for goodness sake....go not fog!!!! blush

ZingWidge Sun 14-Jul-13 11:43:05

just wishing you all good luck.

my DS2 was 10 yesterday ( 2 weeks late!) and DS1 will be 12 on the 27th - really hot weather both times...so sympathies to all your poor swelling ankles and sausage fingers!wink

all the best, and may your labours & births be quick and pain less!thanks

Isitme1 Sun 14-Jul-13 12:48:56

Aww thats nice of you to say zing x

Dont worry its the weather wink
Im due 1 day after you and with ds1 waters broke 10days before due date (5days before having him)
Either way these babies can't stay up there forever!
I waw convinced I lost some of my plug last night as it was sticky snotty like dark creamy sort of thing sorry tmi.
With ds I didnt notice the plug but show came after waters

Viennafletchercat Sun 14-Jul-13 12:53:03

Due 10th....hot and bothered and suffering with PUPPP rash. Had two sweeps and nothing, is my first. Felt quite teery last night, rash is so itchy and feels like burning skin...back to midwife on Wednesday!

ZingWidge Sun 14-Jul-13 13:16:02

one advice I have - shag.

especially after a sweep.

sperm contains something that helps softening the cervix thus acting as a natural labour inducing substance.

my first 2 were induced for different reasons, my 4th was ELSC, but Sweep & Shag worked like a charm with the other 3!grin

you can have as many sweeps as needed btw.

ZingWidge Sun 14-Jul-13 13:18:42

yep, that was defo the cervical plug - part of it at least.

unless your waters broke it is safe to have sex, no risk of infection.

Reebok Sun 14-Jul-13 15:21:18

Been having contractions yet again...little more painful but doubt anything will come of it. Fed up!

nervy555 Sun 14-Jul-13 15:37:18

Due on 12th. Woke this morning sure that today was the day but nothing. Why are so many over due? Does anyone know how common induction is with a first. I've also just developed swollen ankles :-( 1st time...I lost count too!

Isitme1 Sun 14-Jul-13 15:39:17

It was sex that probably helped yesterday lol blush

I think the best way to look at it is babies come when they want to. It doesnt help though.
I've tried long walks
Ive been really emotional
Nipple tweaking/tried the hand breast pump
Ive got fed up of trying. The hospital said they won't let me go over 40 weeks (I will be that on Saturday) and I see consultant tomorrow so will probably ask for sweep and if nothing happens by Saturday go in for induction due to kidney problems.

Its a bit more breezey here today
Hope it's like this for everyone else!

Reebok Sun 14-Jul-13 16:34:07

Isitme, you're brave! So far I've only tried spice, raspberry leaf tea, walking lots and squatting. But now my swollen feet are not allowing me to walk too much. I look like Big Foot! I think this baby will be late. 39 weeks tomorrow sad

Isitme1 Sun 14-Jul-13 17:04:38

I dare not try the raspberry leaf as I had problems with my uterus after birth with ds (it came out resulting in emergency surgery)

Try a hot bath

TomDaleysTrunks Sun 14-Jul-13 21:53:59

Another one who is trying sex tonight. grin

Isitme1 Mon 15-Jul-13 02:45:57

Good luck lol
Got an appointment with consultant. Will see what theysay

TomDaleysTrunks Mon 15-Jul-13 05:03:35

DTD! Possibly caused a bloody show. Had period pains on and off all night but nothing exciting.

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 08:26:18

good for you! was is the beached whale position? grin (that's all I could manage)

the period pains sound very suspicious to me and so very promising!

fx for you!

and if I may say DTD tonight again. it might kick off labour properly...ah I'm so excited, do update, I'm predicting a baby by Wednesday night!

TomDaleysTrunks Mon 15-Jul-13 09:00:58

Doggy! Seemed easier! Hahaha. Nothing moving this morning. DH working a long day so doubt will get a chance again today. Will have to save that treat for tomorrow.shock
How are you feeling?

Isitme1 Mon 15-Jul-13 09:55:23

Period pain does sound good (had it a few days)
So wil let you know if they examine me to see if its had the desired effect.

It's fasting so dtd is harder than usual lol dh works long hours and we literally have a 3 hour window in which we sleep or dtd and as dh went to work early (2am) rather than 8 (to come with me to appointment) he will be shattered by time fast opens.

Reebok Mon 15-Jul-13 10:14:42

Good luck tomdaley and isit me. Hopefully your LOs will be with you soon.

I have the same problem isitme but to be honest, I'm completely put off the idea off the idea of DTD. DH did suggest it and I've said no! Lol

39 weeks today... Had contractions all day and evening but its come to nothing again sad

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 10:20:30

oh I'm not pg now, I meant all I could manage back then!wink

I'm only here to support and cheer you on!

Isitme1 Mon 15-Jul-13 10:23:04

Lol im not wink

I keep getting horrible sharp stabbing pains at the bottom of my bump.
Hospital said they will induce me at term (Saturday)
Going to try and get a sweep today and probably ask to be induced by Wednesday-Friday

PhieEl06 Mon 15-Jul-13 11:03:32

Ooo ooo can I join?! grin Due on the 20th, I think I've tried everything possible to get this baby out, nothing has worked so far, I'm miserable in this heat, & I am pooping my pants over the thought of induction!

Hai1988 Mon 15-Jul-13 12:30:14

Grr 40+3 now and getting more fed up by the hour sad

tried everything but she's not budging!

Got Sweep tomorrow if she's not budged by then, not looking forward to that! Anyone had a sweep before? What's it like?

Isitme1 Mon 15-Jul-13 12:57:22

Phie thats my due date too!!
Hai ive been told its like a harsher internal.
Make sure you've got a hand to squeeze!

Crapping myself about watera breaking on public transport! ! Not got a lift and a taxi there and back would cost over 60!

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 13:49:38

hai it's like you are being pinched.it is between painful and uncomfortable.
you might have a tiny bleed afterwards.

if the cervix is too far/back it can't be reached, so the sweep ( stretch of the membranes) can't be done.

if it is done I strongly recommend you have sex afterwards asap - it's like a double whammy and is very likely to bring labour on!
(however, once the waters broke do not have sex - due to risk of infection)

a successful sweep on its own is very effective, 50% of people will go into labour within 48 hrs.
the more overdue you are the more likely it will work

I had sweeps with 3 of mine:
DS3 - born within 48 from sweep (5 days late
DS5 - born within 12 hours from sweep (9 days late)
DD (6th child) - waters broke 30 hours after sweep, then she was born just over 12 hours later ( 6 days late)

MrsSpagBol Mon 15-Jul-13 13:56:35

Due 20th, nothing to show for it but severely swollen feet and period pain like cramps. This will be DC1 so I am unfortunately expecting the long haul wait.

cogitosum Mon 15-Jul-13 13:59:58

So has everyone been having contractions? I've had very mild cramps but tbh I don't even think I'd notice if I wasn't looking out for them. Does this probably mean I've still got a while to go? Do you always get contractions for a bit first?

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 14:31:57

mrsSpagbol abd Cogito

period pain like campings are early signs of labour.
they way I can describe it's like a dull, lingering ache, also similar to when you have churning stomach after a curry or when you have the runs (sorry).

if you put your hand at the lower part of your belly, just above the pelvic bone that's where the pain is located.
( you might also have accompanying back ache, urge to pee or poo)

Braxton Hicks are quite different, your whole uterus goes rock hard.

try to occupy yourselves instead getting too excited just yet... (I'll get excited for you! wink wink wink ) but yes, something is going on!

oh and try and eat some good food and get as much rest as you can - soon you'll need a lot of energy!

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 14:32:47

campings? grin

cogitosum Mon 15-Jul-13 17:23:15

Well I've had the very mild cramps for nearly 2 weeks so not holding much hope there... Feeling a little achy and uncomfortable in lower back today and (tmi alertt) have had diarrhea every day for nearly a week now.

Hopefully midwife tomorrow may be able to check if I'm dilated...

TwoOfThree Mon 15-Jul-13 17:27:43

40+5 now, huge hot and fed up with no signs of bump going anywhere yet. Just more braxton hicks :0(

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 17:36:04

the fun parts of being pg!wink

poor you!thanks

I'd be very surprised if you weren't a tiny bit dilated.
will you let us know?

(you know how they say implantation pains can last for a few days? try 3.5 weeks! or whatever it was with DS3..)

I really think that sex would speed things up - it's worth a try.

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 17:39:45

<hands a glass of cold lemonade to twoofthree>

the last few days are really difficult. one of the reason we are happy to give birth despite the pain!wink

eat lots of ice cream?smile

TomDaleysTrunks Mon 15-Jul-13 17:48:12

Nothing shifting here despite the shag last night! Boohoo!! So hot and bothered today!

Isitme1 Mon 15-Jul-13 18:42:20

Lots of ice cream sounds good!!

I got my way!
Had a sweep today. They said its not fair if my iron levels are still that low and being heavily pregnant so midwife managed to go round at least 3 times.
She could feel his head!!!!
If this doesnt work then im getting induced on Saturday. Been booked for 12!

I hope you are dilating all that happened to me was the cervix was becoming thinner not dilating.

Zing has given us all some good advice so listen up ladies!

cogitosum Mon 15-Jul-13 18:44:18

We've been shagging a lot trying to get things started!

I'll update tomorrow following the appointment... Fingers crossed!

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 18:57:53

fx for both of you!

well, all of you, of course!wink

TomDaleysTrunks Mon 15-Jul-13 19:00:49

Hooray isitme! Keep us posted!

Thanks zing for all the lovely advicesmile.

Reebok Mon 15-Jul-13 19:08:52

Thanks zing for the advice....ooh exciting isitme! Let us know what happens!

Tomdaley, keep at it! It may help.

Have had another day of contractions and wanting to go loo...this is seriously doing my head in! Contractions were 10 mins apart for three hours and now nothing. This baby doesn't want to come out! Due next Monday but scared I might have to be induced sad

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 19:36:51

reebok you have plenty of time!

the key is trying to keep calm and/ or distracted.

stress hormones are counter productive to whatever it is that starts off contractions.
which is why women who rush to hospital, having had irregular contractions or ones that are far apart, will find the contractions stopping completely!

I know it is hot and you are all antsy and fed up and uncomfortable and impatient, but do try cleaning the windows or alphabetizing your CDs, DVDs and books or going for walks or a swim.
do anything that will relax you!

oh and if you have small contractions help your body "Friends" - style by imagining that your "cervix is opening up like a beautiful flower"!grin
if nothing else laughing at that (and Ross' face if you remember!) will reduce stress for sure!grin

(I know it sounds woo and zen or whatever, but I swear it actually helped me!)

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 19:37:52

oh and happy to help - ask anything, anytime!

ZuluWarrior Mon 15-Jul-13 19:49:58

I would like to join in with the grumpy hot ladies.
38+3 with #3 but I feel "entitled" to be in labour now as my other 2 were early grin.
Should've assumed I'd be late and I wouldn't be so impatient!
Have been having sore BH for a week and a half. Bit of a show a week ago.

I'd forgotten how annoying this stage is!

Sending strength to all x

Isitme1 Mon 15-Jul-13 19:56:02

Zing is right again. I think thats why I dont dilate properly as I stress a lot.

Zulu all are welcome smile

Ive had my show now too smile
Got back ache and want to clean.
Off to do bins

TomDaleysTrunks Mon 15-Jul-13 20:13:54

Oh isitme very excited for you! Sounds very promising!

TomDaleysTrunks Mon 15-Jul-13 20:14:59

Pressed send too soon.

zulu welcome! Am 38+2 but had DD at 36 weeks so pretty fed up now. It's hard going isn't it?!

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 20:18:55

isitme1 that's great! yay!

you can all direct your stresses to me ( well, in small doses!) as I'm great at being stressed - my kids are flooding the bathroom as we speak....

Reebok Mon 15-Jul-13 20:32:22

Thanks zing...that friends comment did make me actually laugh out loud. Will try to use it!

Isitme, how exciting!! Hopefully LO will be along shortly!

Isitme1 Mon 15-Jul-13 20:43:03

Ive learnt to deal with stress after ds1. He has extra needs and they have been challenging lately.
Hes mainly tube fed (straight into stomach rather than nasal) he isn't a naughty boy but can be demanding when hes hot and bothered (like other kids)
I know when im labour I will be worrying about him.
I know I will have a few days in hospital as my bloods arent too good so will probably need a transfusion or 2.
Ds will really play up without me at home.
Hopefully I will be home that day and bloods come back ok.
Got very nice contraction as im writing this.
Keep me occupied lol

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 20:48:35

I'm here!

can I ask if you know if it is a boy or a girl?

any name ideas?

LittleMilla Mon 15-Jul-13 21:07:19

Marking my place on here, 39 weeks.

DS2 and I've got my hand's full with a lovely DS who is 2.3 y/old.

1st sweep tomorrow. DS was breech but no one knew and I went 10 days over so they're keen to try and chivvy me along.

Been getting twinges and pains for a week and half now. Fed up.

