I am actually melting.

It is too fecking hot. angry

HeffalumpTheFlump Sun 07-Jul-13 15:27:33

Yep, I'm inside on the loveliest day of the year because the minute I step outside I feel so faint from the heat. I barely slept last night because of it!! I'm just looking forward to next summer when we will be enjoying it with our baby girl smile

AbiElizabeth Sun 07-Jul-13 15:37:02

same here Heffalump i'm sitting watching people outside having fun.
When're you due?

afrikat Sun 07-Jul-13 15:49:09

Oh my word I can't cope! The kids next door have a paddling pool - I may kick them out smile

AbiElizabeth Sun 07-Jul-13 15:50:42

Do it!

I had a cold shower and didn't want to get out. Run out of icelollies and DP is working till late. :/

Reebok Sun 07-Jul-13 15:54:34

Yes I'm officially dying! This weather is not made for pregnant women! Went for a walk because I'm trying to get baby out...due in two weeks and already having contractions. But had to come back because heat was too much. I thought I'd be able to enjoy myself and the weather once I started mat leave. No such luck!

AbiElizabeth Sun 07-Jul-13 16:16:47

I feel a bit guilty for not enjoying the weather and being outside, but I know as soon as I go outside i'll burn again

TinkyPeet Sun 07-Jul-13 16:26:32

I'm just a puddle on the floor.....

Littleballofhate Sun 07-Jul-13 16:28:32

I hate the heat. I am light sensitive. I get massive headaches and nausea. I despise being sweaty all day. Bring on Autumn and winter!

AbiElizabeth Sun 07-Jul-13 16:34:09

Impressive typing skills for a puddle tinky

LadyFlumpalot Sun 07-Jul-13 16:38:09

Yes. I'm munching my way through a pint glass full of ice. I've cut my mouth to shreds chewing it but its SO NICE!

TinkyPeet Sun 07-Jul-13 16:45:08

Too hot here and only 32 weeks. Not looking forward to the rest of this month long heatwave everyone else has been cheering about. Still commuting an hour into work on the tube full time, but office is fairly well aired (not air con but good enough). Luckily I don't have swelling or any blood pressure probs to start with but still I feel completely washed out and can hardly sleep.

ReikiMummy Sun 07-Jul-13 17:14:15

39w here.... Melting too. Looks gorgeous outside but our back garden is like a sun trap - mega hot - struggled to put washing out earlier. :S

About to fill the birth pool up again for the 4th day in a row for at least a 3 hour long soak/cool off....!!

Chickpea1983 Sun 07-Jul-13 17:51:04

Sorry to say, I love the warmth and still comfortable, but I have savage hay fever that's keeping me indoors sad, and a pelvis that feels like it is going to shatter any second so not allowed to do anything 'outdoorsy' angry

snickersnacker Sun 07-Jul-13 17:53:21

Hate it, hate it, hate it. My feet are elephantine and I'm moving between the living room with my feet in a bowl of cold water, and the bedroom where we have a little air-conditioning unit. I have no idea what I'm going to wear to work this week while it's so hot.

Rowboat Sun 07-Jul-13 19:46:25

Im not great in heat anyway, and am only 16 weeks but dying. Plus my toddler kept asking to go outside, and dh was out most of the day. She also keeps climbing on me and I just want her to get off. Its tooooo hot for that. Grump .

PurplePoppySeed Sun 07-Jul-13 20:08:33

Ahhh, "month long" Rake? Oh god, I'm also commuting into London - cant cope!

Kelly1814 Sun 07-Jul-13 20:20:26

Spare a thought for those of us in the Middle East...48 degrees today! Car AC broke on way to a meeting and was drenched in literally 30 seconds. Vile!

WhatILoved Sun 07-Jul-13 20:22:27

I'm loving it, but only 24 weeks and possibly was a lizard in a past life!

HeffalumpTheFlump Sun 07-Jul-13 20:25:06

Abi - I'm not due until October (am 26 weeks now) but am absolutely massive already. My bump has its own gravitational force and people are constantly doing the whole "are you sure it's not twins" bullshit.

Ladyflumpalot - same, ice is my best friend, especially at night!! Fantastic name by the way!

JollyShortGiant Sun 07-Jul-13 20:28:45

I'm going through a pack of icicles a week grin

purpleaura Sun 07-Jul-13 20:47:58

31 weeks and my fingers are like sausages. Soooo hot sad time to send dp out to buy ice lollies smile

I have just left south west America where it was 49 degrees. Now I am back in England it just feels nicely warm. Although without air con in our home the nights feel far too warm.

Whiteshoes Sun 07-Jul-13 21:16:30

Amen. Hating it. Our front room is all windows and boiling boiling. Miserable and 36 weeks. So grumpy. And now allowing the toddler to play with the tablet, when I promised myself I wouldn't.

Nellysgirl Sun 07-Jul-13 21:44:25

Any tips for sleeping through the heat anyone? Bedroom is like an oven the last few days!

steakchipsandfriedeggs Sun 07-Jul-13 22:06:27

Feel like a beached whale today, and ankles have swollen up for the first time. I love the sunshine normally but just can't handle the heat at the moment. It's impossible for me to look or feel attractive in this sad

BettyFlutterbly Sun 07-Jul-13 22:30:04

Wow I can't imagine how pregnant women cope in the really hot countries!!
I'm in northern Spain and it's in the high 30s and I'm boiling day and night and also trying to entertain three year old dd in the house as it's just too much going out after lunchtime.
How am I going to get through labour in August in this heat?

