Stretch & sweep at 41 weeks

(100 Posts)
webminx Sun 30-Jun-13 08:19:46

Off for a S&S today at 41 weeks. Bit nervous. What's likely to happen afterwards? Have heard stories of a) nothing happening as conditions were "unfavourable" or b) going straight into labour after the sweep.
Did you have a S&S and if so, what happened next? Did your waters break?

And God, does it have to be so hot!?

TobyLerone Sun 30-Jun-13 08:24:40

I had one. Periody-type pains for a bit afterwards (and the actual procedure wasn't the most comfortable thing!). Then nothing. Induced at 42 weeks sad

tumbletumble Sun 30-Jun-13 08:33:01

I had one at 40+5 and was told things were looking promising. No pains afterwards. Went into labour less than 48 hours later - who knows if the sweep made any difference?! Waters didn't break until late in labour.

Good luck!

Ezza1 Sun 30-Jun-13 08:33:37

Same as toby sad Sorry!

That was with DC3.

KnittyGritty Sun 30-Jun-13 08:52:39

I had two about 5 days apart. The first one didn't do anything but after the second one I got up at about 1am and mt waters broke all over the bathroom floor. (it was like that scene out of friends grin ) Contractions started about half an hour later and DD arrived later that morning. The S&S was uncomfortable but not painful.

KnittyGritty Sun 30-Jun-13 08:53:35

webminx Sun 30-Jun-13 08:53:55

Gah. This is DC2. Hoping for a miracle and the S&S will trigger a marvellous, almost pain-free, 2-hour sneeze labour ...

Chesterado Sun 30-Jun-13 09:07:17

With my first I went at 41 weeks and cervix was posterior so it couldn't be done. Went back for another at 41 + 3, cervix was favourable and it kicked things off, contractions started a few hours later then DD was born 12 hours after that.

Am now 40+6 with number two and fed up. Had a first sweep at 40 weeks which prompted a show and lots of cramps but no baby yet. Back for another tomorrow which I hope will have the desired effect - pain free two hour labour would go down well here too.

Hope yours works today!

Cavort Sun 30-Jun-13 09:08:10

I had one last Wednesday at bang on 40 weeks - no baby so far. sad Some of the plug did come away during the sweep and a few mild period-type cramps afterwards but that's about it.

It was a little uncomfortable but not really painful and was interesting to know the current condition of my cervix (effaced but quite posterior and 1cm dilated).

I have another one booked for this Wednesday at 41 weeks.

Good luck OP, I hope it works for you. smile

EwanHoozami Sun 30-Jun-13 09:14:54

I had a S&S at 41 weeks and went into labour two hours later in Sainsbo's.

That might have happened anyway of course, but worth a try, eh?

Katydive Sun 30-Jun-13 09:52:22

I had mine for DC3 on Thursday at 40 +5 and despite some period type pains nothing occurred, I did lose my mucus plug yesterday morning and have continued to lose it today and overnight.

She found me to be favourable and was able to feel baby's head easily to do a good sweep, my cervix was medium to soft and open 1cm (this is common in subsequent pregnancies as it never really closes) I had a Bishops score of 6. I have another one on wednesday at 41 +4 and induction on Friday if that doesnt work but I suspect I will of had her before then.

I had 2 with dd1 & dd2, were uncomfortable made me bleed a little and then nothing-ended up being induced at 42 & 41+6! When dd3 was late i refused it & she was born 10 days late & dd4 4 days late.

I'm of the opinion after having 4 late babies that babies will come when they are ready and i thing sweeps that do work only work when baby is on the verge of being ready. So unless you have positive signs ie diareah, nausea, lightening, and bloody show i wouldn't bother, as its clear baby isn't ready to come out from his or her cozy environment just yet!

webminx Sun 30-Jun-13 11:29:04

Well just had the S&S. Cx was posterior, thick but soft and (TMI alert!) admitted fingertip. Baby not engaged either. So not great.
She said she pulled the cx forward and was able to do the sweep but am a bit dubious... Scheduled for another in 3 days time. If that doesn't work, she said they advise induction on day 12.
Feeling quite despondent sad - can see hopes of a homebirth rapidly dissipating...

Chesterado Sun 30-Jun-13 13:29:53

Fingers crossed for you, if any consolation dd was never engaged last time but still came out after the second attempt!

emsyj Sun 30-Jun-13 13:36:20

Neither of my babies was engaged when I went into labour - DD1's head was still floating free at a midwife appointment less than 8 hours before I went into labour.