Considering a sweaty bonk tonight to see if we can preempt the midwife grin!

marushka82 Mon 15-Jul-13 21:32:39

so all of you are having some sort of contractions? Boo, I don't have anything. Baby's moving a lot, I wake up 5 times a night with heartburn, sore hips or to go to the loo and I'm getting super cranky in the heat. And bored....so bored....
I'll be 39 weeks on Wednesday... tried to convince DH to DTD but he's too hot hmm

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 21:43:57

tell him to man up!
he got that baby in there, he can bloody well help to get him/her out of there! grin

he is too hot..pffftwink

marushka82 Mon 15-Jul-13 21:49:38

haha, Zing, you're right! I'll try tonight, heheh.
I have a box of raspberry leaf tea in the kitchen but the thought of drinking anything warm is just unbearable...
Do you ladies go out of the house much in this heat?

Reebok Mon 15-Jul-13 21:58:59

I second what zing said marushka. If I wasn't so turned off, I'd be asking DH to dtd tonight..but this heat and the fact I feel like the size of a house doesn't help.

Zing, had some more contractions and I did why you said...imagine the flower lol made me laugh in between the pain and breathing so thank you! ;)

Reebok Mon 15-Jul-13 21:59:27

What not why...stupid auto correct.

Isitme1 Mon 15-Jul-13 22:32:15

Reebok its a boy.
I like the name shaan but dh wont discuss names until baby is here n then he will leave it too me lol.

Dtd? Dh probably thinks he will hurt us. Plus my lady parts still hurt lol.

They are irregular so will see what comes of it.

Reebok Mon 15-Jul-13 22:36:12

Aw I'm having a girl. That's a nice name! I have the same problem with names so we have decided we will decide once we are her.

Oh my lady bits feel sore whenever I sit on the loo...like there's so much pressure on it and baby could fall out lol...anyone else feel like that?

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 22:43:54

Reebok goodie about more contractions!

breathing through early contractions properly is really helpful in reducing the pain and feeling you are in control.
as the contraction is starting take a deep breath then breathe out slowly.
imagine you are trying to blow out lots of birthday candles in one go - that's the way to do it. repeat until pain eases up.

(as they get stronger there are of course pain relief options)

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 22:51:00

pressure is good - it helps with the thinning and dilating of the cervix

I know I'm ovulating, but bloody hell it feels like I have sympathy contraction pains!grin

ah, I love giving birth! <feeling weirdly jealous>

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 22:57:31

jot down times of contractions and length of them - that gives you something to concentrate on, and you can see your progress.

(I did that, it was interesting reading it again later)

gertrudestein Tue 16-Jul-13 06:31:23

Hello ladies, have been lurking on this thread. 41+3 and my waters broke early this morning. Am now in the bath while Dh sleeps - feeling a little lonely but water helps with the pain. Mw said i should prepare myself for 24 hrs or this!!!! Then they will induce me. They seem to yh

gertrudestein Tue 16-Jul-13 06:32:33

They seem to think this baby won't come on his own so I'm preparing myself for the long haul. Any support: advice gratefully received! This is my first ....

ZuluWarrior Tue 16-Jul-13 07:22:32

Marushka try iced raspberry leaf tea! I did this with my last summer baby too. Brew up a big jug in the morning and stick it in the fridge. It's actually not too disgusting!

Isitme1 Tue 16-Jul-13 08:02:32

Ooo its something that your waters have gone.
I wouls probably walk around the house and up and down stairs.

Reebok that pressure for me is at its worst when ive just got out of bed.

Zing I had 2 really painful back and tummy contractions then in between I fell asleep lol. I haven't slept properly for the last few nights and convinced myself I needed the rest.
I can feel the pain again.

Have been losing mucus with pinky red blood streaked in it
Hope something kicks off.

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 08:52:32

gertude yay! I'm here to chat.

isitme1 yay! show is good, pain is goood!

I'll be checking for updates!

Chocomama1 Tue 16-Jul-13 13:45:41

Omg just lost my mucus plug...sorry but so excited. Does this mean Ill go into labour now????

cogitosum Tue 16-Jul-13 14:35:19

Well midwife appointment not great. She did sweep but cervix still closed so very unlikely anything will happen in next 48 hours.

I started bleeding straight away which surprised me. She warned me about bleeding but didn't realise it'd be so quick.

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 14:39:42

yay for you choco!

not immediately, no.
it could be hours or days, but it is a step in the right direction!

I do advise DTD asap, it will speed things up.

and I suggest you try and keep your mind busy, let your body do its thing.
it will happen.

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 14:44:49

cogito don't be disappointed. thanks

the sweep means they are streching the membranes and that little disturbance can cause hormonal changes thus starting off or accelerating the process of the cervix dilating.

I'm likeva broken record, but all I can say I DTD!wink

and yes, bleeding straightaway is normal.
if you feel you are sore take some paracetamol or a hot(ish) bath.

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 14:45:36

*all I can say IS DTD

gertrudestein Tue 16-Jul-13 14:52:10

This is quite painful isn't it? And it lasts for ages - contractions every 5 mins for 14 hrs. An exhausted and too tired for all that active labour I've been practicing ... Tens machine does nothing for me either ....

ReikiMummy Tue 16-Jul-13 14:59:08

cor blimey girls.... backaches, lower period type pains... more pressure down below and I really can't need to go the loo again can I?

no sign of anything else yet....

may have to resort to pouncing on OH when he returns from shopping...!!

cogitosum Tue 16-Jul-13 15:07:52

It's not sore actually I can't really feel anything different.

I may try dtd tonight it's just so hot!

cogitosum Tue 16-Jul-13 15:17:00

Just to check I've just lost a lump. It's smallish but quite solid like a period clot. Is that normal?

Isitme1 Tue 16-Jul-13 15:40:44

Cogo I would ring triage and ask.
Mighy just be part of your plug.
Ive been bleeding in mucus since I had my sweep too but also had the show and want things to work.
Will try and dtd tonight!!

TwoOfThree Tue 16-Jul-13 16:07:51

<gratefully accepts lemonade>

Hello all, just checking back in. Thought I'd started this morning. I woke up a couple of times and thought I'd wet myself a tiny bit (it's such a special time isn't it?) then was having lots of period pains and had a bit of a show. Then nothing! Have an upset stomach and I need the loo roughly every three and a half minutes. But other than that its all stopped! Boo!

Back to the waiting game! How are we all doing?

Jollyb Tue 16-Jul-13 16:26:58

All this plug action - I'm getting excited.

Had a very, very lazy day. Dropped DD to childminder then came back, had a bath and lay down. For 4 hours!!

3 days til my section argggh

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 16:37:54

2of3 loose stools can also be a good sign.

in fact all the malarkey about pineapples, prunes and curries are connected with stimulating the bowels - that is what some people believe can also trigger labour.
who knows....

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 16:38:48

the lump could be the plug, but best to check with midwives.

LittleMilla Tue 16-Jul-13 16:43:35

Just got back from sweep. Everything looking good, she got her finger straight in (sorry if tmi) and had a very good sweep.

ds is now fully engaged, they could only feel his shoulders and she touched his head straight away.

Cervix is all thinned out and they said I could've lost my plug already given how thin it all is.

Excited!! Just hoping dull backache develops in to something more. Had primed DH to dtd but when I came home and said she felt head immediately I said I'd chickened out. Just come back from pedicure and the silly sod got on with things himself (ahem blush)! So looks like I might need to let the sweep do its own thing without additional intervention!

Fingers crossed! Hope everyone else's twinges etc are leading to more. We need some babies...!

Reebok Tue 16-Jul-13 17:02:29

Zing I've been wanting to poop constantly (sorry tmi) for the past 2 weeks and for the past 4 days, I've been going at least 3 times a day.

Ooh lots of plugs being lost! How exciting!

cogitosum Tue 16-Jul-13 17:09:38

Aargh! Just looked through notes and noticed that it says 3/5 palp whereas the last 2 appointments (so 4 weeks) he's been fully engaged. I wish I'd noticed at the time and asked about it as it was the student midwife who felt my stomach not my usual one and she didn't seem to check very much.

I thought it was quite rare for them to go from fully engaged to not???

Isitme1 Tue 16-Jul-13 17:16:02

Cant move from the loo right now. Sorry tmi. Needed company lol.
Feel very period like and getting tightness.
Dont want to get too excited to be let down though.

Reebok that wanting to poo sensation is horrible.
I feel yuk atm.
I feel very tired but thats why they want to induce. Tiredness is 1 of the things of low iron. Midwife said its as low as when a woman has had their baby and ive still not had him!

How is everyone coping with all this excitedness

Reebok Tue 16-Jul-13 17:22:55

Ouch isitme! That's low. My iron was 10.2 so I've been put on iron tablets to push it up.

The pains sound promising! Will keep my fingers crossed for you! Oh crap back to the loo!

Isitme1 Tue 16-Jul-13 17:31:32

My iron was 8.9. Then 9.2 and highest lately was 9.5.
At book in it was fine.

cogitosum Tue 16-Jul-13 17:34:09

Do they check iron as standard as mine has never been checked as far as I know?

Reebok Tue 16-Jul-13 17:37:49

They checked mine whenever I had blood tests as I have a history of low iron. If you are feeling quite weak, I would ask them to check.

Isitme1 Tue 16-Jul-13 17:45:09

Cogo I think in 'normal healthy' pregnancies they check 3/4 times and if theres no concern they wont mention it.

Feel fucked.
Soo much for dtd tonight.

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 18:06:39

Floradix with iron or Solgar's gentle iron tablets are really good.

the ones prescribed by the gp was very high dose and made me very ill.

I'm loving the pooping action - you can't say you don't give a shitgrin

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 18:08:46

jollyb not long now, thanks have you had a C-section before?

<makes cooling drinks, rubs poorly feet of all who need>

Reebok Tue 16-Jul-13 18:12:08

Lol zing!

Yeh my iron tablets give me an awful taste which makes me nauseous as my mouth tastes like metal. My feet are enormous and swollen thanks to the heat!

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 19:25:50

Reebok - stick your feet in a bowl of cold water. with ice cubes. bliss!wink

Reebok Tue 16-Jul-13 20:30:40

Feeling so nauseous right now. Don't know if its from the iron or heat. Feel awful and want to just collapse.
Yes been doing that all day with cold water. Feels nice when my feet are in it but the swelling hasn't gone down.

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 20:40:43

Ireebok what is your dosage of iron?
it can make you feel sick.

I took the recommened amount and felt unwell by the evening.
took my 3rd tablet the next morning and felt dizzy, sick, shaky and just ill.

it could of course just be the heat or another symptom for early labour, but if you think it's the iron tablet consult with a professional, please!

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 20:42:59

oh and don't worry about TMI, ever.

to put it this way, after having all my kids I have no dignity left - so I'm immune to TMIgrin

cogitosum Tue 16-Jul-13 20:45:51

Does anyone know about a baby going from being fully engaged for 4 weeks to being just 3/5 palp now?

I understand it can happen (although it's rare) just surprised they didn't mention it in the appointment.

It was a newly qualified midwife who wrote it in my notes not my usual midwife who did the previous examinations (they were both in the appointment)

Isitme1 Tue 16-Jul-13 21:05:25

I think it might be a sign of early labour like zing said as that's what ive felt like but dont want to get too excited.
Got a bit more energy so dtd might be on the menu tonight

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 21:07:01

cogito I think it is more likely that baby wasn't fully engaged....

with DD a student MW declared me 3-4cm dilated, but 2 hrs later the senior MW said I was only 2cms!

if it was 5/5 engaged - really don't know.

if 3/5 or 4/5 I imagine would be possible, but probably unlikely.

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 21:09:43
cogitosum Tue 16-Jul-13 21:44:02

They definitely said fully engaged.
At 31 he was 4/5ths palp (so 1/5 engaged)
Then free at 34
Then 4/5 palp at 35
Then fully engaged at 37 fully engaged at 38 and now 3/5 palp (so only 2/5 engaged) at 40.

That's why I thought it may be a mistake. I didn't think it was normal to go from fully engaged in a first pregnancy.

Also the newly qualified midwife today didn't really seem to check in the way my normal midwife did previously.

Reebok Tue 16-Jul-13 21:59:46

I'm on 3 a day...I get this sort of metal taste in my mouth after taking it. Is that normal?

Probably just the heat making me nauseous. I suffered from hyperemesis for a long time and only came off the medication at 37 weeks so possible it's just being pregnant in the heat that is causing the nausea.

ZuluWarrior Wed 17-Jul-13 05:16:46

Is anyone else up with the birds these days? I quite like it - a couple of hours before the kids get up to drink tea and listen to the birds singing.. If I could be bothered to do any cleaning my house would be immaculate by now!

bailiffsareevil Wed 17-Jul-13 06:03:54

Hi Zulu i am up and cramping!

BraveLilBear Wed 17-Jul-13 08:19:04

Hello all my fellow impatient crampers! Can I come and sit in the waiting room with you please?

Due on 22nd, been cramping on and off for over 2 weeks and keep having spells of contractions that start for a few hours then wander off somewhere else.

Dumb question from a first timer... does whole bump go hard during contractions or just part of it?

I get frequent pains low down that feel like a sort of cold pinch (not like stabby cervix) accompanied by low back ache and sometimes period type pains, but bump isn't always hard all over?

Other times I get solid bump followed by prolonged period pains. Are these both BH? [clueless emoticon]

Sending cooling thoughts!

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 08:28:09

when your whole tummy goes rock hard (can take your breath away) but it isn't particularly painful - they are Braxton Hicks aka practice contractions.

when you have period type pains - that's the cervix cramping and dilating.

when you are in labour the peeiod pains will get stronger - I don't remember anything else!- but when you are ready to push the whole uterus will contract to push baby out.

