new Thread!

ChocolateCremeEggBag Tue 23-Apr-13 22:05:30

So I may have to join you in the no exercise club - Zumba with sore boobs was not fun! Just felt knackered and couldn't be arsed (already there with the no sex - just have no desire to do anything to risk disturbing the bean, plus still brown gunking)

DH (bless him) has just asked "how far along are we", "5-6 weeks", "oh really I though we were 3 weeks" hmm

ChocolateCremeEggBag Tue 23-Apr-13 22:08:00

Sorry just realised it's a crap thread title, does someone want to do another one?

JanieLovesCake Tue 23-Apr-13 22:09:32

Oh my DH was the same. We told his parents on Sunday and they asked how far on I was and he just stared at me as if to ask the same question! When I said 9wks he seemed quite shocked!!

I was boob poking earlier thinking they maybe weren't as sore as they should be...then came the speed bumps in the way home and booooom the ache! My arms are getting fat, might do some weights with tins if beans...surely they aren't too heavy?!

shellshock7 Tue 23-Apr-13 22:15:30

Thanks chocolate smile

Sssshhh but we didn't DTD until I was overdue with DS shock

pink scan is a week today, feel sick just thinking abt it sad

Bodicea Tue 23-Apr-13 22:18:30

Dh isn't getting much off me either. Mostly because the clexane kind of kills the mood every night. Only time we seem to manage it is in the afternoon at the weekend. Looking forward to our hol in a couple of weeks. Hopefully will get plenty of nookie in then. Poor dh -keeps dry humping me!!

jmf294 Tue 23-Apr-13 22:23:46

Yeah new thread!!
I made it to a new shiny thread. It was a goal of mine a few weeks ago to make it to the end of the last thread.

JanieLovesCake Tue 23-Apr-13 22:25:24

Heehee I was thinking the exact same thing jmf smile feeling so blessed that I'm still a graduate.

Aoifebelle Tue 23-Apr-13 22:31:10

I go away for a few days and you ladies decide to get down and dirty. I had a burst of friskiness after my last scan, the relief I think. OH now seems to regard me as a bizarre mix of sacred vessel for his offspring, and giant hard hot boobies that he wants to be having a go on all the time. Very confusing. I think if I didn't put out for 9 months I would end up a single mum! I would be lying if I said having relations didn't make me a bit anxious tho.

Still in Paris and have a day sight seing tomorrow. Also must find some roughage. The only fruit I have eaten has come on top of tarts and I don't think that counts. Have not pooed since Blighty. TMI??

Vixjane Tue 23-Apr-13 22:46:30

Hello all, wondered if i could join you over here? Pg at the moment after having mc in Aug and Dec last year. Currently 8+3 and this is the furthest i've got with a pg so keeping fingers crossed but stressing over every twinge!

Had to have a scan at 6+4 as had a bit of spotting and got to see our bun with a little heartbeat! got booking in appt on Friday so thats my next milestone.

Hope you are all well as can be x x

Bootyluscious Wed 24-Apr-13 05:27:34

Marking place smile

I had an early scan yesterday & saw a sac & yolk! No heartbeat yet but it's too early so booked again for a weeks time - fingers crossed

I am also debating exercise - want to do Body Pump & lots of people seem to carry on doing it whilst preg but a bit wary (& lazy) to do it just yet.....

Aoife - I think if you eat lots & lots of tarts that would be equal lots of fruit consumption grin

andadietcoke Wed 24-Apr-13 07:02:46

Yay booty that sounds promising. And not long to wait a week smile

Aoife a nice lyonnaise salad shouldn't be too hard to find in lovely Pareee?! I'm jealous. I love France.

Have a lovely day everyone grin

ChocolateCremeEggBag Wed 24-Apr-13 07:11:34

That's great Booty - are you paying privately or at the EPU? I am sorely tempted to book a scan as early as possible to see heartbeat but would mean going without DH and if it's bad new think i'll need him to get me home.
If you've been doing exercise regularly before, then should be ok to continue through early pg. but I'd probably go down in the weights you are using for Bodypump as you'll get more relaxin hormone coming on which softens your ligaments and you could stretch yourself more than you should. Especially with all those squats. Maybe go low weight and eventually just use the bar for those?
or give up and eat cake

Hi vixJane - you are vv welcome, impressed you found us with my vv crap/cryptic thread title.

Today I am pregnant! And also aching from Zumba last night

IBelieveInPink Wed 24-Apr-13 07:20:38

Ooh new thread. Yay.

Hey vix, congrats and welcome.

Yay booty for scan, whoop!

How are you doing today shell?

Vixjane Wed 24-Apr-13 07:41:21

Thanks for the welcome! chocolate i was going to post on the old thread but didn't get chance as we went away for the weekend and then spotted your new thread.

booty i'm alsothinking about exercise! I played roller derby before pg but am thinking about starting swimming as can't skate anymore (i've also had to be inventive with the excuses!) DH has offered to pay for a membership for local pool for me. Congrats on ypur scan and fingers crossed for next week!

shellshock7 Wed 24-Apr-13 09:35:29

Hi vix congrats and welcome smile

Good scan news booty hope your week goes quickly smile

Hey pink less obsessive today, am at work so don't have the luxury! It's a very good thing, give my poor brain a break from the stress! Still had a mini breakdown in the shower as boobs didn't feel as heavy and tummy looked a bit flatter confused How about you?

Pentagon Wed 24-Apr-13 09:49:43

Good morning ladies, nice to be on the new thread (choc I like the title, thanks for doing it!)

Vixjane congratulations and welcome! And booty great news on your scan, not long till the next one!

Bodicea good luck with your booking appointment today!

Aoif I hope you're enjoying Paris despite all the tempting food not allowed in pregnancy

Hi to everyone else!

Sorry for disappearing, I've been following the thread just didn't post - I've been sooooooooo stressed these past few days in the lead-up to my 12-week scan which was yesterday!! (at the Fetal Medicine Centre, the NHS one is today). All went well - both the scan and Harmony test results - and I can't describe how relieved and delighted I am. And it's the first time I'll go for a scan at my local hospital (later this morning) without shaking like a leaf! I guess I should calm down now but most probably I'll start stressing again by the weekend!

No boob growth for me but my bump is getting quite obvious so I guess I'll have to announce the pregnancy pretty soon (with DD I manager to hide it till 20 weeks - some people had noticed, most hadn't). Am I the only one whose husband/partner doesn't want to have sex because he finds it weird with me carrying his baby? ("sacred vessel for his offspring" grin love it Aoif!) Not that I mind - I'm not feeling particularly frisky at the mo and I'd too nervous to dtd even though I know it's safe!

Bootyluscious Wed 24-Apr-13 09:52:36

Thanks everybody, it was nice to see that things are moving ahead on schedule even if its very early smile

Choc - I'm an expat & have the scans under my medical insurance, they don't seem to mind how many you have which I'm sure is not going to be a good thing - don't want to end up there every week, plus its the internal dildo one so i don't want them thinking i have some sort of fetish hehe grin the best thing at this stage was knowing its not ectopic as I'd been getting a couple of sharp proddy stabs. Thanks for the advice re Body Pump, I had no idea re the ligaments so will definitely go a bit lighter when (if) I start! smile

Welcome Vix - I've never heard of roller derby?! It sounds very energetic grin

andadietcoke Wed 24-Apr-13 10:40:42

23 hours and 50 minutes to go. This morning I've managed to convince myself I'm in pre term labour. I need slapping - even if I am there's nothing I can do about it. I just don't know how to tell the difference between BH, normal twin growing pains and PTL contractions. Argh.

Lucky13ForBaby Wed 24-Apr-13 11:24:27

Hi all,
Just popping in to mark my place. I can't believe that we have finished another thread! All the exercise talk is making me feel lazy! Am missing my Zumba as stopped after ovulation on the month I conceived due to previous miscarriages. The most exercise I seem to be doing is lifting my arm to press the buttons on the remote or to fill my mouth with carby, stodgy rubbish! I need to get walking or something!
So this afternoon I am off to my booking in midwife appointment! Am actually quite petrified as it feels such a big step in the right direction. Further to fall I suppose if it all goes wrong after here. I have also booked a private Nuchal scan for May 11th in the Midlands for £175.

Welcome to all the newbies. Sorry I get too confused to name check everyone. Gives me a headache on my phone!

Bodicea Wed 24-Apr-13 12:01:38

Hi lucky. I have booking too today. Mine is at 5:15 and despite what people have said I think will still drag dh as he only works round corner from hospital so he can come after work. So it's no big stretch for him - even if he is bored rigid. Are you taking yours ?

vicks we have matching mc history. Mine were in August and December too. Welcome to the thread. Your in good company xxx

I have slacked off excercise a bit. Still been playing badminton every week except last night as feel rotten with a cold but been a bit slack on the Zumba mostly coz I can't be bothered at mo not because I think it's dangerous. My philosophy is if its a good healthy bean it will stick around whatever you do. Most mcs are due to chromosome problems/ implantation problems or poss in my case - but I am doubtful - blood clotting problems x

JanieLovesCake Wed 24-Apr-13 12:30:36

Hi all, eek good luck with the scans and booking ins ladies! I made DH come with me, but mainly as mine included a scan and he wanted to be there. The rest was boring for him in the waiting room but I was glad he was there so I had someone to smile with when things were ok smile

I have my mum ringing round all the private places this morning to price the nt scan for us, DH and I are both in busy offices so never get a chance for a personal call. Although I've obviously convinced myself that this is a jinx and ill pay out loads if money and there won't be anything to see

I've booked in to get the flu jab on Friday morning, has anyone else had it? Any pain, is it in your arm, does it make you sick? 20 questions!!

JanieLovesCake Wed 24-Apr-13 12:32:14

Oh and hi vix!! Congrats!!!

shellshock7 Wed 24-Apr-13 12:58:52

Hi pentagon that's fab news, made up for you smile

Hope you're ok anda one more sleepless sleep and you'll be there x

Enjoy booking in....all that blood to be taken shock grin

janie I have flu jab at wrk every year, it's fine just achey arm sometimes smile

Mega meltdown, having period type pains...had to take some paracetamol (dissolvable as I think taking a tab would make me vom hmm) I'm so worried, gonna try the Doppler tonight in the very slight hope it might put my mind at rest confused

IBelieveInPink Wed 24-Apr-13 13:04:10

Oh shell, can you call a midwife maybe? If pains that bad maybe they will see you? My friend has offered me her dopplar, I don't know whether to risk using it?
I am equally still stressy pants today. Busy at work though which is helping, but DH is away tonight so looks like an evening of freaking out for me!

Pentagon - congrats! Into the safe zone, Yaay!

Janie - flu jab is fine, slight achy arm, nothing compared to pregnancy cramps!

shellshock7 Wed 24-Apr-13 13:11:22

I know it sounds mad, but I couldn't handle goin for a scan now....all I can think of is when I was told abt the MMC and I just can't face that hmm If the pain is bad tomorrow and the Doppler doesn't work I will prob have to face up to it thoconfused

Sorry you're stressing too...this is so awful we just need to get to the 12w scan...NOW!

Bodicea Wed 24-Apr-13 13:25:24

Oh shell how many weeks are you. Don't use the Doppler, most midwives struggle to get a heartbeat before 16 weeks. It will just upset you more, either that or you will get your own artery. Ring the epau xx

andadietcoke Wed 24-Apr-13 13:26:35

shell and ibip please consider whether the Doppler will help - even at 16w the mw told me she might not be able to find a heartbeat and not to be upset.

shell for what it's worth, I've had period cramps the whole way through. No blood means everything is probably fine, and blood normally comes before pain. Drink lots of water (or squash if you can't stomach water) to stay hydrated as mine are worse when I'm dehydrated. Hugs xx

IBelieveInPink Wed 24-Apr-13 13:39:11

Oh diet, that is interesting about the water, thank you for that.

Luckily my friend whose dopplar I am borrowing is far more sensible than I am, and will not give me the dopplar yet! She has point blank refused- which is probably for the best smile

My friend who has just had her 12 week scan confirmed that 10 week cramps were the worst, so maybe is quite normal. Argh the stress!

BumpKitty Wed 24-Apr-13 13:48:53

Hola new thread smile
I'll join the freak out if I may, last night I had very weird spasms just under my ribs on the rhs, so obvs thought the baby had broken out of my womb and had made it'd way to my ribs ( despite the fact I'd be improbably dead if that happened!) role on scan next week...

No exercise here I'm far too tired, and mainly no sex either. Also just not feeling like it much...

BumpKitty Wed 24-Apr-13 13:50:06

Pentagon Wed 24-Apr-13 14:23:34

Thanks for the congrats ladies!! I'm sure I'll start worrying again soon, I'm seriously thinking of getting a doppler (I don't know how I will get through the next couple of months until I can feel the baby move) but my DH is against it as he thinks it will stress me more than reassure me...and he could be right!

shell please don't worry too much, it's probably because your uterus is expanding. I know everyone's body is different but with my 2 missed miscarriages I didn't feel any pain whatsover while with my 2 healthy pregnancies I have - these past few weeks I have actually found it reassuring to feel some pain. Good luck with the doppler tonight!

Pentagon Wed 24-Apr-13 14:29:05

shell I agree with your friend, I also had period-like pains when I was 10 weeks

And I guess everyone's right about the doppler so probably better if you don't try it just yet (and I'm not getting one!)

Vixjane Wed 24-Apr-13 15:17:14

pentagon congrats on the 12 week milestone!

It's all sounding a bit real with booking appts here today and scan countdowns!

booty roller derby is an american contact sport on roller skates, really good fun but not good for the bun!

shell i've been having jabbing pains yesterday and today so you're not alone.

Off work today as it seems i've developed vertigo - i feel like i'm out to sea with the room moving around me confused anyone else suffered with this?

shellshock7 Wed 24-Apr-13 15:29:16

Sorry to be all me me me, it's just so all encompassing isn't it hmm

Re the Doppler....it worked with DS from 11 ish weeks I think...and I know to count the BPM to tell if it's me or the baby. I also don't think if I can't find it it will makes things worse (they can't be!), but if I can it will DEFO make it feel better so am gonna try...sorry everyone blush

anda I only drink hot and cold water in work so am good like that! It may be constipation tho, as even when I've been I don't feel like I have (TMI!) iyswim

Good to hear (but sorry too) other people having the cramps...it was always gonna be a tough time approaching the 12w scan cos of the MMC, just gotta hope all is ok till then...paracetamol have done the trick anyway smile

GardenWorm Wed 24-Apr-13 15:40:42

Not sure if it's helpful but I'll put it out there for those feeling twinges/pain....when I had my scan at 8+1 she saw a luteal cyst on my left ovary, sonographer said it's a hormonal thing and usually disappears on its own (often before 12 wks) but it could cause pain in that area. I'd never heard of it so thought I'd share!

JanieLovesCake Wed 24-Apr-13 15:43:14

Aw shell I hope you're doing ok, and if you can't have a me me me moment here then where can you have it. We're all here to help each other through the worries and fears. As everyone has already said, it's probably normal twinges at this stage.

Vix I've had crazy vertigo, it's bloody awful. I seem to have had it instead of puking, seems worse when I'm in bed and roll over too quickly and in the shower I'm holding in to the walls. Hope it clears up soon (my dad had it last week so maybe there's a bit of a bug going about...I'm pretty sure he's not pg ha!)

IBelieveInPink Wed 24-Apr-13 15:44:28

Oh my goodness. Okay. I think i know where my cramps are coming from. Is anyone else getting the bloating?! Last 3 days I have puffed up like I am 6 months every afternoon! How do I make it stop?! Ouchie!!!

(on the plus side - yay symptom!!!)

Vixjane Wed 24-Apr-13 16:45:33

pink have you tried fybogel sachets? Powder sachets you mix with water and drink as fast as you can i don't think they're very pleasant but they do the job! Other sugg would be to try and up your water intake.

janie glad someone else has had it. Have you had it long and does it go quickly? We went to London at the weekend and i'm sure the drive and tube journeys have contributed to it!

DIYandEatCake Wed 24-Apr-13 17:26:48

Hi again everyone, this thread moves fast! Loving the good news and shell, hang in there, not long til your scan now? Hope the pains ease up. garden that's interesting, when I panicked about sharp pains early on and the gp sent me to the hospital for a scan, they found a luteal cyst too and free fluid, but didn't mention that could have caused the pain.

No news here except nausea worsening - yay! Had to have a lie down earlier as feeling so rough but I am so glad to have some symptoms (had none with mc but did with dd so choosing to see it as a good sign). Had a horrible mc dream last night too, remember someone else mentioning that not long ago. Early scan on Friday (follow up to the one I had at 5.5 weeks, as too early to see much then), so keeping everything crossed. Am very lucky to get that, think it's thanks to the lovely nurse in the epu.

ChocolateCremeEggBag Wed 24-Apr-13 17:51:26

Evening all, nothing much to report here. No brown gunk though.

Booty am vv jealous of your many scans, I would keep going for them as long as they are prepared to scan you if I were you.

I have had cysts on my ovary before when not pg, had not thought about them while pg, but makes sense that could be reason for niggly pains.

jmf294 Wed 24-Apr-13 18:38:17

Ahh slightly freaking out here.
I got home to a letter for my booking in appointment tomorrow morning!! I will be 7+ 2 tomorrow and last time that's the exact day I started to bleed and I went to the booking in appointment last time.
Feeling less nauseous so panicking, keep prodding boobs to check they are sore. Don't like this uncertainty and anxiety at all!!!

Good luck to dietcoke and DIY having your scans.
IBIP- I have to eat all bran or bran flakes every morning which helps.
Pentagon- I am going to the FMC next Friday for a scan, I've heard it is brilliant so I glad all is well with you.
Shell- big virtual hugs, I wish all this worry and anxiety could go away for us all.
Hi to everyone else!!

andadietcoke Wed 24-Apr-13 18:50:56

So, I'm at maternity triage. I started spotting this afternoon. So far so good with two heartbeats, but waiting to see the doctor.

I found drinking fruit and barley really helped with the constipation/bloating. I couldn't stomach water at the time so it was a coincidence, but it seemed to work.

jmf294 Wed 24-Apr-13 18:53:19

Hope all is ok andadietcoke.
In my last successful pregnancy I bled at 10 weeks and then had quite a big bleed at 23 and 26 weeks.
How many weeks are you now?

BlackholesAndRevelations Wed 24-Apr-13 18:54:55

Evening all! Hope everyone's well. Yes to boosting though I'm only 5 weeks so god knows what I'll be like later! (positive!!)

Friend who had mmc has an early scan today for her new pregnancy. Everything crossed for her, can't imagine how she must be feeling right now.

I am tempted but we can't afford £100 for a private scan sad

IBelieveInPink Wed 24-Apr-13 18:55:30

Oh diet you poor love. How horrid. Glad 2 heartbeats obviously but you must have been in a state. Are you okay? thanks

BlackholesAndRevelations Wed 24-Apr-13 18:57:11

Oh gosh massive cross post. anda- how scary! Glad botg babies are ok though xxx

I'm another one who used fybogel when pg with son. It worked but I made sure I glugged loads of water straight after having it. Yuk!

MooMoi Wed 24-Apr-13 19:02:09

2 heart beats is great and you're in the right place. Crossing fingers for you now.

BlackholesAndRevelations Wed 24-Apr-13 19:04:29

shell- how is the cramping? Hope it's eased now. I agree with maybe phoning a midwife. How many weeks are you?

pentagon - congrats on the fab scan! grin

andadietcoke Wed 24-Apr-13 19:05:42

Thank you all, feel a little bit less alone now (DH is awful in situations like this - we're both just sat messing on our phones).

jmf am 20+1. It really wasn't very much spotting, and was brown, but combined with the pain it was enough to freak me out. ibip yep, was in quite a state, especially as I had to come home driving past the hospital to get my green notes. They're living in the car from now on.

Most concerned that I might have an incompetent cervix or similar but the mw acted like it had never occurred to her which is a relief I guess. Will ask the doctor when they turn up.

Aoifebelle Wed 24-Apr-13 19:27:46

Good to hear you are feeling reassured dietcoke. One thing. Can we start a campaign to change the language around pregnancy and.childbirth. I mean, incompetent cervix, blighted ovum, molar pregnancy. These terms were so not coined by women.

DIYandEatCake Wed 24-Apr-13 19:31:01

Oh anda you poor thing that must have felt awful to see. So glad there are 2 heartbeats and that you'll be checked out soon, fingers crossed all is ok. flowers

shellshock7 Wed 24-Apr-13 19:50:21

anda hope you're coping ok....very reassuring to see the heartbeats, really hope it's nothing to worry abt but hope you can rest up for a few days now and give yourself a break. Thinking of you x

shellshock7 Wed 24-Apr-13 20:05:37

Totally TMI but I think we all need a bit of light relief today....I just stood up and did the loudest longest fanny fart in the history of woman blushblushblush. Don't think I've ever done one before but that was surely some sort of world record, luckily I'm on my own! grin

IBelieveInPink Wed 24-Apr-13 20:22:11

Lol shell. That made me laugh out loud. smile

BumpKitty Wed 24-Apr-13 20:26:49

ha ha shell i just quickly checked the time of your post to see if you were at work when it happened! Can you imagine! Pg is so glamorous smile

anda what did the doc say? x

I'm now paranoid that I'm not cramping sad I'm sure I used to be sane

shellshock7 Wed 24-Apr-13 20:30:17

Doing it loads as I walk around blush Is it a symptom?!

Oh bump we are all temporarily crazy right now!!

andadietcoke Wed 24-Apr-13 20:53:45

shell that's awesome. Kudos.

bump I told you this would happen!!!! [smug]

Back home now - cervix long and closed. Bleeding caused by a cervical erosion. Very common in multiples and likely to get worse as the pregnancy progresses but at least I know not to panic now. At least I'll have a better nights sleep than I might have done otherwise!

Ps you're all lovely xxx

shellshock7 Wed 24-Apr-13 20:56:33

Phew anda and relax! That is brill news very very pleased grin

shellshock7 Wed 24-Apr-13 20:57:12

And tomorrow you will hopefully find out what you are having, awesome smile

BumpKitty Wed 24-Apr-13 21:08:14

oh ace news anda, well erosion doesn't sound fun but ykwim and yes you did tell me, I'm a lost cause

JanieLovesCake Wed 24-Apr-13 21:20:15

Oh anda I'm so pleased you got an answer, and a positive one at that. I've just been speed reading through today's posts so sorry if I didn't catch everything.
Shell I just burst out laughing at your fanny fart!!!! Thank god you were alone ha!! And fair play to you for sharing!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well, I'm just back from watching the new Ryan gosling movie...my god he's gorgeous envy

IBelieveInPink Wed 24-Apr-13 21:21:39

Oh yay diet, now you can hopefully enjoy tomorrow a little more?

Also- please tell me 'erosion' is not as horrific as it sounds?!

JanieLovesCake Wed 24-Apr-13 21:31:55

Just told DH that my jeans were feeling a bit tighter than normal, thinking ooh exciting, maybe it's a wee baby bump happening for real. His answer, 'yeah you've put on weight'.
Thanks DH, you know how to make me feel like shit
Actually I only weigh 1lb more than I did 5 weeks ago sad

andadietcoke Wed 24-Apr-13 21:32:14

ibip I don't know - for once, I'm not googling!!! My sister is my nominated proxy googler and she says 1 in 10 women suffer with it due to esterogen levels. Not dangerous and not associated with any complications.