Fingers crossed for you that your baby arrives before your induction date.

webminx Sun 30-Jun-13 14:56:09

Thanks everyone - very reassuring to hear re non-engaged babies too! Trying to keep positive!

BurnThisDiscoDown Sun 30-Jun-13 16:08:00

I had a S+S at 41 weeks, they told me my cervix was effaced and was 2-3 cm dilated, so was very excited. Nothing happened then for the next 36 hours, then had a 2h 15 min labour. smile

webminx Mon 01-Jul-13 08:32:58

Right. So. Periody type pains since 4:30am. Could this be the start of something or just wishful thinking, do you think?
PLEASE YE GODS, let this be the start of something shakes fists at sky

emsyj Mon 01-Jul-13 09:42:17

Fingers crossed for you! How about a nice long walk?

Chesterado Mon 01-Jul-13 16:14:58

Hope the cramps pains are going somewhere op. Have now had mine and off for a long walk!

webminx Mon 01-Jul-13 21:24:59

Woot! Cramps are still there, bit more uncomfortable and have had a show. HUZZAH! Progress. Bring. It. On... (may regret this gung-ho attitude later ;)
Good luck Chesterado - hope your walk worked!

Chocomama1 Mon 01-Jul-13 21:40:05

Congrats! Did it start off by freling like you were coming on yoir period?

webminx Mon 01-Jul-13 22:20:05

Yes, felt exactly like that at first. Going to take some paracetamol now and take myself off to bed to see if I can get some rest. Hopefully, things will keep going and not peter out (like last time...). Wish me luck!

MrFranklyShankly Tue 02-Jul-13 09:01:17

Hey webminx any joy yet??? I have my s&s today and really really want something to come of it.....hope all is going well for you????

webminx Tue 02-Jul-13 09:49:25

screams silently keeps slowing down to just mild cramps but continuing to have the show. No real contractions and no real progress. MEH!

Have another S&S scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, so hope to go into labour overnight tonight. Trying to stay positive that at least SOMETHING seems to be happening... Good luck with your S&S today MrFrankly!

Chesterado Tue 02-Jul-13 10:15:25

Webminx I feel your pain. Two hours of regular contractions here last night, started to get excited then they completely stopped. Nothing since and if one more person tells me to have a curry....

No more sweeps booked here, induction looms on Saturday. I am going to try some acupuncture tomorrow as final resort.

Thinking positive baby thoughts for everyone fed up of waiting!

webminx Tue 02-Jul-13 10:31:13

Totally agree about the curries. Also "have a nice long walk" makes me quite stabby.
I had reflexology, which a couple of times in the last 2 weeks, which I found to be very helpful (got twinges/contractions each time afterwards) so am sure acupuncture will be really effective! Good luck!

Chocomama1 Tue 02-Jul-13 10:33:56

Keep calm as possible...more calm you are more will happen. My period feeling has stopped sad

MrFranklyShankly Tue 02-Jul-13 13:07:07

Oh ladies really hope that this is just all building up and there will be babies for you all soon....getting slightly nervous now about my sweep never had one before and this is dc3....sending positive vibes to you all ;-) keep thinking flowers opening!!!!

Katydive Tue 02-Jul-13 14:40:12

Good luck with the second webminx, I also have my second sweep tomorrow (am 10 days over today) losing so much mucas/discharge (sorry for tmi!) it's untrue. I've had so many various pains and niggles over the past three weeks it's untrue and until I get what I actually think are good strong pains I'm not saying a word to anyone. I have even just walked around Kiddicare with a friend for two hours! Honestly I'm so used to going to bed and walking up with nothing happening I'm going to be so surprised when it does! When are you booked in for Induction? I'm down for Friday which is a nightmare as its my sons first sports day sad really wanted a water birth but if I am going to be induced I want every drug going!

tumbletumble Tue 02-Jul-13 18:47:17

Good luck to all of the heavily pregnant ladies on this thread!! How are you all feeling?

Chesterado Tue 02-Jul-13 20:12:39

Still very much pregnant here - and knackered from walking and cleaning frenzy (yep I have been on my hands and knees scrubbing, wont bother with that again).

Katy fingers crossed it doesn't get to Friday, however re waterbirth I have agreed to go into be induced on Sat (plus 12) because they've said if the pessary kicks off labour quickly I can still transfer to midwife unit, where as if I leave it any later I will be post dates and can't.