( as you are in labour and waiting to be fully dilated I think the uterus is also contracting, but I honestly don't remember....)

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 08:29:02

peeiod?grin grin grin

period, of course

Isitme1 Wed 17-Jul-13 09:00:32

I dont think baby will come out without the inducement on Saturday.
Dtd last night and nothing but a bit of relief lol.

Yep your full bump goes rock hard.

I should leave all the questions to zing. Shes the expert grin

No pain
No crampiness
Just tired.

Hope everyone else' cervix is doing better than mine!

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 09:06:00

why thank you isitme1!grin

but I'm not an expert, just experienced. a bit.
( ok a bit more than average)

Isitme1 Wed 17-Jul-13 09:10:04

Quite happy this morning. Starting the day with my bestffriend's ben and jerry grin
My excuse is I have heartburn.

TomDaleysTrunks Wed 17-Jul-13 09:10:14

I've stopped raspberry leaf tea as making BH constant! No more action here really despite DTD again last night.
isit still 3 more days to go!! Sending positive spontaneous labour thoughts your way.

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 09:22:29

yes B&J should helpgrin
have you tried Brownie Blondie? my absolute favourite!

<rummages in freezeer>
I have ov cramps, that's my excuse!grin

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 09:25:59

raspberry leaf tea is an interesting thing.
it compensates for whatever state the uterus is in.
so if it's too lax it will firm it up, if it's too "tight" it will relax it.
at least that's what I've been told.

so you BH are probably just a sign that it is working for you.

<takes off know-it-all hatgrin >

Isitme1 Wed 17-Jul-13 10:03:07

Thank you tom.
Ive not tried raspberry leaf so cant comment on it.
Miss smarty pants has lol

Not tried that one yet. I was having phish food. Have you tried smart cookie (suits you lol) thats nice.
Actually have you anyof you tried the tubs of oreo ice cream? That's nice too lol

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 10:24:04

grin at miss smarty pants!

Isitme1 Wed 17-Jul-13 10:41:34

Oh god im hungry already! !

Anyone had back to back baby??
This1 is so wondering what will be different. Cant really compare to 1st as that was just a failure on the hospitals behalf.

Reebok Wed 17-Jul-13 10:57:23

Mmm ice cream sounds like a great idea! Sorry isitme, no idea!

I have my gigantic feet once again! sad

Spent the night in tears because of the heat and constant feeling of wanting to vomit. Feel a bit better so far this morning now that I've eaten. Hopefully the nausea won't return again today.

Isitme1 Wed 17-Jul-13 11:11:42

Hope you do feel better today.

Ive received a letter from the hospital to say 'I have an infection contact gp to get the appropriate treatment'
If its thrush can I use anything for it so close to induction/labour and with plug gone??

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 11:17:58

smarty pants back on - is it Strep B?

if it is baby is fine for now, but if your waters break you'll have to go to hospital so they can put you on an antibiotics drip.
depending on how long you are on it before baby's born, they might keep you in a bit to observe baby.

no need to worry though. just talk to a MW to explain it more.

(and yes, I have got it.)

Isitme1 Wed 17-Jul-13 11:35:24

I've had thrush in the past with this pregnancy and they normally write its thrush.
Ive got 'something waiting for me' at the pharmacy as prescription was done yesterday.
Which the gp should of rang to say x

Reebok Wed 17-Jul-13 12:13:50

Hopefully whatever it is will clear up soon isitme. Try not to worry.

Getting more discharge today! Yuck! Hate wearing panty liners in this weather. And having period type pains again on and off all morning in front and lower back. Decided to take a walk (yes I'm mad!) in this awful feet in the hope of pushing things along...I've just come back with feet even bigger than before! Off to soak them in a bowl!

LittleMilla Wed 17-Jul-13 12:22:22

'Woke up' this am feeling v depressed. Woke is in inverted commas as I had yet another terrible night's sleep and feel exhausted hmm. Had thought that things could kick off after sweep yest but nothing. Although feeling this shattered I'm not sure it'd be great if I did go in to labour.

Also feeling stressed about baby being back to back. Trying everything to turn him as I'm desperate for a normal birth this time. DS was breech and so I had a section without even feeling a contraction.

Sorry for indulgent rant, just feeling shitty today.

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 12:33:35

<hugs Milla>

<stares at baby - do what mummy says!wink >

Isitme1 Wed 17-Jul-13 15:27:40

Reebok I think your my long lost twin lol
What ever ive done today you've done and what evee you've felt ive felt lol. Ive also had more discharge and been on a very long walk shopping

Milla takes the piss when a child doesn't listen lol
Try going down on all 4s.

I have some news from babycentre. According to them giving your partner oral and swallowing is better for your cervix rather than bog standard sex! Mind you id still rather have sex than do that right now lol

Isitme1 Wed 17-Jul-13 15:40:05

Miss smarty pants should I still be bleeding?
Its like streaky red pinky blood in mucus.
Also some of the mucus is darker than cream like snot colour when its not that dark. If that makes sense and sorry for tmi.

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 15:53:58

seems reasonable!

never too much information!

until I'll tell you my prune related incident while in labour a bit of bloody mucus is amateur stuff!grin

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 16:00:17

I swear the BJ theory was invented by some males wanting the most out of a desperate situation - when we might fall for some fake science just to get the baby out!grin

I really want that turned into a comedy sketch where a husband explains the theory with a straight face to his overdue wife - while there's a running subtile "translating" what he is thinking exactly! grin grin

Reebok Wed 17-Jul-13 16:37:24

Lol isitme...must be!

Ladies anyone getting awful stabbing pains in their lady bits? I've had them before but today seem worse...almost like baby is trying to dig out. Makes me scream. Doesn't last long but hurts like hell and it's worse when I have the period cramps at the same time.

marushka82 Wed 17-Jul-13 16:44:37

hey ladies, so I'm 39 weeks as of today and still nothing. I think the baby is afraid of the heat. I checked weather forecast for next week yesterday and I was nearly in tears as it's going to be 35-36 degrees shock shock!!! I couldn't fall asleep for ages last night, mainly worrying how on earth the baby is going to cope with this heat... Then spent all morning desperately trawling through all websites known to man looking for fans, only to discover everything is out of stock! Finally found a fan on B&Q website and it should be delivered tomorrow! Feel like I won the lottery or something!
How are you planning to make the babies comfortable in this heat? Please tell me I'm not the only one worried about that! grin

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 16:53:41

Remember the awful heatwave in August 2003? DS2 was only a few weeks old.

I just kept him in a nappy, in the shade or inside.
when it was really hot I would wipe him down with a wet cloth several times a day or gave him short bath to cool down

a fan is great (but I can't stand the noise at night)

oh and he had a heat rash for weeks - nothing you can do about it.

I really feel for all of you, DS1 was also a July baby.

<hands out more ice cream, lemonade and fills paddling pools in the shade>

TwoOfThree Wed 17-Jul-13 17:06:16

No stabby pains here. Lost my plug this morning, or at least some of it- lovely. But other than that nothing. Bump keeps stretching and moving about but it's all going so slowly. Feeling hot and grumpy. Have a sweep booked in tomorrow but I just want to get started now! Shovelling down pineapple and sniffing my clary sage. Come on baby.

Hope you are all progressing faster than me and surviving in this heat!

Isitme1 Wed 17-Jul-13 17:07:37

<takes large amount of ice cream to cool down>

Reebok im not saying anything. yep

I love having the fan on!!
Im worried about the heat too. Will ask mw once baby is born about baby and clothing.
Ds 1 was born at start of winter so don't have a clue

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 17:13:54

I have my smarty pants now firmly stuck on, so I must warn you that too much pineapple can give some people diahorrea (sp)

try eating fresh pineapples with a little sprinkling of salt, it's delicious! suggestion of a Malaysian friend

Can I join? I'm 38 + 1, and a bit fed up! Been having on off contractions since Friday night and loads of period cramps. DD arrived at 38 weeks and my first, DS at 39 so really hoping that this one is going to follow suit and appear fairly soon!

Have tried imagining cervix as a flower, and keep reminding myself that all this should mean a quicker active labour but it isn't much fun in this heat is it?

TwoOfThree Wed 17-Jul-13 17:19:50

Thanks for the tip Zing! I'm limiting it to about 1-2 portions a day so not going too mad, but willing to try about anything at this point!

Reebok Wed 17-Jul-13 17:19:55

Hmm my long lost twin..so do you think it's a sign of labour or baby just smacking its head on my lady bits? Don't want to get excited yet.
Marushka I've been worrying about the heat too n how bubba will cope because I'm definitely not coping well as an adult!

Twoofthree, that sounds exciting about the plug. Hopefully things will progress!

Isitme1 Wed 17-Jul-13 17:32:05

Pineapple didn't work with me I do hope they work with you!

Long lost twin Im thinking of it as the cervix at the bottom is beginning to dilate and baby is doing the work from the top. It fucking hurts. A lot. Thats the pain I cant do with. Contractions are easier to cope with lol.

Reebok Wed 17-Jul-13 17:41:39

I was thinking that's what it could be but was unsure. It sure does kill!

Welcome waves! I know you from the HG support thread. How are you feeling now? I managed to come off my meds at 37 weeks. Feeling much better besides the slight nausea I've had for the past day or so.

Isitme1 Wed 17-Jul-13 18:50:18

Picked up prescription.
Its clotrimazole pessary.
You should of seen the pharmacists face when I asked if its safe to use even though im being induced on Saturday.
He was trying to find a polite way of saying as youve got to stick it so far up your faj you could burst yourwwaters.

Reebok have you tried smelling a nice soap?? I love the smell of talc powder I swear I could eat the stuff!

Reebok Wed 17-Jul-13 18:54:46

Ouch sounds painful!

Most smells are making me nauseous and the awful metal mouth taste I have makes me feel worse. I tell you...I cannot wait to stop being pregnant! I hate pregnancy.

Isitme1 Wed 17-Jul-13 19:30:30

I like being pregnant. Just not this pregnant lol.

Question for everyone
Are you going to breast or bottle feed?

ZuluWarrior Wed 17-Jul-13 19:57:47

I have just bawled my eyes out because I smacked 2 year old DD's face off the corner of the table by mistake and split her lip. Blood everywhere. Feel like the worst mummy ever. She was laughing and eating her tea before I'd even stopped crying.

I'd never have cried like that if I wasn't pregnant.

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 20:04:43

<hugs Zulu and cleans up blood>

Oh Zulu hope you and DD feel better soon. I'm also feeling like a rubbish mum on account of being able to do bugger all with my DCs. Pregnancy hormones don't help at all.

Hi reebok, I'm still on meds but vomiting certainly less bad these days (well, for the past week I'm down to about 3 times a day) looking forward to not being sick at all soon.

I'm planning to breastfeed. It went fine after a few ouchy weeks with my other 2, and if it works then it is so much easier. I think it is partial laziness on my part, but anything I can do to reduce chores the better! Must admit that I'm a bit worried that I may have forgotten everything, my youngest, DD, is nearly 8 so it feels like a very very long time since the baby stage.

How's everyone doing this evening?

Reebok Wed 17-Jul-13 20:15:33

That's a big improvement waves. I remember when I got down to that...felt so much better.

I have spent most of the evening in tears because of the heat. I can't take anymore. I feel so dizzy and nauseous and I just want to stop being pregnant! :'(

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Wed 17-Jul-13 20:48:55

Hi ladies, can I join please? I was due 16th July, had a sweep the same day and nothing! I have had period like cramping and tightenings of my belly with lots of pressure but they have come to anything. I have had this on and off since the sweep. Tonight I think I have lost some of my plug but it was a clear/yellowy colour, but not really sure, when I lost it with my first son it was a bit pinkish. When the midwife did my sweep on Tuesday she said I was 1.5 cm dilated and she stretched me to 2cm. I am going back tomorrow for another one if baby doesn't make an appearance tonight. Is

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Wed 17-Jul-13 20:58:20

Anyone else like me and fed up of the constant calls and texts to see if anything has happened?! Grrrr

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 21:03:17

I'm really worried that the dizziness and the nausea is caused by the iron tablets. alarm bells are ringing.

I want to tell you to stop taking them ( and switch to a lower dose), but I don't want to interfere with you care.

can you call your hospital or out of hours for advice about this?

I don't want to scare you, but I don't like the sound of you being dizzy. that's just not right

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 21:05:16

next person texts/calls this is the answer

"we had triplets a month ago but forgot to tell you. sorry. no time to talk, must dash!"

scoutfinch1 Wed 17-Jul-13 21:20:31

Hi, can I join please. 39+1, due on the 23rd. Got very excited last night when I had a bit of pinkish show but apart from more bits of plug and a few twinges nothing happening yet, very disappointed.

Zingwidge I love that reply!

ZuluWarrior Wed 17-Jul-13 21:27:10

Thanks everyone. DD is absolutely fine. I have recovered enough to do my tax forms (yawn).
Waves I had my first 2 at exactly the same gestations as yours. On Friday I'll be further on than both of them. I will not be impressed! Hope yours comes soon!
I'm planning to breastfeed. Although DD taught me that having fed successfully before does not make you an expert! I think she was harder that her big brother.

Reebok Wed 17-Jul-13 21:59:06

Lol @that response zing.

