mumoftwoboysS Sun 21-Apr-13 21:12:42

I've been on the ttc #3 thread but now feel I should join a new one! Just tested today and still in shock!

If there is another thread I'd be keen to stick my head in and say hi

beckie90 Sun 21-Apr-13 21:16:44

You could try the antenatal groups for the month you will be due smile

Congratulations smile I'm also expecting Dc3 or ds3 rather lol xx

mumoftwoboysS Sun 21-Apr-13 21:25:56

Thanks beckie90- congrats to you too! How far are you? Can I ask what your other children are? As you can see from my nickname I already have two boys! OH is really keen on a girl this time but hey that really is out of our hands!

I'll check out the antenatal thread, thanks.

Fuckwittery Sun 21-Apr-13 21:28:17

Hello, I'm due no 3 at end of oct, have 2 girls and don't really mind what I have. Dh wants a boy though! Not sure how the dynamics of 3 are going to pan out.....

beckie90 Sun 21-Apr-13 21:35:39

I'm 24+1, have 2 boys and having our 3rd boy. We did also think it would be nice to have a little girl this time, but was happy either way, we are super happy to be having another boy they are so loving smile xx

mumoftwoboysS Sun 21-Apr-13 21:42:47

ah, there's a few of us out there then! Fuckwittery I'm not sure about the dynamics either....worried I won't be able to stretch myself enough to give them all attention, but then my two play so well together now (mostly) that I'm a bit surplus to their 'play' requirements anyway! So hopefully that'll give me time to tend to the new baby.

Beckie- I'd be happy to have another boy too though I do find the house can be a bit manic and noisy sometimes!!

I feel like I've got so far compared to you lot- I'm about 5 weeks I suppose- will have to wait till first scan to know what due date they work out...

FW are you going to find out what you're having? We didn't with both ours but this time we might as we have a loft full of stuff and it'd be great to sort it out in advance- but then no surprise!

beckie90 Sun 21-Apr-13 22:08:40

I know lol my house is constantly noisy, they spend most of there time fighting my 2 lol. We wasnt going to find out, but I decided I needed to cause my gut was really telling me I was having a girl and I became abit obsessed and wanted to actually buy pink things lol, so I thought it was best to find out for sure, so I did when I had a 16wk scan

dexterpat Sun 21-Apr-13 23:07:08

We are expecting dc3 too! Complete surprise found out at 14wks!! Ds1 is 5 and ds2 is 2 - will be finding out the gender I'd be happy with either although I think a boy would be simpler logistics wise!! Ds1 is ecstatic he really wants a sister ds2 has just worked out that a baby is in my tummy ( I just hope there is less of a challenge between having 2 kids to having 3!!!)

Fuckwittery Mon 22-Apr-13 07:39:21

I didn't find out with my first two but am a bit tempted to get my head round a boy if that's what it is this time. Dd1 (6) wants a girl as boy babies have smelly poos apparently! Dd1 was brilliant when dd2 was borne when she was just 3, dd2 will be 3.5 when this one is born but she is a lot more clingy and a mummy's girl so I'm worried there will be some jealously. Also dd1 really wants to help me lots with looking after the new baby but I think she'll be pushing dd2 away from the baby and just see the two of them fighting over my attention and the baby!!

My only reservation about finding out this time is that dh will be devastated if its not a boy and I don't want him to spend the rest of the pregnancy feeling disappointed! I'm sure he'll be fine when the baby is here, whatever we have. I'd quite like a house of girls!

Ours was a surprise too dexterpat, failed map! We will have similar age gaps. Mine are just 6 and nearly 3. Mumoftwoboys and becky90, how old are your boys?

Anyone else got no baby stuff at all? I gave it all away! Hoping someone will pass the kindness on and give me some stuff! Also no maternity clothes and at 13 weeks and weak stomach muscles I'm struggling to do up my jeans and need to get some pronto!

mumoftwoboysS Mon 22-Apr-13 10:06:32

Congrats Dexterpat- I'm kind of jealous you found out so late- I have the first tri as it drags and you've got nothing to show for it! I always seem to find out so early....and now the wait for the first wave of nausea (I always get nausea tho not so bad I'm chucking up constantly)

mine are 4 and 2 - eldest was seriously jealous when youngest came along and it lasted basically until he could play with him (then he realised he could be his friend rather than an enemy taking all mummy's time!) Not sure how they'll be with dc3 though I think eldest will be nice this time now he's older and understands, younger is a bit of a mummy's boy so may have to deal with the jealousy all over again!

That's a good point FW- OH will also be a bit gutted if it's another boy and I don't want him being disappointed (though I know it won't matter as soon as baby is born as he'll fall completely in love with him) I'm worried I might be a bit disappointed if it's not a girl....I know a baby is a blessing and I'm so happy we can have another, but for some reason I've always thought I'd have a girl and it'd be nice to do girl things with one child whilst the boys do something with dad! But having said that, it's the personality that counts!