MrFranklyShankly Tue 02-Jul-13 21:05:33

Had sweep today at 3.30 and haven't had as much as a cramp :-(( the only thing I've managed is to nearly kill myself trying to get myself of the examination table after having the sweep!!! Not even as much as a twinge :-((( hope ye are having better luck x

Chocomama1 Tue 02-Jul-13 21:49:54

Im feeling so much pressure like i need to do a number 2. Painful to walk the pressure is alot
I dont know what this means?

Katydive Tue 02-Jul-13 21:52:34

Chesterado- that sounds like a good idea after pessary, I will ask mw tomorrow.

Mr- give it until tomorrow, I lost my 'plug' 24 hours later, I may be wrong but I read somewhere that if the sweep is successful it will often be between 24-48 hours later, I did have mild period pain after but this soon vanished!

Tomorrow is another day and we still have tonight!

webminx Tue 02-Jul-13 22:51:13

Nothing doing here. Although baby has now, I believe, engaged if the fact that I can't really sit down or walk up the stairs without wincing is any indicator...
I've also been "told" by MW that induction on day 12 is the next step but that's to be discussed tomorrow. Thinking of requesting that we wait til 14 days over before meddling but then I think a homebirth will be a definite non-starter sad.

Fingers crossed we all go into lovely, quick, almost painless labour overnight and have our babies by morning...

Underwood2013 Tue 02-Jul-13 23:01:53

Just reading this thread and it gives me some hope of the possibility that things can change quickly...

Have had 2 sweep attempts at 40+3 and again today at 40+8... Both failed as Cx closed for business. Gutted as am booked for induction Saturday (+12) and really want baby to come on his own before then!! had a few tears earlier in front of midwife (awkward!). Fun times.

chesterado I went for acupuncture yesterday... Nothing happening yet but am holding out hope that it does something. Good luck for your session!

webminx Wed 03-Jul-13 08:12:01

Nada. Second S&S today. Counting down the hours with grim determination. Has anyone had more success overnight?

MrFranklyShankly Wed 03-Jul-13 09:02:51

Good luck 2day webminx, hope something comes from this sweep for you.....nothing happening here at all....booked for induction next Thursday so at this stage ill go with whatever! But hopefully like you say Katydive says things can change and happen at any time, will keep that in mind....keep us updated web ;-)

Underwood2013 Wed 03-Jul-13 09:16:48

Nothing happening here either sad

Good luck w s&s today web!

Chesterado Wed 03-Jul-13 09:29:04

Nothing here either. Sorry to hear acupuncture has had no impact yet Underwood, I'm going this afternoon, if nothing else it gets me out of the house and feels vaguely constructive.

Good luck for second sweep webminx, this one has also engaged and feels like it is about to fall out. Very strange feeling as my first didn't - currently clinging to the fact I went into labour with her at ten days over, now nine with this one so by precedent at least it should all kick off tomorrow.

Katydive Wed 03-Jul-13 11:45:03

Well just had my 2nd sweep, cervix well open to 1cm and it was so soft she was able to stretch to 7cm! Good sweep around baby's head she was t it for about 3 minutes!

Surprised me by booking me in for induction tomorrow morning at 8am, she is confident they will be ble to break my waters so a possible water birth after all.

I have huge waves of pain though now after sweep so am keeping a close eye on timings, fingers crossed for all x

Underwood2013 Wed 03-Jul-13 12:10:32

Great result Katy!!! Fingers crossed you get to have that water birth... Good luck!!!

MrFranklyShankly Wed 03-Jul-13 12:11:36

Good luck Katy all sounds promising, either way you should be holding your lovely little bundle by tomorrow night....so exciting :-)

mrsyattering Wed 03-Jul-13 12:13:49

Had mine at 41 weeks, was painful and not favourable. Was booked for induction 3 days later, waters broke the night before at midnight and ds was born at 730 am

Chocomama1 Wed 03-Jul-13 12:14:33

Good luck Katy!!

Still nothing..slight period pains but thats it.

Wonder who out of us will go first!!

webminx Wed 03-Jul-13 12:48:29

Oooh Katy that sounds very exciting - fingers crossed for you! You may be able to go to that sports day yet :-)

Chesterado Wed 03-Jul-13 16:14:27

Good luck Katy, I think my money's on you!

webminx Wed 03-Jul-13 21:12:10

Keeping fingers crossed for you Katy!