It can't be the iron as I've been on them since 28 weeks...same dose too. Must just be the heat causing the nausea, hysterics and tantrums I've been having. I'm sure il be fine once baby is here and heat goes down.

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 22:15:22

if you are bf and have problems such as baby not putting on /loosing weight, sore/cracked/bleeding nipples, "constant" feeding, losing latch etc. then get baby checked for tongue tie

another thing - we all struggle to figure out why babies cry, but 1st time mums find it especially hard.

there's a mum called Priscilla Dunstan (Dunsten?) who identified 5 different kinds of cries and what they mean.
when you learn to recognize each cry you'll understand what baby is trying to say. and of course will be able to react correctly

it's fascinating. I only found out about her "Baby Language" theory with DD, and I have to say it is one of the most helpful thing I have ever found!
it works. all babies make the same sounds.

I'll link a good video tomorrow - or by all means Google it.

hope you all sleep well tonight

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 22:17:09

oh that's good reebok

well not good as such, but you know what I mean

stick your head in the fridge if you feel hysterical! grin

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Wed 17-Jul-13 22:33:09

I love that reply thanks smile

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 22:53:32

my personal most hatred phase is "are you still here?"
in person. to my face. with my belly sticking out. angry angry angry angry

ffs! used to give me the rage, but I learned to deal with that.

A: "where else would I be? we are face to face! oh you mean I'm still pg? what gave that away?"

"oh sorry to be an inconvenience, does it clash with your schedule that I haven't given birth yet?
I'll try and hurry up for your sake but I'm not actually due until (insert date).
I do apologise though, I hate to disappoint you .."

either answer must be delivered with accompanying doe eyes and cheese smiles! grin

(and of course you are allowed to swear silently or give them the finger mentally)

Chocomama1 Wed 17-Jul-13 22:58:50

"Have you not had that baby yet?"

Yes i just decided to stuff my top full of pillows...

LittleMilla Wed 17-Jul-13 22:59:59

Feeling brighter having spent the evening out at a gig with DH. Danced my feet off, hopefully DS2 will get the hint it's time to come out!

Yes to whoever mentioned the stabby feeling in cervix. Like they are poking it with scissors!?!?

Had a bit of plug tonight, so excited blush.

Also planning to bf. had a good time with ds1 so praying that we're both able to work well together again as I too am too lazy to bottle feed!

Sending labour vibes to all of you tonight! Let's hope this waiting game ends for someone overnight! x

Chocomama1 Wed 17-Jul-13 23:02:00

Haha yes it does feel like they are trying to stab their way out.
Tomorrow i am cleaning this house from top to bottom... that should get him going.

Reebok Wed 17-Jul-13 23:23:44

Oh thank god the stabby feeling is normal. Been having it all day and its getting worse. DH took me for a long walk right now to encourage bubba out. Here's hoping! Still no mucus plug though sad

Come on baby...out you come already!!!

Isitme, yes I'm planning on bf.

Zing lol @ the fridge...I've done that a few times today already to cool down. Not worked.

Reebok Wed 17-Jul-13 23:24:50

I love this group...so much easier to rant and complain to women who understand and know what I'm going through. People in rl are getting a little fed up of my complaints and constant questions (being a first time mum).

Chocomama1 Wed 17-Jul-13 23:28:53

Dont worry reebok.... we are in it together!!!!!

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 23:40:45

aahhh Reebok I could never be fed up with you - or any of you!smile

Equally, I hope you don't mind me ranting on about my experiences and giving advice - they are rarely welcome in RL as people think I'm showing off or whatever - I just want to help and offer support!

and I can't wait for all these babies to pop out, I'm so excited for all of you!

marushka82 Wed 17-Jul-13 23:46:30

haha, I never thought I'd say this but I want to see the plug! grin

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Thu 18-Jul-13 05:04:10

I'm loving the responses I should give. Thanks ladies. Here's hoping the sex I've just had works a treat. This heat is suffocating! Hope the waiting game ended for someone this evening. X

mamachelle Thu 18-Jul-13 06:47:50

please can i come and play? dc4 is officially cooked today yet obviously far too snug to want to vacate grin

have had on and off labour type stirrings for 2ish weeks now that just arent doing anything exept get on my nerves!

ive got a midwife app at ten so will ask for a sweep

have a nice day all smile

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Thu 18-Jul-13 07:54:01

I'm off for another sweep today. Here's hoping this works. Baby is very low today, hope everyone has a cooler day. X

LittleMilla Thu 18-Jul-13 08:24:27

Good luck for sweeps today ladies. Nothing happened for me last night although more plug this am.

Just called assessment unit as baby isn't moving as much this am and I'm worried. Couple of small/weak moves but that's it. Had breakfast, tea but not much else stirring.

They've said NICE guidelines are to lie on my side for two hours and drink two pints of water. Thing is, I've been up for 2 hours, drink loads (inc a sugary drink) and he's still not dancing hmm.

He's moving, just not as much as normal.

MonstersDontCry Thu 18-Jul-13 08:38:33

Hi can I join? I was due on the 10th and still no baby. sad I'm having my second sweep tonight, I really hope it works! My DD was 12 days late, hoping this one isn't the same!

Isitme1 Thu 18-Jul-13 08:51:27

Good luck to those having sweep. Hope it worjs for you.

Midwife just rang my mum for me and its not even 9!
Trying to get hold of her but the number is busy.

Will catch up soon x

Isitme1 Thu 18-Jul-13 08:55:51

Its just to change the time I was given for induction. So we are not waiting around.
Milla at this stage they cant really do much in there. This lo has been quite but still having his mad moments where you can see limbs poking out of my tummy. If your worried go up and ask to be put on monitor.
It could also be a sign of labour!

Isitme1 Thu 18-Jul-13 08:57:45

Ooo monster!
I really hope it works for you

Miss smarty pants
The advice you are giving really helps all of us so don't worry about it and
thanks flowers

Hows my long lost twin x

LittleMilla Thu 18-Jul-13 09:06:55

Isitme - just had my second 'loose' loo trip in an hour and also lost more plug. I'm now wondering if he's chilling ahead of the main event.

No cramping as yet but feel a bit queasy? Thankfully DS1 is at nursery today so I can just chill the f*ck out all day!! Hooray!

When's induction booked for?

Isitme1 Thu 18-Jul-13 09:27:11

Lol my ds is at nursery today too!! But I've got some cleaning to do lol.

Induction booked for Saturday at 1pm. Im going to ask for the drip as its more successful. Im not waiting around all day lol.

Isnt lightening supposed to make you feel comfier not heavier??

mrsspagbol Thu 18-Jul-13 09:39:30

Am soooo jel of all of you losing plugs! I keep checking (!!!) but nothing!

Nothing but period pain crampy things and mega swollen feet - nothing!

Morning all, can I join in please? I'm 38+2 but measuring 43 and struggling. I have major threat of induction at 40+0 due to being primip and 40 so VERY keen to get things going asap.

Getting some cramps (lower than BH) and lots of loo trips but no show or anything else yet. In this heat its just no fun anymore sad

I'm bouncing on my ball, quaffing my raspberry leaf, doing the 'one in and one up' with EPO and went to an acupressure workshop last night that is supposed to help get things going. I just want to meet her now...

Fx for those of you further along and with more symptoms - hope we get some arrivals soon x

Waves at waves thanks

MonstersDontCry Thu 18-Jul-13 09:57:54

Thank you isitme1, me too!

Mrsspagbol, you might have already lost it without realising.

Is anyone else not going to be induced? I already feel under loads of pressure to be induced.

MonstersDontCry Thu 18-Jul-13 10:11:03

Also, I was 2-3cm dilated when I had my first sweep on Saturday. Do you think it's likely that I'd have dilated even more since then?

LittleMilla Thu 18-Jul-13 10:21:41

Monsters- that sounds very favourable! I was only 1cm on tues.

I won't be induced due to previous c section. Having another sweep next week and then seeing consultant a week today to have waters broken (if all looks ok). That's as far as they'll take me. Last resort will be a c section which I'm keen to try and avoid.

At least I'll have my boy by the end of next week. Hopefully sooner though, would love more than anything to do this all spontaneously!

Reebok Thu 18-Jul-13 10:22:40

Welcome to all the newbies! Such exciting news about all those losing their plugs.

Twin, nothing to report here except I'm very grouchy again today. Slight period cramps, back ache as usual...no damn plug! This baby seriously doesn't want to come out. Think she knows there's a heat wave and is avoiding the awful weather!

Isitme1 Thu 18-Jul-13 10:55:28

Remembering thats my gestation on Saturday 40weeks. Atm I want to be induced. I want the medical intervention so im being looked after and hopefully I will feel 'safer' with drs around.
im not too happy with them not actually making a plan for bloods though. They made a plan for c section if I ask for it but I think they should give me a blood transfusion as soon as they can after birth as levels are already low and will just drop more.

hi to all the newbies here

Twin in this heat what do you put on a newborn? ?
Just a vest and nappy or a romper no vest and nappy???
Ds1 has a short sleeved top plus shorts on n nappy but no vest.

Reebok Thu 18-Jul-13 11:02:35

Honestly have no idea! First time mum here. From what I've read and asked other mothers, I think in this weather it would be a nappy and vest and even then the vest is a stretch. Have been advised to check baby's temp and if they feel hot, lose the vest.

ZuluWarrior Thu 18-Jul-13 11:06:56

Morning everyone!

So many people with days of niggling contractions. After my DS I genuinely thought you just went into labour and had a baby. DD was much more drawn out and this one even worse! You all have my sympathies flowers.

Meanwhile, chez Zulu, we have trickling waters and contractions! I am so hoping that this isn't another false alarm. Off to do the hoovering grin.

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Thu 18-Jul-13 11:10:02

Ok so been to see midwife for sweep no 2 and she couldn't do it as baby is no longer in my pelvis!! Gutted is an understatement!

Isitme1 Thu 18-Jul-13 11:13:25

zulu thats brilliant! ! Fx something more happens soon!! Keep us posted!

[Hugs] chocolateandgreentea how far gone are you? Assuming your term or over would they not book you in for induction?

Twin thats what I was thinking. Will have to just wait and see lol

ZingWidge Thu 18-Jul-13 11:23:41

in hot weather a nappy is enough and I used to use a muslin as blankie.

babies can't regulate their own body temperature efficiently, so err on the side of them being a bit cool in this weather.

if you think baby has a fever check skin on back of neck - better indicator then forehead skin - or bottom, ear or mouth ( not in that order! grin choose one method)
a feverish baby's skin will feel dry, not clammy.

good luck with all the cramping, deplugging and sweeps!

any if any of you goes into labour please promise you'll drop a line!

just say "showtime" or something. ok?

Reebok Thu 18-Jul-13 11:27:41

Thank you zing for all that great info! Very helpful. ;)

LittleMilla Thu 18-Jul-13 11:29:23

Oh no chocolate - that's so annoying. What's the poa now?

Zulu - wow wee that all sounds exciting!

I'm lounging in bed like an overweight walrus. A sight to behold!

Planning a trip to sainsburys in a bit to stock up (again) and enjoy their air con. So sad that I'm planning excursions based on air con availability!

ZingWidge Thu 18-Jul-13 11:29:32

greentea sorry you are disappointed

It's ok though, unless they are 5/5 aka fully engaged they can "bob" up and down.
it doesn't mean anything, some babies don't fully engage until you are ready to push!

ZingWidge Thu 18-Jul-13 11:34:47

if your waters broke can I advise you to call the hospital?

they might want you to go in, might not, but it's better if they have a record and can expect you (and prepare) just in case things progress quickly.

you don't want to labouring in the waiting room...

ZuluWarrior Thu 18-Jul-13 11:54:11

I've never had to do a baby in a heatwave before! DS was born in one of the coldest winters and DD 2 summers ago which, as I recall, was a washout smile. Lots of useful advice on here.

Hope you are all surviving in this heat. Another reason to be thankful I live in Scotland.

Contractions continue to ramp up here. On the plus side, I have just cleaned my hob with a toothbrush and it's like new!

ZuluWarrior Thu 18-Jul-13 11:56:49

Thanks ZingWidge. X posts. Am a doctor so have at least a tiny idea of what's going on smile. My other 2 labours have been 26 hours so I'll be very surprised to go fast (although fully appreciate I could be posting on here with egg on my face later on!).

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Thu 18-Jul-13 12:26:49

Isitme- in 40 + 2. Apparently at my midwife appointment on Tuesday she is booking my induction. Not sure I want to be induced never had to be with DS1 a bit scared if I'm honest. I feel like a bit of a failure. Sorry guys having a bad day! sad

ZingWidge Thu 18-Jul-13 12:29:04

ZuluWarrior Thu 18-Jul-13 12:32:00

Not at all Zing smile. I'm not an obstetrician so no expert.

Eatchoc <hugs>. Not a failure at all. My heads (!) have all bobbed up and down until the last minute. It means nothing. Tuesday is a long, long way away flowers.

ZingWidge Thu 18-Jul-13 12:38:44

and grin at egg on face! 3rd could be much faster!

my first 2 were induced.