GaryBuseysTeeth Wed 24-Apr-13 21:38:50

Welcome Vix! I had crazy vertigo in the early weeks.

Pentagon, congrats on the good scan results! We didn't tell the world until after my 20wk scan.
Booty, congrats on your scan too!

Re. Pg sex...there is nothing less unappealing then feeling the product of an earlier bonking session punching you in the stomach whilst you're, urm, shagging. I dislike pregnant sex, DH dislikes sleeping next to me & being kicked in the back by stomach squatter.
I use the doppler whenever I haven't felt movements for a while, but DS stopped moving a few times & I am terribly paranoid about the same happening again with this one...which is why when you all get more pregnant I shall nag & nag & nag about Count The Kicks.

anda, sorry I wasn't here to <handhold> earlier, glad everything is ok for you!

shell, you're proper classy! grin

Keeping everything crossed for a positive tomorrow jmf, I started my mc an hour after my booking appointment so am with you on the 'aaaaah shiiittttt!' panic about it.

DIY, yay! So glad you're feeling sick...long may it continue!

Janie, flu jab didn't hurt or cause any sideeffects in me.

<wave> to everyone I haven't nc-ed, hope you're all achey boobed & sick right now.
As much as I love being pregnant, it is not compatible with comfort on hot sticky days...fingers crossed we have a British summer & less days like today! <melts>

BlackholesAndRevelations Wed 24-Apr-13 21:47:18

Yay Anda! great news. Exciting that your scan is tomorrow, double yay!

shell - pardon you! gringringrin

Pentagon Wed 24-Apr-13 21:57:25

anda I'm sorry you had such a fright today, glad all is well now!

shell I hope you're feeling better!

jmf the FMC is brilliant indeed - my 10-week scan was quite thorough but the 12-week one yesterday was amazing: it lasted more than 20 min, they checked everything about the baby and patiently explained it to me.

It still hasn't sunk in that I've made it to 12 weeks...thank you all for your nice words!

andadietcoke Wed 24-Apr-13 22:08:51

pentagon I completely missed that - congratulations! Massive milestone to tick off. So pleased for you grin

Vixjane Wed 24-Apr-13 22:09:51

Glad you got some good news anda hopefully you'll get some rest tonight.

gary glad to that i'm not suffering alone with the vertigo and other people had it. Think i might have to go back into work tomorrow but don't really want to!

Good luck for tomorrow jmf

MissLolita Wed 24-Apr-13 22:14:40

Hi everyone, just marking my place. I've been lurking quietly smile
Shell stay calm! Hello to new people and lovely to keep hearing good news smile xxx

andadietcoke Wed 24-Apr-13 22:17:15

Oh Vix I feel for you. DH has been off work for two weeks already with labyrinthitis/vertigo. It's utterly miserable. Motion sickness tablets were recommended to him by a GP friend - a brand called stugeron. They're OTC but don't know if they're safe in pregnancy. Hope it passes soon.

JanieLovesCake Wed 24-Apr-13 22:20:00

Pentagon I totally missed that too!! I'm doing a ribena berry 'woop' jump for you! And everyone else with good scan news smile

Vix sorry I forgot to answer...my vertigo has definitely got a bit better, much worse about 3 wks ago and now I mostly get in when I roll over in bed in the morning and get up. If its really bad you can get signed off for a few days as it really is nasty and way worse than just a dizzy spell. You probably feel a bit nauseous with it but as far as I know you just gave to ride it out. There are tablets you can take but not sure if they're safe in pg (betahistine) but I found they take a few days to kick in (I took them before being pg) and usually it's gone by then. Fx you feel better soon, but don't feel guilty for taking the rest if the week off if you're feeling awful x

shellshock7 Wed 24-Apr-13 23:18:01

janie tell him baby bump has nothing to do with weight gain...I have quite a big bump and weigh less than before I was PG

Good news, we found the heart beat grin. Thought I did earlier but it was very fleeting but sounded faster than my own, so just tried again when bursting for the loo and got it...140 BPM, going to bed happy after a totally shit day smile

Hope you're relaxed now anda and thanks to everyone for getting me thru today, you really helped me not lose it at work x

Pentagon Wed 24-Apr-13 23:42:47

oh shell that's wonderful, you must be so relieved! You can now have a good night's sleep!

GardenWorm Thu 25-Apr-13 06:18:46

Sounds like yesterday was full of good news all round in the end-YEY! Anda I hope secretive must be a boy twin behaves today and you are able to find out their sex! Someone else had a booking in today with a mc milestone but I can't remember who, sorry! Hope it goes well and know the feeling the same happened to me last time which is why I will probably get told off on Friday for leaving my booking in appt until nearly 10wks. Oh and someone else broke the Guiness Book of Records record for loudest fanny fart. Respect. grin

MooMoi Thu 25-Apr-13 07:31:39

Morning all, finding out that things here worked out well is a lovely way to start the day smile

Someone mentioned that they get cramps when walking - snap! My late for work walk has got quite interesting recently. I'm telling myself that it's totally normal smile

My booking in appointment isn't until 11 weeks - hoo hum.

Here's hoping we all have a good day

andadietcoke Thu 25-Apr-13 07:47:37

shell that's brilliant and doesn't make me want one at all, oh no I'm so pleased you're reassured.

jmf hope today passes with event and the worst thing that happens is going through that sodding green notes book. Will be thinking of you xx

IBelieveInPink Thu 25-Apr-13 08:05:57

Shell! That's fab!! So pleased, must be suh a weight off your mind. You can enjoy it now! Now I want a dopplar....... Maybe will start nagging lovely friend again who tried to make me resist.....

JanieLovesCake Thu 25-Apr-13 08:10:49

Yay shell!!! That's brilliant!! Delighted you're mind is at rest now smile

Fx for the scans today!!

GaryBuseysTeeth Thu 25-Apr-13 08:49:50

Shell, excellent news! Tis lovely being able to find hb by yourself!

Moo, I've been waking at night with horrendous, need to walk them off, calf cramps. Oh pregnancy, you are so glamorous.

Garden grin I have visions of nervous pg ladies across the land attempting to out fanny-fart each other, if we ever have a meetup it shall be our secret greeting!

Thinking of you both today jmf & anda

JanieLovesCake Thu 25-Apr-13 09:07:42

Haahaaaa!!! Gary that just made me laugh out loud at my desk!! Like the freemasons, but different!!

shellshock7 Thu 25-Apr-13 11:06:20

What a difference a day makes, much happier today smile

Good luck anda can't wait to hear your news!

Ha ha gary that's funny...but I'm hoping its all over for me now and never to be repeated!!

andadietcoke Thu 25-Apr-13 12:00:52

It's two girls don't tell my mum, I haven't told her yet

Three lifetime memberships to the fannymasons club please grin

GaryBuseysTeeth Thu 25-Apr-13 12:07:51

Fannymasons! I think we have our next thread title (and judging by the speed we filled the last one it won't be long).

Congrats on your two little girls anda!! grin

Vixjane Thu 25-Apr-13 12:09:07

Congrats anda!!

Thanks for the advice re vertigo, decided to stay at home today to see how it went.

shell good news on finding the heartbeat!

shellshock7 Thu 25-Apr-13 12:19:05

Wow! Congrats anda gringringrin Now comes the hard bit of choosing names shock ha ha

IBelieveInPink Thu 25-Apr-13 12:20:22

Awww two girls? How lovely! That's so lovely diet, are you excited now? Surely can relax a little smile

Lucky13ForBaby Thu 25-Apr-13 12:39:19

Sorry for the me post but am scared. Having bad on off pain low in my left abdomen. Had me doubled over before. It's like a stabbing pain. I'm not constipated as went earlier today. Am 91/2 weeks. Anyone had anything similar.

BumpKitty Thu 25-Apr-13 12:45:42

lucky call the epu, they will either reassure you or get you in for a scan. Hope it's stopped now x

anda that is so lovely little twinnie girls grin so.... Are you going to start shopping yet? And, how was the scan, was one still being all tucked up? X

andadietcoke Thu 25-Apr-13 12:53:20

Lucky that's what we're here for - me posts. Invariably someone else has had it before, or they will in the future so it's not meme at all.

Even if you're not constipated it could be trapped wind. Lie on your left side with a pillow under your legs. Massage your tummy and see if it helps. I constantly get stabby pains, and this always helps. However, ring the EPU. They will reassure you, or ask you to pop in. Either way you'll feel like progress is being made. Let us know how you get on. It may even be early round ligament pain. Hugs xx

bump it was a good scan and at the moment I feel quite positive, but then I also wonder how long that will last!! So maybe not shopping, but definitely list making and price comparisoning grin

Vixjane Thu 25-Apr-13 12:54:10

lucky i've been having those since tuesday, from wht dr google and others have said if there's no blood then it will prob be stretching (i'm almost 9 weeks). Mine has eased off now but does play on my mind. if you're worried or it very bad contact the epu as bump suggest. If nothing else it will put your mind at rest x x

DIYandEatCake Thu 25-Apr-13 13:10:08

lucky I agree with bump, call your epu (or gp if you have to be referred by them). My pains at 5 weeks were like you describe, feeling like having to double over, no reason was found though and they went after a few days. But gp and epu were great, I got checked over and scanned and have a follow up scan tomorrow.

anda that's wonderful, so glad all is well smile

I am still nauseous and grumpy - yay! - feel like lying in bed with magazines but 2yo dd has other ideas. I'm feeling mean as I have less patience with her fussing and tantrums at the moment, she is just doing what toddlers do and it's not her fault I feel rough.

Pentagon Thu 25-Apr-13 13:18:51

anda congratulations!! How lovely!!

lucky I agree, you'd better call epu, hopefully it's nothing to worry about (it shouldn't be) I've also had stabbing pains in the last couple of weeks...

JanieLovesCake Thu 25-Apr-13 13:36:51

Oh anda that's just fab!! I'm imagining 2 wee toddlers with pigtails smile

Lucky so sorry you're feeling so crampy, I would defo give the gp or epu a shout just so you can get some reassurance. Fx honey xxxx

stitchinline Thu 25-Apr-13 14:01:12

Well I’m back, driving myself completely potty with all the freaking out. Only 5 weeks and totally barmy, I just feel like I’m waiting for it all to go wrong.
Lovely to see you here shellshock, glad the Doppler is working, can’t wait to get mine out and be able to reassure myself whenever I want
I was trying to work out if I fitted any threads so when I saw shellshock on here I thought that this was the best place for me. I had 2 MC then had DD in March 2012, was just starting to think about another and well here I am shock. I think that is why I’m so sure this will go wrong – it was so quick compared with the 12 months to get pg with DD.

shellshock7 Thu 25-Apr-13 14:11:38

lucky how you feeling now? Have you called EPU?

stitch hello grin Just filled up seeing your name, such memories of last time congratulations smile It's lovely here, everyone helps each other a lot smile Really hope things go smoothly for you x

How is your DD? Can you believe we're back here again already?!

GardenWorm Thu 25-Apr-13 14:27:14

Anda pink ones are just fab (may be slightly biased as I have a crazy pink toddler!). Lovely smiley, happy news, congratulations!

Lucky I hope your pains were wind and have buggered off to leave you a little bit calmer?

....getting poohed off with this constipation malarky. Enough now, let me pooh as free as a bird!

GardenWorm Thu 25-Apr-13 14:29:04

Oh and sorry, how rude : Hello Stitch!!!!

JanieLovesCake Thu 25-Apr-13 14:32:46

Hi stitch smile congrats!!

Garden be careful what you wish for, I had the runs most of last week and couldn't be anywhere more than 10ft from a toilet..when you gotta go you GOTTA go shock

stitchinline Thu 25-Apr-13 14:40:43

Thanks for the welcome thanks
DD is great, a happy, cheeky, gorgeous girl with her daddy wrapped around her little finger! We love her to bits and are so thankful everyday that she arrived safe and well. Making me all teary too just thinking about what we went through.
Am so bloated, stomach looks like I did at 5 months pg, afternoons are the worst!

Pentagon Thu 25-Apr-13 15:22:31

welcome stitch! Congratulations and all the best for your pregnancy!

JanieLovesCake Thu 25-Apr-13 17:41:01

Lucky how are you? Did you call the epu? Xx

Bodicea Thu 25-Apr-13 18:34:38

Hello stitch, nice to hear from someone who had a happy ending x

Had a scan today, 10w6d by scan. Actual wriggly baby. And had booking day before I which I was given half a rainforest in booklets! So feeling like this is actually happening now for real.
Got my maternity leggings in the post when I got back. They are awesome - from jojomamanbebe - so dont have to worry about leggings falling down all the time - highly reccomend especially if you are getting a bump already like me. I should add whenever I put weight on it goes straight to my waist - classic apple - so I really do look pregnant already!!

Wearing them out tonight to see Sean Locke x

AmberSocks Thu 25-Apr-13 18:43:45

hi can i join?

i am 6+5 with number 5!my children are 5,4,3 and 6 months, was not plannig another one so soon, but it seems the midwife was right ad breastfeedig on its own really isnt a reliable form of contraception :-)

anyway,we are very happy, was planning more somewhere along the line so its just a bit sooner than expected!

ChocolateCremeEggBag Thu 25-Apr-13 18:44:53

Anda - that's lovely news, did you get the sonographer to write it down or just find out there and then?

hi Stitch (waves)

lucky could be a cyst on your ovary? I think they are quite common in early pg, but usually go before 12 weeks ( but not always) Bodicea am I right or talking bollocks?
Anyway hope you've had some comfort from calling EPU?

ChocolateCremeEggBag Thu 25-Apr-13 18:46:39

Wow Ambersocks - congratulations and welcome.

IBelieveInPink Thu 25-Apr-13 18:47:52

Oh bod that's so exciting! It must feel real now, I heard after 10 weeks if you see wriggles etc, chances of bad things go down to less than 1%. That's amazing, so exited for you!

Lucky - hope you are doing okay!

Diet- what did your DH and mum have to say about the girly bundle? smile

Dopplar is on way over later tonight. I am very very aware that I may hear nothing at all, and that THAT IS OKAY. I am purely doing this because if I can hear anything it will make me relax more (just putting this in so I can re-read later when panicking!)
Any tips from anyone who has used before?

ChocolateCremeEggBag Thu 25-Apr-13 18:48:42

Oops Bodicea missed your post - great news re the scan, must be such a relief. I still have soooo long to wait.

Bodicea Thu 25-Apr-13 18:52:11

Corpus luteal cysts normal and look after pregnancy hormones in early stages. They are the follicle that you would have ovulated from that didn't collapse when you got pregnant if you get what I mean. They can be a bit tender.

Bodicea Thu 25-Apr-13 18:58:09

Pink - I have only used medical ones that aren't related to pregnancy so not sure if they are they same but you get a better signal with them at an angle. No Doppler signal 90s to probe -works on the principle that sound has to be moving to or from prob - is Doppler effect - ambulance changing sound as moves to or from you x

Bodicea Thu 25-Apr-13 18:58:46

Sorry 90 degrees

JanieLovesCake Thu 25-Apr-13 19:12:11

oh bod that's just brilliant!! delighted for you! smile enjoy sean locke!

pink good luck with the doppler! hope you can hear something, and if not just yet, hope you're ok with that too. remember it's super early

ambersocks congrats and welcome!! fair play to ya girly on your 5th!!!

chocolate when is your scan date? my next one is 31st may which is soooooooo long away and i'll (hopefully) be 14 weeks then. defo going to get a private one at 12 weeks to do the NT scan...best price i could get was £189 but they're booked out, next best £225 (gulp). my mum offered to pay for it but it's a lot to take from her so i migh try to scrape it together myself unless she really insists.

in other news, i found out one of my really close friends is due exactly the same day as me!!! she lives in england (i'm in ireland) and she emailed to say that she had an announcement, that they were buying a house. i obviously had to out-do her and tell her i was pg - she rang instantly to say she was too!!!! so excited!! she's had a tough time too so i'm so delighted for her, just wish we were closer to share the fun!

i'm watching the voice on catch up and i'm crying my eyes out. dunno why...must be a touch emotional today ha! luckily at home alone!!

shellshock7 Thu 25-Apr-13 19:42:43

Hey stitch am the same with DS, so happy he's here, worth all the heartache smile Have you got any plans re early scans etc?

Congrats bod that's great news grin What a relief!

Hi amber congrats and welcome smile

pink take your own pulse first (I time for 15secs then x by 4) so you know what that speed is. Have a full to bursting bladder and angle deep down low in your pelvis and if you think you hear a heart beat, time that so you can confirm its not your own pulse...be patient, don't stress and good luck smile

andadietcoke Thu 25-Apr-13 20:01:21

Hi stitch and amber congratulations!

bod yay! I had a scan around then and they look like 'proper' babies. So glad everything's going well. And I have a newfound respect for sonographers today - you must have the patience of a saint doing anomaly scans!

ibip I'm quite a lot excited for you. My mum looked horrified at lunchtime when I mentioned I was contemplating getting one - she says it would make me neurotic! But I know how much hearing them last night calmed me...

We didn't get the sonographer to write it down in the end - lots of people told me they wouldn't do it at my hospital and we just got to the point where we wanted to know! Because we've all thought it was two girls my mum wasn't really much of an audience. DH has also had dreams so was perhaps more prepared than he would have been otherwise.

Off to start my spreadsheet list grin

DIYandEatCake Thu 25-Apr-13 20:48:18

lucky how are you? Hope you're ok and no more pains.
bodicea that's brilliant news, must feel wonderful to have seen your baby. Are you having another scan at 12w or is that it til 20w now?

Hi stitch and ambersocks

I have my follow up scan tomorrow to see if there's a heartbeat - will be 7+1 - am feeling unusually positive for me (!) thanks to the recent nausea and headaches but am still nervous about it and know I will be so gutted if it's gone wrong again. My milestone's approaching - 7+6 last time - so if I'm still here next week I'll be ecstatic! smile

BumpKitty Thu 25-Apr-13 21:08:00

ibip have a look on YouTube there is bound to be a video of someone with a Doppler smile and good luck
anda I think a Doppler might be a bit stressful with twins, can you hear both heartbeats at the same time? Sorry if that's a daft question! And I am ridiculously excited about your spreadsheet, it would be so much fun to plan a nursery for twin girls.
bod ace news on your scan, very pleased for you
diy good luck for tomorrow smile remember your lucky socks!

It's my booking in appt tomorrow, I'm not looking forward to it, luckily they do them at your house here so I will have DH for support.

Hi stitch and amber and other newbie (cant scroll back to last page!) welcome aboard

IBelieveInPink Thu 25-Apr-13 21:09:52

Boom be doomp be boom be doomp be boom be doomp. smile
To anyone who is not as mental as me and therefore does not understand, that is what bebbys heartbeat sounds like smile yaaaaaaaay!

andadietcoke Thu 25-Apr-13 21:12:59

DIY good luck tomorrow. Will be a massive relief to get through a scan and a milestone. Everything crossed.

Bump I like admin! You have to listen to the heartbeats separately, so find one and then the other. I think of want to get one of the dopplers with the digital read out so I'd be able to tell the difference. Not in any hurry - will see if I'm going to have a consultant appt at 24w as that would be a good interim check between now and next scan at 28w.

GardenWorm Thu 25-Apr-13 21:23:05

Nice one IBIP (think I could hear it from here!) and fab news Bod I'm off to check out those leggings. Lush!

shellshock7 Thu 25-Apr-13 21:24:55

Ace pink what a great sound hey smile Now you have to try not to get obsessed with it wink

JanieLovesCake Thu 25-Apr-13 21:24:57

yipppppeeeeee ibip woop de woop de woop de woop!!!!!!!

good luck tomorrow diy x

DIYandEatCake Thu 25-Apr-13 21:30:36

Woop ibip! That's really early to find a heartbeat. You are going to be tempting us all to try it now...
Off to find some lucky socks. And will definitely be stroking my lucky tomato plants before I leave (they are still thriving, that has to be a good sign, no?)
bump good luck for tomorrow, it will seem very real when you have stacks of leaflets!

DIYandEatCake Thu 25-Apr-13 21:32:54

Thanks everyone. I would be far crazier without this wonderful thread, love you all!

Vixjane Thu 25-Apr-13 21:33:08

Hi stitch and amber. Congratulations!

Congrats on the scan bod!!

janie thats amazing that you and your friend are due on the same day. Its the one thing i'm really feeling at the mo is i have no one in RL that is going through this as well. Hoping to meet some people in similar situation as i start classes etc.

Fingers crossed for you tomorrow diy

Got my booking in appt tomorrow afternoon so looking forward to that (well looking forward to getting theball rolling for 12 week scan)

BumpKitty Thu 25-Apr-13 21:33:44

Huge real life grin for you ibip

IBelieveInPink Thu 25-Apr-13 21:45:05

Aww thanks ladies. Don't know what I would do without you. You honestly keep me sane at the moment emosh moment
Good luck everyone with appointments/scans tomorrow. See it as one step closer....

jmf294 Thu 25-Apr-13 22:14:22

Well I got through my day that I MC last time and the booking in appointment was fine, lots of booklets and actually got to keep my notes- just flicking through them tonight and saw where the labour bit goes- yikes!! I will ask for a c-sec though as I have had 2 already.

Great news all round today ladies.
Andadietcoke - lovely news, prepare to embrace pink and pretty dresses! And by the way I love the bugaboo donkey!!!!
Good news on your scan Bod- congrats!!
Hi Amber- you will have to let us know how you manage life with 4 children as I am slightly worried about managing 3.
DIY- hope the scan goes well tomorrow.
Bump and Vix- hope your appointments go well
Janie- lovely news that you can share pregnancy with your friend.
IBIP- whoop whoop
Shell - hope you are feeling happier.
Hi stitch
Chocolate- when is your scan ? Hope it comes round soon.
Hello to anyone I have missed smile
Lets hope we get some graduates tomorrow on fertile Friday!!

Bodicea Thu 25-Apr-13 22:23:07

anda - missed the twin girl news! How exciting. Congrats x

Ibip - well done for hb - although still don't approve of dopplers wink

andadietcoke Thu 25-Apr-13 22:39:38

Yay jmf - glad you got through today. And the donkey was at the top of the spreadsheet wink

And ibip envy that's brilliant!!

Lots of love and luck to everyone with scans/booking ins tomorrow. Also hoping for new graduates - have been stalking them a bit this week!!

Pentagon Fri 26-Apr-13 00:13:55

Bod congrats on the great scan and ibip on finding the heartbeat! Yay for both of you!

Amber congrats and welcome to this thread!

DIY good luck tomorrow (and the same to everyone else with scans/booking ins)

Zeuxippe Fri 26-Apr-13 06:48:17

Hi everyone! Great to hear the scan news bod and anda. Two girls, wow! Good luck to diy today!

I've reached the 7+0 stage today, yay! And am off to tell my GP I'm up duffed this afternoon (and beg her for an early scan on the NHS). What are the chances?

IBelieveInPink Fri 26-Apr-13 07:06:21

Morning zeux. Really depends where you live. Mind were having none of it, so be prepared to outline how much stress you under etc. I know some places are better than others though. Good luck!

andadietcoke Fri 26-Apr-13 07:15:20

Zeux congratulations on getting to 7 weeks -for me that was a big milestone grin

I think it depends on the GP and the EPU. Is your local EPU self referral or not? If it is, then you could always ring them regardless of what the GP says and beg

DIY good luck today xx

ChocolateCremeEggBag Fri 26-Apr-13 07:22:50

Good morning, I think we have at least one graduate today from Fertile Friday.