Well, second S&S showed no real progress. Booked in for monitoring and "a chat about induction" for Friday morning. Apparently, they may be able to give me a pessary and send me home again. While this does appeal on one level, am also thinking if conditions are unfavourable anyway, this will still not work and may just start a chain of intervention. Am therefore thinking seriously about turning down the offered induction if I get to Friday, and asking for another 2 days' grace.
Anyone have experience of turning down induction and going on to have a HB?

Katydive Wed 03-Jul-13 21:57:22

Well the sweep seems to have dine the trick I'm having contractions every 15 mins since 8.45 pm, been told to wait until 2 in every 10 mins before ringing labour ward but I suspect I won't make the morning, boys are round mums so I can stay nice and calm....agghhhh! Will be taking my iPhone to keep track of all your progresses! X

Underwood2013 Wed 03-Jul-13 22:00:33

Great news Katy - happy to hear things are progressing!!!

When you have finished with them, can you pls pass the labour vibes my way? wink

webminx Thu 04-Jul-13 07:31:53

+1! Still nothing here...

Underwood2013 Thu 04-Jul-13 09:37:53

Wonder if we'll all pop on the same day??

No signs here, keep hoping to be woke in the night with waters breaking or something!

MrFranklyShankly Thu 04-Jul-13 10:07:04

Nothing happening here either underwood, would be funny if we all popped on the same day! Ohhh Katy sounds like there is a possibility that you could be holding your lovely bundle of joy now....looking forward to an update.....webminx hang in there you could be next

Well I really thought things were looking up yesterday as I started to cramp really badly on and off and had a slight show....but then yesterday evening all stopped :-( so concentrating on inducement next week......positive thinking might make it happen sooner!!!! Good luck ladies. F

Chesterado Thu 04-Jul-13 10:56:40

No baby here either! Have had a lot of period type achy pains and cramps since the acupuncture but nothing to show for it yet. Going back for another session this afternoon, after that i'm resigned to induction on sat. Underwood if that's when you go In too I'll race you!

Still very much hope to come back on here and read of amazing spontaneous labours over the next few days though - positive thoughts for webminx!

webminx Thu 04-Jul-13 11:18:17

Short contractions every 20 minutes or so. COME ON! Hoping for longer, stronger and closer together soon! I hope this isn't another false start!!

purpleaura Thu 04-Jul-13 11:21:52

I have to admit to following this thread with excitement and anticipation (31 weeks and getting excited about meeting my little one, though there's still a long wait smile). I just wanted to say good luck to you all! I'm willing you all on here, sending you the best vibes I can flowers. Fingers crossed webminx!

Underwood2013 Thu 04-Jul-13 12:25:43

Barring any changes before - you've got yourself a race chesterado!!

My appt sat is at 9.30 but I understand they do a bit of exam / monitoring before there is any pessary action.

I went for a pedicure today, think the lady was scared I'd pop there since I struggle to move with my spd. No such luck but at least toes will be looking nice, ha ha.

Fingers crossed for you webminx - sounds positive!!!

Chesterado Thu 04-Jul-13 12:30:26

Oooh how exciting webminx. Everything crossed!

Underwood I go in at 1000 so you have already got 30 mins on me!

Chocomama1 Thu 04-Jul-13 14:20:51

Go on webminx!!!!!

webminx Thu 04-Jul-13 16:31:02

contractions every 10 minutes for last couple of hours. Last few getting stronger and bit closer together! Starting to believe this might be it :-)

tumbletumble Thu 04-Jul-13 18:37:37

Yay! Go webminx!!

MrFranklyShankly Thu 04-Jul-13 19:56:52

Ohhhh webminx you lucky thing .....actual contractions!!!! Fingers and toes crossed for you x

Underwood2013 Thu 04-Jul-13 20:01:40

I second that - lucky you with the actual contractions!! Good luck webminx!!

webminx Thu 04-Jul-13 20:10:08

Back to every 10 mins. This is DS1's birth all over again.... sad

Underwood2013 Thu 04-Jul-13 20:55:44

Hang in there... We're all pulling for you!!! C'mon baby webminx!

Chocomama1 Fri 05-Jul-13 07:55:49

Any news?

Period pains started again

Chesterado Fri 05-Jul-13 08:10:14

Morning, period pains sound encouraging Choca! I also had a lot of painful cramps over night, at one point they were coming quite regularly but then fizzled out around 5am. I was awake from 3am so shattered now but dd is up and raring to go.