3rd - I was in early labour all day on the Saturday, didn't realize.
went to bed at 4am with 2 paracetamols.
woke at 5am, huge contraction.
got to hospital at 6am - 6cm dilated.
2 sips of G&A, wanted to push!
another check - I was ready to push!
dilated from 6 cms to 10 in 5 mins! waters broke with 1st push and DS3 was born with 3 pushes at 6.35 am!

you've been warned!grin grin grin grin

<takes of smarty pants and puts them in wash!wink )

Reebok Thu 18-Jul-13 12:59:20

Seriously? Ok now you're scaring me zing!
Eatchoc, you're not a failure. Baby is probably just very comfortable.

Well I've just finished another morning of cleaning...I tell you my house has been sparkling since I started mat leave...cleaning every day but still nothing. Grr

On a pleasant note, I can actually feel a breeze coming through my windows...for once!! Here's hoping it won't be as hot today eh!

TomDaleysTrunks Thu 18-Jul-13 13:02:19

Hello hello. Just quickly checking in. No baby here yet and all cramps stopped. Been at the park with DD and had a good bounce on the trampoline smile. Here's hoping that helps. I'm too hot to eat so living off granola and fruit!
How's everyone else doing?

ZingWidge Thu 18-Jul-13 13:03:24

reebok sorry!
Don't panic!
a quick dilation like that is very unlikely for 1st baby.

mrsspagbol Thu 18-Jul-13 13:08:13

To whoever above is planning Sainsbury's trips to follow the air con trail can I just say that is 1. a brilliant idea 2. made me smile no mean feat

I am MELTING. No paddling pools at B&Q, Tesco or Argos, all sold out.

I am literally dissolving into a puddle!

mamachelle Thu 18-Jul-13 13:18:29

just a quick update, midwife refused my sweep today on the grounds of guidelines that state that non 1st time mums must wait until 41 weeks for a sweep.

cue me hysterically crying and midwife agreeing to check my cervix to reassure me. she said im ready to go and 2cm dilated so thats better than nothing!

think she may have set things off with the check though, been losing plug and having regular make you wince contractions since i got out at 11am.

good luck to all

Isitme1 Thu 18-Jul-13 14:55:58

Can I come sainsburys too please.
I have a valid excuse I need cleaning wipes and the free air con

Eatchoc your not a failure. Im scared too but its fear of the unknown really. Try and relax about it (might set you off lol)

Zulu im pretty sure you know what your doing and I wont be wearing my smarty pants lol.

zing its about time you put 'em in the wash!

Mama yep they are the guidelines. if you see an old skool midwife ask her she will do it. I got offered one at 38 weeks with ds1 but she said keep it a secret lol

<hands out ice cream to all>

Just took 5 mins break from cleaning. Didnt realise id been cleaning 2 hours straight! Got ironing to do and other bits and bobs so should be done by 4.

Isitme1 Thu 18-Jul-13 14:56:36

Oo and good luck mama hope something happena for you soon

ZingWidge Thu 18-Jul-13 15:12:30

that is brand new info!

here they will do it soon as you are 40 weeks! interesting.

oh well, at least you seem to have started off nicely anyway!

btw Tesco online shop does not accept "cooler weather" on order form. incapable or what?grin

I wish they'd make their minds up on sweeps and induction guidelines - its blimmin confusing! I'm being pushed hard for IOL at 40+0 as primip, there are studies pushing for primip over 35 to be induced at 39 weeks and then they won't do sweeps on multips til 41. Either the placenta gets less efficient with age (of mother and foetus) or it doesn't.

Anyone who doesn't want intervention such as IOL you can push back and ask them to scan an give you more time (although in this heat I imagine its more tempting to go ahead...)

ZuluWarrior Thu 18-Jul-13 15:25:09

TomDaley I'm pretty sure the trampoline got me going last time (you just have to be careful not to wet yourself!).

Reebok do you find that you've got a bit Stepford Wives about the cleaning though? I didn't used to care about whether the piano had been dusted. Now I check every day. I don't think it's healthy grin.

mrsspagbol ice lollies are doing the trick for me. I'd really like to pace about naked but my parents are turning up soon!

mamachelle that must be so frustrating. Sounds like she did a bit of an unofficial sweep anyway though smile.

Isitme I'm not sure that I do know what I'm doing. 3rd time round is quite nice though - I can finally trust that my body knows what it's doing and just go with it (fingers crossed).

Still going with proper contractions, only every 10 minutes though. Looks like another long haul!

Zing - "every little helps" my arse grin

Reebok Thu 18-Jul-13 15:34:41

Lol yes Zulu. The moment I notice a tiny bit of dust I freak. Driving DH mad. Had a lovely cold shower and then sat in front of fan...really helped cool me down.

Mama here's hoping baby will be alone soon. One of us have to go into labour soon to give the rest of us hope.

Reebok Thu 18-Jul-13 15:35:11

Not alone...along. Damn auto correct!

ZingWidge Thu 18-Jul-13 15:39:08

come on babies Aunt Zing wants a cuddle!wink

Isitme1 Thu 18-Jul-13 16:53:37

This 1 isnt going to budge until ive been induced thats for sure.
Ive got about 10 mins of cleaning left and nothing at all.

C'mon babies pull your finger out well head lol

How is everyone coping in this heat?!?!?

TomDaleysTrunks Thu 18-Jul-13 17:53:13

Sounds promising zulu. Keep us updated!

Reebok Thu 18-Jul-13 18:02:58

I'm so so so bored and fed up! I want to be able to bend again and see my toes. And for this yucky taste in my mouth to go.

Still no mucus plug...stupid tiny contractions but not enough. Hope the rest of you are having better luck.

TomDaleysTrunks Thu 18-Jul-13 19:05:18

reebok I feel the same! Fed up of saying to DD that I can't do this and that. Feel bad hmm.
Just done the ironing, too hot. Error! Few BH this afternoon but nothing of significance!

marushka82 Thu 18-Jul-13 19:51:33

Reebok and Tom > I'm not even 40 weeks yet, but so so bored... No plug, no contractions, zilch, nada, nothing.
I'm going to do some cleaning tomorrow to see whether it helps!
My theory is that the babies are afraid to come out because of the heatwave - and who can blame them? I know I wouldn't want to come out of my own private pool! ;)

TomDaleysTrunks Thu 18-Jul-13 19:56:20

I'm only 38+5 but had DD at 36weeks so this feels like an eternity. I like your theory, maybe you are right! It's too bloody cool in there!

I'm with you on the frustration of intermittent contractions, and melting, and cleaning to within an inch of my life!

I hope that someone has an actual baby soon for inspiration, and so the others get the hint and follow suit pretty quickly.

We do have a refreshing breeze here today which has been nice. Small blessings and all that.

Oh and hello to remembering, sounds like you won't have too much longer to wait smile

scoutfinch1 Thu 18-Jul-13 20:39:29

Been loosing plug since Tuesday night and had a few cramps and Bh but still no sign of baby. Keeping my fx that it shouldn't be too long now. Marushka I like your theory too, I think all the babies are hiding. Now it's slightly cooler I think I'm going to do some more cleaning to see if it helps to shift baby along.

ZingWidge Thu 18-Jul-13 21:02:00

my theory is that the babies are waiting for a synchro birth with Royal Fetus! grin

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Thu 18-Jul-13 21:24:31

Hi ladies, I've pulled myself together and realised it'll happen when it happens. Been down to the beach tonight with DH & DS and played tag on the beach so hopefully that might help. Came home and had a very loose no2 (Tmi-sorry) with some shooting pains so I'm now lying on the bed trying not to over think anything! Easier said than done.x

ZingWidge Thu 18-Jul-13 21:31:51

greentea atta girl!wink

I predict at least 2 babies by Sunday 10pm.

Reebok Thu 18-Jul-13 21:39:56

Been in a lot of pain for past two hours to point I was on floor screaming. It hasn't gone yet...coming on and off across my bump, lower back and lower abdomen. Doubt it's real thing though as contractions are not close enough. DH forced me to eat something in case it is and drink lots.

Chocomama1 Thu 18-Jul-13 21:43:41

Sounds like this might be it reebok.....

ive had really bad pressure in my bottom and in mynpelvis...so bad i cant hardly walk...what does this mean? Never been so bad...feel like i need to poo all the time. Its horrible.

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Thu 18-Jul-13 21:48:30

Wow reebok that sounds like it is. Good luck and ill have my fx for you!!
Thanks zingwidge, just got to thinking the more I stress about it the more baby isn't going to want to join us.

Reebok Thu 18-Jul-13 21:53:26

Choco I feel need to poop too but not coming. Sometimes feels tight across my bump. Aren't those BH? And I haven't lost my plug yet so can't be it.

TomDaleysTrunks Thu 18-Jul-13 22:26:40

You don't have to lose your plug to go into labour. bH shouldn't be painful enough to make you scream. Sounds like labour to me!

Reebok Thu 18-Jul-13 22:29:32

Don't want to get hopes up as had this at 37 and 38 weeks too. Both times was told in slow labour.

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 01:09:04

how are you doing?

mamachelle Fri 19-Jul-13 01:59:52

and so i live to be pregnant another day!

i have no idea what is going on with me right now. contractions continued all day but at a variety of intervals mainly between 5 and 15 minutes, each one starting gradually, becoming intense and then fading. changing position and even having a nap didnt deter them.

in fact, they are stil going now at 15 min intervals after going to bed at ten and waking at 1.10 just not very strong.

tmi, my plug continued to come away throughout the day, still very losing bits now and iv had several bathroom visits.

we had the girls picked up by a friend at 4pm yest, she will take dd1 and 2 to school and watch dd3 throughout the day today on a play it as it comes basis. i thought that maybe the girls not being here would stop any mental block or labour hesitation as ive been really worried about them and who to call, where they will be, what they will need etc

i am so confused! is this just really slow/early labour? is any of this doing any dilating or finishing preparing the cervix? i didnt lose any plug b4 the internal yest so that surely would indicate recent changes?

i think i just thought dc4 would be different. dd3 was born in 5 hours from 1st twinge to placenta. no warm ups or signs just went straight into it.

i am sooo sorry for that very long, drawn out and selfish message. i need advise from all you wise ladies smile

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 02:43:38

Mama I feel awful for you. I know how frustrated you must feel, unfortunately no advice here but hopefully someone wiser will be along soon.

Zing nothing yet. Pain has continued but much more manageable so I'm sure it's not the real thing yet. Another disappointment here sad

LittleMilla Fri 19-Jul-13 03:22:27

Anyone up? Think things could be happening here!

Prob not the real deal but went to sleep a bit crampy. Woke up after hour and a half after dreaming of contractions hmm and woke up properly an hour ago to feel proper 'surges' through back/tum. Coming about every 15 mins for about 20-30 secs.

Lying down not comfy so I've come down stairs to drape myself over ball. Also want to see if they'll continue if more upright. More loose bowels too with plug still coming away!

Come on baby, please be it! x

TomDaleysTrunks Fri 19-Jul-13 04:08:11

Sounds promising. How are you feeling now?
Too hot to sleep. Lots of bowel movements here but no pains.

LittleMilla Fri 19-Jul-13 04:17:59

Feel like they're coming too soon to be real. Intense and about every ten mins for 30 secs.

They're very tolerable, but certainly uncomfortable enough to breath through.

My right leg is spasming too which I know is a sign that ds is well in my pelvis as he traps nerves.

DH still asleep and so not sure what to do? Go back to bed and try to sleep? Terrified things might stop if I lie down hmm

TomDaleysTrunks Fri 19-Jul-13 04:36:41

Hard to know. Might not be lasting long enough to be proper contractions. I'd try and get some rest probably. Things will ramp up if it is true labour. Can you feel your bump going very tight during each pain?

LittleMilla Fri 19-Jul-13 06:20:16

Coming every 6-7 mins now and intensity is ramping up. Lasting about 40 secs?

Also shifting to my pelvis and not just in back. Yes, while bump goes hard.

DS1 now up so a welcome distraction! Called my mum as this is beginning to feel like the real deal!

Salbertina Fri 19-Jul-13 06:24:07

Good luck all and which one of you is Kate? smile

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 07:24:11

that's good progress and I'm pretty sure this is it!smile

how exciting! good luck and if you can't post then see you on the other side! wink

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 07:32:05

it is definitely the start of things, don't worry about irregularities, the contractions will pick up pace.

the plug going is a good sign, and yes all of that "bothering" means that the cervix is doing it's thing.

I'm pretty sure that once you got your kids "out of the way" things will kick in!
Every labour is different. yours has begun.

good luck to you as well! x

LittleMilla Fri 19-Jul-13 07:49:01

Feels like it's all moving too fast. Sometimes they're coming every 4-5 mins then I won't get one for 8/9 mins. Is that normal? Admittedly, the ones after a longer wait are much more intense and longer?

Sorry for silly questions. Second baby but first labour so clueless. DH and I are frantically trying to get house in shape - good distraction for both of us I think grin.

MonstersDontCry Fri 19-Jul-13 07:49:22

Ooo sounds exciting milla! smile how are you doing? Good luck!

I had my second sweep yesterday. Midwife said I was 3cm now, yay! I told her I didnt want to be induced but she just dismissed me and booked an induction for Wednesday anyway. I don't know what to do now. I'm really upset. Any advice anyone?

MonstersDontCry Fri 19-Jul-13 07:51:40

Xpost milla! I had that with my first. They were really irregular. Have you phoned the midwife?

LittleMilla Fri 19-Jul-13 07:58:02

Called the hospital who said to ring them back when 4-5 mins apart. Guess I just wait until they're regularly doing that and it all becomes more uncomfortable?