Jmf & Janie - I haven't booked an early scan yet. I'm 6.5weeks today going off LMP, but my BFP took a few days to show, so I'm not convinced I'm that far on. DH is then away from Sun 5May to Sun 12th, so not sure whether to risk a scan on the 4th when it could be too early (would be 7.6 weeks at best) Otherwise have to wait until the 18th of May when we are both free to go. I keep checking availability on their website like a mad thing.

shellshock7 Fri 26-Apr-13 08:38:54

Good luck today DIY a good scan should mean you pass your milestone a bit easier smile

bod I found I preferred normal
leggings to maternity ones last time, sat under the bump instead of rolling down it! I suppose it might depend on how big you are? Will hopefully go JoJo shopping tho after scan, love their maternity work dresses and only have winter ones from last time wink

Enjoy booking in vix smile

jmf great passing that milestone grin Is that your last one now, just looking forward to 12w scan?

Hope you get an early scan zeux I didn't but my GP got my 12w scan at the earliest possible date which helped smile

So, my body just changed over night, my bump has gone nuclear, really big, hard and heavy feels like Im carrying something in there wink And same up top! Had to dig out an old big shirt to wear for work today, look a mess but only one more work day before the scan to get thru. After hearing the HB I'm really getting hopeful for Tuesday but then you think don't get ahead of yourself, as pink would say 4d 5h 24m to go grin

BumpKitty Fri 26-Apr-13 09:12:50

choc I know it's hard but I'd wait if I was you, from what I've seen on here its just too stressful to have an early one that doesn't show much and you'll see so much more if you are over 9 weeks. But saying all of that I know the waiting is torture!

Pentagon Fri 26-Apr-13 10:52:09

arrrghhh, I've just written a post and lost it!!! OK, here we go again...

zeup it's worth having a look here to see if your local EPU accepts self-referrals at all (but you'd probably know if they did):

It really depends on the GP, some are more sympathetic than others. Mine sent me straightaway when pregnant with DD after having a missed miscarriage and this time, after my 2nd missed miscarriage, I didn't even have to ask, she phoned them when she sent me to the loo for a urine sample! She's lovely, bless her! Good luck, I hope you get one!

choc if you can wait, it's better to have one at 8 or 9 weeks - 9 preferably as by then all the major organs are formed (if I'm not mistaken, Bodicea had better confirm) and the risk of miscarriage decreases considerably.

GaryBuseysTeeth Fri 26-Apr-13 11:04:23

Welcome stich & amber!
Congrats on the scan & booking appoint Bod, you pregnant lady you! grin and enjoy Sean Locke tonight!

Good luck DIY!

Good luck in getting an early scan Zeux, well done on 7wks today!

Congrats to your friend Janie, how wonderful to have someone in real life to share it with.

<pompoms> JMF, well done on getting through the appointment!

Any exciting plans for the weekend?

Lucky13ForBaby Fri 26-Apr-13 11:12:15

Morning all. Am sat at the Drs again! My 2nd home these days. Going to ask her about the pains I had yest and got to unfortunately get signed back on at work. Totally dreading it as have to support other people and am struggling to support myself right now! Will have to see how it goes I guess. My booking in is now next Tuesday as when I went this week they just took bloods and asked about domestic violence. Glad DH didn't have the day off work! With regards to a scan I had one at 7 weeks and for various reasons I only measured 5+ and no heartbeat. Had an agonising 15 days then went back for a re scan to see a heart beat and dated nearly 9 weeks. In my case the early scan caused a lot of worry and heartache. Those extra few weeks make a big difference! Sorry to hear some of you have had a worrying time this week but glad all is ok. Lol at the fanny farts! Please let me not have those smile

GardenWorm Fri 26-Apr-13 11:44:00

Good to hear from you Lucky take it the pains went away? Hope you have helpful Dr who can put you mind a little more at rest. I always find that when I don't want to go into work because it's crap/stressfull etc, it's never as bad as what I thought it would be when I actually get there. Bit like Sunday night when you were at school iykwim!

Having said that I've just left work early so I can go to my booking in appt so today was officially a good day at work!

Aoifebelle Fri 26-Apr-13 13:23:50

Wow, such alot of news in a couple of days. Lucky it is fantastic to see the little heart beating away. That first scan I had was awful. I asked the GP and she said - yeah you will see a heart beat and the limbs. I went and there was an empty sac - just a void with nothing visible in there. So glad they took my HcG levels otherwise the two week wait to be rescanned would have totally done my nut in. Sorry that work is so stressful for you at the mo. I am quite lucky I can generally hide when I need to. I can't imaging having to be supportive to others right now. I can barely tie my shoelace.

Pentagon, Bod & IBIPwell done on your milestones. You all sound on really good form.

Zeux this is really really naughty (Bod turn away now) and perhaps tempting fate, but you could say you are getting cramps - they might scan you then.

I am also looking for a bit of advice ladies. I have booked in for the harmony test on 13th May, 12 week scan and results on the 24th may. This is the day before I go on holiday with my OH, sister and three nieces. Do I a) get the results before I go or b) delay getting the results until I get back
If I get good news will be the best holiday ever, but if less good news then could ruin the week for all. Really don't know what to do.

DIYandEatCake Fri 26-Apr-13 14:37:29

I'd get the results if it were me, but you know yourself best, would you be able to put it out of your mind for the holiday or would you keep thinking about it? Is there any reason you're high risk (is it a test for chromosomal abnormalities?)

Just back from my scan, there is a 9mm long little baby in there with a heartbeat! Eeeeeeep! They dated it at 6+6 which I guess is spot on as I have 30 day cycles and usually ov on day 16. So so relieved. Trying to contain my excitement a bit, dp is distinctly underwhelmed and is more stressing than excited (at the prospect of having another baby). Think it may be time to tell our parents now, I know they'll be excited too.

JanieLovesCake Fri 26-Apr-13 14:41:23

Aaah DIY I'm delighted for you!!! Congratulations gringringrin that's great that they were able to see the heartbeat even with you being quite early!!! Bet you had a wave of relief!! My DH still doesn't mention it much, I think he's a bit more worried too (and we don't have any kids yet!)

Lucky good to hear from you, hope your doctor was reassuring xxx

JanieLovesCake Fri 26-Apr-13 14:42:32

Oh and Aoife I would defo get the results if it was me...no way could I sleep or be out if the country without knowing!!!

BumpKitty Fri 26-Apr-13 15:08:07

aoife i would get the results, I couldn't cope with knowing they were there ready to be read.

diy that's brilliant smile hope you have a lovely weekend of not worrying!

janie i don't think it's very real for the DHs yet, mine started reading up about labour (on his iphone) whilst I was actually giving birth grin

Right, had my booking in. My midwife is super lovely which is great as I never got on with my one in my first pg. I did have a good cry because I had to say about my mum dying in January but at least I won't have to do that again. She didn't take my bloods as I'll have them taken on Monday when I have my 12 week scan. Good things about it being at home - I could nip off to my own bathroom to wee in the tube. Bad things - the dog widdling on the floor in front of the midwife blush

Aoifebelle Fri 26-Apr-13 15:22:12

Woo Hoo DIY. Another heartbeat to add to the list. Fantastic news.
Bump I had no idea MWs did house visits. I don't think I could be arsed to tidy up! At least you didn't widdle on the floor.

Thanks for the advice all. The test will give me pretty definitive results for chromosomal abnormalities. Going for it as a) I am a bit old (38) and b) after MC don't want to be faced with the amnio choice if I get a higher than comfortable risk of abnormality. If you do the harmony test at 10 weeks it costs £180 and the results give a much more precise indication of risk than the nuchal plus bloods. The cost rockets after week 10 to nearer £600.

Will think on.

Pentagon Fri 26-Apr-13 16:01:49

Congrats DIY! Now you can enjoy the weekend! Plenty of good news lately, hooray!

Aoif, I would definitely get the results before the holiday otherwise I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it. Chances are your results will be fine anyway! You’re going to the FMC, aren’t you? That’s where I had it done too because same as you, I wanted to do it early and know early (especially since it is at such a great price) rather than wait till I’m 14-15 weeks get a bad or average result from the combined test, freak out and pay a fortune for the Harmony then. I am 35yrs old but a close family member had a baby with Downs syndrome about a year ago and my DH is terrified ...he was up for having an amnio no matter what the combined test result. Thank goodness we found out about the Harmony test!

AmberSocks Fri 26-Apr-13 16:44:53

jmf-everyone asks how i cope with 4,im not sure what the answer is really!I just do.
I did find going from 2-3 difficult, but my first 3 were in 2 years, and it got really hard once the youngest was toddling about as i had 3 toddlers and they were all quite mischievous!3-4 has been a doddle,so hopefully it will be the same this time.

i am only just under 7 weeks so wont be contacting the midwife yet, will probably wait til im at least ten weeks, thats what ive done the last 3 times. im still i contact with my midwife from last time,i had the same one all the way through and she did my home birth too so ill book in with her,i dont think she will be expecting to see me again so soon!hopefully she can do home visits like last time!

stitchinline Fri 26-Apr-13 17:26:25

Lots of lovely scan news!

I'm still undecided about when to have first scan, I am unsure of exact dates as my cycles post breast feeding hadn't really settled into a pattern so I don't want to get it done too early as not seeing anything would completely mess with me. I keep looking at dates and going no I better not get it done then as that is just before X and if its bad news then..... So need to be more positive! Will prob try to wait til about 8/9 weeks... Going to try not to be as much of a scan addict as I was last time around.
Hope you all have lovely weekends.

BlackholesAndRevelations Fri 26-Apr-13 18:05:52

Great news about all the scans! I think we'll probably wait til 12 weeks. Hopefully a much lower risk then. Felt so unbelievably sick today though, which I'm taking as a positive!

I'm sorry again I'm on my phone and can't check back. lucky- hope all is ok. Welcome Amber- I will be having my third too (all going well) so tips on how to cope well received nearer the time! Have you had any losses?

BlackholesAndRevelations Fri 26-Apr-13 18:08:53

Aoife- I'd get results too, would not be able to relax at all on the holiday otherwise.

DIY amazing news on your 9 mm baby with heartbeat!! Bless it smile I wonder if I keep to my resolve of waiting til 12 weeks or not.........

AmberSocks Fri 26-Apr-13 19:15:23

Hi black holes,no ive not had any losses luckily. Is this thread for people who have previously mc?sorry if it is i didnt know.

AmberSocks Fri 26-Apr-13 19:22:19

Hi black holes,no ive not had any losses luckily. Is this thread for people who have previously mc?sorry if it is i didnt know.

BlackholesAndRevelations Fri 26-Apr-13 19:30:10

Yes it is but you're still welcome of course! Everyone wants to know what it's like to have five kids! flowers

Aoifebelle Fri 26-Apr-13 19:30:28

Hi Amber and welcome. The old thread made it a bit clearer that this was set up for ladies who have a had a MC. I don't think this is meant to be exclusive, but you may experience a higher than average degree of anxiety / general mentalness in here, but there is also great support available.

Vixjane Fri 26-Apr-13 19:42:26

Evening all,

Sorry for the quick read and run, am preparing for 30 th birthday party for tomorrow and having guests stay as well for the weekend!

Congrats on scans, milestones and booking appts today. DIY great news on the heartbeat!

Had my booking appt this aft and she was really lovely. Got my next appt with her om 20 May where she visits us at home and then 12 weeks scan on 21 May ( i'll be 12w 3d then). Feels a lifetime away!!

Aoifebelle Fri 26-Apr-13 20:40:37

Sweet Jesus I feel like a beached whale that someone has taken a bicycle pump to. I am soooooo bloated. Just managed to get some dinner into me, now I am trumping out of both ends and have developed a really attractive kind of inside out burp that make me sound like a frog searching for a mate.oh thinks it is very funny indeed,I am less amused. This pregnancy stuff is not glam in any way. Bring on the bloom.

BumpKitty Fri 26-Apr-13 20:58:08

vix Happy Birthday!!! i was pg with DD on my 30th, twas lovely - we played rounders. Bit weird not drinking but you can make up for it next year smile

aoife ha ha hilarious, I think i waited 41 weeks to bloom last time (still waiting). I blame any particularly bad smells on the dog or the toddler grin

IBelieveInPink Sat 27-Apr-13 09:58:59

Happy birthday vix!

Aoife- I feel your pain. I have had the bloating. Seems to be worse some days than others. Not found anything that helps yet- nightmare!

JanieLovesCake Sat 27-Apr-13 10:04:31

Happy birthday vix!! Hope you have a lovely weekend grin

We're heading out tonight for dh's birthday, going to be difficult to pretend not to drink... I'm actually feeling a bit sick this morning, hoping morning sickness isn't kicking in just as I thought I'd escaped it

IBelieveInPink Sat 27-Apr-13 10:09:07

Janie- is it a byo restaurant? Can you try the byo weight watchers wine trick?
My friend actually got through the whole of her dh's birthday, by just holding a glasses of prosecco. They were out in a bar though, so she moved around groups regularly so no one got too suspicious.

andadietcoke Sat 27-Apr-13 10:16:47

Happy birthday Vix!

Janie I suggest one of the following...
- you had too much to drink last night so taking it easy tonight. May also explain away feeling a bit crap
- it's DH's birthday so you're on designated driver service
- cradle one drink all night and drink lots of water
- talk to the waiter beforehand and say that whenever you order, for example, vodka and orange, you just want the orange. Sniff before you take your first sip and if they mess up slip it to DH. This can go wrong on many levels though!!
- antibiotics. But that seems to be almost as good as announcing you're pg!!

Have a lovely evening. Once they've had a few drinks no one will even pay attention to what you're drinking.

JanieLovesCake Sat 27-Apr-13 10:23:50

Aw thanks girls, you're so lovely smile fab ideas. It's not byo sadly (although I did pass the weight watchers wine trick on to my pg buddy! Still genius!) they do jam jar cocktails so I might work out a non alco version and stick to it!! To be honest I'm pretty sure people will start asking soon as I'm driving every time we go out and would never have done that before!! Got a wedding next weekend do might tell a couple if people then, I'm not paying £25 in a taxi each way when I could just drive!!

IBelieveInPink Sat 27-Apr-13 14:46:42

Argh! I'm away with one of my friends who doesn't know, managed to keep it quiet so far, but have stayed up super late last night, had to eat runny egg this morning, and been stood up so long I now have strong cramps! And I can't even make excuses because she doesnt know! Waaah!!!

andadietcoke Sat 27-Apr-13 15:01:03

ibip I had runny egg on toast for breakfast. As long as the whites are cooked and it was lion stamped you'll be fine. For cramps - drinking lots of water seems to help me, and don't be scared of taking paracetamol too!

IBelieveInPink Sat 27-Apr-13 15:34:23

Thanks diet. Always there when I am having a crisis! Will drink lots of water smile

jmf294 Sat 27-Apr-13 15:40:57

Happy birthday Vix- hope you have a lovely weekend.

Janie- it's a hard one pretending to drink alcohol, but hopefully after a few drinks everyone else will be too tipsy to notice.

IBIP- hope the cramps go and they say eggs are safe, I love eggs but when I feel nauseous I couldn't eat them.

Aoife- I'm in the bloating club too- it's horrid, last night I felt like I had a football in my stomach!!

Andadietcoke - how is the list making going- are they going to share a cot?
Hello everyone else- hope you are all having a nice weekend.

Having a quiet day at home, feeling so tired and fed up of feeling nauseous all day, I shouldn't complain but it's yuck and was never this bad the last 2 times. 6 days till scan at the FMC!!

shellshock7 Sat 27-Apr-13 15:44:30

Yes take paracetamol, that got me thru 'black Wednesday' smile till I used the doppler

andadietcoke Sat 27-Apr-13 16:39:44

Oh shell! It's daft isn't it - paracetamol absolutely fine to take in moderation and yet despite all the pain I've only been driven to it twice!

ibip I'm only always here because I have no life at the moment but am saving lots of money

jmf I'm such a geek. I found the Windows for Mac Excel wedding budget template which has a countdown and everything. DH (who clearly works in the public sector) has insisted on three quotes for everything (he was joking but I'm so doing it!). I've finished the 'travel' sheet and am on to 'sleeping'. Oh that makes me sound like such a loser, but see previous comment about having no life, and am also chained to the computer as the company website went down for 1.5 hours around lunchtime so am scared to leave the house in case it happens again (I have access to email enquiries and am on the management team so can bitch slap IT into sorting it out if necessary). After that little rant, to answer your question, we've been given two Moses baskets but love the idea of them sleeping together. Maybe a travel cot with a mid-level base for next to the bed? No idea...

jmf294 Sat 27-Apr-13 17:23:19

Strongly recommend sleeping bags as soon as your girls are big enough andadietcoke!! Some of the bags start at 8lbs and before that swaddling blankets are brilliant for keeping arms down and stopping them from jerking themselves awake!!
How exciting!!! You should be able to get some god discounts as you will be buying so much.

Bodicea Sat 27-Apr-13 17:35:16

Hello people,

Drama drama. Husband set off on road trip to other end of country to buy me a more sensible practical car today. Yes I know it's ridiculously soon but mine is a convertible and start of summer is when you get the best price so was gonna sell it now what ever stage of pregnancy/lack of pregnancy I was at. Anyway he is on his way back with a completely different car -( different make, saloon rather than estate) to the one he set out to get and from a private seller instead of a dealer. arrgh! Just wrung me from services to tell me there is a teeny little problem with it but don't worry! Arrgh! this is why I didn't want to buy from private seller!!!

andadietcoke Sat 27-Apr-13 17:48:03

Oh bod I'm sorry, but that made me giggle. I can't wait to hear what the 'teeny little problem' is!! Shall we have a sweepstake?! My money's on it being a bizarre colour and/or missing something fairly essential!

jmf yep, grobags are on the list grin

jmf294 Sat 27-Apr-13 17:57:17

Oh God Bod- I would be going ballistic but that's because I'm a control freak and my husband is a terrible shopper!
Hope it's only a minor issue and a lovely car.

Aoifebelle Sat 27-Apr-13 19:04:11

Oh dear bod you got the "darling, slight problem, nothing to worry about but ..." call. I am betting it has a fleece lined steering wheel, a 10 year collection of magic trees and he has just found the latest copy of dogging weekly in the glove box.

Bodicea Sat 27-Apr-13 23:24:24

Panic over. Think it just hadn't had a good run in ages. Kicked out load of crap and started driving normally again. Still gonna send it to garage for good check over - but stuck with it now whatever. I haven't been much interested in getting new car been as bit depressed about getting rid of my lovely convertible. Husband is a car bore and has been researching it for ages and loves that kind of stuff so left him to it - only stipulation was it had to be automatic and newer than current car, if only by a year. Took my beautiful car for a valet and drove home with roof down in the sun. Putting in autotrader tommorrow. Sniff sad

IBelieveInPink Sun 28-Apr-13 07:23:46

Aw bod I can sympathise, my DH is also car crazy. Only difference is I would never be allowed a convertsble, he makes all the car decisions any anything I like he seems to dislike in the extreme!

11 weeks today. Actually beginning to feel like this might happen. Of course this thought also scares me (doesn't everything?!)

Hows everyone's weekends going?
Shell - you -11 weeks too right? How you feeling?
Janie- how was DH birthday?
Vix- how was your birthday?

Zeuxippe Sun 28-Apr-13 07:32:07

vix hope you had a lovely birthday and the party went well!

bod glad to hear dh hasn't messed up re car - sorry you're having to say goodbye to the glamorous convertible though, sounds lovely!

ibip have those cramps gone now? Hope you are ok x

Well, no joy with getting an early scan through the GP on Friday. In fact I didn't even ask because it was the dreadful woman I had to deal with over the phone at the end of January when I started to mc. She was really cold and cutting, disagreed with my dates and even went on about how likely it was I would have another mc this time. Came home quite upset. Anyway, today i am pregnant and she's referred me to a midwife at least.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

BlackholesAndRevelations Sun 28-Apr-13 08:24:54

Zeux- that's terrible! I'm Horrified that she said you have a possibility of mc again! Seriously make a complaint about her. I'm glad you're feeling positive today!

Bod- I wish my dp was into cars! He hasn't got the first idea which means I always have to ask my dad if I have car issues. Sad to wave bye to the convertible but... It's for a good reason! smile

vix- hope you had a lovely birthday, I too was pg on my 30th and it passed by quite uneventfully but that was fine by me!

Happy weekends everyone x

andadietcoke Sun 28-Apr-13 09:05:44

Zeux that's awful. Put your stubborn hat on and prove her wrong!!

ibip 11 weeks?! Blinking heck, that's gone quickly - for me, probably not for you! After seeing a heartbeat, it's massively in your favour everything will be alright though you know?! should take her own advice

Bod I feel your pain. I've got to get rid of my beloved beetle. It's only 2-door and not practical with twins getting car seats in and out. Would have persevered with one but I think two would wreck my back and the boot isn't big enough for a twin buggy (neither is our front door, but that's a different story!). DH is going to drive it until I go back to work and we need two 4-door cars so I have it for a little while longer yet!

Bodicea Sun 28-Apr-13 09:26:18

diet your front door comment made me chuckle! Gosh you have so many things to think about with twins.

Bodicea Sun 28-Apr-13 09:31:56

I had my convertible before I met dh. It's like a symbol of my young carefree life in my twenties. Now am in my thirties living in the burbs with a sensible car! Obviously I am much happier now than I've ever been but letting car go feels like ending of my youth a little bit! Will get over it

JanieLovesCake Sun 28-Apr-13 10:02:55

oh bod you poor thing sad you should put a framed photo of it on your mantlepiece

last night went fine - thanks ibip, and thanks to everyone for the tips smile i managed to ask for the cocktails without any booze in them, and the barman gave me my first one free! and only charged me 2 quid thereafter! so i'll be back there!! it then clicked that another friend wasn't drinking either and she seemed a bit under the weather and she asked could she have a chat with me. she told me that she was on antidepressants and she wasn't allowed to drink and she was so fed up with people questioning why she wasn't drinking...so i came clean and secretly told her i was pg and i would be her sober buddy - we're both at the same wedding next week so we can be each others shield.

i'm going to try to make a birthday cake for DH today....just remembered i better not try the raw batter mix

hope you all have a lovely sunday, and good luck with the front door anda!

IBelieveInPink Sun 28-Apr-13 11:34:30

Zeux- what a horrid gp! How nasty! If you feel you can manage it something really should be said, so she doesn't do it to others, but I know I wouldn't manage it!
And thanks, yes the cramps have calmed down. I think I was just really tired and had been stood up to long! I am officially a lame pg person!

Diet- I know! It's funny, you getting to 20 weeks seems quick to me, but I bet every day has dragged! Same with me, looking back it seems quick, but actually going through it feels like forever!

JanieLovesCake Sun 28-Apr-13 14:02:40

god zeux i totally missed your post about your gp. that's horrific. there's a doctor t my practice who i will refuse to go to after the treatment he gave (or didn't give) on 3 occasions. if you have it in you to write a letter of complaint then i would encourage you to do so. i regret not doing it after my experiences but i just didn't have the energy to do it last time. perhaps dh/dp might do it on your behalf?

JanieLovesCake Sun 28-Apr-13 14:04:34

ibip and anda i know how you feel. i'm shocked that i'll be 10 weeks tomorrow... double figures doesn't seem real at all. and although the days feel like years, all of a sudden we are where we are and things are good!!! i still remmeber getting the 1-2 on the cb digi like it was yesterday

Zeuxippe Sun 28-Apr-13 16:25:48

Thanks everyone. The GP isn't a permanent doctor at the practice, so don't think I'm going to complain for that reason. Going to make sure I never deal with her again though!! and diet, that was my reaction too, that I'll damn well show her how wrong she is by carrying to term this time!!

