Anyone used the Early Response test and got a result early?

Have popped over here from the Conception board.

Am in the 2ww and wondering whether to shell out on an Early Response test, has anyone used them and got a good early positive on them?

I know I should just be patient but I am addicted to POAS!

RobotElephant Thu 13-Jun-13 18:43:42

Get a Superdrug one, I got a positive 4 days early with one.

AliBingo Thu 13-Jun-13 18:45:34

Ooh ok will go and have a look, thanks. Are they meant to be more sensitive than most then, almost as much as the Early responses?

MrsO27 Thu 13-Jun-13 18:49:49

I had early response ones and didn't get a positive until I was actually late, everyone's different though. If you can hold out and wait it might be better as I found it disheartening seeing negative results.

jemimahpuddleduck Thu 13-Jun-13 18:51:12

I used first response and got bfp 5 days before AF due.

Fairy130389 Thu 13-Jun-13 18:55:14

I didn't get bfp until af was late with first response, even then it was so feint I didn't believe it!!

AliBingo Thu 13-Jun-13 18:56:58

Thanks for the replies.

Must try and resist buying First Response, they are way too expensive!

Have just ordered some Superdrug ones.

I should really learn to be patient, much cheaper!

RobotElephant Thu 13-Jun-13 18:58:10

Ali - I got a negative on a first response but a + with Superdrug. They are meant to be more sensitive, yes. They're also one of the cheapest smile

RobotElephant Thu 13-Jun-13 18:59:10

When is AF due?

AliBingo Thu 13-Jun-13 19:14:19

AF due either Sunday or Tuesday. The tests will not be here in time for this month but maybe next time. Or maybe I'll nip into town tomorrow for some, depends how obsessive I get!

starsandstripes72 Thu 13-Jun-13 19:31:50

I used the cheap ones a week before i was due and they came up negative. Used the early response one 5 days before i was due and it came up positive!!!

lucidlady Thu 13-Jun-13 19:38:28

I used Superdrug and got a positive almost a week early. That same day I tried Boots own brand and Internet cheapie - both of those came up negative.

plentyofsoap Thu 13-Jun-13 19:42:50

I went to Home Bargins and got the early pregnancy test there. It is about 90p for 2 and I got an early result. I did buy alot of them and kept checking!

IcouldstillbeJoseph Thu 13-Jun-13 19:48:24

I had a superdrug 2 pack - tested 2 days early and negative, then 2 days after AF due and BFP

RJM17 Thu 13-Jun-13 19:53:43

I got an early one with clear blue digital with the conception indicator x

Cavort Thu 13-Jun-13 21:37:36

I used a First Response and got a BFP at 12 DPO. A dark line appeared straight away so I'm guessing I could have got a BFP much earlier if I had tested. smile

AlmondFrangipani Thu 13-Jun-13 22:15:27

I used the First Response tests 12 DPO and got a positive. No other tests showed up positive until a few days later so I swear by them!!

I got a strong positive 5 days before period was due with first response. They were on offer in tescos grin

Good luck!

AliBingo Thu 13-Jun-13 22:36:33

Ohhh I really want a First Response test as well now!

BigBongTheory Thu 13-Jun-13 23:05:06

First response were negative early for me. Waited 48 hours and got a positive with clear blue.

BigBongTheory Thu 13-Jun-13 23:05:33

Negative at 12 dpo that was.

MrsHY1 Fri 14-Jun-13 08:27:47

I did a First Response at 14dpo (I know the timings exactly as it was a IVF embryo transfer) and the line was there but faint. I think if I'd have tested any earlier, it may not have shown up. I convinced myself this was a bad sign as I'd read so many stories about women who had got good lines at 10, 11, 12 dpo. I therefore thought it might be a chemical pregnancy. At 15dpo my blood test showed an HCG level of 142 which was very good so didn't seem to correlate with the faintness. I'm now 15 weeks pregnant. I've learned that every woman is different!

M0co Fri 14-Jun-13 08:43:59

I got a really light line with FR at 3 weeks but the strongest were actually Tesco's own £3.50 job!!

HotSoupDumpling Fri 14-Jun-13 08:54:13

Another one who got a very early indication (five days early) with the cheap superdrug pink line one.

notspringchicken Fri 14-Jun-13 09:44:49

Got a positive 3 days early with Clear Blue..

andadietcoke Fri 14-Jun-13 10:44:09

6 days early with FRER, but I'm having twins so that might be why - when I was pg with one and mc'ed I didn't get a BFP until the day AF was due.

MrsLianeB Fri 14-Jun-13 14:42:37

As I have PCOS my cycles can be longer or shorter, my last 4 cycles were 29 days, I got 3 -ves (different brands) days 28-30 got many +ves from day 37 when we went for our 1st scan thought we would be 8 weeks but we were only 6. As long as your cycles are regular and no gynae issues and you know when you ovulated I'd test on Sunday
Good Luck

AliBingo Sat 15-Jun-13 09:23:27

Thanks I will pop into town later and may buy some sticks for tomorrow...

moominlike Sat 15-Jun-13 09:51:43

I got my best line with a FR test (also tried tesco and superdrug - I had quite a collection!)