Seems to be much more frequent when I'm up so decided to have a little lie down to just ease them off a bit wink.

No idea on inductions, sorry. Surely if you're 3cm things ought to kick off automatically? x

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 08:09:48

Milla you are in early labour.
a little irregularity is no problem.
the uterus is getting ready.

you are doing well and keeping upright will put more pressure on cervix so running around the house and tidying is fab!

MonstersDontCry Fri 19-Jul-13 08:13:22

Yes rest while you can! Did you get much sleep last night? I'm ever so slightly jealous. wink

Just think, you could be holding a snugly newborn by the end of the day!

I really hope it does just happen on it's own. Today would be good. grin

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 08:15:41

monsters time for DTD.

as I said before a sweep followed by sex does get things going!
3cms is brilliant, I wouldn't worry about being induced!

a 2nd sweep would be great on Monday - can you book it today? just explain you want to avoid an induction.

The worst thing is to get upset.
happy thoughts!
watch comedy or bloopers on YouTube.
try to relax and keep busy.it will happen.

I did predict 2 babies by Sunday 10pm after all!wink

MonstersDontCry Fri 19-Jul-13 08:26:00

I'll try my best to make your prediction come true zing. grin

We've been DTD nearly every day, although DP was too tired last night hmm

I've got another sweep booked for Saturday, so hopefully that will get things going!

When was/is your baby due zing?

MonstersDontCry Fri 19-Jul-13 08:28:30

Oh and no chance of me being able to watch anything on YouTube with DD around as YouTube = peppa pig apparently.

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 09:02:01

oh I'm not pg. I'm just here to support you all! wink

TomDaleysTrunks Fri 19-Jul-13 09:05:07

Sorry Milla I fell asleep! How you doing now? Sounds like things are cranking up. Someone needs to have a baby on this thread!! Keep moving if you can.

TomDaleysTrunks Fri 19-Jul-13 09:06:52

monster good luck with it! 2nd sweep would be good. Impressed with all the DTD. We've done it twice this week. I bled / lost a bit of plug after one episode but doesn't seem to have done much.
Things slowed down here, very few BH though lots of lower back pain and pressure in bum. Fed up of feeling I need a poo.

Reebok sorry things slowed down sad

Isitme1 Fri 19-Jul-13 09:16:52

Milla I hope your silence means your pushing lol

Zing im hoping 1 of them babies is mine. Ive just sooo had enough. Last nighy took the piss. I was in agony with the stabbing shooting bottom of tummy into faj pain.
Theb tightenings and I feel like waters are going to go at any time but obv haven't .

Twin dont worry try and relax and it will happen
.eat choc thats the way. Dont think about it.

Tom how are you feeling

Mama how are you?

Hows everyone?

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 09:29:10

Milla this all sounds very exciting. Hopefully you will be holding your LO by the end of the day.

Thanks isitme and Tom...I'm sure things will start up again soon enough. I've been in false/slow labour or whatever the hell it is for far too long. Baby will have to arrive soon so back to walking and cleaning like a mad woman again today! Still getting period cramps which is great!

LittleMilla Fri 19-Jul-13 09:33:00

Not pushing!! Contractions are getting closer together now. Every 4 or 5 mins?

Going for a walk to the coffee shop. Mum is now here and we can whizz to hospital when we need to - only ten mins away. Walking is making them WAY more intense.

Any thoughts on shorter inbetween but also shorter contractions??

Hope someone else shifts soon.

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 09:35:28

How often are contractions supposed to occur for them to take to you? My hospital says 3 contractions in 10 mins lasting a minute each for at least an hour. Does that mean contractions should be 2/3 mins apart? I'm confused!

Isitme1 Fri 19-Jul-13 09:42:21

Reebok that sounds just about right. Contractions every 3 mins lasting a min or so.

Sorry milla no idea.
Miss smarty pants will come along and answer soon
Hope things progress soon for all of us.
Its a good thing the hosp is 10mins away.
In traffic it can take close to an hour to get to the 1 im booked at.
Shortest journey time is 20-25min.

Just checked notes. According to growth chart baby is 4100 (9lb) and that was on Monday!

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 09:43:01

Milla that's fine too.
It's not an exact science.

they sound regular and coming quicker already.
excellent progress, A+ from the headmistress! (yep, I took charge. it's a thing)

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 09:43:16

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 09:48:32

Reebok bit of womb math for you:
3 contractions in 10 mins - jot down the time each contraction starts.
say: 10.36, 10.40, 10.44
(so could be 4 mins apart, but still 3 within 10 mins!)

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 10:03:05

Thanks zing and isitme. Makes more sense now. Thank god for the contraction timer app I have on my phone. Makes it much easier to time the contractions!

Another case of loose bowels sorry tmi! I swear I've never had to run to the loo so fast!

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Fri 19-Jul-13 10:07:47

Reebok - Looks like we could have our first baby by the end if the day!! Yippee. Sadly not mine but keep going us ladies will follow suit eventually.

However I am very jealous.x

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 10:12:17

Eatchoc I very much doubt it. I've had loose bowels for weeks and these stupid annoying contractions too. I have a feeling baby will keep me waiting. She's far too comfy in her own private pool to get out and suffer in the heat like the rest of us. She will come when she's ready I guess!

Ps your name is making me want to eat chocolate now!

Isitme1 Fri 19-Jul-13 10:49:40

Hope somebody has a child soon lol.

Quite happy this morning ds is singing london bridge is falling down (we've had a lot of problems with his speech and its the past few months thats brought his speech on)

Talking about tomorrow mum wants to come with me to make sure everything goes ok. Think mum and dh will take it in turns to sit with me

LittleMilla Fri 19-Jul-13 11:00:37

They're getting closer together and very intense, esp when walking around.

Just spoken to hospital who are happy for me to go in. I'm not expecting to be more than 3cm but being vbac I'd rather know what's happening. Esp as I'm starting to find it all very uncomfortable. Time to take some paracetamol I think grin!!

Will keep you all posted x

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 11:03:13

BraveLilBear Fri 19-Jul-13 11:21:04

Go go Milla! Good luck... We're all living vicariously through you right now smile

cogitosum Fri 19-Jul-13 11:21:15

Is everyone on this thread in some kind of labour (albeit slow or false)?

I'm a week over today and haven't had a single contraction or show sad

Is it possible to go from nothing to proper labour within a day or do you always have the slow contractions etc first?

LittleMilla Fri 19-Jul-13 11:21:57

gringringrin Thanks Zing!

BraveLilBear Fri 19-Jul-13 11:28:09

Hi cogito I had been having niggles but nothing for a few days now. No plug nothing. So it's not just you!

<drums fingers impatiently>

cogitosum Fri 19-Jul-13 11:30:32

I thought I'd been having nighles but tbh I don't think I'd have noticed if I hadn't been looking out for then iyswim

I did have diarrhea for nearly a week but I think that turned out to be just a bug as I hadn't dilated at all and I'm now back to constipation (apparently there's nothing inbetween!)

Go Milla Go Milla Go Milla
Reebok hope things keep moving for you too.

cogito I'm not showing any signs yet either but I'm only 38+3. 2 of the mums from my ante-natal classes went from no signs to full blown in less than 6 hours - no 'latent' phase for them at all. Will keep fx for you. thanks

Good luck Milla and Reebok I really hope that things progress.

cogito, I am now a week into on/off contractions, but for now the baby seems quite content where he is. Frustrating really, but then I am, like Remembering, only 38 + 3 (although DD was born at 38 +1, and DS at 39, so kind of hoped that there would have been an appearance by now)

I wonder if mowing the lawn would help move things along, or whether I should use this time to keep my feet up and relax?

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 12:08:02

Thanks ladies but things seem to have slowed down today aside from the occasional twinge.

I wouldn't worry cognito. My sister went from no signs to full blown labour in 24 hours a few years back.

Still no show. Hmm... Decided to go for a walk and help things along. Plus I needed chocolate desperately for some reason this morning (thanks eat choc! Lol)

Much cooler at this hour than it is later otherwise I have to wait until after 7 to be able to cope with the heat.

waves after the torrid time you've had I'd really recommend taking the time to relax with your feet up m'dear - you have most definitely earned that! thanks

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Fri 19-Jul-13 13:18:44

Sorry Reebok, my name is my theory, if I drink green tea and keep the weight off I can eat as much chocolate as I like lol. Works for me! smile hope you keep going and baby is with you soon.

I got a bit upset this morning and had a full blown crying session, since then I've had pressure down below and feel like I've been to the toilet every 2 mins. I'm now bouncing on my ball. Think I needed a good cry!

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 13:21:43

Lol sounds like a good idea eatchoc! Wish I liked green tea. Sounds promising with the loo trips! Keep bouncing!!

Isitme1 Fri 19-Jul-13 13:40:25

Eatchoc thats your hormones playing up which can happen before labour

woooop woooop go milla

Reebok its zilch here again. Nothing at all.
Im shocked that waters haven't gone! With ds they went at 38weeks!!

Im guessing tomorrow or sunday is the day for all of these babies including kates lol.

Isitme1 Fri 19-Jul-13 13:41:17

im officially serving all these babies an eviction notice. You have 48 hours to leave the body!

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 13:43:09

Isitne1 or else?grin

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 13:46:39

Lol isitme! Here's hoping they listen!!

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 13:50:23

I made up the phrase "emotional wank" yesterday to define a "big cry to calm down"

it's based on the film "There's something about Mary"

there's a scene when Ben Stiller goes out with Cameron Diaz and he is utterly nervous.
Matt Dillon (I think) tells him that he should knock one out quickly in the bathroom - that would take away pant up tension and help him calm down and relax.

so having a big cry is just like that, it calms you down, takes away the stress.

I had one yesterday. felt much better after!

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 13:51:17

*pent up

mamachelle Fri 19-Jul-13 14:06:11

ooh milla, how exciting! good luck!

isitme- i like it! i am tellin my baby now!

TomDaleysTrunks Fri 19-Jul-13 14:27:33

Right, tightening every 4 min last 45 secs or so. Going into back, uncomfortable but not painful. What do we reckon? Fully expecting it to stop again. Going to take DD for a walk.

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 14:34:14

Not sure but keep walking...maybe it will help to move things further along. Sounds promising! Fingers are firmly crossed for you!

TomDaleysTrunks Fri 19-Jul-13 14:37:07

Thanks. Not holding out much hope of it carrying on after so many false starts!

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 14:38:18

I know how you feel. Maybe try squatting? That's what I'm doing today on top of walking.

Isitme1 Fri 19-Jul-13 14:49:51

I had an emotional wank today sad
After last time ive just realised im petrified of giving birth again. Ive been giving a section second thoughts. But if I have that I wont be mobile quick enough for ds1.Im scaree that ssomething will happen and I end up leaving 2 kids behind.
Feel really shitty.

Walking is very good to keep contractions going tom and Reebok.

There was a nice breeze before dont know where its gone x

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 14:57:38

The heat is back out again so I can't deal with walking outside. Am just walking around the house like a mad woman every so often.

Aw isitme you will be fine. Try not to worry. Don't want it slowing things down! Sending you a twin hug x

Isitme1 Fri 19-Jul-13 15:00:38

Thank you. Ive packed some clothes for ds1 and will take them over ti where he'll be staying.

Hes at nursery and I miss him loads!! Shouldn't of sent him today. He could of stayed home and kept me company.
Actually the rest is nice lol

I have to sit on the loo to feel the breeze in my house lol.

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 16:08:13

poor you! I sympathize!

DD was a VBAC and thank goodness I chose that as I managed to push her out with no tears!

when I was fully dilated and was told I can push all the pain disappeared and I panicked and decided I'm not pushing!
I told the midwife I changed my mind and I want a C-section!
cue shock faces.
I kid you not I folded my arms, pouted and shook my head! grin
I would have stomped my feet too, like a tantruming toddler!
It was utterly bizarre.

MW and DH were trying to convince me, but I was refusing.
I only decided to start pushing because I thought MW might slap me otherwise!grin grin grin

that should cheer you all up. wink

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 16:09:13

* no tears - as in no tearing & no stitches

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 16:10:14

Lol that story made me laugh! Made my day!

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Fri 19-Jul-13 16:19:36

Lol isitme, eviction warning has been passed on.

Emotional wank-love it.

I feel like this baby is never going to come out. There's just nothing's so far. Doesn't seem the slightest but interested!!

Isitme1 Fri 19-Jul-13 16:31:35

Thank you zing. Might try that myself.
Id be happy if they said your a few cm dilated and we can break your waters. I really dont fancy the pessaries.

Eatchoc this baby is that comfy I can still see his limbs shooting out of tummy!

I would love not to tear.

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 16:59:21

I keep seeing the same thing with the limbs twin! Lol

My stomach hurts...keep wanting the loo but either can't go or go too much. Sorry tmi again! Fed up and very uncomfortable with irregular stomach tightenings.

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Fri 19-Jul-13 17:00:50

Yeah I get random limbs deciding to make an appearance or a bottom in under my ribs. There's def no moving this baby.

Isitme1 Fri 19-Jul-13 17:03:51

Lol twin. Your copying me again or is it the other way round?
It looks sooo weird to someone else when that happens!!!

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 17:15:36

Lol Yeh very true. Still make my DH and mum jump when they see limbs. I'm use to it on the other hand although find it more painful now that there's less room.