Hope everyone's having a good day today

Hello there can i join, very nervous and trying to be excited as i got my bfp 2days ago!!
Had a miscarriage in feb, and trying to be optimistic my little bean will stay sticky.

andadietcoke Sun 28-Apr-13 16:59:29

Hi pumpkin congratulations! We're mostly bundles of nerves so you're in good company. Take every day as it comes and don't stress about aches and pains - I can almost guarantee you'll come on here and at least one person will have experienced exactly the same smile

Higg Sun 28-Apr-13 19:54:42

Hi everyone,
Hope your all having a good weekend, Hope everybody is well and little beans a ok too, ive been following everyone but I've had lots of thing going off bubba making me feel dreadfull nausea 24-7 and so tired but I've had to have2 emergency scans been having cramps which were making me double over but on both scan bubba had a very strong heat beat and doing a little jig, I've got my 12 week scan in a week and half can't wait to see him/her again, one my first E scan after I was told all was ok before I saw the screen the first thing I said was " please tell me there's only one in there" don't think I could have coped with the thought of twins again not after loosing the boys.

ChocolateCremeEggBag Sun 28-Apr-13 20:31:25

Hello all. Back from weekend with friends. Was lovely, but I ended up carrying DS a lot today (forgot pushchair) and started to get "tight womb" feeling. Not exactly cramps, but not comfortable either. Ibip - glad yours have gone
We went out on Friday and Saturday night which was lovely but am now knackered!
Have decided to book in scan for May 18th when I should be 9 weeks, thanks fr the advice everyone, better to wait to (hopefully) see more

Sorry if I miss anyone:
Janie - well done with the not drinking, feel bad for your friend, it must be awful to have people assume you are pg when you are really not and trying to get yourself out from under shitty depression cloud.

Zeux - GP sounds a right bitch, makes you wonder what her motivation was to go into that vs another less patient facing.

Pumpkin - welcome and congratulations!

Bod - I had my sights on a Daihatsu Copen when I first met DH, he convinced me out of it and has been such a regret of mine. We now live in the sticks and now need a 4x4 for at least 3 months of the year to get out so not ever likely to get one until I retire (whenever the hell that will be -70? 75?)

Lucky13ForBaby Sun 28-Apr-13 20:33:50

Hi all. Welcome pumpkin. Hogg I have been having dou le over cramps too last week . Maybe it is normal after all. Totally freaked me a d gp would t refer for scan. Thought I'd just wait it out. Was meant to be going to Wales in a few weeks but be ause of the measles epidemic we not going to risk it. Have booked a holiday to menorca instead! Very excited at the prospect of sunshine and beach! DS keeps asking to go on a plane too smile may distract me a little! I have reached the 10 week mark today! Feel rough as and keep heaving! DS can't understand what I'm doing! I'm not a very fun mummy right now! Back to work 2mor. Got to face the long commute trying not to vom on lap!

WillSantaComeAgain Mon 29-Apr-13 10:25:30

<<Dipping toes into the water very cautiously>>

<< waves nervously at the ladies I knew from the TTC thread>>

Hello all, - BFP on Friday, and now having a complete nervous rollercoaster of emotions. I think I may revert to denial that I'm actually pg. I've had two MMCs in the past nine months (one found at the 12 week scan, the other at an 8wk scan that the MW advised me to lie to the EPAU to get). At the moment I'm just hoping for a bean as both the last two were anembryonic. Once I have a bean I'll start hoping for a sticky one!!

So, early scans? Anyone managed to convince their GPs to get them one?

shellshock7 Mon 29-Apr-13 10:48:24

Sorry been AWOL (PIL drama, they only had to week 3 more days till scan but couldn't so had a terrible weekend hmm) sorry abt your GP zeux, glad car is sorted bod

Hi pumpkin congrats and welcome smile

higg hope you are coping ok, hope your week and a half goes very quickly smile

choc good choice with scan timing, that should really set your mind at rest by that stage smile

lucky good luck today x

Hi santa congrats smile Hope it all goes smoothly from here...think we all paid for private scans and 8-9 weeks has been the best time for peace of mind.

So double over cramps for me too at weekend, think it was the stress/upset...doppled yesterday and HBwas there so just gotta wait for scan tomorrow now (pink its 27h 15m), I bloody hate scans hmm but hopefully it will sort my head out for a bit smile

IBelieveInPink Mon 29-Apr-13 11:10:19

Hey Santa <waves>

Shell I am very Jels of your scan soon-ness! I think we are t the same point, seem to be having a lot of similarities, and yet I am waiting a whole 1 week 21 hours and 54 minutes! But also very excited for you for tomorrow. smile not long to go now!! Eek. Sorry to hear your pil are being a nightmare though. thanks

shellshock7 Mon 29-Apr-13 11:18:04

My GP asked for the earliest date and apparently nuchal can be done from 11+2 so it really is the earliest...just hope it can be done. Yeah was crap, I wasn't gonna see them till after the scan to avoid the stress but along the stress comes 3 bloody says before angry

Have you resisted another dopple?!

IBelieveInPink Mon 29-Apr-13 11:36:23

Ha! No chance. I was at it again yesterday. Have put a stop to that though, am only going to allow once more between now and scan as panicked myself yesterday. First that I couldn't find it. Then when I did, that it was SUPER quick. I know they are v quick, but this was ridiculously so. So no more!!! Will try and behave self smile

shellshock7 Mon 29-Apr-13 11:39:55

I was good with DS once a week, unless i had pains or something, till I felt proper kicks....will do the same this time...I know I did yesterday but that was extenuating circumstances wink

Aoifebelle Mon 29-Apr-13 12:10:50

Pumpkin and Santa welcome. I am wishing you both the very stickiest of beans.
Lucky swapping Wales for Menorca, you are living up to your name. I am off to Portugal in may and I CANNOT WAIT!
Sorry about all the cramping people, it is really really horrible. Proper freaked me out (and also put the fear of god into me about labour!).
Chocolate I know what you mean about the tight womb feeling if you over do it a bit. I am a first timer, so a new sensation for me. It is definitely a cue for me to put my feet up
Zeux what a shitty GP. I must have been so incredibly lucky everyone I have dealt with has been amazeballs. If I encountered same I think I would either be a) so dumbstruck I would say nothing, or b) go completely hormonal, pregnant lady batshit on her ass.
Janie great to hear you are on good form. Time does march on doesn't it? 10 weeks is a good round number.

For me I am feeling very satisfied with myself. I paid for pigging out on bread for or with every meal in Paris by my guts completely ceasing to function. Cue massive bloating and constipation. However, thanks to a weekend of my OH being on fibre patrol normal service has been resumed. I thought you would all appreciate me sharing. smile

stitchinline Mon 29-Apr-13 13:55:56

Been following along everones news. Exciting news with more bfps and
Not much to report here, still chanting my little mantra each morning 'today I am pregnant' to encourage my postive thinking - I found it really helped me last time until I coudl actually start to feel movement or use the doppler. Obv still being very early not much to report in way of symptons except extreme tiredness and bloating.

very excited for your soon to be scan shell

I'm thinking of booking my scan in for when i'll be 9/10 weeks - will be doing it privately as I have a strong aversion to internal scans (our epu will only do internals). The first time I mc I had an internal at 8 weeks and saw baby with a hb and then I mc the next day so although it is a bit irrational I'm quite reluctant to have one again.

ChocolateCremeEggBag Mon 29-Apr-13 14:14:15

Just bit the biscuit and booked my early scan - Saturday 18 May 9.20am - feel a bit sick now. 19 days/456 hours to go. I'll be 9+5 per my LMP date, so hoping for at least 8 week bean to show up.
Had to email them as the last screen flashed up to bring my maternity notes. As I mc'd the day after booking in last time, I'm planning to only book in after I've (FX) had the scan. But don't want to get turned away.

Hi Santa - so happy to see you over on this thread flowers

JanieLovesCake Mon 29-Apr-13 14:48:53

hi everyone - hope your mondays are going ok - especially you lucky - hope being back at work isn't too horrid. nice one about your holiday to menorca!! when do you go? we're heading on hols on 10th june and i can't bloody wait!!

pumpkin congrats on joining us!! and santa congrats to you too!!! were you the only fertile fridayer this week? brilliant to see you here smile

shell so sorry you had a hard time with PIL over the weekend. and good luck for your scan tomorrow! don't forget the lucky socks smile

pink you're totally making me want a dopplar - how many weeks were you when you first got the hb? i'm really tempted

aoife thanks for sharing your bowel movements ha!!! i haven't been constipated at all (usually the opposite) but i think i might be a bit today as i still haven't been but i'm feeeling all bloaty

stitch loving the mantra - i might try that every morning too!!

choc that's brilliant that you've got your appointment made smile my next hospital scan isn't until 31st may when i'll be 14wks (hopefully) so i've just booked a NT scan for 16th may when i'll be 12+3 (hopefully). £250 lighter but it's got to be done. obviously as soon as i hung up the phone i started getting some tweaky feelings but i'll just pretend that its the bean getting excited to be seen on the screen again.

hi to everyone else smile hope you are all keeping good!

does anyone know about parmesan?? i was in tescos at the weekend and picked some up but it said it was made with unpasteurised milk so i put it back. but we're going to an italian restaurant tonight so just wondering as sometimes stuff is already sprinkled with it.

BumpKitty Mon 29-Apr-13 15:01:15

janie you'll have to ask them if is pasteurised or not as you can get both, they normally ask you if you want it before grating it on though don't they? and yum Italian smile

choc well done for booking, we all had increased nervousness straight after booking! I hadnt got any notes for my one and it wasn't a problem.

aoife glad to hear normal service is resumed

pumpkin and santa hooray!!! welcome to the mad house

shell PIL they are sent to try us... the scan will make you forget all about them promise.

so... 12 week scan done grin lovely wriggly baby with hands and feet! So wriggly it took ages to do the nuchal measurement but she got there in the end. All good. Now I have the rest of the day off so I may do some maternity clothes shopping! Oh and I advanced 3 days, I'm now 12+2 EDD 09/11/13

IBelieveInPink Mon 29-Apr-13 15:26:52

Oh my god bump I totally missed tht your scan was today! Yay! How exciting! Another one moves over into the 'safer' catagory smile this makes me so pleased smile

Janie- I was 10+4 when I first got hb. Ooh are you getting one??

DIYandEatCake Mon 29-Apr-13 15:31:21

Hooray bump congratulations! Definitely clothes shopping time! That's wonderful news, you must be so chuffed.
Hi everyone else and welcome and congratulations santa and other new people (sorry not to remember names, I'm on my phone again).

BumpKitty Mon 29-Apr-13 15:40:12

thanks ibip and DIY i've been a bit quiet over the weekend in the midst of pre-scan doom, but over the moon at the moment grin

Aoifebelle Mon 29-Apr-13 15:40:22

Woo Hoo Bump - what a milestone - beats me having a poo well into second place for good news.
Hadn't made the connection good 12 week scan = shopping! That stuff has been so far from my mind, just living scan to scan at the mo.

JanieLovesCake Mon 29-Apr-13 15:43:13

Woohoo bump that's super fab news!!! Have fun shopping smile

Pink I'm really tempted (read that as...on eBay as we speak!)

JanieLovesCake Mon 29-Apr-13 15:44:36

Ps pink what's a reasonable amount to pay for one? Is it ok to get a 2nd hand one?

ChocolateCremeEggBag Mon 29-Apr-13 16:47:43

Fab news Bump flowers

Janie - I am also v tempted to get a Doppler (look at me tempting fate after already booking scan today) which ones are you looking at? I think one with a wand looks better than the big flat ones

JanieLovesCake Mon 29-Apr-13 16:54:58

Ooh chocolate glad you've been tempted too!! I'm in work so just had a quick look on eBay so not done proper research. I might have a good nosy tonight when we get back from dinner. If you find any good ones please share smile I want one NOW!! Although going on my poas rate, I might use it twice a day oops ha!!

IBelieveInPink Mon 29-Apr-13 16:59:29

I just borrowed a friends one, angel something.... But I would guess that a wand one may be easier to use than this one as it is flat, and therefore is hard to angle it (which you need to do when hunting for baby early!)
I haven't used the other type though so can't say for definite.....

andadietcoke Mon 29-Apr-13 17:02:55

Bump that's brilliant! I was moved forward at mine too - I felt like I'd got some 'free' days in terms of my pregnancy progressing!!

Closing my ears to all this Doppler talk. Don't want one at all. Oh no. I really do, I just know I would be a neurotic mess I need a friend with immense will power who won't give in to my whinging and will ration it. Saying that, I'm better this week as I can feel them both moving and I have less cramps (but no less aches).

Antenatal appt tomorrow. Need to start my campaign for a scan at 24 weeks. Also need to ask about when they'll induce if they need to for my mat leave date and also get my mat1b form. Oh, and everyone wants me to talk to them about my anxiety levels. Apparently, to the outside world, this isn't 'normal'. Shall I send them in here?!

IBelieveInPink Mon 29-Apr-13 18:02:16

Diet - feel them both moving? How exciting! Must be like a party in your belly!!
And yes, send anyone you like in here. We will make them crazy within 2 hours. I'm sure people are just entirely deluded about how hard this all is!

BumpKitty Mon 29-Apr-13 19:41:34

oh god anda I'd say your anxiety levels are textbook, 'people' just do not know what this is like.

I don't want a Doppler as with DD the mw always really struggled to find her heartbeat, she was behind the placenta and it was always really stressful waiting for the mw to find it (once she looked for ages then said to me 'have you felt the baby moving today?' before eventually finding the heartbeat - i was nearly climbing the walls) I could not manage that level of stress if this one ends up hiding behind the placenta too!

Shopping is on hold as I realised it's not payday till tomorrow! Though I have started packing away some clothes that I hopefully won't be seeing for a while, see-ya evil tight work trousers smile

GardenWorm Mon 29-Apr-13 20:02:33

Ha ha Bump I am jealous twofold; your fab 12 wk scan and the banishment of tight work trousers! (can't wait to ditch mine)

Anda I think you can possibly use your 'anxiety' as they like to call it to your advantage in securing a 24wk scan! That's what I'd do anyway grin

andadietcoke Mon 29-Apr-13 21:19:04

Heehee garden it has occurred to me. However, I've used my 'anxiety' for evil already once today - the MIL wants to start knitting. I've told her I don't want her to jinx anything this is true, but I also know I won't use anything she knits for me

ChocolateCremeEggBag Mon 29-Apr-13 21:43:41

Anda - get your MIL a Debbie Bliss knitting pattern book for babies. Her patterns are lovely (but the wool is £££ so may help to limit her)

DM knitted loads of stuff for DS (still does), I just had to go with it and ask her to do complicated things like cable tank tops which take her a bit more time.

shellshock7 Mon 29-Apr-13 22:19:15

I've just ate Parmesan janienever thought abt it tbh....hope it's ok shock I have the angel sounds doppler and it's worked for me no probs, was abt £20 from amazon.

bump big congrats on your scan, bet you're on cloud nine right now grin

anda if it makes you feel any better I didn't really use mine once movements became strong an regular so the doppler ship may have sailed for you now wink People who haven't had MC are just lucky to have that blind faith that everything is fine, we were prob the same first time round...it's one of the worst thing abt MC is the loss of wonder/excitement/naivety hmm

My DM knits for DS and I love it blush She knits really grown up chunky cardis/tank tops etc tho not baby stuff smile Although we do have far too many blankets wink

andadietcoke Mon 29-Apr-13 22:22:18

cremeegg you are a genius. They're lovely. Considering buying the book and the wool for the ones I want - there are some gorgeous jumpers and blankets. Thank you!!

ChocolateCremeEggBag Mon 29-Apr-13 22:34:14

And my work today is done wink good night everyone

BettyFlutterbly Mon 29-Apr-13 23:08:59

Hi ladies long time no post!!
Sorry I am so bad at this. Work, toddler and pregnancy are tiring me out!

Welcome to the newly pregnants and congrats!!!!
Yey Kitty second trimester (near enough) and a healthy baby. I'm so glad.

I'm almost un the third at last! 25weeks tomorrow. I have such a lovely big bmp now and a little party animal inside me who, like her sister, likes to keep me up all bloomin night.

I am trying to knit a patchwork blanket for dd but think it'll end up being for my grandkids haha! Dm also knits some lovely cardigans for my lo and also for me!

I must try to sleep. Take care of yourselves and your bumps.

Night x

Zeuxippe Tue 30-Apr-13 03:03:38

Hi everyone, just checking in!

Congrats to santa, lovely to see you on here grin

bump 12 weeks wow fantastic! I can't imagine how good that must feel.

7+4 here now and the days are going so slowly! Need to have the patience of a saint for this lark!! Also it doesnt help that the girl opposite me at work is pg with her first and due in June so all she talks about is birth plans, prams and baby outfits. If I wasn't pg I don't know how I'd cope with it... she has no idea what some people have to go through.

GardenWorm Tue 30-Apr-13 06:06:06

Choc those knits are soooo cute!

IBelieveInPink Tue 30-Apr-13 08:46:49

Good luck today shell. What time is your scan? Will
Most definitely be thinking of you! smile

andadietcoke Tue 30-Apr-13 09:03:11

Good luck shell - have everything crossed.

shellshock7 Tue 30-Apr-13 09:34:07

Thanks smile T-minus 4.5 hours pink

JanieLovesCake Tue 30-Apr-13 10:07:52

Ooh good luck shell!! Excited for you smile

Thanks for the Doppler advice, a friend is going to send me hers which is great!!!

And thanks also for the
Parmesan advice...nhs online seems to say even Unpasteurised Parmesan is ok as the risk is do low but still used it sparingly last night. My main worry was that I had a bite sized pepper stuffed with ricotta, I thought it was fine as it was similar to cream cheese but apparently only in pasteurised sad got into a panic at home afterwards and was sure I'd done some harm. Hoping its ok as was only a teaspoon size hmm

BumpKitty Tue 30-Apr-13 10:40:59

Isn't it ok if it's been cooked though? The heat would kill off anything nasty. I'm sure you'll be fine smile
betty it hadn't occurred to me that I'm at my second trimester! How ace is that! Happy third trimester to you!

andadietcoke Tue 30-Apr-13 11:40:23

bump I had a second trimester celebration grin we went out for a nice meal and I had a glass of champagne (didn't have any alcohol at all in first trimester after Christmas and margaritas in Florida at NY after I knew I was pregnant). It was lovely.

WillSantaComeAgain Tue 30-Apr-13 13:36:32

I'm with bump on the heat thing - its how I get my camembert fix when I'm pregnant which seems to be a pretty permanent thing. I have always found it useful to look up why certain foods are banned and to understand the risk. So uncooked eggs= salmonella BUT eggs with a lion stamp on have been vaccinated, so they're ok. Blue and soft cheese = listeria which is killed by heating over 70deg (I think - do your own research please ladies before you rely on my cod science!!).

So, couple of questions if I may:

1) any difference between paying £80 for a private scan and £175? Looking at private clinics round here, and there is a big price difference, and I wondered why.

2) As my previous MCs have all been anembryonic, do you think 7 weeks is too early for a scan - all I want to know is that there is actually something there. Also, DH is going to be away with work in Wk 7 and 8, but I can't wait till Wk 9.

2) what would you do about telling a family member (sister-in-law) who has had ongoing fertility/miscarriage issues? We have become closer, in a funny sort of way, since my two MCs, and one thing I know she hates is the feeling of being lied to when people are pg. So do i tell her straight away or do I wait? I'm dreading telling her tbh, as I know we'll drift apart again sad. And we were planning a "we're not pg so lets go and get drunk" night out.

Lurching between some posifrickitivity and imagining myself 6 months pg (I've been reading the SPD thread, FFS, as i had it last time) and doom and gloom and imagining the sonographer going silent the way that they do when there's bad new. I can't decide which is worse - I don't want to get my hopes up but neither do I want to live in fear for the next month.

Sorry, monster post. Thinking of poor little shell who is probably bricking it in the waiting room right now. Fingers and toes crossed for you my lovely.

Vocalista86 Tue 30-Apr-13 13:40:07

Hi ladies, it's been a while since I last posted, things have been totally manic with work and I have been here there and everywhere staying in hotels and not knowing if I was coming or going. Thankfully the worst of it is over and I can stop getting up at 6am (I am not a morning person). However I have managed to have a read of how how you're all doing every few days.

Congratulations to those with recent BFPs!!

Good luck for today Shell. smile

Yesterday I found out that it's ok to eat Boursin cheese, hooray! I went directly to their website and checked the FAQs and all is hunky dory grin.

19d20h approx. until my 12 weeks scan. So nervous already.

BumpKitty Tue 30-Apr-13 13:45:05

Right santa let's work through the list! I paid £79 for my early scan - it was excellent I'm not sure what more they could have done, £175 seems really high are you near London?
Only you can decide if 7 weeks is too early, are you really sure on your dates? All I wanted to see was a baby too as I had an empty sac last time so if that's enough for you then that's fine. I think my scan place would only do it from 8 weeks though.
Re sil, I'd tell her, all you will gain from not telling her is a few extra weeks of closeness but then she'll be really gutted when she does know. Also I'm crap at lying so that is clouding my judgement!

Vocalista86 Tue 30-Apr-13 13:49:41

Oh and just to add I have the angel doppler which I got from Amazon, have already used it once (which is silly as I'm 9+3) but only because I know that not hearing anything is ok because it's still early. However, it would be good to know when I may hear something... I would love to have some re-assurance before the next scan. Any advice?!

I bought it for my last pregnancy and never heard anything sad but this time I know there was a hb at 7+3!

Vocalista86 Tue 30-Apr-13 13:56:20

Santa - my scan (as just mentioned) helped put my mind at rest and that was fairly early. For me it was to see a hb and it is def. possible by 7 ish weeks...also it was scheduled by my hospital who had my EDD so they obviously think 7 ish weeks is ok for an early scann too...

Regarding SIL, I think tell her, anyone who is having a hard time of it will be pleased for you, whilst also being a bit sad that it's not them. I know thats how I felt when I was in a similar situation fairly recently, a family member who had recently had a MMC same as me told me and DH her news as we were going to stay (only 8 weeks after our MMC) because she had bad morning sickness. Unfortunately they didn't think that sharing every detail, sometimes multiple times about the pregnancy the whole time we were there might be a bit much. So tell her but perhaps only give any further information when she is ready to ask for it?

IBelieveInPink Tue 30-Apr-13 14:11:53

Santa - I also had previous mc (2) where bebby didn't grow. I held out until 8+5, partly because that's when DH could come, and partly because I wanted to see a little more than a blob. But it was HARD waiting! Mine was £70 and I'd everything I needed it to!
In terms of telling people, I really think you should do what is right for you. I wanted to hold off telling people as I was so scared, but that was right for me. Only one person who knows now couldn't understand why I did that (grrr) and if you have a close relationship now I'm sure she will understand whichever you do.

Thinking of you shell!!!!

GardenWorm Tue 30-Apr-13 14:28:58

Ooh Shell!

Santa could the expensive scan be with a consultant rather than sonographer? That was the reason for price differences in my area. I went for the cheap £60 in the end and got what I needed. I held out as long as I could as it makes the gap between private and 12/13 wk shorter!! Do you want to wait another 5 or 6 wks after the private for the next one????