DehydratingManiac Sat 15-Jun-13 09:59:34

Ebay, 15 tests for £2 and they're as sensitive as Superdrug and First Response. I will never understand why people spend £££. Otherwise, Home Bargains and Poundland where it's obviously £1 or less for 2 tests, likewise v sensitive.

AliBingo Sat 15-Jun-13 13:13:20

I have some cheapies from Amazon but not sure how sensitive they are. I think I am a little obsessed! smile

islingtongirl Sat 15-Jun-13 13:23:27

I got a positive 2 days before period due with a first response. Also had cheapies from amazon which were supposed to be v sensitive and they didn't show a positive until I was about a week late (yes I kept POAS as I didn't believe I was pg!!)

suntodayplease Sat 15-Jun-13 18:39:00

I got a positive at 9dpo on one of those amazon cheapies, although i found the superdrug tests far more reassuring. Best of luck

tazmo Sat 15-Jun-13 21:19:15

I got a gray line on day 9 of 2 week wait and have had good success with them if you really can't wait!

AliBingo Mon 17-Jun-13 11:45:09

I tested yesterday with an Early Response and a Superdrug, and BFN! What a disappointment. But I now have a decent stash of tests to use in future and will hopefully get an early BFP on them sometime soon.

Ali, Im at the same stage.

Im due on tomorrow, but have been POAS every day for the last week with repeated bfns.

I have symptoms but they are prob my brain playing tricks.

On en route to Home Bargains in a sec to buy another 10 blush

Gunna be so gutted if I come on. Am checking my knickers constantly hmm

AliBingo Mon 17-Jun-13 11:55:04

I am the same, have been using cheapies, spotting symptoms, and analysing every twinge I feel in my stomach and just generally going crazy with it all, argh!

Good luck!

RobotElephant Mon 17-Jun-13 12:28:19

If you like POASing then the superdrug ovulation tests are quite good as well smile

AliBingo Mon 17-Jun-13 12:33:36

Lol thanks may try them as no idea if/when I O'ed!

Any news Ali?x

AliBingo Tue 18-Jun-13 10:01:52

Negative this morning, d'oh! AF due tmw so I think I am out. What a waste of money! Ho hum, there is always next month.

Why are you out?!
Im due today, and still getting bfn. Same as every day for the last week grin
Its not over until its over.

RobotElephant Tue 18-Jun-13 10:12:33

I know its really hard, but try not to test too much before AF is due. You're just torturing yourself, and it is quite unlikely that you'll get a positive much before.
(i know how hard it is, I've just spent the last 2 years doing it)

After I started doing the ov tests I made myself wait 2 full weeks after the positive ov test. - I often cracked a day or 2 beforehand though.

blueamber Tue 18-Jun-13 10:13:16

The lower the number of miu/L a test can detect the better. First response ones are 12.5 miu/L; superdrug 10 miu/L; clearblue I think 25 miu/L; internet cheap ones you can get at 10 miu/L as well. However, one of these internet ones showed a faint partial line with me when it should have been negative, so I don't trust those any more!

AliBingo Tue 18-Jun-13 10:27:37

Oh I figured if the sensitive tests weren't picking anything up then I'm almost certainly not pregnant. I think with DD I got a positive on a Tesco one the day before AF due.

I know, I am definitely torturing myself! smile I can't seem to help it. I was hopeful this morning as just one day before AF due.

I don't seem to get positive Ov tests (not done one for a while) so no idea when in cycle I Ov'ed - got negatives on sticks the month I fell with DD so I am sure I am doing it wrong!

I don't think my Internet cheapies are reliable either - lost a baby earlier this year and they were showing negative afterwards when other brands were still showing a BFP. Maybe I went too cheap on the cheapies!

AliBingo Tue 18-Jun-13 10:29:43

Oh and blueamber thanks for the info re concentrations - I noticed that FR didn't actually state their sensitivity on the packaging which makes me think it can't be that impressive, so it's interesting to know that Superdrug are in fact more sensitive.

RobotElephant Tue 18-Jun-13 10:54:52

Sorry,I didn't mean to tell you what to do,I just feel for you and know how hard it is . Good luck for next month.

AliBingo Tue 18-Jun-13 11:06:39

I need telling really! Thanks!

RobotElephant Tue 18-Jun-13 13:37:23

Get some ov tests and do then every day from about day 10 (not first morning wee though). Mark 2 weeks from + on calendar and try to wait until then to tests. Seems to make it easier somehow.

It was worth doing them for me because I didn't ov at the time I thought I would have done - it was several days later and we kept missing it.

AliBingo Tue 18-Jun-13 14:10:11

Thanks I will try that next cycle, I get confused what time of day to do them, I think the CB can be done with FMU? Whereas before I was trying at 2pm but not managing to be consistent plus kept drinking gallons of coke beforehand so probably made wee too dilute anyway.

So 14 DPO is safest time to test and have a BFP reliably show up? I guess that ties in with day of missed period for a lot of people.

RobotElephant Tue 18-Jun-13 14:14:15

I've not heard great things about the clearblue ov tests (and they're expensive), go with Superdrug again.

If you have a regular 28ish day cycle the 14 dpo will likely fit, yes.

AliBingo Tue 18-Jun-13 14:37:41

OK thanks I will try Superdrug again smile