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 17:26:03

ok about tearing - listen to your MW!
when they say stop pushing you have to stop!

it makes all the difference!
with 2 youngest it was a few (5? 10?) minutes of push-stop-push-stop....but despite the pain and the desire to shoot baby out I felt very much in control and that was fantastic!

DS5 was my biggest at 9lb14 and I tore with him, but with DD - nada. she was 8lb 3

aahhh I love giving birth, I'm so jealous! envy

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 17:34:50

Feel free to give birth for me zing!

Thanks for great advice yet again!

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 18:09:54

TomDaleysTrunks Fri 19-Jul-13 18:11:21

Dropped to 10-15 min while out but now home back to 6-7 min. Not very sore though so I remain unconvinced!

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 18:14:48

(btw you being a pg Tom is just grin )

I think it will speed up.
are you timing with an app?

TomDaleysTrunks Fri 19-Jul-13 18:16:18

I was earlier but stopped when DD woke up. Will get her bathed and into bed then start timing properly - and bouncing!! Feel very tearful, might be time for that emotional wank!

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 18:40:46

grin wank away!

mamachelle Fri 19-Jul-13 18:55:26

so my waters have just broken shock

um, slightly in shock, not sure im ready now! had resigned myself to not having a baby this wkend.

TomDaleysTrunks Fri 19-Jul-13 19:00:35

Woohoo mama that's brilliant! How you feeling?

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 19:02:45

msmachelle did baby ready the eviction note?wink

ah so cool though! thanks

how far are you now?

ReikiMummy Fri 19-Jul-13 19:10:20

Hi all Can't remember if I've posted on here before or not but I've been lurking for well.. since the thread started. smile Great thread!! smile

After some discomfort and aches over the past few days - today nothing and 41w today...

Midwife been this afternoon and sweep done.

Aromatherapy oils topped up and also given some for a foot bath.

OH has been warned will be DTD this evening... twice... lol He fair skipped round sainsbugs after that! Lol

MW due to come back on monday for another sweep if no signs before then.

Also told them in no uncertain terms wish to avoid induction as have home birth planned. (Will be having another quiet word with the baby about this also...) Don't mind going up to be monitored daily if need be. smile

(Will change mind on that if medical risk to baby or me goes up).

Time I think to fully engage with this process as I realised this afternoon (before the sweep) that I may have been avoiding the issue and being a lot bit scared of it all. If I could just press a button and get on with it rather than sit around waiting for it I think I'd have less time to get anxious over it all!

So, hypnosis, reiki and visualisations will be going strong from this moment on. (As well as tins of prunes, dried prunes and at least 3 packets of fig rolls to be going on with!!) wink

(Was also thinking that either baby or me are waiting for the Royal little one to arrive first... but what you betting it ends up sharing a birthday with the dear darling?!) meh. I think I have a few last minute issues to go sort out!! ;)

Sorry for the long post.... and for lurking. Its been keeping me going this thread over the past few days. flowers for everyone. x

ReikiMummy Fri 19-Jul-13 19:11:05

:D :D Ooooh!! Exciting Mama!!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss Fri 19-Jul-13 19:14:37

<<sneaks into thread>> I went two weeks over with both of mine!
<<sneaks out>>

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 19:17:11

grin at your DH escaping!

easy on the prunes - there are no air fresheners on labour ward!wink

yellowsnownoteatwillyou Fri 19-Jul-13 19:18:42

So jealous of mama, lucky you hope everything goes well.

I'm away for more bouncing on my gym ball, after eating a curry.

If one more person calls me, "just to see how I am" when you know they are just fishing to see if you are in labour.

I have crampy tum that goes round the back but not consistently this has been going on for 5 days, tonight's the night I hope.

ReikiMummy Fri 19-Jul-13 19:24:24

Zing we WILL be birthing in my kitchen... in the pool. wink

(This is of course subject to baby agreeing also to this and helping things get a move on!)

Parents and sister gone away for the weekend... think it might be a good weekend to get on with the job!!

mamachelle Fri 19-Jul-13 19:35:18

lol zing i think baby got the message loud and clear smile

im not sure how i feel atm bit contractiony, bit sick (nerves?) mostly excited though!

funny thing is that dh had just said to me ten mins b4 "what will you tell the girls has happened if your waters break in front of them"

my reply "suck it up and say i had an accident. but thats not going to happen anyway is it!"

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 19:53:39

Mama that is great news! Hopefully there will be a baby by morning. Keep us in the loop! Just been for another very long walk. Feet ache like hell and have turned into a balloon but no cramps unfortunately. Think I need to jump around a bit!

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 19:56:29

hope Milla's doing ok.

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 20:04:50

I quickly read through from OP to my 1st post - no one has come back yet to announce baby yet.

I think Milla is going to be the "ice-breaker"

LittleMilla Fri 19-Jul-13 20:12:39

We did it! Still in hospital as had meconium in waters.

Exhausted and sore bit ok. 3-10 cm in an hour. Oweeeee!

HUGE congrats Milla enjoy newborn cuddles. Sounds super fast smile

Now for the business of evicting the rest of these babies....

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 20:23:22

That's excellent news! Congrats milla! Hope you're both doing well. What did you have? Boy or girl?

Stupid question but erm what's meconium?

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 20:37:31

meconium is baby poo

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 20:39:12

you are a ★!

TomDaleysTrunks Fri 19-Jul-13 20:45:42

Congratulations Milla! Fab news, well done.
May you have broken the lack of baby movement on this thread!

Things here have died down again. angry

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Fri 19-Jul-13 20:54:34

Milla- huge huge huge congratulations well done. Hope you're both well. smile

Well I'm in a tepid/warm bath, and nada nothing. I've been and done the food shopping and nothing. I'm debating whether to go and have a bounce on the ball or just go to bed and chill. DH bought me some galaxy ripples do the latter is the way I'm swaying. Hopefully these baby's wil get a wriggle on. X

Isitme1 Fri 19-Jul-13 20:59:54

congratulations and thank you for letting us know.
How are you both doing?
Boy or girl?

Mama can I ask where did your waters break? I kept thinking mine would break while out shopping lol.

mamachelle Fri 19-Jul-13 21:18:02

congratulations milla, hope you and baby are both well! enjoy your new baby cuddles!

isitme, waters went mid convo with dh sat at the dining table. most definitely glad it was at home since it was a very heavy leak that hasnt stopped yet and i thought i might have felt it coming.

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 21:40:45

Mama can I just ask what it feels like when your waters break? And just how much water are we talking here?

TomDaleysTrunks Fri 19-Jul-13 21:47:27

My waters broke suddenly with DD in the middle of the night. I woke up, felt a pop and suddenly my waters gushed everywhere. They carried on leaking for 48 hours.

TomDaleysTrunks Fri 19-Jul-13 21:47:46

Oh and it was A LOT of water. No mistaking it.

My waters didn't break with DS until I was in active labour and heading for transition. Felt a pop whilst I was in a deep bath, got out shortly after and suddenly it was like a waterfall blush

With DD I had ARM when I got to 9cm with no progress (induced labour). Midwife broke my waters and she came out in 2 pushes moments later. LOTS and LOTS of water. Never experienced waters going outside of the delivery suite or before I got to very near second stage labour, so not really expecting my waters to break in advance of things this time.

Any more contractions Mama?

BraveLilBear Fri 19-Jul-13 21:53:26

Woop congrats Milla! Sounds like a trial and a half but yay to babies listening to eviction notice <points phone at belly and starts tapping out morse code>

Good luck mamachelle!

mamachelle Fri 19-Jul-13 22:17:40

no contractions now which is actually quite nice as am sat in my cool, beautifully quiet garden with dh eating choc and watching the bats fly around smile

dds 1 and 2 were induced and waters broken for me so cant remember fully. dd3s waters were bulging at arrival at hospital (very full, heavy feeling), as soon as they broke she almost fell out lol that was a huge gush, kind of explosion like. very surreal!

with these waters now, think of if you have a coughing fit while heavily pregnant with a full bladder. it was a small burst and i stood up confused, went to the bathroom and it trickled and i have since had lots of small gushes and changes of maternity pads lol

tmi but thats how it was smile

LittleMilla Fri 19-Jul-13 22:33:10

Quick update from us as pethadin finally worn off and feeling normal (ish). Had a little boy and he weighed in at 8lb 9oz, no name as yet - brain too befuddled to decide.

Came in, got sent home after monitoring as only 1/2 cm. got back and within 30 mins waters went pop and we noticed meconium so raced back in.

All went mentally quickly after that. Pain was so intense that gas and air nt working so asked for a pethadin jab at 4pm. Had only just gone in and I started transitioning and needed to push. Had gone from 3-10cm in just 45 mins. Pushed for 30 mins or so and out he came.

I just feel so relieved. He was back to back but turned. I was on all fours which seemed to help at the end.

Shattered but got nervous excitement. Been told to wake him up in a sec for a feed as they're worried about dehydration in this heat.

Good luck everyone else. grin

Congrats Milla I hope all is well and no issues from the meconium. Enjoy your snuggles with your DS thanks

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 23:14:42

Pains started up again. Partly contractions, partly a need to go loo every 2 mins. I know it will come to nothing again because seems to be happening every evening this week.

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 23:35:00

ahh, a little MillaBoy! sweet! thanks

so happy for you! please kiss his little tootsie from me! x (I don't have a foot fetish, but baby toes are so yum!)

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 23:35:20

*tootsies! all of them!

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 23:38:55

Reebok you'll get there honey!

eat something if you can, drink a bit of water, take some paracetamol and rest.

don't worry about the paracetamol masking pain completely, when it's the real thing you'll feel it!

I'm up for a bit...

Reebok Fri 19-Jul-13 23:40:57

Pain not going. Don't want to take paracetomol yet because it seems to stop things completely. Running to loo every 5 mins but I can't seem to go!

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 23:50:53

are you in constant pain or do you have breaks in between?

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 00:01:58

Having breaks in between but ranging between 8 - 15 mins. But then I find myself feeling like I need loo on between.

ZingWidge Sat 20-Jul-13 00:09:31

ok, the loo thing is happening because the gut and the uterus are somehow connected

stimulation of one will stimulate the other! all the advice about eating a curry, pineapples, prunes etc are kind of reasonable, because as the bowel is stimulated so is the uterus so in theory a good curry poo can start off contractions!

(and so can an orgasm)

a contraction at this stage is unlikely to be longer than 30-40 seconds. how do they feel?

ReikiMummy Sat 20-Jul-13 00:21:02

congrats Milla!! :D

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 02:48:34

They're lasting longer...up to a minute. Not as bad right now though so think its fizzling out.

Have tried curry and spice in general. Doesn't seem to work on me except give me heartburn.

mamachelle Sat 20-Jul-13 02:54:06

milla that sounded brilliant (exept the meconium bit!)
how are you feeling today?

i love birth stories!

no news from me, baby let me sleep for a few hours, this is just my usual ish wake up time so am just having a brew but am going to try and force myself back to sleep again after.

i phoned labour ward before i went to bed who said to stay at home unless babys movements reduce, waters go green or contractions are 5 apart. If none of the above happen i need to phone again at 8am to make an app 4 a check up and get poss induction started.

does anyone know how they would re-start labour if full waters have broken?

reebok- how are you doing?

mamachelle Sat 20-Jul-13 02:56:02

sorry x post. takes me ages to type messages lol

you holding up ok reebok?

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 03:03:44

Ah hopefully your contractions start up again mama. RE restarting labour, sorry...no idea. But I'm sure someone will be able to help you!

Am ok. Pain isn't too bad. I can manage but seem to be waking constantly to pee or once again try to poop. Getting pretty fed up of the loo trips and think I might have to migrate to the bathroom soon!

TomDaleysTrunks Sat 20-Jul-13 03:25:24

mama it varies trust to trust. I was induced with syntocinon drip 48 hours after waters broke. Dd was born 5 hours later grin.

reebok mine have completely died out again. It's so blooming frustrating. I'm up and having an ice lolly. It's super hot here still.

mamachelle Sat 20-Jul-13 03:26:52

i had loads of bathroom visits yest and thursday too! did you find that you can barely pee when you get there? n that sitting on the loo ramped contractions up? thats a strange old situation to be in, stuck on the loo lol smile

im going back to bed now altho i may just wake dh up and make him talk to me instead!

good luck, will check in the am, hope you manage to get some rest

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 03:29:11

Eurgh ice lollies! Can't stand them because when I had hyperemesis, there was a point that ice lollies were all I could eat for weeks on end. And I mean it...literally ALL I had that I could hold down without being sick. Bad memories are now associated with them.

That sucks Tom about it fizzling out. I'm getting fed up. If baby doesn't want to come now, I wish I would stop getting these stupid contractions daily.

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 03:31:36

Mama yeh I actually do find that. Thought I had a uti so checked and it's all clear so I don't understand why I constantly feel the need to pee/poo and can't go! And baby doesn't seem to like it when I do try and end up contracting. Odd huh!

Lol @ waking DH. My DH is pretending to be asleep right now.

Hopefully we will have another baby or two on this thread soon enough!

mamachelle Sat 20-Jul-13 03:35:14

thanks tomdaleys. meh to the drip (had that with dd1 but at least this time i have age and experience on my side.) i will however have a bit of that there 5 hour labour!

saying that, i was hoping to be done and dusted by mid night last night . . aha, ah well, at least baby listened to part of the eviction notice! grin

night all, sleep well x x

TomDaleysTrunks Sat 20-Jul-13 03:43:07

The end is in sight mama. Hope you get some sleep. grin At waking DH!