GardenWorm Tue 30-Apr-13 14:32:11

Oh and on the foods thing I had Brie the other day, told the midwife and she joked about telling me off and then said the French eat all the stuff that we bang on about not eating and it's more about food hygiene and moderation!

andadietcoke Tue 30-Apr-13 15:04:59

1) mine was £95. I didn't have much choice though, and that was how much it was.

2) I had my first scan at the EPU at 7+4. That was late enough to see heartbeats and that things were progressing as they should. It's a long time to a 12w scan though (that might end up being 13+w). I ended up having a private scan at 10+4 as I couldn't accept everything was okay.

3) I think when you know everything's okay, or if you see her and you don't want to lie to her. Think about whether you'd want to tell her face to face. I struggled with that after mc - I wanted to have my reaction in private, get over it, and then slap on a happy face in my own time - just something to think about...

WillSantaComeAgain Tue 30-Apr-13 15:42:59

I'm with you on the not telling people face to face. I "politely" told a few of my friends that text messages were the kindest (for me). Face to face or being confronted with a bump is not the greatest!!

I think I will tell her, perhaps at the end of this week.

Just been looking at the NHS website and it confirmed that heating does kill listeria, so baked camembert is fine. I've also heard the thing about women in France and being told that blue cheese is fine as the bacteria introduced into blue cheese is actually kills off listeria. How true this is, I don't know. But it does go to show that half of what you hear is bollocks (its just working out which half is the problem!)

shellshock7 Tue 30-Apr-13 15:58:31

Will get back properly later but all ok grinnow 12 weeks exactly and am very happy! smile

stitchinline Tue 30-Apr-13 15:59:56

great news shellshock grin grin grin

so happy for you

stitchinline Tue 30-Apr-13 16:05:44

on the food thing the nhs website is pretty good about what is ok and what is not

There was a listeria scare in australia earlier this year (3 people died and 1 mc) so it can be pretty serious but the chances of getting it are quite slim

Listeria disease has an incubation period of 70 days, which means that from the time that someone is infected with listeria disease, it can take up to 70 days before they actually manifest with sickness.

Really hope I haven't panicked anyone with that - i just freaked myself out as I at lots of brie in the last 70 days - eek.

Must stop googling

IBelieveInPink Tue 30-Apr-13 16:25:03

Aw Shell!! That's fab! And you have just jumped up a few days, that's great news smile so pleased. Longer update later with stories of how wriggly and cute baby is later if you don't mind!!!

GardenWorm Tue 30-Apr-13 17:07:39

Amazeballs Shell, very happy for you grin

Great news shellshock smile

Aoifebelle Tue 30-Apr-13 18:22:43

Way hey Shell lost of good news on this thread of late.
Santa I had a early scan after some severe cramping. By my LMP dates I should have been 7 weeks, however when I went for the scan they saw a sac but no embryo. They gave me three scenarios 1) ectopic 2) a miscarriage 3) a normal pregnancy, but dates a bit out. Guess which scenarios i played out in my mind in the week I had to wait to be re-scanned? I would really recommend waiting to nearer 8 weeks if you can bare it, if you go at seven and your dates are out, you will risk seeing nothing even if everything is OK. It totally did my nut in.
On the cost of a scan, if you are near london you might want to have a look at the harmony test offered by the foetal medicine centre. If you have it done in your 10th week, you get two scans and a blood test that gives a pretty precise indication of the risk of chromosomal abnormalities. It is £180.
I think I would tell my SIL as she has been clear about when she would want to be told. It is a really tough one, and you might have to prepare yourself for your relationaship to cool substantially. (I have a really close friend who has gone a bit mental on me since I told her - I am just going to wait it out).

jmf294 Tue 30-Apr-13 18:27:10

Congratulations Shell- brilliant news, really pleased for you.
Hi Santa- I'd try to wait until 8 weeks for a scan.

I have my scan on Friday and I'm so scared, still not sure I'll make it to then. Any thought of future plans feels too much.
Plus I still feel sick all day - horrid.

DIYandEatCake Tue 30-Apr-13 18:58:41

shell that's wonderful! There is lots of happy news on here at the moment. santa I was very lucky to get an NHS scan (gp referred me due to bad cramping and the lovely nurse in the epu remembered me), it was at 7+1, adjusted to 6+6, and there was just a little blob with a heartbeat. If I'd had the choice I would have waited longer to see more but I was massively reassured by seeing the heartbeat, I too had an empty sac last time.

jmf sick is a good sign... And hopefully only last a few weeks more. I keep telling myself that, had another migraine today and yesterday, had loads with dd and it was awful but at the same time it's a symptom and I'll take any I can get smile

JanieLovesCake Tue 30-Apr-13 19:50:55

shell that's fab news!! delighted for you smile

the ricotta i had unfortunately wasn't cooked, but i honestly thought it was ok. there's not a lot i can do about it now although the worry is still there. fx i haven't done anything wrong. but i remember telling the midwife at my booking in appointment that we were going to sicily and she said she bets all the italian women eat all the tasty stuff we think we can't have

BumpKitty Tue 30-Apr-13 20:49:38

yey shell that's lovely , now come and update us properly!

janie i still think you'll be fine smile

shellshock7 Tue 30-Apr-13 20:50:12

janie I bought the same Parmesan I have been eating all PG and last PG today and it says on the packet not suitable for PG women ooops confused So I asked MW and she hasn't heard of it either but said just avoid from now on and don't worry smile

santa hope you're ok, you sound like you are worrying a lot...hope you can relax a bit soon x

jmf hope the days go quick now till Friday, hope you're not stressing too much x

So....the hospital was chocka so we were late in, was a nightmare felt so stressed! But all was good, baby was facing straight out at first so looked like a little alien grin wouldn't move to get the nuchal so she bashed me in the tummy loads which didn't make me freak out all all but got it in the end 1.7 so I'm hopeful to be low risk...got a lovely piccy in the end too smile Had a really good booking in as well, talked to a MW who came to see me after DS was born and she remembered us (DS had a problem which is all fine now) so she talked me thru how my labour should be better this time etc. which was good in a way, but I hadn't even thought abt that yet so am now a bit scared shock Think me and DH have also decided not to find out whether its a boy or a girl this time (we were desperate to know with DS) so that's exciting...all in all a great day grin

shellshock7 Tue 30-Apr-13 20:50:38

Ha ha cross post bump grin

IBelieveInPink Tue 30-Apr-13 21:10:43

Aw shell that sounds so amazing! Did your due date move forward again then?? And what counts as a good/bad nuchal measurement, I don't know much about it to be honest and should really start getting prepared for next week! ( 6 days, 11 hours and 51 minutes )

BumpKitty Tue 30-Apr-13 21:17:03

ah shell that's lovely - I'm also impressed how I managed to summon you to the thread with my mind grin
I'm doing it the other way round to you, I loved having a surprise last time but I'm pretty sure we'll find out the sex this time.
Also, since the scan DH keeps talking about us having a third one! He was always completely set on two so this is a bit of a turn up. I think I'll just concentrate on getting number 2 here first though!

Zeuxippe Tue 30-Apr-13 21:21:58

Congrats shell!! So glad the scan went well grin

andadietcoke Tue 30-Apr-13 21:26:15

ibip DO NOT RESEARCH NT MEASUREMENTS. Seriously. There's no good that will come from it. You could get a tiny measurement and terrible bloods and vice versa. I spent a weekend in tears cross referencing my scan photos with photos on the Internet of 'abnormal' NT measurements. Friends who had no clue about any of it breezed past their 12 week scan and didn't spend every day waiting for the post for the results whereas I was permanently anxious and checking my phone every 2 minutes. Didn't help that my results were lost in the post either!!

Just a few words of caution about researching them!!

IBelieveInPink Tue 30-Apr-13 21:37:12

Haha! Got it diet. Will not google. Promise.
How long does it take to get results? I just want to work out when we can safely tell family. My dad is dying to tell my gran (bless him) but am making him wait until I have results. Just wondering when that is likely to be....

andadietcoke Tue 30-Apr-13 21:42:11

I told people before the results - that was what made me sure that it was doomed! I was so excited to get the scan done and everything to be okay that it didn't dawn on me to wait for the NT results.

At my hospital they call you within a week if there's a problem. If you're not high risk (ie lower than 1 in 150) then you get a letter in the post after two weeks. Saying that though, mine wasn't sent out until 3 weeks and when I still hadn't got it after 4 weeks I rang up.

Think it varies between hospital though.

shellshock7 Tue 30-Apr-13 21:45:01

pink they said if I was high risk I would get a phone call in abt a week but otherwise would get a letter in a week or two

GardenWorm Wed 01-May-13 07:37:26

On the risk thing, I know someone who got a 1 in 4 which is pretty much as high risk as you can get but there was absolutely nothing wrong with the baby! I'll be having the tests but rightly or wrongly taking the results with a pinch of salt. Congrats again Shell smile

JanieLovesCake Wed 01-May-13 09:46:13

Hmmm now I'm wondering whether I should fork out £250 for the nt scan or just opt for a regular scan instead. Cripes this malarkey is difficult

Vocalista86 Wed 01-May-13 11:05:39

Yay Shell and yay for a surprise DC, I think we will keep it a surprise too! smile

I have no idea about all the tests, does everyone normally have them? Would I be the odd one out for opting out?

Zeuxippe Wed 01-May-13 11:26:13

Hello everyone, hope you're having a good day!

vocalista I think most people have the nuchal test on the NHS but the harmony test is a new one only available privately and the cost can be pretty steep so depends on how rich/worried you are.

I cannot stop eating or I feel sick! So far today I've had a croissant, a bowl of muesli and a massive cheese sandwich! is this normal? Am approaching the 8 week mark...

ChocolateCremeEggBag Wed 01-May-13 11:38:37

Hi Zeux - I think that's pretty normal. I keep getting really dizzy especially when hungry. Sometime feels like I'm on a boat.
So I'm trying to keep fluids up (not normally good at drinking water) and eat little/often. It's not helping me with trying to keep weight under control though!

I'm full of cold today - DS has it too and we had first incident of Croup last night which was pretty scary (until we came on MN at least) He was still barking like a seal first thing so managed to get an emergency doctors appt - only for him to be right as rain by 9.30am!
Have been warned that we may get a repeat experience tonight though... because I'm not tired enough already hmm

Vocalista - NT test is on NHS in my area at same time as 12 week scan. You can opt out if you want to - best thing is to talk to MW at your Booking in appt.

Vocalista86 Wed 01-May-13 11:51:32

Thanks Zeux - I have been plowing my way through low fat cheese crackers without the cheese this morning. I am so fat right now!! I keep reading how people should only eat for 2 in the third trimester but that is not working out for me....!

Choc your poor DS and you with a cold, that would be bad enough at any time let alone when pregnant sad Hope you all have a restful night tonight.

I am freaking out a bit at the mo, and am in limbo since my 7wk scan, still just under 3 weeks to go until my next one (e.g. AGES) when it will have been 5 weeks to wait, I really want another one but DH would never agree.

Bodicea Wed 01-May-13 11:51:48

Hi vocal about half the patients I scan opt for an nt scan. It depends on whether you would consider an amnio if it came back high risk for downs syndrome. And also what you would do if it was confirmed downs or other chromosome abnormality from amnio. Amnio has small ( about 1% chance) of mc. But remember 1 in 150 is classed as high risk. So if you wouldn't have that amnio, they normally say no point doing the nt as it will ruin your pregnancy if you get a high risk result x

Hope that helps x

Aoifebelle Wed 01-May-13 12:29:26

Having a really really crappy day today. OH is giving me the silent treatment for reasons unknown - I fucking HATE sulking, makes both parties feel like shit and solves nothing. Having to have really tough conversations left right and centre in work. Best mate who recently moved to Mexico has just kindly facebooked me to tell me she thinks my OH is weird and is wanting to isolate me from my friends (all because I am daring to think about moving south of the river). I wish I could blame the hormones but I am just feeling really unsupported right now. Now - how to hide a very puffy face behind a very small computer scren in a very large open plan office.

Bakingtins Wed 01-May-13 13:09:06

Hi everyone! I'm going to be brave and just plunge straight in. Normally everything goes wrong for me as soon as I start to acknowledge that I'm pregnant, so might as well get it over with and not have a month of no caffeine/wine/fun unnecessarily!
I got a BFP on Monday 2nd cycle after MC3. I'm in the middle of recurrent miscarriage investigations but so far they haven't found anything, so the plan is I'm going on aspirin, high dose folic acid and progesterone in the hope something will help. I'm being passed around in a very frustrating manner and waiting for people to call me back about getting hold of the progesterone. We've been caught on the hop a bit because it's previously taken at least 5 cycles to get pregnant again.
Will try to read the thread and catch up a bit with where you all are later.

JanieLovesCake Wed 01-May-13 13:18:05

Oh tins that's bloody awesome news!!!!! Welcome back!!!!!! So so delighted for you!!!! gringringrin Got everything crossed for a sticky wee one gringringringrin

Lucky13ForBaby Wed 01-May-13 13:20:18

Hi baking. Congratulations on the quicker bfp this time. I am also on progestorone but because of crappy mix ups etc didn't start it until about wk 7! It's a messy business! Aoifbelle- sorry to hear your not having the best time. Men are such a pain at times! I'm feeling quite rotten , sicky and tired. Work had been really hard this week and have struggled going back. Had my booking in yesterday at home which was ok but midwife not that friendly. Didn't even ask of I was ok! 10 days until next scan! smile

andadietcoke Wed 01-May-13 13:20:34

Oh baking I can't imagine what you're going through, but I'm so happy to see you back here again - and look what you started! This little gang of neurotics and crazies (said with love) have been helping each other get through some terrifying times, and it's all down to you.

Try high dose vitamin d too - won't do any harm, and they recommend you take it in pg anyway.

So, so pleased to have you back. Have everything crossed for you xxx

JanieLovesCake Wed 01-May-13 13:21:04

Sorry you're having such a shitty day Aoife, that sounds really tough, and all at once too sad sending you a big hug x

Bod thanks for the nt scan advice. You've made me think a lot about whether or not to keep my appointment. Will have to discuss with DH tonight and maybe opt for a regular scan at 12 wks rather than the nt one.

IBelieveInPink Wed 01-May-13 13:21:19

Hey baking. Wonderful to see you here. Hope they get you sorted quick. If it helps, my friend had recurrent mc (5!!!)- had all the progesterone stuff on the latest one and it has worked a treat. She is 34 weeks now. I hope the same happens for you smile

shellshock7 Wed 01-May-13 13:26:56

Yay tins gringringringringrin So made up to see you back, hope everything goes smoothly for you smile

zeux me too, still feeling really sick now and food only helps for abt 10 mins!

Sorry you're all ill choc sounds rubbish, hope you all get better soon smile

aoife sounds like a totally crap day, can you be kind to yourself tonight and have a nice bath/early night or something?

Lucky13ForBaby Wed 01-May-13 13:30:31

Anyone got a real Nast taste in there mouth? It won't go away!

Lucky13ForBaby Wed 01-May-13 13:31:12

That would be nasty and their!

GaryBuseysTeeth Wed 01-May-13 13:37:19

Baking!!!!! So pleased/surprised/happy to see you back so soon! Congratulations <sends strongest sticky vibes possible>

Aoife, hope OH lets you know why he's sulking soon. Sounds like you're having a tough day. x

Bump, late congrats on the scan, we did it the same way round as you, didn't find out for DS but found out this time. If we had a third/fourth/tenth I don't think I'd want to find out again.
Shell, congrats on your scan too!

Zeux, I've been eating all in sight recently, breakfast at 8am & hungry by 9!

Santa, I'd tell your SIL as soon as you feel comfortable. She should understand why you didn't tell her asap?
Although I did have a 'friend' tell me she wasn't angry at me for getting pregnant before her because I'd had a mc the month before. Cheers love hmm

<waves> at everyone else!
My Braxton hicks have started ramping up (heat related) so very aware I'm pregnant now. The leaky boobs, big bump & fat feet obviously aren't hint enough for me grin
25+4 today so 3rd trimester in sight, as is mc due date....think I want to get a piece of jewellery (birthstone of mc?) to commemorate? Would that be weird?

GaryBuseysTeeth Wed 01-May-13 13:38:34

Lucky, could it be oral thrush? Tastes like fuzzy orange mixed with milk?

BumpKitty Wed 01-May-13 13:50:36

baking I'm delighted to see you, welcome back. I hope they stop messing you round soon.

zeux right there with you on the sickness/ hunger. I had to be weighed at my 12 week scan - it was not good news (despite going for a wee and taking my shoes off!)

janie I had no tests first time round, every now and again through my pg it would throw me in to deep panic that I had no idea if things were ok ( not that the tests guarantee that) combined with the fact we have DD to think of now I would want to know, as far as possible, if there was something wrong. It's crap you have to pay so much though.

gary sorry about the BH! Though they do say it makes labour quicker if you have lots of BH. Also, why would you not find out the sex next time? Is it a bit of an anticlimax? It's DH that really wants to know this time.

aoife sorry about the crap friends and sulky DH. Mine is sulky from lack of sex, I'm finding it difficult to care really!

All ok here apart from heartburn started yesterday! I'm sure it started much later with DD sad no more tomatoes for me

BumpKitty Wed 01-May-13 13:53:10

And gary you should mark the mc in whichever way you like no one else's opinion matters smile

lucky is it the famous metallic taste? I've never had it

Vocalista86 Wed 01-May-13 14:03:04

Baking Hooray and congrats!!

Aoife my DH is a major sulker too and I feel the same way about it as you do, e.g. why?! It solves nothing. This morning I nearly blew up at him whilst he was lounging in bed (his job has fairly unpredictable hours and he's had a lot of time off recently) and he didn't even think to offer to help me make lunch/cup of tea etc and then I discovered whilst he was 'tidying't the bedroom yesterday (another day off) he put my work trousers under a pile of his clothes on the flooor - hello major creases. However I just kept quiet and did not say what I thought because otherwise he would have spent the whole rest of the day sulking. Men are so moody sometimes, even worse than us!

Well... in other news I have taken the plunge and hired a proper doppler, this in instead of a private scan, to reassure me before my 12 weeks scan, hopefully.

andadietcoke Wed 01-May-13 14:36:11

Ooh vocal where does one hire a 'proper' Doppler?! And how much is it?

Gary that's a lovely idea. I suspect I'll be marking my mc EDD avoiding Facebook and the media (ex best friend and Kate Middleton!). Do you have a charm bracelet? That might be a good way to start - the bracelet for the mc and then charms to celebrate all the happier moments in your life, past, present and future?

BumpKitty Wed 01-May-13 14:39:37

Shit, I am leaking clear fluid. Has anyone has that? Waiting for call back from epu

DIYandEatCake Wed 01-May-13 14:39:44

baking so pleased to see you back here so quickly - and really hope things go much better for you this time.

Dp and I were talking about testing for chromosomal things the other day and we've decided not to again (didn't for dd, but the nt scan wasn't available then so just declined the bloods). We wouldn't have an amnio, anything life-threatening would hopefully show at the 20w scan, and if we were given like a 1/20 chance we'd just worry and all might be fine. I remember worrying about it a lot last time but once we'd made the decision not to find out it was a big relief.

Still suffering with a migraine today, had it since Monday, paracetamol does nothing and I'm really struggling to keep 2yo dd entertained when all i want to do is curl up in a dark room. Had them a couple of times a week til 17w last time, didn't appreciate how lucky I was to be able to take the day off work and hide in bed then!

andadietcoke Wed 01-May-13 14:46:42

bump I've had excess watery discharge. How much is it? Is it dripping/soaking a pad or did it gush? If none of those then probably fine and just discharge. Hope they call back soon.

GaryBuseysTeeth Wed 01-May-13 14:56:24

Bump, hope they get back to you asap.
I have loads of (clear, none smelly) discharge...am wearing panty liners because otherwise it looks like I've wet myself blush hope it's nothing serious. xxx

DIY, migraines & toddlers do not mix! Hope you're feeling better soon, DS watches far too much tv when I'm feeling rubbish.

WillSantaComeAgain Wed 01-May-13 14:57:37

kitty - with DC1 I remember having (TMI) a lot of discharge from about 10 weeks. Had to wear pads otherwise I felt like I'd wet myself. It got better though, so hopefully that's what it is for you. Hope you get some reassurance from the EPAU though.

baking - hello! So, do you squeeze into 2013 or are you 2014? (Not that i know you want to think about it, but if you're taking the plunge anyway, you might as well go the whole hog). I squeaked into 2013 by a day... DC1 arrived 3 days early, so hopefully this one will (a) stick around and (b) arrive after Christmas but before NYE.

I'm feeling much more confident this time around - I think because I am already peeing three times a night, which I didn't for either of the last two pregancies. Now I'm just waiting for the MS to start - hopefully it'll be here by the end of next week. Never thought I'd say that!!!

anda - I can't believe Kate Middleton is your ex best friend grin

JanieLovesCake Wed 01-May-13 15:10:08

Bump my midwife told me at my booking in app to expect some gushes and so long as it wasn't itchy or smelly then it was fine. I've noticed a wet patch a few times so wearing liners now. Hope it's ok xx

Vocalista86 Wed 01-May-13 15:56:23

anda My MC EDD was the same as K Middy's - to the day sad It's still hard watching her get her bump, buying things etc.

Also there are lots of websites that hire out the priceir dopplers, I've gone for a Hi Bebe BT200, costing around £10 per month, it has a little probe thing so I think it will be easier to use than my angel sounds. I'm the woman who needs 2 dopplers! Crazy alert.

bump hoping you get a call soon/have had one already.

BumpKitty Wed 01-May-13 16:18:05

Hi all, sat in the hospital - was not expecting to be back so soon. I've had an internal exam and doesn't look like the fluid is coming out of my cervix. But they want to do a scan, the machine won't be available till after 5 so we are now just waiting.
Also the dr. that did the internal was none other than my ERPC dr. could have done without that particular coincidence

shellshock7 Wed 01-May-13 16:41:19

bump I’m with everyone else, lots of that for me too so hopefully all will be ok…at least you are getting scanned so you can have your mind put at rest smile

Bump, glad it's not cervix stuff, hope you get onto the machine asap.

It just doesn't feel as exciting knowing what sex the baby is, obviously all the blah about it just being healthy applies, but DH loved finding out sex when cutting the cord last time. I suppose they could always be wrong.

Santa, hope you've got your head down the loo soon! grin

baking that's an early BFP, which is a good sign. (Either that or mine was a very late BFP, which is not a good sign)

Aoifebelle Wed 01-May-13 16:59:58

Hey Bump hope you are hanging in there. Doesn't sound like it is anything too awful - but really unsettling at the same time time. I hope you get some answers soon.

Everyone else, thanks for helping me through my crappy day. Now I just have to go home and face the Incredible Sulk. If he doesn't have a tongue back in his head, I think I might put him out the door for a while. See if that gets him a bit more communicative.

andadietcoke Wed 01-May-13 17:03:21

Santa yep. We were super close once, when I saw her in Tesco at Holyhead

Vocal and now she's having my buggy. In my unique, different colour. If I didn't love it so much I would consider changing the colour, and may still have to yet if it's sold out by mid June.

Bump so glad everything seems okay and you get another scan.

I'm in London today. I got offered a seat on the tube and everything (but not when I actually needed one and was stood right next to the priority seats. I've got a baby on board badge but it seems a bit needy for 21 weeks.