In other news my mil and the various other people currently annoying me have gone from 'where is the baby' to you might as well hold on until the royal baby comes and get the special coin etc etc. Grr.

Underwood2013 Fri 05-Jul-13 09:35:41

Ha ha- too funny Chester - I got a similar comment yesterday!!
My parents are already in town from abroad, and now the IL are coming down tomorrow baby or no baby. How's that for a bit of (albeit good intentions) pressure?! The IL are staying at a b&b - else I think it really would be too much - esp if they send me home while pessary works it's magic. Really don't fancy an audience!!!

Absolutely nada here - 24hrs til induction appt and it really seems that baby is waiting it out - I only hope that a pessary is enough and I don't end up needing pessary then gel then drip. Please no!!

Wonder if webminx has had her baby??

Hope your period pains lead to something Choco!

Katydive Fri 05-Jul-13 10:44:24

Hi all, gave birth to baby Mabel yesterday morning at 11.16 am after a four hour labour, be warned late ladies I went from 4cm to giving birth in 17 minutes, don't be fooled!

Good luck all xx

MrFranklyShankly Fri 05-Jul-13 10:57:01

Ohhh wow Katy, congratulations....that's just great news.....good news on the labour too, that's given me lots of hope! Enjoy your little bundle now...what weight was she??? Beautiful name to by the way....good on ya.

Underwood2013 Fri 05-Jul-13 11:50:34

Congrats Katy!!! I would love only 4 hrs! Thanks for the hope!!

tumbletumble Fri 05-Jul-13 13:48:03

Congratulations Katy! Thank you for sharing your lovely news. 17 minutes - wow!!!

Chesterado Fri 05-Jul-13 16:15:47

Congratulations Katy that fantastic and super quick too!

Have had another couples of hours of contractions here but they've gone away yet again!

Underwood2013 Fri 05-Jul-13 16:19:18

So Chester our race tomorrow may still be on...! ;-)

Mine isn't even pretending he wants to come out so far - no signs at all!

Chocomama1 Fri 05-Jul-13 16:35:48

Im 4/5s engaged so midwife just told me he is ready to come out now...any minute. So excited....

Chesterado Fri 05-Jul-13 16:57:48

Yep race tomorrow may well still be on. Having not slept much last night I almost don't want anything to happen now so I can try to get some sleep ahead of tomorrow. Easier said than done though with everything going through my mind.

Either way, great that Katy has kicked things off, but this thread still needs more babies (wonders if webminx has one yet...)

Underwood2013 Fri 05-Jul-13 17:19:27

Good luck choco!!

Keep me posted chester - hoping we both have some good news in the next day or so!!

webminx Fri 05-Jul-13 18:07:49

Baby webminx born today - long labour as his head was to one side (exactly like DS1!) but had wonderful community midwives who encouraged and supported me throughout so he was able to be born at home. Exhausted but delighted - he's a little smasher! Now if only he would latch on and eat SOMETHING! Congrats to all I've missed and best of luck to those still waiting! It'll be worth it in the end :-)

Chocomama1 Fri 05-Jul-13 18:07:52

I bet webminx is in labour as we speak!!

purpleaura Fri 05-Jul-13 18:12:17

Huge contrast webminx!!!

Chocomama1 Fri 05-Jul-13 18:15:19

Ahhhh so happy for you webminx and well done!!!!

tumbletumble Fri 05-Jul-13 19:09:51

Congratulations webminx, fab news! Hope he is feeding well now.

Chesterado Fri 05-Jul-13 19:14:40

Congratulations, so glad all ended well!

Underwood2013 Fri 05-Jul-13 19:58:10

Congrats webminx - fantastic news!!!!!

MrFranklyShankly Fri 05-Jul-13 20:13:29

Congrats webminx delighted you have it all over now and can enjoy your little man

Underwood2013 Sat 06-Jul-13 16:08:25

Update... Pessary in and back home waiting for it to work its magic... Having some light contractions but hoping it escalates else it's gel tomorrow morning...

Anyone else have any updates or happy news??

Chesterado Sat 06-Jul-13 20:08:43

We have another baby! He's a bit of a whopper at over 10lb but as far as the induction saga went it couldn't have gone better - contractions started really quickly and it was all over in a few hours. We even got to transfer to the midwife unit and have him in the pool. Can't quite believe he ever fitted inside me but he's absolutely gorgeous.