Is this your first baby reebok? Can't remember how far along you are? Baby is irritating your bladder and bowel as sat very low. I feel like I constantly need to poo too, it's a horrible feeling. Fed up of sitting in the loo 6 time a night.

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 03:58:03

Yep first baby so everything is new to me and I don't really know what to expect. It's been a difficult pregnancy too. I'm 40 weeks on M

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 03:59:51

Monday...pressed send too soon.
What about you?

Just been reading up on cory montieths death and started crying. Yes I loved the show but I have a feeling the crying is partly hormones.

TomDaleysTrunks Sat 20-Jul-13 04:07:14

Sounds like you've had a tough time with it all. Not long to go now though, nearly done. 2nd time round for me, dd is 2 years 4 months. Been an easier ride compared to first preg.

Hope you are off the toilet nowwink. I'm off to try sleep now. Had some good news though, my friend had her DD at 40+ 9 today, was due to be induced Monday. Great news!

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 06:45:47

Thanks Tom. Haven't been able to sleep. I feel like I'm going to start my period. Pain in front lower abdomen And lower abdomen since 5am again. And going loo every half hour and nothing will come except what I think is pee. Not even sure. I seriously feel like my period is going to start.

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 06:46:32

That meant to say lower back...sorry lack of sleep tonight.

TomDaleysTrunks Sat 20-Jul-13 08:19:33

I really think you are going to have this baby soon. How you doing now?
And mama?

TwoOfThree Sat 20-Jul-13 09:46:25

Morning ladies, and congrats Milla!

How are we all today, sounds like a few of us are moving in the right direction!

Still no movement here and 41+3!
Had a sweep on Wednesday but nothing, booked in for an induction on Monday, but still hoping I go naturally by then.

Glad it's a bit cooler today, staying on the sofa today though as my ankles puffed up last night like crazy! (No other sinister symptoms)

What are we all up to?

ZingWidge Sat 20-Jul-13 09:58:10

update please!

the strong period pain you described is about right.
do you feel them as contractions or just a vague on & off ache?

ZingWidge Sat 20-Jul-13 10:00:58

Tom and Two

I hope things will speed up for both of you.
it is nice and cool here too.
hopefully babies will be happy to pop out now!

MonstersDontCry Sat 20-Jul-13 10:34:15

Congratulations milla! grin did you know you were having a boy or was it a surprise?

Reebok, it really sounds like you're baby will be here soon! Exciting!

I'm going to have my THIRD sweep today. Really hope this one works. My DPs friend had their baby last night. She wasn't even due for another week so I'm feeling a bit Down today. Ten days late now argh!

ZingWidge Sat 20-Jul-13 10:40:50

monsters (hug)

think of it this way, you will definitely have baby by next Saturday!
so don't count up anymore! count down!

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 10:52:52

Hi guys

Pain still here but not as bad so think calming down a bit. Managed to go poop tmi 3 times already since 6am! Don't know if it is the real thing but will keep moving around until I'm sure.

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 14:00:13

Things seem to have stopped again so looks like no baby today. Am keeping active to try and encourage bubba out...already cleaned the house for the 100th time this week and going to go out for a long walk...may as well considering the temp has dropped (thank you God!)

Any news from anyone else? Mama, Tom, twin?

marushka82 Sat 20-Jul-13 14:23:55

Congrats Milla!

Guys, nothing new from me, but I'm jealous to read that some of you have contractions! Better that than nothing like in my case! And ok, I'm not overdue yet, but getting restless and I really worry that I'll end up being induced and not being able to give birth in the Birth Centre sad

Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you!

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Sat 20-Jul-13 15:21:37

Hi ladies, no news here. Thought waters had gone through the night but seemly not. I'm now in bed with terrible sinusitis and can hardly move my head and face due to the pain. Give me labour any day! The paracetamol isn't working either sad

Hope your all ok and enjoying the cooler weather.

TomDaleysTrunks Sat 20-Jul-13 18:34:35

Sorry about the lack of progress everyone! I'm in the same boat. Today's new symptom; constant nausea. It's horrendous. Can't eat. Not sure what it is, any ideAs?

ZuluWarrior Sat 20-Jul-13 19:51:54

Congratulations Milla! flowers. Sounds like there are a couple of other babies in the offing too.

Sorry for going AWOL. My contractions ramped right up on Thursday afternoon so we went in to hospital at the back of 6. Was 7cm when I arrived. BabyWarrior #3 took another 5 hours to arrive at midnight. Ouch. But he is fab and I am fine.

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 20:00:13

Marushka how far along are you? Don't worry hopefully you will feel something soon.

Eat choc, that sucks about sinusitis. Hope you are resting.

Tom, I had that nausea the other day but was convinced it was because of the heat.

Zulu that's fantastic news! Congrats!! Hope you and baby are doing well. Any name yet? Looks like zings prediction of 2 babies by the weekend was right!

I went for a walk in the shops for a few hours and nothing! This baby wants to stay inside me. Think she will be late.

ZingWidge Sat 20-Jul-13 20:06:50

<does smug dance and sings:
"I told you so, I told you so I-I-I told you so!">

Congratulations Zulu! brilliant news!
so happy for you! thanks

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Sat 20-Jul-13 20:07:15

I've just been on a long walk and to be fair ran most of it racing my 3 yr old.

Zulu-congratulations flowers glad you and baby are doing well.

I think this baby doesn't want to come out. X

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 20:09:48

Lol zing! Now pls predict when baby reebok will arrive and BE RIGHT pls. I'm so so so so so fed up! My stomach is basically sitting on my lap which makes it so uncomfortable to sit or lay down.

mamachelle Sat 20-Jul-13 21:30:42

just a quick one to let you know that my beautiful daughter was born today at 2.43pm weighing 7lb 0.5oz. grin

we are having to stay in tonight so will update properly tomorrow night!

Reebok Sat 20-Jul-13 21:40:36

Mama that's excellent news! So happy for you...congrats! Hope you're both well.

Looks like the babies are starting to roll out! Any news from isitme?

ZuluWarrior Sat 20-Jul-13 21:44:08

Congratulations mamchelle! xx

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea Sat 20-Jul-13 21:48:48

Congratulations mamchelle! flowers these babies are coming thick and fast!!

I'm starting to get jealous, mines not even interested in the slightest?! X

Congrats zulu and mama! Thrilled for you both.

I hope hope hope baby waves follows along soon. I'm now down to one remaining sachet of raspberry leaf tea. I just had a bath with clary sage, whilst drinking a cup of rlt and eating fresh pineapple. On off contractions for 8 days now and feeling really impatient. I hope that the pineapple stays down, took my meds 30 mins before eating it, as I can't imagine much worse than freshly eaten pineapple reappearing.

Hope others make progress soon too

TomDaleysTrunks Sat 20-Jul-13 22:19:48

Congratulations zulu, fab news! Hooray! Enjoy lovely snuggles.

waves really hope the pineapple stays down.

Nausea has lifted. Few rumblings but nothing much. Hoping for a good nights sleep really, is that too much to ask for?

MonstersDontCry Sat 20-Jul-13 22:33:59

Congratulations Zulu and mama! grin

I'm glad zings prediction was right! I wonder if there will be any more babies tomorrow?

Isitme1 Sat 20-Jul-13 22:34:14

ZingWidge Sat 20-Jul-13 23:23:38

I guarantee you that you'll have baby by <countsvon fingers> the end of your pregnancy!
how's that?grin

Congrats Zulu and Mama!
Nothing happening here yet other than mild cramping... Think she's staying put for a few more days... Acupressure and bouncing on the agenda for tomorrow.
waves how did the pineapple go? Any progress?

Hopefully we'll keep the trend going. 3 more tomorrow!!

MonstersDontCry Sun 21-Jul-13 00:02:06

Good luck isitme! Let us know what happens!

Been having really strong BHs tonight. Just wish they'd turn into proper contractions!! Wish I could sleep too.

Can you have a look in your crystal ball for me zing, and tell me when this baby is coming? He obviously takes after me for laziness.

ZingWidge Sun 21-Jul-13 00:08:15

shock the Magic Womb is upset. don't call it a crystal ball!wink
(actually it's just the curry!grin )

I predict baby will be out before the placenta. how's that?grin grin grin grin

Reebok Sun 21-Jul-13 02:10:04

Lol zing....

Has anyone experienced a sort of numbness in their toes? My feet are swollen from the long walk but for past few hours toes particularly on my right foot have felt so numb.

BraveLilBear Sun 21-Jul-13 03:46:06

Morning all... congrats to mamachelle and zulu smile I'm up as I think the waters have gone. Seem to be having sort of waves of strong period pains so have got up in an attempt to time them without disturbing DP but so far am rubbish at telling when they start and stop. I assume this will become more obvious at some point!

TomDaleysTrunks Sun 21-Jul-13 03:50:45

Oh that's exciting bear. Period type cramps might turn into waves of contractions. Do you have an app to help you time it? Did you get a huge gush of waters?

I'm up, feel like I'm going to have diarrhoea. Bloody nausea back too.

TomDaleysTrunks Sun 21-Jul-13 03:51:28

grin zing, oh wise one.

BraveLilBear Sun 21-Jul-13 04:03:26

Woke up thinking I was weeing myself, went to loo but water kept coming in small gushes. Thought it might bebbladder control issue as I could stem the flow a bit if I tried and so decided to put a pad on to see. Went to get knickers (usually sleep naked) and ended up stuck on the landing with water gushing out. Very odd.

Confusingly, I do seem to be needing lots of wees but pad doesn't smell like urine at all and the gushes were accompanied by period pains.

Contractions still mild but more obvious now. At about every 5-6 minutes and using app. Writing birth plan...

How come you're awake Tom?

TomDaleysTrunks Sun 21-Jul-13 05:51:26

Pain in my bum and legs. Plus DD is messing around this morning.
How's it going now? Sounds like you are doing a great job. Hope things have carried on progressing.

ZingWidge Sun 21-Jul-13 08:17:06

reebok toe numbness - baby might have shifted a bit and now pressing on some nerves.

ZingWidge Sun 21-Jul-13 08:18:58

Bear good start with the waters going! it's all happening!

ZingWidge Sun 21-Jul-13 08:21:44

Tom you as well, the creature is stirring!

nausea and loose poo - perfectly normal, your body is getting ready.

How are you all?

MonstersDontCry Sun 21-Jul-13 08:29:45

Haha zing! I hope you're right about the baby being first. Your posts do make me laugh. grin it's just what I need at the moment.

Ooo exciting bear. How're you now?

Bear and Tom, did you manage to get any sleep last night?

ZingWidge Sun 21-Jul-13 08:32:59

that's why I'm here, rubbing feet, handing out drinks and snacks, preferably ice cream.

here's a joke:

knock knock
who's there?
Europe who?
No, you're a poo

Oh Zing that made me laugh (and DS). I slept in this morning for the first time in I can't remember. Good thing as I didn't get to sleep til 2 ish. Period like cramps AGAIN but no regularity whatsoever. Clearly the clary sage bath, raspberry leaf tea and pineapple did absolutely nothing whatsoever.

Any progress Bear - sounds quite exciting to me smile

I have decided that reading MN late at night is NO good for me whatsoever. Have been mentally berating myself for a couple of days after reading a thread about toast, and realising that I am so badly spoken that I offer the DCs "Bits" of toast for breakfast as opposed to slices, pieces or rounds. Bits of toast indeed....

Reebok Sun 21-Jul-13 11:22:04

Lol zing!

Bear that's great news. Hope things continue to progress.

Another sleepless night thanks to period pains which were coming every 10 mins and the constant need to visit the loo. Tom I totally know what you mean about the 'pain in the bum!' Lol ah it will come to nothing today as usual.

TwoOfThree Sun 21-Jul-13 11:34:44

That's exciting news bear!
Still nothing here except for indigestion. The midwife is coming over in half an hour to give me another sweep as the last one didn't work, and if not I'm being induced tomorrow.

The hospital called and asked if I wanted to go in today as they are quiet and I totally chickened out!

Reebok Sun 21-Jul-13 11:37:49

Can I just ask...is it normal for your hospital to not see you until you're 41 weeks? I had my last check up with gp at 38 weeks as its split care and my hospital don't check you until 41 weeks so I have no idea if I am even slightly dilated. My gp didn't do all the checks and didn't even tell me at my last appointment if baby was still engaged. Nothing in notes.

ZingWidge Sun 21-Jul-13 11:43:05

shock you should have had checks at 39 & 40 weeks, that is bad form that they didn't!

get checked tomorrow, demand it.
and a sweep while you are at it!

ZingWidge Sun 21-Jul-13 11:45:16

should have been a MW btw.

just called them up tomorrow and say that you are worried about what's going on, and that you haven't been seen..ask them to monitor baby's heartbeat.

ZingWidge Sun 21-Jul-13 11:45:57

not called, call!

MonstersDontCry Sun 21-Jul-13 12:01:12

That's really bad reebok. Definitely ring the midwife tomorrow!

Reebok Sun 21-Jul-13 12:28:34

Oh ok thanks ladies! Will call tomorrow.