Lj8893 Mon 08-Jul-13 00:36:01

I can't cope with it anymore!!!! And work is the worst, my building is baking hot (although no-one else seems to think so!) and I am struggling to even walk and talk when I'm there!!

Any tips? Pleaseeeeee!!!!

Longfufu Mon 08-Jul-13 07:19:48

Suffering here too... 35 weeks and you can't distinguish between my feet ankles and legs - so painful sad

PseudoBadger Mon 08-Jul-13 07:49:31

Hate it! Thank god it was a weekend and I didn't have to get on the tube. I'm dreading tomorrow (although hopefully won't be as hot as the weekend). I'm seriously reconsidering my ML dates...

lilstar Mon 08-Jul-13 11:23:38

Yep! I am only 19weeks pg and dont have a very big bump yet. I fainted yesterday in church with the heat. Embarassing having to be helped out by 2 people. It's deffo a pregnancy thig with me as the only other times I havr fainted were when pg with dd also during a hot spell.

bunchofposy Mon 08-Jul-13 13:00:35

I was going to start this exact thread over the weekend! I am really struggling too. Really feel for those of you living in a really hot country and those of you still going to work (I went on mat leave early partly because I am so hopeless if it's at all hot!)

My coping methods so far have included going swimming (for hours, if looking after my toddler) and going to a nice cool supermarket with a cafe!

MortifiedAdams Mon 08-Jul-13 13:02:09

Oh my word - Im.only 6eks and thought I had it bad! Ice virgin mojitos all round.

I feel.hotter than the sun, and it is overcast and grey here today.

Nellysgirl Mon 08-Jul-13 15:29:19

I've got nothing to wear suitable for this weather. Just shopping to find something cool. Nothing fits right confused

ilovemulberry Mon 08-Jul-13 15:46:54

I'm 29 weeks tomorrow, the air con in the office doesn't work, everyone else is moaning about how hot it is too!!! My feet are so swollen and have started to stay indented when i press on them. Great, only another month of this heatwave, God knows what august is going to be like. I am tempted to go and buy a small paddling pool just to sit in!!

cravingcake Mon 08-Jul-13 15:47:08

One thing that helps, especially those of you stuck at work is to get your wrists under cool water for a few minutes. Its only a temporary refresh but does feel really nice for those few minutes.

That and as many ice lollys as you can eat grin

ExhaustedMamasita Tue 09-Jul-13 09:42:33

I’m LOVING this weather and so is my bump, who I’m convinced has growth spurts after a bout in the sun. 32 weeks pregnant and couldn’t be happier in the heat!! But like you WhatILoved, I must have been a reptile in my previous life!

parttimer79 Tue 09-Jul-13 10:02:07

I'm sorry but I'm rather liking the fact the sunny weather has coincided nicely with my wind down to mat leave, I'm 35+5. Apart from a presentation to write I have nothing to do but mooch about in the garden/ lie in hammock/eat ice cream.
If I was working and commuting it would be a whole different story!

AbiElizabeth Tue 09-Jul-13 10:02:48

I am fed up of it now. I have horrible hayfever today and sunburn from going outside for 20 minutes yesterday.

JollyShortGiant Tue 09-Jul-13 15:16:53

32+5 here. I can't wait for DS to wake from his nap so I can get the paddling pool out!

moominmaiden Tue 09-Jul-13 15:39:38

Nellysgirl I've been putting a baby bath filled with cold water and ice cubes next to the bed. Every time I feel a hot flush coming on I simply swing my legs out of bed and plonk my feet in the water for five minutes.

Another thread (I'm not sure if it was on MN as my memory is not what it was) suggested putting on a pair of wet socks, if you don't mind damp sheets. There is a strange sock shortage going on in our house at the moment as I threw them all away in a fit of odd-sock pique when sorting out the laundry a few weeks ago (with the intention of buying a couple of multi-packs from Primark) ... but I've found a wet pillowcase to be quite effective.

Alternatively, you could try leaving the bathwater to go cold after you've had a bath. I've done this a couple of times and have been known to come downstairs and sit in the bath in the dark at 3am!

I've also been daydreaming that I'm in Greece, on the beach front, eating Greek salad in between swims in the very cold sea.

I am suffering and i'm only 28+4 i just can't bear it though confused

kd83 Tue 09-Jul-13 16:59:02

I'm also enjoying the sunny warm weather, apart from when I'm in the direct sunlight in the middle of the day.

I admit I'm a bit restless at night and its not helping my restless legs, but I'm usually so cold that I'm soaking it up.

kd83 Tue 09-Jul-13 16:59:37

ps am 26 weeks currently so understand those further along must be suffering

JRmumma Tue 09-Jul-13 17:08:25

Im glad i started mat leave yesterday. No more commuting for me! Not feeling too bad at 33wks and enjoyed a picnic in the sun yesterday, although today feels much warmer and have mostly stayed inside.

Im also powering through washing all of the baby's things and getting them dry today. Wasn't going to do it just yet but thought i might as well make use of being able to hang it all outside. Just hope no-one lights the barbie!

lolalotta Tue 09-Jul-13 20:06:35

I am really struggling at night with the heat, am 33 weeks. hmm
I haven't had a decent nights sleep in ages and am really feeling it now. hmm

Nellysgirl Thu 11-Jul-13 21:54:50

Moominmaiden - that is really useful thanks so much! I'm giving the baby bath a go tonight smile