Hope it's all going well for you Underwood and lots of positivity to anyone else worried about being induced, it has all worked out ok for us in the end x

tumbletumble Sat 06-Jul-13 20:24:03

Another baby!! Congratulations chester, so glad that being induced was not too bad for you.

Chocomama1 Sat 06-Jul-13 20:31:20

Wow well done guys.... so pleased for you. How exciting...
feel like i'll be the last one left sad

Underwood2013 Sat 06-Jul-13 20:41:34

Congrats Chester - I am quite jealous!!! I am still in pessary mode with mild contractions... At home. Hoping it picks up over night...

Never fear Choco... I'm still here with you!

MrFranklyShankly Sat 06-Jul-13 21:52:14

Congrats Chester, delighted to hear another positive about induction and for quiet a big baba as well....well done you....enjoy all that lovely newborn stuff now congrats again x

Never worry choco I'd say I'll be the last to go....not due to be induced until next thurs :-( but have been having mild on/off contraction type pains all day....but I'm not storing much hope by it!

Good luck underwood, sounds like your next....at least your on the right path now hope it keeps up for you....will be waiting to hear ;-)

Underwood2013 Mon 08-Jul-13 06:43:01

Hey Choco & Frankly... I'm still here. Stayed in hospital overnight and have had two lots of gel... I think I must have the most stubborn cervix on the planet. Still not yet in labour. sad

Hope things are going better for others!!

webminx Tue 09-Jul-13 19:52:32

Congrats Chester! Wonderful news :-)
Fingers crossed for you Frankly and sending you lots of luck for progress soon Underwood!

MrFranklyShankly Tue 09-Jul-13 22:33:33

Hey ladies well my little woman arrived in the early hrs of yesterday morn!!! My waters broke on Sunday night and 2 hrs later our beautiful little lady arrived....dh just made it to the hospital in time!!! Underwood really hope things are happening for you as we speak....thanks ladies for all the support in the last few days. F x

tumbletumble Wed 10-Jul-13 07:31:13

Fantastic, well done Frankly on your little girl. What a brilliant speedy labour!

How's it going choco and underwood?

Chesterado Wed 10-Jul-13 13:25:38

Congratulations MrF, also hoping things have finally kicked off and going ok for Underwood.

What a difference a week makes, it seems ever so strange realising I was still pregnant this time last week!

Underwood2013 Wed 10-Jul-13 19:01:47

Hello all! Thanks for the positive thoughts...

It's been quite a ride... Cervix stayed stubborn! Since my last post a determined doc made his way 'up' to break my waters (OUCH) and gave me 2 hrs for the start of contractions else drip. Still nothing so they wanted to start the hormone drip. I demanded an epidural as I'd read / heard too much about the pain & speed of drip contractions. Another 2 hrs later my cervix STILL had not changed but baby's heart rate was slightly elevated.... So from there a very rapid succession of consultants came to review the situation and before I knew it I was signing consent for c-section. Fast forward about an hour and I was in recovery with a lovely (albeit surprisingly HUGE) baby boy.

Crazy overwhelming experience but the hospital staff were brilliant at all phases as was dh. DS was a whopping 11lbs 15 oz - so I think all this was his way of telling us that no way was he planning to exit via the natural channel!!! Although I did not want a c it was a blessing in disguise - he looks like a 3mo baby and I can't imagine pushing him out!

Sorry for the ramble but thought maybe some of you may want to hear the rest of the story!

Chesterado Wed 10-Jul-13 20:41:50

Wow Underworld that is just incredible (I thought mine was a whopper!). You must be very glad he is now safely here, it sounds like your body probably was trying to act in your best interests!

Did they have any clue he was so large? I'm musing over this at the moment as we were told all along to prepare for a big eg 9lb ish baby but at nearly ten and a half pounds its quite scary to think how lucky I was to avoid any complications really.

Hope you are enjoying lots of cuddles now!

Underwood2013 Thu 11-Jul-13 13:05:22

We / they knew he would be a good size... But we were thinking 9lbs... Certainly no indication that he would be nearly 12lbs!!! Everyone asking if I had the glucose test during pregnancy and they were surprised when I said a) yes and b) results were fine... Bump was measuring within normal ranges as well... So apart from my painful spd and horribly swollen legs / ankles /feet there wasn't much else to go on!

Really enjoying cuddles now... It is lovely. :-)