Pentagon Wed 01-May-13 17:58:02

bump and shell congratulations on your great 12-week scans. Hooray!!!

Welcome to all the newbies and welcome back baking - congratulations to all!

Aoif sorry you're having such a crap day. It really bugs me when people sulk, I just grab them and demand an explanation - I honestly can't stand it! I hope DH is back to normal tonight.

Can I ask for your advice ladies? Depending on what stage of your pregnancy you're at, have you stopped/when will you stop taking pregnancy supplements/folic acid? With DD I only took folic acid till I was about 13/14 weeks and then nothing at all. This time I've been taking the Solgar prenatal tablets but I'm about to run out and I'm really not sure if I need to invest in a new bottle. We don't need folic acid after 12 weeks, do we? But we need vitamin D? I have my 16-week midwife appointment on May 17th and not sure what to do till then...

andadietcoke Wed 01-May-13 18:01:25

Pentagon I'm 21w and currently taking ferrous sulphate, aspirin and vitamin d. I was on high dose folic acid until yesterday because one consultant had said to carry on, but yesterday was told there was no need after 12w.

BumpKitty Wed 01-May-13 18:15:01

right, they sent me home with no scan. I bloody hate that hospital. They let me wait for an hour then said they had 3 c-sections to do so I was unlikely to get a scan. (I was seen on gynaecology rather than EPU). so my choices are wait till Friday when there is a slot available on the EPU or go back to gynaecology tomorrow at 9am and wait till they can scan me (possibly not till after 4pm!) how do they seriously think people will be able to do that. So they are going to call me tomorrow am to see if they can book me in on Friday.
I have called the place where I had my private scan to see if they could see me and I'm waiting for a call back. Just not sure whether they will be able to properly medically see if i'm leaking iyswim.

BlackholesAndRevelations Wed 01-May-13 18:42:37

Wow, so much to catch up on!! Before I continue reading I just wanted to say, bakingtins, woop de woooooooooooooo!! What super awesome news!! grin

GardenWorm Wed 01-May-13 18:52:42

Oh Bump that is crap. Try and keep hold of the thought that when they did the examination they didn't think it was coming from your cervix. I really hope you hear back from the private one and get seen tomorrow. If not I think I'd probably just camp out at the EPU tomorrow and sob in the waiting room - they may squeeze you in early! X

andadietcoke Wed 01-May-13 18:52:48

bump have they been able to tell you what it could be if your cervix looks okay? Sounds like a lot of messing your around. Hugs xx

BlackholesAndRevelations Wed 01-May-13 18:55:22

Caught up now. bump- sorry about your leaking and lack of scan. I'm having lots of discharge too so I hope it's all ok xxx

Aoife- hope the incredible sulk (ha!) has cheered up! My dp is also sexually frustrated so he's playing golf a lot, haha! I just can't be bothered with it, soooo tired.

I'm 6+3 tomorrow which is when I started to lose first mc baby (5+3 second time). Have my head well and truly buried in the sand, can't accept that I'm pg until I actually see it on a scan. Haven't even told parents yet!

IBelieveInPink Wed 01-May-13 19:43:47

Bump- what a nightmare you poor thing. Hope you doing okay.

Blackholes - I did same. Didn't tell parents until I had a scan at 8+5. Keep going. Day by day etc etc. Best bit of advice- keep busy. If you can talk your mind off it (easier said than done) it will go quicker.

GaryBuseysTeeth Wed 01-May-13 20:09:32

Pentagon, I never stopped taking folic acid, also taking a pregnancy multi-vit & a vit D/calcium supplement (took it with DS, before NHS starting advising people to have it).
I really need to start taking Iron tablets too (anaemic when not pg), so my mission for tomorrow is to buy some.

Bump, sorry they didn't scan you...although hopefully it's a 'good' thing that they didn't think it was emergency scan worthy?
Hope they have good news when they phone you tomorrow.

Blackholes, hope tomorrow passes quickly without twinge or worry!
Had to tell PIL asap with this one as I got pg just before Christmas & went off all my favourite foods they would've bought especially for me.

BumpKitty Wed 01-May-13 20:12:26

thanks all, not much/any liquid now but I do have a pad in so that may be soaking it up confused i spoke to the woman from the private scan place and she can see me at 9.15am tomorrow - so unless anything dramatic happens over night I will be doing that.

anda they reckon just vaginal discharge, just not completely reassured as they would hace scanned me if they weren't so busy.

I spoke to my midwife and she said it's very unlikely to be amniotic fluid at this stage but I gain little comfort from that sort of statement as very unlikely things seem to happen a lot sad

A huge congratulations to you bakingtins thanks
Hope it settles down for you bump
Could someone add me to the list please as im missed off and cannot do it on my mobile, thankyou smile
My stats are pumpkinsweetie edd 26/12/13
Getting a bit concerned as my nipple tingling has ceased, hope it isn't a bad sign like last time sad
Cant help continually knicker checking either, but im constantly needing the wee anyway so that's hopeful as its a symptom that hasn't disappeared.

Big fat congratulations to you bakingtins How exciting grin

jmf294 Wed 01-May-13 22:09:36

Huge congrats Bakingtins!!
Bump- has anyone dipped your wee to see if you have an infection as if you had you could leak wee. May be worth an emergency gp appointment tomorrow.

Aoifebelle Wed 01-May-13 22:16:07

Phew bump. At least you have a time line. Going private all the time would get super expensive.
black holes remember today you are pregnant. I have found that scans for others on here seem top come round super fast, but my own very slowly. Weird.
Midwife booking in tomorrow. I seem to remember they add ask about domestic abuse, might see if sulking is included.

JanieLovesCake Wed 01-May-13 22:27:13

aw bump i'm sorry you were left in limbo by the hospital. hope the private clinic are more helpful, but as someone else said, the fact that they didn't do an emergency scan is hopefully positive

Aoife hope the incredible sulk has cheered up. nothing worse than a moaning man (or silent moaner).

i have bitten the bullet and decided to cancel the £250 NT scan. my next hospital scan is at 14 weeks and there's just no way in the world that i could wait that long do i have booked a private scan at just before 12 weeks. crazily it was actually DH who suggested it - he said maybe the NT was a bit too much money but he would like a reassurance scan! found a place at £99 so that's not the worst (and they can see me earlier than the NT place smile ) so i better update the stats...

Morning everyone!

bump sorry to hear you've been having such a worrying time and hope the scan goes ok.

Congrats baking!! So pleased for you and lovely to see you on here.

Please could someone add my stats to the list as I only ever get to access on my iPhone:

Zeux 1DD 1MC EDD 14th December No scan date yet

Thank you!!

Bodicea Thu 02-May-13 07:12:02

Sorry bump just read back. Hope you get sorted today x

Bakingtins Thu 02-May-13 07:57:54

Bump fingers crossed your scan is reassuring today.

Gary I recommend Spatone (iron rich spa water) rather than tabs. They tend to have some v unpleasant side effects ( horrible constipation and black poo) but I've tolerated the Spatone ok. Floradix also worth checking out but I think it has other things in so you'd need to make sure it was compatible with pregnancy/ other supplements.

I'm on 5mg ( as in 12 of the normal tablets unless I can get some prescribed) folic acid, 75mg aspirin, a pregnancy multivitamin and as of today progesterone pessaries twice a day. confused I will rattle and squelch as I walk along, but all in a good cause...

Thanks everyone for the lovely welcome back!

shellshock7 Thu 02-May-13 08:31:08

Morning everyone smile

bump hope things calmed down last night and you get a scan today x

Just a word of warning abt spatone, my MW last time suggested I go on spatone instead of iron tabs as they are gentler....but they don't contain anywhere near as much iron, so my levels dropped and I got told off by my GP and I had to go back on the tabs, so maybe ask your GP if you are being prescribed iron before making the switch smile

DIYandEatCake Thu 02-May-13 09:54:39

Hi everyone, bump hope you're ok and get some answers today.
Struggling here today, migraine got worse overnight, the pain is so bad my eye's watering and I'm being sick every 20 mins (since the early hours of the morning - can't keep any water down). I'd forgotten how s**t this was last time. Poor dd is watching cbeebies while I lie on the sofa and run upstairs to be sick at regular intervals, feel shaky and dehydrated and just horrible. Anyone else on here get more migraines in pregnancy? I'm still trying to see it as a good sign but I've mislaid my posifrickintivity today!

Zeuxippe Thu 02-May-13 10:32:24

Oh no diy poor you! Being sick every 20 minutes doesn't sound good for you or the baby, can your GP give you anything?

BumpKitty Thu 02-May-13 11:21:07

Hi all, thanks for the concern, I had the private scan and all is good. They did it for £60 for me which was pretty reasonable but I agree I can't start making a habit of it.
The hospital have offered me a scan at 2pm tomorrow, the sonographer today recommended I had the hospital one too as then it would all be properly documented in my notes so I guess I'll be having 3 scans this week!

BumpKitty Thu 02-May-13 11:23:18

Jesus diy that sounds rough, is there anything they can give you?

Vocalista86 Thu 02-May-13 11:26:02

Bump glad all is well and that your hospital have eventually been helpful...

DIY that sounds awful, can your DP come home from work and help look after you and your little one?

I need some advice, I am also taking ferrous sulphate and it is making things very difficult in the toilet dept. I can't stop taking the iron so apart from drinking lots of water what can I do? Any remedies that are safe?! blush

I guess it depends how anaemic you are, spatone if definitely safe in pg and doesn't cause the constipation but like shell says it may not be enough iron for you. Thanks for the info. shell I hadn't thought about the actual iron content, I usually forget to take my spatone anyway as you have to not have eaten for 30 mins before and after and I'm constantly stuffing my face!

JanieLovesCake Thu 02-May-13 11:41:07

Oh DIY you poor wee thing sad I've had headaches for the last week or two but not as bad as you sad I would call your gp and see if they can offer something to help, you shouldn't have to suffer sad

Vocal how about good old prunes? Or prune juice? Gross but it works.

Bump I'm so happy you got your scan, and that was kind of them to do it for 60quid. I'm guessing its normally more than that? Our private scan is £99 and I thought that was a good price. Only 8days 22hrs and 6 minutes to wait

Zeuxippe Thu 02-May-13 11:47:15

Please could someone add me to the list? Stats supplied earlier today.

bump glad things are ok.

Bakingtins Thu 02-May-13 11:48:08

Vocalista have you had your iron checked recently? If it is not too bad then the Spatone may be fine. I was very anaemic (needed a blood transfusion but they only transfuse you to the point where you can actually function so still v low haem) after birth of my son, tried the iron tablets and after 2 days was in agony. Couple of weeks on dbl dose spatone (what they recommend for pregnancy) sorted me out.
The tablets are the devils work!
DIY sorry to hear about your migraine - it sounds awful. Is there anything safe that you can take?
Bump glad everything is ok smile

Bump- so pleased scan was good. Have been worrying about you!

DIY- sound horrific lovely. Sounds like you need to ask for some help with that, hope you are feeling better v soon.

So, I have some new symptoms! Which I am pleased about as pretty much all of the minimal symptoms I had before are gone?!
Dreams are back, particularly weird one last night.
Dizzyness/actually seeing swirly lights. That one is actually quite pretty! And I am used to dizziness- had labrynthitis for 8 months last year smile
And- heartburn! I didn't think that started until much later? Should I be investing in shares in gaviscon now?!

Glad all was well at your scan bump smile

Having a minor panic (again) just received a letter from Dr Surgery and a urine pot asking for a repeat sample due to the results. Am panicking now! Have phoned up and waiting for someone to call me back. Oh for the simple life hey!
Just realised my scan is the same day as yours Janie smile

JanieLovesCake Thu 02-May-13 13:59:07

Oh god lucky that's annoying, hopefully they have just made an error or spilt your last one.
My scan's at 9.40 that morning, is yours early? I now officially rename 11th may 'lucky sock day' grin xxx

BumpKitty Thu 02-May-13 14:05:31

I wore duck socks today - lucky duckies for me smile

Lucky13ForBaby Thu 02-May-13 15:24:17

Yey to lucky ducky socks and luck socks in general.
Maybe I should put some on now! Still waiting for a dr to call me. Have scarred myself silly googling why they would send a Boric Acid urine sample pot and found serious UTI which has nasty consequences sad

Janie my scan isn't until early afternoon as I needed childcare for my DS. I just want everything to be ok. Every day seems to be a new worry and complication!

DIYandEatCake Thu 02-May-13 15:58:18

Thanks guys. Still being sick every time I try to drink something, that's more than 12 hours chundering now :-( feel so rough. My lovely friend brought her dd round to play with mine this morning which helped pass some time, she's one of the only people apart from family who I don't mind seeing me in pyjamas with unwashed hair! This afternoon is going v slowly though til dp comes home.

I've always had migraines, it's just that now I can only have paracetamol they get completely out of control. I saw the gp several times when pg with dd and the only alternative to paracetamol they could offer was a prophylactic that I've never tried before - didn't want to take any risk to the baby especially if I didn't even know if it would work. The migraines stopped at 17w last time so only 9 weeks to go hopefully...!

lucky hopefully they're just excluding things to be on the safe side?

jmf294 Thu 02-May-13 16:32:55

DIY- hope you feel better soon, sounds horrific you poor thing.
Lucky- hope the urine test is ok, probably just a contaminated sample- fingers crossed.

Well I'm off to the FMC in London tomorrow at 10am for my first scan. Not sure how I will sleep tonight. I still feel sick which is a good thing but I keep convincing myself of crazy things like I have high hCG as there is something wrong with the baby, or there will be nothing there, or its died.
I want the harmony test and NT scan if I get to 10/12 weeks but I am scared about the results as I am 36.

Bakingtins Thu 02-May-13 16:47:03

Good luck JMF I'm sure all those worries are normal and hope all your fears are allayed tomorrow.

Pentagon Thu 02-May-13 17:13:32

bump so glad everything is OK! And you're getting several scans which is great (now you can look forward to seeing the baby tomorrow!)

DIY -I hope you're feeling a bit better, throwing up every 20 min sounds torturous

lucky it's probably nothing serious, please don't worry!

jmf good luck tomorrow!! Chances are that as soon as you get there you will calm down (the atmosphere is very peaceful). I mentioned my fears to the doctor who was about to scan me (2 missed miscarriages, expecting the worst) and she didn't waste any time, she put the probe on my bump straight away....then I managed to breathe :-) and enjoy the scan!! You're only 36, please don't worry. I am 35 and my harmony results were fine as they were for a friend of mine who's 38 (and will actually be 39 in a month's time). All the best, let us know how you get on!

Just bought another bottle of prenatal vits - thank you all for your advice!! And some weleda stretch mark oil, never used it before, hope it's good.

GardenWorm Thu 02-May-13 17:26:34

DIY sounds horrific, are there any non medicinal alternatives? Acupuncture, reflexology etc?

JMF good luck for tomorrow, will be thinking of you

Lucky hope you get an answer asap re the wee situation

Bump slightly jel of your 3 scans a week and very happy today's was good news, maybe you can enjoy tomorrows? wink

IBIP I am envious of your new found symptoms, I have just panic bought a Doppler from amazon as mine have all gone. Boo.

Tins good to see you back where you belong even if you are rattling and squelching!

Hi de hi to everyone else!

Lucky13ForBaby Thu 02-May-13 17:52:00

Ok I'm really freaked out now as the Dr phoned and said there were red bllod cells in my urine sample taken last week. I've just taken a new sample into the Drs and they have just basically said wait for the next scan. Flippty flip why cant I just have normal, boring , straight forward pregnancies. I pray nothing has happened to this little one. Stay with me please.

andadietcoke Thu 02-May-13 18:04:36

Lucky I had this at 10 weeks. Urine sample showed +2 for blood and leukocytes. Tests came back negative for everything and that was the end of it. I didn't hear anything about it all, and all my subsequent urine samples have been normal for everything.

GardenWorm Thu 02-May-13 18:05:39

When's your next scan lucky? x

GardenWorm Thu 02-May-13 18:07:05

Some POSIFRICKINTIVITY for you there Lucky from Anda!'

Lucky13ForBaby Thu 02-May-13 18:38:37

Thanks Anda. I just hope all ia ok. My scan the 11th May. I want one now!

Aoifebelle Thu 02-May-13 18:48:28

DIY I really hope your headaches have cleared and the vomiting stopped. It sounds pretty fecking hideous. Never had migranes, but I have seen what they do to people. Not good.
Lucky could it be something as simple as a UTI? Are they thinking your next scan will explain the RBCs in the urine? Not sure how an ultrasound will do this. You might want to push them to investigate a bit more. I don't think blood in the urine is a sign of MC, but maybe something else that just needs a bit of attention.
JMF keen to hear how you got on at FMC. Will be heading that way myself. I hope you got lots of good news.

OH came home last night half cut and alot more talkative, so sulk appears to be over. Went today for my booking in, appt was for 1.20, wasn't seen by 2.30 and had to leave for another hospital appointment. Grrrrrrrr.

DIYandEatCake Thu 02-May-13 18:50:31

Did the doctor say what that means lucky? Hope all is ok. And good luck for tomorrow jmf, keeping everything crossed that you have a great scan and get to see your tiny baby. I think we all have fears like yours, I felt so much better after seeing a heartbeat on a scan.

Finally stopped being sick and managed to eat something so that's progress! Headache still there, need to force myself to drink (gone right off the idea) and hopefully it will go soon - 4 days is enough! I would be tempted to try alternative therapies but money is an issue and not sure how well it would work as they're hormonal.

IBelieveInPink Thu 02-May-13 18:52:23

Garden - don't do it! I am now against dopplars. I heard hb this time last week clear as anything. I now can't find it. What wa suppose to be a lovely little boost waiting for scan has now turned into nothing fun. Damn it all bod was right, dopplars are the devils work.

DIYandEatCake Thu 02-May-13 18:52:56

Oh and almost forgot - milestone passed, I've got one day further this time than last :-)

Lucky13ForBaby Thu 02-May-13 19:05:20

Yey to passing your milestone DIY smile
IBIP - I so want a Doppler right now! When I questioned Dr on Phone about the blood cells he said maybe bleeding from uterus and asked ifr id had any bleeding. He seemed to imply wait for scan to see if the baby is ok / or miscarrying (Although I always think the worst!)

Sorry to hear your feeling rough DIY
Great the big sulk over Aoife smile

Hi everyone else

katerinaemalina Thu 02-May-13 19:17:46

Hello <waves> can I tentatively join? Am v scared 51/2 weeks knicker checking obsessive. 2x early mc 7 weeks and 5 weeks so could well happen again. However this time I do feel different - sore boobs, white cm, not sore back, tired, hungry but feel sick at times. Plus i got strong test result - went preg v quickly and 2-3 weeks. all other times only said 1-2. Crossing fingers it stays. I get mild cramps but I think this is normal right? They come and go. Argh stressful time. Just want 12 weeks to be here.

Will now read rest of thread to catch up. Am also still hovering on old thread so not to jinx things smile

GaryBuseysTeeth Thu 02-May-13 19:20:32

Lucky, hope it turns out to be nothing.
I had protein (+++ if that means anything), ketones & blood in my sample at 16wks, not so much as a UTI <proud of my odd wee>

flowers & <decaf> brew for DIY, sounds like you're having a horrible time of it. Hurrah for passing your milestope x

Bump, glad everything looks ok & hope they don't find anything at the scan tomorrow...you'll be bored of looking at baby by the time it arrives at this rate grin

<calm vibes> to JMF. Good luck for tomorrow morning!

Baking, cheers for the iron liquid info. I'm usually ok with iron tablets (had been on 200mg a day for 10yrs prior to DS) but completely forgot to factor in how rubbish pregnancy constipation could be! Off to Boots tomorrow!

Hope we get some more grads tomorrow, <channels Posifrickingtivity vibes>

GaryBuseysTeeth Thu 02-May-13 19:21:46

My vibes are so awesome they caught katerina in their gravitational pull.....Welcome & congratulations!!

katerinaemalina Thu 02-May-13 19:34:11

I should have joined last fri but too scared to tempt fate

DIYandEatCake Thu 02-May-13 19:43:17

Hmm, I guess he's thinking that if there was bleeding the wee could have picked up a bit on its way to the pot... But you'd see it if there was significant blood wouldn't you? Blimming doctors, some of them are great but some of them just don't think about how you might be feeling. Still can't believe zeux's doctor.

From what I remember from last successful pg, the midwives won't even try to find a heartbeat with a Doppler before 16 weeks as it's so hit and miss early on, so try not to worry ibip, you might have been picking up something else last week or the baby might just have been in a more convenient position then.

DIYandEatCake Thu 02-May-13 19:48:21

Hi katerina woo hoo! Wishing you lots better luck this time, sounds promising! Yes I think cramps are normal, though at about your stage I panicked so much about mine (they did have me doubled over) that I went and pestered a slightly befuddled gp who did nevertheless refer me to be checked not an ectopic (my last miscarriage was suspected ectopic for a while so I'm perhaps a bit paranoid!)

IBelieveInPink Thu 02-May-13 21:16:33

The little bugger has changed sides! No wonder I couldn't find it! Chillin on the right side now. Honestly!!!!

Okay, so its 'what would you do' time.......

I have been invited to a thing in November. Baby time. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. About £50.
If baby works out, I won't be able to go. I may be able to sell my ticket.
If I don't get a ticket and things go tits up, I am gonna be so annoyed.
But it is £50 that realistically, if I am being positive, I shouldn't spend, as I won't actually get to go!

BumpKitty Thu 02-May-13 21:44:39

ibip I am certain you won't be ale to go so I think you should save your money. And I wouldn't want to tempt fate by buying one, but I'm a bit of a nutter smile
Glad you found the little un again, roll on 7th May!

BumpKitty Thu 02-May-13 21:46:02

And hi katerina all your signs are sounding very positive to me smile

Welcome Katerina and congrats thanks

Goodluck to everyone having scans

Yay for you Diy for passing your milestone smile

Lucky its probably nothing to worry about or something simple like a uti.

I haven't even booked in with midwife yet, not sure when to do it as things have changed alot since my last dc. Also not wanting to tempt fate after mc in feb. When did you guys book in ?

BumpKitty Thu 02-May-13 22:54:23

pumpkin I tried to put off contacting the midwives for ages but eventually caved in and phoned at about 8 weeks, I ended up having my booking in at nearly 12 weeks - the main issue is they can't book your 12 week scan if they don't know you are pg!

ChocolateCremeEggBag Thu 02-May-13 23:10:38

IBIP - now come on, what is the "thing"? You can tell us. Depeche Mode?

I would get the ticket personally as would be invoking the law of sod that you won't be able to go

ChocolateCremeEggBag Thu 02-May-13 23:13:57

Pumpkin - I know how you feel re booking in, my mc started the evenin after mine sad.
I've made the appt for after my private scan this time so will hopefully be 10 weeks ish. But called yesterday and May 22 was the next available slot so glad I did call as otherwise could have been waiting a whole lot longer for my "real" first scan

IBelieveInPink Thu 02-May-13 23:39:57

Chocolate - busted. Damnit. smile

Thanks for the advice ladies. I have gone with 'invoking the law of sod' (love it) and will have a ticket which will hopefully never be used!!

Forgot to say before, hello to katerina!

Pumpkin, I was the same as you. Especially as 1st mc happened day after booking in. But then my friend suggested that perhaps I should get booked in, so that should anything happen that concerned me, I would already be 'in the system' and would have a good point of contact. This made sense to me, And helped me see booking in as a good thing rather than a route to mc!

GardenWorm Fri 03-May-13 06:08:32

Ha ha ibip loved your Dopplers are the devils work shortly followed by I found baby on the other side! Made me chuckle. At the mo I'm feeling a bit unpositive (not aided by wierd mc/birth dream last night where a sac dropped out of me with a miniature fully formed yawning baby - analysis wise I can't decide now whether this was an mc or a pain free birth! Nuts!) so I figured if I struggle and don't find heartbeat I won't feel worse but if I do....grin Oh and a Status Quo gig is nothing to be ashamed of not sure how big the resale market is though?

Pumpkin my booking in is next wk and I'll be 11+6 slight extreme of pushing it but the Drs failed to mention the new system and I went to what they told me was my booking in last week but in fact was a pointless leaflet giving session, most of which would be in the recycling bin if that wasn't fate tempting. Rant over!

GardenWorm Fri 03-May-13 06:12:26

Hello Kat and Happy Scan Day to Bump and jmf smile

Thanks everyone, I'm only around 6wks so i will start the ball rolling with midwife on Monday as like you say i wont want my scan booked much later than 12wks or i will go out of my mind with worry. Haven't thought about asking for an early scan, I'm going to bare it in mind for reassurance sake. But i doubt they will agree as my mc went unrecorded as it was a natural mc & i just knew there was nothing that could be done. Will tell midwife about this though so it goes in my notes.

IBelieveInPink Fri 03-May-13 07:01:50

Garden - I have had a lot of those dreams. I understand how much they can freak you out.
Best advice for using dopplar early, drink a lot. Like you are going for a scan. Works much better. And I try and find my own heartbeat first, followed by the 'whooshing' noise (video on you tube tells me this is placenta) and baby is usually hidden somewhere around that. Takes a while though. I got super lucky the first time I found it.

andadietcoke Fri 03-May-13 07:12:28

Happy scan day jmf and bump smile good luck!!

garden I've had three so far. They seemed so real that every time I woke up I was so surprised to still be pregnant. The one that really messed with my head was when I had one nightmare, woke up, and went back to sleep, and had another mc nightmare where I 'knew' that the first one was a dream but this was real. Again, they just dropped out, complete with massive black eyes. They stopped after 12w, but they really upset me. They just mean you're worried, nothing more. Promise.

BlackholesAndRevelations Fri 03-May-13 07:40:25

Morning all! Hope scans go well today! Wonder if we'll have any new members today? Hope so!

I made it past 6+3- onwards and upwards! Xx

katerinaemalina Fri 03-May-13 08:02:34

Morning! well I am still pregnant this morning. This is surely a slow form of torture! I'm seeing dr for first time at around 7 weeks. They have been a bit crap tbh. I rang them when I got a bfp and said I'm preg. They didn't really tell me what their process was. So far I've had to wee in a pot. Rang up 24hr later. Yeh it's positive says receptionist. Well I could have told you that! Any idea of timings? No. Ok! Then I had to sort out another appt as still not told what to do. Earliest one is not till week after next (though from mn understand this is fine) no idea what dr will do or say. They do know about my past mc so I am going to ask for an 8 week scan but don't hold out hope. What did your dr do? Do you get referred to a mw? When do they do all the tests and chats with you? Just fairly baffled how non forthcoming dr has been!

Pentagon Fri 03-May-13 08:48:35

bump do you also have a scan today? good luck to both you and jmf!

weird dream garden! they come hand in hand with pregnancy, I've had a couple myself

kat welcome and congratulations!! Where I live, you see you GP and he/she contacts the hospital, then you get a booking-in appointment between 8 and 10 weeks (chat with midwife plus bloods for blood group, rubella, HIV, hepatitis etc) then you have a scan at 12 weeks (and the combined test if you wish, for which they have to take more blood) But I believe it can differ from area to area so this may not be exactly how it's done where you live

JanieLovesCake Fri 03-May-13 08:55:33

Good luck to bump and jmf today! Hope you have the lucky socks in smile

Hi Kat! Congrats to you!

Garden and anda your dreams sound horrid sad I've had one or two myself and they're so nasty

My tummy is tweaking like a mad thing this morning, started to panic but hoping its just the little monkey growing and having a morning stretch. Maybe it didn't like the sausage and chips with gravy I HAD to have last night. I really must eat more broccoli. I'm normally a really healthy water but since being pg I'm just wanting crap and getting the guilts confused

Have a fab day everyone xxx

Aoifebelle Fri 03-May-13 09:06:44

ibip put your money away love, anyways spice girls the musical has just announced it is closing its run early.
Lucky I am not a medic, but I strongly suspect your Dr may be an arse. There are a million and one reasons for a pregnant lady to have blood in her wee. To even mention the mc word, without any further investigation is just bollocks.
Sorry for the horrid dreams ladies. I seem to either be sound asleep or.wide awake. dream sleep has disappeared.
welcome Kat and fingers crossed for lots more good scan news today.

shellshock7 Fri 03-May-13 10:04:33

DIY I hope you feel better today, sounds very tough hmm But great news passing your milestone smile

bump so glad your scan was good, hope you are a bit happier today and the hospital scan is reassuring smile

lucky sorry you're having a rough time, people can be so thoughtless with how they talk to you, I really hope it is nothing to worry abt x

Good luck jmf grin

pentagon I used cocoa butter and didn't get any stretch marks with DS so am doing the same now...it might be coincidence but it worked for me smile

garden good luck with the doppler, it can be a god send when you have some bad symptoms etc, but don't panic if you can't find it....wait till your bursting for the loo and try again smile pink will be testament to that grin

Hi katerina congrats and welcome smile

pink how many weeks will you be? I went to a gig at 38 weeks last time and it was brilliant, wouldnt of missed seeing that band smile The chances are quite high you will be late as well so you may be available for nights out till the end of Nov smile

So just had what's up there with the worst 24h of my life...picked up a bad bug from somewhere and ended up with cramps so bad I was doubling over and screaming moaning in pain, being sick and on the loo etc...was very scary hmm I doppled (all ok) then rang MW who was great, said only way you would get pain like that from baby would be ectopic and we know its not so just gotta ride it out, feel a lot better today so far but not eaten so gonna risk some dry toast for lunch and see what happens, nightmare hmm

WillSantaComeAgain Fri 03-May-13 10:42:43

Don't mock the Quo.

[I've seen them live] <<hangs head in shame>>

Feeling a bit guilty - a good friend at work who has been really open about her fertility problems with me and we've shared many a good session moaning about the unfairness of life, has just been round for a chat/moan and to tell me more woes. I know she finds it easier to talk to me because of my mcs, but I couldn't bring myself to tell her today. I know she'll be happy for me, but I also know it will secretly hurt too.

Why can't we decide which of our friends get to be pg and which don't. I have a few friends that I desparately want to have babies (one or two actually more than me) because they've been through so much pain. Oh life is so unfair for so many people. sad

Still feeling positive but also concerned that I only peeed {how many eeees in peeeeeeeed???} once last night. GP appt next Friday (earliest one I could get with the nice dr) so hopefully he'll refer me for an early scan sometime in Wk 8. Otherwise I will pay for a private one. [Did contemplate skipping the GP entirely, but DH reasoned that it was better to have one "on the record" if its available, and the GP did say I could have one after MC2.]

But its Friday, the sun is shining and a good weekend is in store. grin [will be waving at any woman walking round carrying a baking tin in case its you baking - I'm off to the same place on Sunday]

IBelieveInPink Fri 03-May-13 12:04:37

Janie- remind me how far you are? I had quite a bit more cramping when I was 10 weeks, and I have a feeling you are about a week behind. I think it quite normal.

Shell- I will be 40+5!! (hopefully). So a little over.... Will just have to see how things are going. Ah well- that would be one way to meet the band!!!
Nightmare about the bug. Glad you feeling a little better today, not good for the stress levels though! Thank goodness you already had scan!

Santa- yes!! I totally agree with comments re those having baby's that really want/deserve them, and picking friends that should. When I had my first mc, I justified it to myself in that my friend got pg at exactly the same time as me. It was her 6th pregnancy (all mcs) and my first. I justified it that I was taking one for the team, and she is now 34 weeks. smile
Life is so unfair though. You see people who really struggle getting pg who could give a happy and healthy home to a baby, then those that don't deserve it have loads! Makes me very very angry.
<<stepping off my high horse now>>

jmf294 Fri 03-May-13 12:06:27

Good scan news from me.
I went to the FMC this morning and was scanned by a lovely doctor.
One baby!!- was measuring at 8+6, so 3 days ahead.
It was even waving its arms.
I cried before the scan when the doctor asked if I was ok and just so relieved afterwards.
I have my harmony plus scan in 2 weeks and nuchal scan in 4 weeks all booked there, so lots more to worry about but for today I'm happy.

Sorry to hear how poorly you have been Shell.
Hi to everyone else and thanks for all the messages of support.
Best go as I'm having lunch out with my husband in London.

IBelieveInPink Fri 03-May-13 12:13:44

Yay jmf! So pleased smile x

Brilliant news jmf smile, hope you have a lovely lunch.

JanieLovesCake Fri 03-May-13 12:31:22

Yay jmf!! I hope uou waved back smile And enjoy your lunch!

Pink I'm 10+4 today, really throbby. I actually but the bullet and called the midwife. She said its probably muscle pain and I should go home and have a nice bath and not do anything else. Hopefully it will subside hmm it's been my first real panic.

And I would totally get a ticket and go to concert with your bump!! Maybe you could get an accessible ticket in case you need a seat? And you might get to meet them yay!!

Aoifebelle Fri 03-May-13 12:44:44

Yeah jMF I had a good feeling about today.
Had my first major craving and it was for a juicy burger. Now sitting in a burger joint on my own, and I don't care. They had just better bring it quick.

IBelieveInPink Fri 03-May-13 12:54:59

Aoife- I want your burger. I was just daydreaming about a massive juicy burger. And then you go and post that? Mmmmm.

JanieLovesCake Fri 03-May-13 13:02:50

Oh god I want one too grumbly achey tum. Mmm burger. I might take myself to a burger place too mmmm

katerinaemalina Fri 03-May-13 13:03:36

yey for j! I am going to ask for an 8 week scan (pray i get there!) as had 2x mc (though early ones) - surely they will be understanding of that?! Nearly the weekend - hoorah!

ChocolateCremeEggBag Fri 03-May-13 13:30:17

Great news JMF!!

And we had another BFP on Fertile Friday - MummytotheArkBuilder this time.

Stop talking about food - I seem to have started to get MS which I know should be a good thing - but I am a bad patient. I can only stomach Water with lemon in it, had to stop off on way home last night to get some Volvic "Touch of Lemon" as had run out of my squirty jif.

Not on the ipad so can finally addmyself to the list:

Good news jmf!

shell hope you feel better soon.

Santa shall we wear a carnation? I'm not actually going to carry a baking tin, that would be weird wink

Aoifebelle Fri 03-May-13 13:44:16

Burger dispatched. Now trying to fight off the burger induced coma (and also trying not to think that red meat craving = iron definiency - have been avoiding iron supplements as they play havoc with my movements).
Sorry Chocolate just seen your plea to stop talking about food. Oops.

DIYandEatCake Fri 03-May-13 14:05:07

Yay jmf! Wonderful news. Am jealous that you get to see the baby again in 2 weeks! Hope you had a nice lunch celebrating.

Still have that blooming migraine, though it's gradually getting better - 5 days! Managing to eat today though and no more throwing up so that's good. choc I like the idea of water with lemon, have been struggling to find anything I fancy drinking too.

Zeuxippe Fri 03-May-13 14:49:20

Hello everyone!! Happy Friday grin

jmf glad to hear the scan went well!! Congrats

Well I'm in a good mood today as I got a phone call from the midwife and even without me asking she offered to book me in for an early scan! Yay! Waiting to hear back now.

Hope you're all looking forward to a lovely weekend

BlackholesAndRevelations Fri 03-May-13 15:21:43

Glad the scan went well, jmf! Great news. Hope you had a lovely lunch. Glad ypure feeling better, DIY.

I wonder if two mc will qualify me for an early scan? How do I find out? I was thinking about booking one for eight weeks but my booking in obviously isn't til then so not sure who to contact before then, if anyone?

BlackholesAndRevelations Fri 03-May-13 15:23:07

Ps meant to say, great news about your early scan, zeux!

Pentagon Fri 03-May-13 15:37:56

great news jmf, well done!

zeux sounds like you have a lovely midwife, good luck with the early scan, let us know when it is

black my GP referred me for an early scan - I don't know if it's the GP or midwife in your area. Here's a link to the EPU website, you can search for your local hospital and see how it works (some even accept self-referrals):

shell, I'm also using cocoa butter at the moment (I put it on before I go to bed) - it's really good and smells lovely but wanted to try a second product, use it in the mornings maybe...if I remember!!

WillSantaComeAgain Fri 03-May-13 15:43:59

blackholes - I guess you'll have to try your GP. Mine seemed happy to agree to refer me (though whether the hospital will accept me, I'm not sure). Last time my MW tried to refer me and failed. Well, at least she said she'd tried.

I can see why they resist, but then surely they must understand the levels of anxiety that having had two mcs (2MMCs in my case) causes to women, and frankly if stupid women who can't work out their dates can qualify <<glares at HCP friend>> then surely we should too.

I really ought to think about booking in, as I know they like to do it at 8 weeks here, but I'm not going to a booking in until I've had a scan. I've already wasted 3 hours of my life at booking appts for nothing, I'm NOT doing it again [stamps feet]

baking - I shall mostly be walking round pushing a red icandy apple pushchair. I shall not be wearing a santa outfit.

GardenWorm Fri 03-May-13 15:44:48

Thanks peeps for the dream reassurance and Doppler tips. On my way home and the Doppler has been delivered, DH is going to think I'm barking mad but hey ho it won't be the first time! I will attempt later when DC's in bed as she has taken to calling my belly fat and I think witnessing a doppler attack may egg her on! (and before I know it she'll be telling the world!)

Congrats on your scan JMF - loving the waving skills, was there a little thumbs up too?

Sorry for dissing the Quo Santa....once when i was young i went and saw Roxette (hangs head in shame!)

Hope your Bank Holiday weekends are filled with sunshine and happiness! smile

GardenWorm Fri 03-May-13 15:46:56

Ooh where are you going Santa and Baking?

JanieLovesCake Fri 03-May-13 17:01:53

Ooh garden I'm jealous of your Friday night doppling!! My borrowed one hadn't arrived yet!
My friend texted this morning to say she was going did her first scan today at lunch time, no one else knew (except her dp) and I haven't heard from her. I'm really hoping everything went ok but worried about texting in case it wasn't hmm what would you do?

BlackholesAndRevelations Fri 03-May-13 17:05:05

Eek janie... If it was a very good friend I'd probably text "thinking of you, hope all ok xxx" but if not that close I'd probably leave it.

Thanks for advice, if I can get an nhs scan I obviously won't be paying over £100 for one! Maybe will have to see GP after all... Had avoided it but made midwife app as I know how booked up they get.

Happy doppling and happy weekend all! X

BumpKitty Fri 03-May-13 17:09:24

sorry went AWOL for a bit, 3rd scan = all still good, this baby is going to think it's a celebrity with all the pictures i have smile

Fluid round the baby looks fine and a normal amount. I should be 12+5 today but the sonographer did the head circumference measurement which said 13+2 there is no way i could be moved on 6 days (3 last time) so the baby has just got a big head = ouch!

jmf lovely news, congratulations smile
shell sorry you are feeling rough but glad your mw was reassuring and that you are on the mend
zeux that is karma for your shite GP grin
ibip if i can go to a wedding at 40+5 then a concert shouldn't be any trouble!
janie i am shit at updating people even if its good news my friends text and ask me and I don't mind - i guess you know her best. She won't answer if she doesn't want to. Fx all was well.

ChocolateCremeEggBag Fri 03-May-13 18:06:22

IBIP - was I right with Depeche Mode?
Doesn't sound like a mosh pit frenzy type concert not like the Meatloaf onces I've been to in the past. Yep I decided to share

If you are late - then might just be the thing to get you going. Or could be something to look forward to after baby is out?

Now if there was an Aerosmith concert coming up..... grin

Great scan news Bump - but scary head size.shock

IBelieveInPink Fri 03-May-13 22:50:37

Okay okay. I'll admit it. At 40+5, I will be going to see 5ive. Yes, the cheesy boyband. possibly screaming like a hormonal 14 year old
Please don't judge me. who am I kidding

IBelieveInPink Fri 03-May-13 22:51:32

<<hangs head in shame and prepares to be booted off thread>>

JanieLovesCake Fri 03-May-13 23:05:42

Lucky you pink!! Get the ticket! (Although wont be the same without jay) Don't panic about your reputation, my friend is trying to convince me to go to the big reunion. There it's out, sad and proud!! grin

JanieLovesCake Fri 03-May-13 23:07:00

Oh and my friend texted to say her scan went well! She thought she was 10 and half weeks (same as me( but actually 12!! So she's winning the race!!

Congrats in your scan today bump smile

IBelieveInPink Fri 03-May-13 23:09:21

Haha! Janie I went to the big reunion when it was filmed for the tv show. It was so good, felt young again! Funniest thing was, there weren't many kids there, it was all ladies in later 20s early 30s. So much fun!

BumpKitty Sat 04-May-13 07:10:56

Ah, a tiny ibip brought in to the world to the sound of 5ive, so which one will you name him (or her!) after? grin

Zeuxippe Sat 04-May-13 07:53:58

Morning everyone! Hope you're all enjoying the bank holiday weekend - there are rumours of sun! grin

Anyway the update from my midwife is that sadly there are no free scan slots until the end of May. If I bleed I can be seen straightaway though, and she's given me the number for that. So in the light of that, and my advanced age (40) I've decided to book in at the Fetal Medicine Centre like jmf and get the combined Harmony/Nuchal done there instead. First scan booked for 24th May!!

Please could someone update my stats:

Zeux: 1DD, 1MC, EDD 14th Dec, first scan 24th May

Thank you!!

Lucky13ForBaby Sat 04-May-13 08:03:50

Ou I loved the big reunion blush lots of good memories. Bit of 911 lol. Zeux wished I'd been more organised and gone with the FMC too. I would pay I think if the risk came back high. I had a nasty midwife the other day who did nothing to treasure me! Glad I'm seeing someone else next time! I notice that in a second baby visits to midwife are much less. Not good for those with anxiety issues and total loons like me! Happy bank holiday peeps. Not looking so sunny here right now!

Lucky13ForBaby Sat 04-May-13 08:04:23

Reassure not treasure!

Bakingtins Sat 04-May-13 08:17:16

Garden we're going to watch the cross country at Badminton Horse Trials.

Santa I will be the harrassed looking person with 2yr old, 6 yr old, husband, best friend and 2 dogs (cocker and terrier) in tow, probably lugging a picnic, wellies, sunhats and emergency pants (for the 2 yr old, not me!) Have a good day!

IBelieveInPink Sat 04-May-13 08:31:05

Bump - not sure I would use any of 5ives names!! Would maybe use Sean, I think that is a nice boy name. But just because of the connection I couldn't bring myself to do it!!

Can we talk about body shape today please ladies? I am a little confused.
So usually, I am top end of 'normal' weight, but I'm lucky in that I am hourglass shape and carry it well.
Since being pg, dispite eating the world, I first of all dropped a couple of pounds (which must have been a couple more realistically as some of the weight moved to my boobs!) since then I have put back on a couple, and maybe gained an extra 2. So not extreme. However, it has all gone on my waist! It isn't baby, as is too high to be baby. So why all on my waist when I never usually carry weight there?

If actually, it is just me getting fatter and eating too much, please just tell me to shut up. I don't mind if it is. But I was just curious if there was any connection to pregnancy hormones? Or am I clutching at straws?!

Vocalista86 Sat 04-May-13 08:51:57

Jmf yay for your scan and for jumping a few days ahead

shell are you feeling any better today? Hope so!

So last night I dopplerd on a full bladder and heard the HB clear as day at 10 weeks! 160bpm yay little bean you're still there!! So then I started the lovely baby book I bought called bump to birthday - its so pretty and has bits for mum & dad to write. I'm feeling possitive! (even the I dopplerd this morning as soon as I woke up and baby was hiding).

Happy Bank holiday weekend everyone smile

Vocalista86 Sat 04-May-13 08:52:39

Though not the!

GardenWorm Sat 04-May-13 09:04:49

5ive? ibip you are young! Tee hee! Oh and yep you do lose the waist line first (annoying really!).

....well I tried the Doppler and may just try a sea shell next time! Lol! I'll be honest I don't think the bladder was full maybe better luck next time (or just listen to a sea shell!) Ha Ha! Well done Vocal!

IBelieveInPink Sat 04-May-13 09:08:33

Damn! Though that might be the case, so annoying!!

Vocal - yay for doppler fun!
Garden- don't let it get to you. Lol at the idea of trying with a seashell though! smile

Not feel very positive today, have tummy cramps of which i don't remember having with my full pregnancies. Hoping it is nothing, but for some reason i know this isn't good. I have no bleeding, just cramps. Are cramps normal or not? sad
My nipples are still sore, still have tiredness and slight nausea but i cant fathom how these cramps can be normal. I'm only 6 weeks at most so i know if i go along to the epu they'll either turn me away or the scan will not show much.
I suppose this is a waiting game to see if I'm miscarrying again or not sad

BlackholesAndRevelations Sat 04-May-13 16:29:25

Oh pumpkin sad I'm sure cramps are ok if there's no bleeding. Do they feel like period cramps? Because there will be all sorts of stretching/moving etc, but i knew there was sonething wrong when my cramps were like period ones. Fingers crossed there remains no bleeding, and that your bean stays put xxxx

(ps- I've just started getting mild cramps too. Fingers crossed for both of us. flowers)

Thankyou blackholes for reassuring me, fx for you too x

katerinaemalina Sat 04-May-13 17:34:42

I've got back ache which I'm stressing about as that's usually an AF sign for me. I also have mild cramps on and off but do feel slightly different to period ones. Holding both yr hands xx

andadietcoke Sat 04-May-13 17:52:38

pumpkin, blackholes and katerina - for me, the cramps, and the backache were normal, and have continued to be normal. The weekend I was 6w I spent in bed crying because I was so sure I was miscarrying. I too, couldn't believe I could feel like that and everything could be okay. So far, it has. Drink lots of water and take some paracetamol, and wait it out. With miscarriages (apparently, and it was my experience), normally the cramping comes after the bleeding starts. Hold on to that - today you are pregnant xxx

katerinaemalina Sat 04-May-13 18:15:56

Thank u xxx

BlackholesAndRevelations Sat 04-May-13 18:41:11

Thank you from me too xxx seems we're all going through exactly the same feelings and fears... So good to be able to share. Fingers crossed for you too katerina xxx

Pentagon Sat 04-May-13 20:30:10

Zeux well done on booking at the FMC - they'll take good care of you there, everyone's lovely!

pumpkin, blackholes and katerina - with my 2 missed miscarriages I had no pain or cramping whatsoever. With my 1 successful pregnancy and this one (14 weeks at the moment, so far so good) I've had pain, cramping and brown discharge...for me these symptoms have actually been reassuring this time!

Vocal congratz on finding the heartbeat at 10w! Yay!

Vocalista86 Sat 04-May-13 20:35:27

Thanks Pentagon! grin

Pumpkin, blackholes & katerina I really do think that things are all growing and changing shape so some cramping is entirely normal!!

Ladies I feel so so fat today!! Def no bump but so much bloat, K Middy never had this.... am I alone?!

IBelieveInPink Sun 05-May-13 00:47:48

Nope vocal, not alone. I have had massive bloating. Is the most vile and Unglamourous thing ever!

Ladies who are cramping - I have had lots of cramping all the way through. I had not much with either mc until it actually kicked off. It does actually, when you are being rational, feel like stretching pains, although I know I was in tears and on here many a time!
Mine tends to be worse when I have been stood up too long or am very tired. Have been at a wedding tonight, so have had both! And yet more cramping. Be reassured, it is so common, and probably won't stop for a bit. Try and rest when you can.

I have just noticed it is after midnight and I therefore officially 12 weeks. Eek!

BlackholesAndRevelations Sun 05-May-13 07:23:28

Thank you all. Cramps eased off now after a good nights sleep, and no blood... Hopefully that's it.

Katerina and pumpkin- how are you both this morning?

Glad the cramps have eased for you blackholes and how are you this morning katerina?
Mine had eased, thankfully no blood, but i let out a huge sneeze this morning and it caused me to get a stabbing pain. I have read up about round ligament pain, but cant see how a 6wk pregnancy could cause such a thing?
I have had 4dc, so I'm wondering if it has took its toll on my ligaments around my womb-well i am hoping it is that as i don't even want to be thinking it's anything other than that.

Lucky13ForBaby Sun 05-May-13 08:22:56

Great that the cramping has calmed down ladies. I have also had it on and off throughout. Hope you are ok katerina? Well I am officially 11 weeks today! 7 more days until scan day! Am so petrified that I will go and have a MMC. Sickness seems to have calmed down last few days which is worrying me. Where is the sunshine? No sign here in the midlands / shires! Hope you are all having a nice bank holiday weekend and ladies at the horse trials had fun .

ChocolateCremeEggBag Sun 05-May-13 08:37:49

Morning all, glad the cramps have eased off Blackholes & Pumpkin, hope same for Katerina - know what you mean about sneezing, I have the end of a cough and have to hold my tummy when coughing as everything tenses up. I guess you have just inadvertently pulled something when you sneezed but it's all high alert down there isn't it!

DM is here for the weekend, she guessed I was pg before I managed to tell her. She thinks it's a girl, based on my feeling more sick this time (and hefty dose of wishful thinking)
Anyone else had the gender prediction thing going on yet? DH was obsessed with the Chinese Baby calendar last time

Lucky13ForBaby Sun 05-May-13 08:59:34

My Gp thinks I'm having a girl because more sick this time. What's a Chinese baby calender?

JanieLovesCake Sun 05-May-13 10:29:56

oooh happy 12 weeks ibip!!!! congratulations! are you planning on going public? eek!!

and happy 11 weeks lucky!!! i am 11 weeks tomorrow, next saturday scan day can't come soon enough. i'm petrified for the same reason. any time i think something bad might have happened, i try to thing that maybe, just maybe, there's a chance that things could actually be ok fx!

i was at a wedding yesterday too, got mega crampy for the second day in a row and being forced to dance didn't help. hope it's just the stretchy monkey in there. also keep getting the most awful pains after i eat. sorry for the TMI but i actually think i might die if i can't fart. i'm belching like a pig and am in agony waiting to try to pass the wind. is that indigestion? i've never suffered from it but oh my god it's awful. it would actually put me off going out for dinner as it's so uncomfortable. i'm also with you on the bloating, but moreso later in the day. how glam is this!

IBelieveInPink Sun 05-May-13 11:23:55

Janie - oh so glam. With you on the wind too. It's no fun.

I'm not going public yet. Parents and a few very close friends know, that's it. Scan on Tuesday. Once I have a happy scan, and a happy test result, we will start telling a few more people. But going to keep it hidden from work for as long as I possibly can, so no big Facebook announcements or anything!
Scan in 1 day, 21 hours and 39 minutes. Can't go quickly enough!

IBelieveInPink Sun 05-May-13 11:25:32

Oh, an I have done a few gender predictor things, wedding ring over the tummy etc. most say girl, a couple say boy. I'm having girl feelings, but could be wrong. Guess all have a 50/50 chance of being right!

katerinaemalina Sun 05-May-13 11:29:16

Yup still ok thanks for asking. No cramps but mild back ache as yesterday. No spotting at all so am just holding breath and trying to think positive (though also preparing for worst still confused) glad others cramps have eased but reassuring to know its ok to get them and doesn't need to mean bad stuff is happening.

Well done on those nearing or reaching 12 wk mark. I long for that day xx

Congrats lucky & ibip And others who are near, at or past the 12w mark, cant wait to get there so my mind is at rest!
Still no bleeding, or many cramps so trying to remain positive that i am still pregnant for today and anything after today is a blessing.
Hope you are all having a happy sunny Sunday, the weather is beautiful here smile going to have dinner in the garden today and put the dc bouncy castle up smile

katerinaemalina Sun 05-May-13 14:56:33

Can I ask a dumb q? My cycles are normally 5 weeks not 4. So would that mean I'm now 5 weeks preg or 6?! (Found out a week ago was preg on what was my day of AF)
Thanks! And hope u all enjoying bh xx

andadietcoke Sun 05-May-13 21:13:14

katerina it goes from the first day of your last period, regardless of how long your cycles are. Then it might get adjusted at the dating scan.

GaryBuseysTeeth Sun 05-May-13 21:40:51

pumpkin, hope you remain positive....bouncy castle sounds like a lovely idea!
<hand holding for any of the worriers reading this>

Lucky, congrats on 11wks! Happy 12wks IBIP! Can I add that I'm 26+1 today, so very close to the third(!) trimester!!

Janie, hope you're feeling a little better!

Chocolate, Chinese Gender Prediction has been wrong for both my pregnancies! Although some of the old wives tales came true with DS...having said that never had heartburn & he was a very hairy baby!

RE.weight gain, IBIP, I'm an hourglass too & put it on, on my waist before it evened out everywhere.
I've put on over the recommended weight gain with all 3 pg (including my 6wk mc), I seem to put on half a stone just getting a bfp!

I so wanted to marry Scott when I was younger, although Abs is a great boys name grin

Hope everyone has the day off tomorrow & has a lovely day!

ChocolateCremeEggBag Sun 05-May-13 21:49:12

There are lots of them about but here is a link to one basically Chinese baby calendar is a chart which takes your age and the month you conceived to predict gender. It was right for DS and for DH and I, plus also a lot of our friends.

Says we are having a boy though which doesn't fit with my mums theory so we shall see

Katerina - if first day of you last period was on a Monday, the following Monday you are 1 week, the next 2 weeks and so on. It doesn't matter when you ov or how long cycles are. This is how you are dated before 12 week scan. The scan is then used to revise your due date (and therefore working backwards how many weeks pg you are) you Mw will probably have a wheel to work out the times when you book in and in your next checks.

IBelieveInPink Sun 05-May-13 21:58:35

Gary - congrats on the almost 3rd trimester!
And thanks for the comments on weight gain. Good to know it may even out slightly, I look a little ridiculous at the moment!

Getting very very scared about my scan on Tuesday now. DH brought up the fact that baby measured smaller than we thought it should be at the early scan we had (not meaning to scare me) and managed to terrify me that baby hasn't been growing properly! Argh!

BumpKitty Mon 06-May-13 07:00:09

ibip it is just the pre-scan doom, I even got it on Friday when I had seen the baby perfectly happy the day before! It means naaathing, and as for the baby measuring small you really have no idea how long fertilisation and implantation took, (they can all be hanging around for ages up there before anything happens!) and... I got moved back two days at my early scan then on 3 days at my 12 week one. It'll all be good, I have very good vibes about this one grin

Oh and yes, my torso looks like a tree trunk (i.e. no waist) this is why all my trousers are now packed away and I have unpacked some maternity ones - which look really tatty! I guess I wore them a lot more than I realised.

gary happy nearly third trimester!

choc I deffo feel more sick this time but I already have a girl, and chinese calendar sys she should have been a boy!

BumpKitty Mon 06-May-13 07:06:33

Actually I just checked again on our link choc and it was right for DD! Ooh what are the chances! <laughs at own crap joke> and it says this one is a girl too. I don't mind what I have but I have no experience with baby boy parts shock

BlackholesAndRevelations Mon 06-May-13 07:19:44

Congrats on third trimesters ladies! Chinese predictor thing is wrong for both of my dc so taking it with a pinch of salt! Haha.

Happy to say cramps have gone smile

Hope you all have a wonderful sunny bank holiday Monday!

katerinaemalina Mon 06-May-13 09:13:09

Thanks for advice ladies smile x

BlackholesAndRevelations Mon 06-May-13 09:21:39

Katerina- where I am, they only change due date if you're out by more than seven days at the scan. Otherwise it's as others gave said, 40 weeks from day of last period. You might find you go "over" even though you technically haven't as you have long cycles, if that makes sense?! Glad you're feeling a bit better today smile

IBelieveInPink Mon 06-May-13 09:26:00

Thanks bump. I like that, scan doom!

Shame about the trousers, will they do, or does this mean a whole new wardrobe is required? <<rubs hands in glee like evil villan from disney or some such>> I'm Looking forward to being able to invest in some slightly looser tops. If I have good news tomorrow, the shopping trip is already planned for next Saturday!

Bakingtins Mon 06-May-13 09:36:38

Kat what the others said is correct, but I'd prepare yourself to be moved back at scans and not to freak if that happens. Do you know where in your cycle you ovulate? If you ovulate around day 21 and have a 14 day ish luteal phase then you will be a week behind where your LMP dates will put you. A lot of the due date calculators will let you adjust your EDD depending on cycle length.

(and I think that might make us due date buddies too - I got a BFP last Monday day after my period was due but have 30-31 day cycles so reckon I'm due Jan 6th and am 5+1)

JanieLovesCake Mon 06-May-13 10:28:07

kat i was in the same dilemma as you - i had 50 day cycles so approx 7 weeks. When i went for my booking in / first scan appointment they thought i would be 11 ish weeks although i was only 8, so on the plus side it meant i got an early scan. i think for your own timings, count back 4 weeks from your AF due date and that would be about right.

gary happy nearly 3rd trimester smile

ibip you would be abnormal if you weren't nervous about tomorrow. just remember the socks smile

bump glad i'm not the only one turning into a treetrunk. and a gassy one at that. we have our scan on saturday morning so if things go well i might buy some new clothes in the afternoon smile

i did the chinese predictor. apparently i'm having a boy!

IBelieveInPink Mon 06-May-13 11:03:44

Janie - socks? What were the rules? <<panics about finding appropriate 'lucky socks'>>

andadietcoke Mon 06-May-13 11:12:05

The Chinese calendar thingummy says boy for me - guess we'll wait and see! DH has just about come round to the idea of two girls, so that would be interesting.

ibip I can't remember about the socks - did someone's have squirrels on?!

JanieLovesCake Mon 06-May-13 11:12:48

Oh well my personal favourites were my socks that had foxes and squirrels and bunnies on them, lucky had ducks on hers I think. Mainly a novelty animal/bird sock seems to do the trick ;)

IBelieveInPink Mon 06-May-13 11:16:31

I have cat socks. Hoping this will suffice?

JanieLovesCake Mon 06-May-13 11:19:49

Pooh cat socks would be purrrfect grin

JanieLovesCake Mon 06-May-13 11:20:04

Pooh?! Ooooh*

Bootyluscious Mon 06-May-13 13:40:53

Hello all - hope you are all well and having a lovely BH weekend

Congrats to all the scans and new BFPs!

Just plodding along on my end - now 7 and a bit weeks and feeling a bit crappy if I'm honest every day, like having a bloody hangover every morning bleuughhh. Feeling sicky and every time I eat something that's it, I can't face it the next day - rapidly running out of choice of food grin funnily enough though Magnum ice creams seem to be ok phewy grin

Heard the heartbeat last week which was pretty ace - the nurse was pointing out the baby and I couldn't see a thing it was so small!

Hope everyone is feeling well - just a quick hello xxx

GardenWorm Mon 06-May-13 20:14:56

Hello all - good weekends? Poss too much info but sat on the loo peeing for England but will be worth getting up 5 times in the night as I do believe I just heard babies heartbeat on the Doppler....either that or I will dead imminently as I don't think mine should be that fast! grin

IBelieveInPink Mon 06-May-13 21:02:26

Aww garden that's fab news! Yay! You must be well chuffed. smile

GardenWorm Mon 06-May-13 21:26:18

Yep grin I am feeling pretty smug! How long till your scan?

Bodicea Mon 06-May-13 21:52:39

Hello hope everyone has had fab weekends, I have my dating/ nt scan tommorrow and kacking myself! On holiday on wed for two weeks, yay. But praying I get good result as will spend whole holiday worrying.
Will be wearing spotty socks x

BlackholesAndRevelations Mon 06-May-13 22:01:52

Good luck Bod and pink for your scans tomorrow! Still haven't brought myself to book an early scan- dp doesn't see the point!! I do but kind of think over £100 is too much money for us at the mo. sad

booty- I had no idea you could hear the heartbeat so early! That's amazing! Was it at an early scan? Sooo tempted. Well done Garden too on the successful doppling smile

IBelieveInPink Mon 06-May-13 22:03:19

Garden - 11 hours. Absolutely shitting myself terrified. Don't think I will be sleeping much tonight.

Ooh bod- scan buddy. Bestest good luck wishes to you.

Bodicea Mon 06-May-13 22:07:10

Good luck to you too pink xxxx

JanieLovesCake Mon 06-May-13 22:28:40

Ooh good luck bod and pink smile glad you've got the socks sorted smile and happy holiday bod (in case I forget to say so tmro)! Lucky you!!

And yay for Doppler noise garden! Nice one!!! Mine should be with me at the end of the week

I've spent the whole day in bed with a yuk sore throat, hot cold kinda head coldy bug sad DH has been great and cleaned the bathroom and brought me nice snacks and drinks all day. just had a nice bath followed by clean bed sheets and jammies and hoping I don't feel like this tmro. Honey and lemon isn't as good as a good old lemsip but I'm happy to replace if it means I'll get a baby smile

Night night all xxxx

Goodluck bod & pink for your scans tomorrow!!
Hope you feel better soon janie thanks
Wow for getting a heartbeat so soon booty didn't know a doppler could work so early smile
May think of getting one for myself soon, bet dh will think I'm a nutter though!

ChocolateCremeEggBag Mon 06-May-13 22:49:01

Good luck for tomorrow's scans bod & IBIP flowers

Just read Janies post - does "Doppler noise garden" sound like a cool name for a band? Or just me?

Maybe just me....grin

Going to bed.

GardenWorm Tue 07-May-13 05:59:13

Ooh Happy Scan Day IBIP and Bod (full of posifrickintivity!). Hope yours is nice and early too Bod? Will try and pop in later this morning to check up but it's not so easy at work. Did you get any sleep?

Choc I haven't got a musical bone in my body but I am willing to donate some Doppler noise (and sea shell to ear recordings which can be very similar) to the cause grin

GardenWorm Tue 07-May-13 06:01:05

p.s hope you're feeling better today Janie x

Lucky13ForBaby Tue 07-May-13 07:11:36

Indeed happy scan day IBIP and Bod . Will be thinking of you. Hope you are on the mend Janie. I seem to have the start of DH and DS cold! Boo to gerwm

Lucky13ForBaby Tue 07-May-13 07:13:48

Oops pressed post! Boo to germs! Am very envy of you all with dopplers. I've got nasty stich type pain and want to check all is ok . Scan Saturday. Am already petrified!

IBelieveInPink Tue 07-May-13 07:36:27

Thanks ladies. Actually petrified. Hardly slept. Have all sorts going through my head right now. At least will be out of this misery one way or another soon.
Janie - boo to germs indeed! Boo!

andadietcoke Tue 07-May-13 08:04:51

Happy sunny scan day bod and ibip grin

Bakingtins Tue 07-May-13 08:15:42

Good luck to IBIP and bod.
Janie hope you are feeling better today.
Santa did you have a good day at Badminton? We had a great time but couldn't believe the size of the crowd. Last time we went it was nowhere near as busy.

Had a lovely day yesterday on a family cycle ride down to sit by the river and have a pub lunch. It't the furthest we've managed since 6yr old was under his own steam but he did really well.
Has anyone else found that time has gone so s-l-o-w-l-y since you knew you were pregnant? I can't believe I'm only 5 weeks, it feels like forever already. 2 weeks to wait for a scan seems like an eternity.

Aoifebelle Tue 07-May-13 08:49:25

ibip and
good luck with your scans. I woke up feeling very positive this am so bouncing some your way.
I think I can feel something different in my abdomen just above my pelvis. Could this be my uterus or am I just imagining it?

BlackholesAndRevelations Tue 07-May-13 10:01:08

aoifebell no I feel it too, just above my pubic bone! It's how I knew I was pregnant, each time. It does seem to be growing a bit too smile happy positive day! X

IBelieveInPink Tue 07-May-13 10:15:18

Can't believe it. One wriggly baby present and correct. Even showing slightly bigger so due date moved forward by a day. So happy smile

Vocalista86 Tue 07-May-13 10:25:51

IBIP Congratulations, that's such lovely news! Good luck for your scan Bod smile

Last night I found baby's HB with the doppler straight away and listened and listened, it's kind of hypnotising! Measuring about 170BPM (perhaps a girl?! which is in line with the Chines gender prediction I did yesterday). I even called DH to come and listen by sending a text to him in the living room 'come quick' - he thought I'd collapsed or something, bless him, his face when he came charging through the door... but when he heard the HB he grinned and it was so lovely.

IBelieveInPink Tue 07-May-13 10:35:27

Ooh which way round does the heartbeat thing go? Is it quick for a boy or girl?
That's lovely vocal, its really reassuring isn't it smile

Wonderful news pink smile!!
Voca, wow sounds exciting. Getting so jealous of all these dopplers envy, from how many weeks do they work?

GaryBuseysTeeth Tue 07-May-13 11:09:10

Congrats IBIP!!
Vocalista, Garden, hurrah for Doppler hb's!
pumpkin, this is my 2nd DC & the Doppler picked up a hb from around 9-10wks, however I couldn't find it with DS until after 20wks so it may not be the most reassuring thing in the world!

Good luck for today Bod! <rubs luck socks>

Chocolate, I think Doppler noise garden sound like an ace band. They could release the singles Fannymasons & Pooh cat socks grin

Bakingtins Tue 07-May-13 11:46:03

Great news IBIP grin

GardenWorm Tue 07-May-13 11:55:51

YES! YES! YES! To ibip! X

Phoned my gps surgery today to get me on the midwifes books, only to be told it cant be done over the phone. I have to go there and fill in a 'pregnancy encounter form' grin, and then that will be forwarded to the midwife who will then phone me with an appointment to see me at home. Cant remember all this with my dc, seriously a pregnancy encounter form??!! I nearly chuckled myself silly when the receptionist said it grin. Will do it tomorrow, and hope the midwife doesn't phone me whilst my mother is here, as no-one knows except dh and sis yet!

andadietcoke Tue 07-May-13 12:31:38

ibip yay! Brilliant news. Have you got lots of photos?

I think they say faster for girls - at the private scan at 11w they were both in the late 160s and my mum said then that meant they were two girls, but my friend's boy had a faster HB than her girl, so don't think it's an exact science.

I still really really want a Doppler [stamps feet]

IBelieveInPink Tue 07-May-13 12:38:31

Yeah got a few photos, some very clear ones too! Thanks for all the congrats ladies. Never thought I would get here. Can't stop smiling!!

Ooh and if heartbeat is anything to go by- it'll be a girl then. 181 bmp. Wow. And I have been having distinct girl feelings too. Eek!

Vocalista86 Tue 07-May-13 12:52:49

Pumpkin a pregnancy encounter form?! Sounds like something out of a science fiction movie smile Also I picked up the HB for the first time at 9w6d but I'd been trying for about 10 days previous to that every few days. It can sometimes take 15 mins to find it though, determination is key!

Pink could you see fingers and toes and everything? thanks

IBelieveInPink Tue 07-May-13 13:08:04

Vocal - yep! Fingers and toes. Actually have one picture which is just baby's hand waving to us. Damnit it is very hard to concentrate at work this afternoon!!!

JanieLovesCake Tue 07-May-13 13:19:01

Yay ibip!!!!! Super fab news!!! And waving at you too, what a nicey smile brill!! I bet you're on cloud 9!!

And living the band name and song title suggestions!!! Maybe there'll be a new girl band (ie us!)

Thanks for the well wishes, feeling slightly better today but still groggy, in work and downing the honey and lemon!

DIYandEatCake Tue 07-May-13 13:23:14

Woop pink you've done it! Really pleased for you. Good luck bodicea today too.

Just trying to catch up on everyone's news, been away for a few days visiting family and there are just a few more pages here grin. It's nice to be home again, although it was lovely to see everyone we're all a bit tired and grumpy and need some rest now. Poor dd was carsick everywhere just a few minutes before we got home, really struggled with the smell cleaning it all up!

Still plodding along here, 9 weeks Thursday, eep! I've just found out that sil is expecting a baby too with exactly the same due date (15 dec), v happy for them but feeling a bit guilty that my first thought was 'oh no, what if it goes wrong for one of us?'

Hi ladies

Can I tentatively join you?

I was on the support after miscarriage thread and got my BFP on Friday so I am only about 4 weeks. I am SO NERVOUS about everything - I wish i could be all perky and excited like when i was pregnant with DS but I am just terrified - I knew nothing about miscarriage or what could go when pregnant with him - ignorance really is bliss sometimes!!

I have taken loads of tests over the weekend all of which have shown a positive result however the result line is never as dark as the control line??? I have also taken a Clearblue digital which said 'pregnant 1-2 weeks' so i know there is something in there!!

I have been to my Drs today and they are testing my HCG and progesterone levels and I also have to go back on Thursday to make sure they are doubling. The Dr did say to me that the faintness of the line has no bearing on the healthiness of the pregnancy which has reassured me a bit.

I will be getting a scan at 8 weeks but that seems like a lifetime away!!

Sorry for the long post ladies xxx

Aoifebelle Tue 07-May-13 13:44:09

Woo Hooo Pink. I knew today was going to be a good day.
pumpkin can you scan in and post the 'pregnancy encounter form'? I would love to know the questions - 'When did you encounter the pregnancy?', 'What did the pregnancy look like?' 'How would you describe the encounter?' 'How long did the encounter last?'

Got to the bottom of OH's sulkiness - wondering if anyone else is encountering this and has come up with anything to help. He is feeling a bit left out as I pretty much come home from work eat and fall asleep - not much craic at the mo. Sex life has also seriously dropped off which isn't helping. He also earns alot less than me and his provider genes seem to have kicked in big time. We had a good chat, and I think he is a bit more reassured, but I just want to make sure that I am doing what I can so that he feels involved, appreciated and loved.
Any ideas?

BlackholesAndRevelations Tue 07-May-13 13:48:43

Great news pink!!

Welcome mummy, I'm so pleased for you! Remind me (if you don't mind) of your history? I'm still wondering if I might be able to get an early scan after two miscarriages but a doctors appointment is like bloody gold dust and I haven't been able to get one yet sad just managed to arrange a telephone one for next Tuesday. I will be out with friends so god knows how I'm going to talk openly about what I want to talk about!! Anyway once again welcome to the thread!

Ho hum! Hope everyone's having a lovely day. Soooo don't want to go to work tomorrow!