We got rid of some baby stuff then I started thinking about another so we kept some too! I'm hoping we can borrow or acquire stuff from friends - if not the'res a great baby & children's market that we have every few months round here where mum's sell off their stuff so you can get some bargains. I have both boys and girls clothes (donated from friends in the past) in the loft so if we find out at 2nd scan we can at least sort them out and get rid of lots! Also kept maternity clothes but don't have loads and what i have is a bit worn out so may have to shop for a bit more... ;-)

When did you tell family/friends?? I'm not sure how long I can wait....maybe a few more weeks. OH was so strict with first baby (more anxiety/superstition perhaps being first time) and we waited till after 12wk scan. No way I can wait that long....

Twinklestarstwinklestars Mon 22-Apr-13 11:28:52

I'm nearly 28 weeks with dc3, currently have 2 boys, didn't find out this time, only 12 weeks to go! Am sick of being told I must want a girl, we would be happy whatever but the ds' would quite like another brother but will see. Got a def boys name but can't decide on middle name and think we've decided for a girl. Wish July would hurry up!

WentOnABearHunt Mon 22-Apr-13 12:01:32

i am 15 weeks with number 3. I have two boys... We are having a scan next week to see what gender it is (mostly cos its my OH's first and he is soooo excited and wants to see baby again, bless him smile). It both feels like it has been dragging by yet at the same time i cant belive i am 15 weeks already! pregnancy is odd like that lol smile

mumoftwoboysS Mon 22-Apr-13 13:35:17

oh god, just did one of those due date calculators and it worked out as 23rd December! I thought it'd be a January baby. Poor thing having an xmas birthday- oops!

beckie90 Mon 22-Apr-13 13:46:09

FW my boys are 4.4yrs and 2 today smile there will be 2.4yr gap between each of mine.

mumof2 ds1 birthday is on 20th of December he loves having it close to Christmas Haha I on the other hand find it a right pain in the bottom, lots of money all at once. And I told no one other then dp and his mum until 20wks, I was scared hmm xx

Twinklestarstwinklestars Mon 22-Apr-13 14:01:39

My ds2 was born 27th dec and I have to say I feel sorry for him, only us and a few friends and 1 uncle remembered or got him a card. He's only 3 at the moment so doesn't really understand but its not very nice for him, ds1 gets remembered by all family etc.

mumoftwoboysS Mon 22-Apr-13 15:30:55

oh no sad my other boys are Jan and March birthdays so all in winter time! And I found DC2's birthday hasn't really been remembered as much by friends- I guess once you have one kid the novelty wears off! Oh well, I can't do anything about it now! Maybe he/she will be really late!....

mumoftwoboysS Mon 22-Apr-13 15:31:44

Twinkle- I'm bracing myself too for all those -oh you must want a girl then- comments. I'm getting annoyed just thinking about it!

<sticks head in door>

I'm 8 weeks with No3!
Very excited, and happy...with a side order of terror and dread. confused

shelley72 Mon 22-Apr-13 17:33:26

29 weeks here with DC3.
it will be fine.
i hope think.

holidaysdistantmemory Mon 22-Apr-13 19:47:46

Two dcs, 4 (ds) and 2 (DD) and I am pregnant with baby number 3 AND 4...twins!! Bet all of you are glad you avoided that curveball! 23 weeks and two more dd's! X

JamInMyWellies Mon 22-Apr-13 19:55:15

5wks with DC3. Scared & excited! DS' are 5&4 so had just got to the other side and started having a life again and now back to the beginning again. Also we were only ever having 2 so got rid of everything. Am hoping I do my normal and go 10 days over otherwise this one will be having a Christmas bday.

nicecupofteaplease Mon 22-Apr-13 20:01:19

holidays - WOW! I was convinced it was twins and must confess to breathing a sigh of relief that there was only one in there. I'm 17 weeks with number 3, with a 2 and 4 year old. Convinced I am a) much more enormous than the last two times and b) so much more tired. Wishing very hard for an easy baby. Also, I had a very very fast labour last time, so am a little bit scared that I might end up having an accidental home birth which would be NOT GOOD.

holidaysdistantmemory Mon 22-Apr-13 20:27:38

My last one was also v fast, 20 mins, so hope not to unexpectedly drop twins in Tesco...smile

Twinklestarstwinklestars Mon 22-Apr-13 20:43:45

holidays and nicecup I was only in labour 20 mins last time too, I live 45 mins from hospital and my cervix was soft already when I went into get checked last week so the consultant has already said she thinks it'll be super fast this time. Ds went into shock and had fluid on his lungs cos it was so fast so I have already spoken to them about induction but will hopefully get an answer next time I go at 30 weeks as I don't want to be home alone with 2 dc if dp is at work and go into super fast labour if I can help it!

mumoftwoboysS Mon 22-Apr-13 22:13:22

Another 5 weeker JamInMyWellies- yay! And an 8 weeker (hello Upthefrigginduff!)- I don't feel so 'new' now ;-) And holidays- I haven't had a scan yet so...(gulp) it could be twins...

A few fast births - my last one wasn't that quick (around 2 hours?) but I was a little late in realising I should be at hospital so after a crazy fast drive to hospital I gave birth...on the walkway just outside the door- d'oh!

this time I'm going to leave a LOT earlier!!... Wow 20 mins is very fast- my sister in law had a labour 20 mins long but baby was fine.

My last birth was around 2hrs,and we left too late! I did make it into the midwife unit....but only just!!

Homebirth this time grin

Fuckwittery Tue 23-Apr-13 00:03:14

Ooh lots more no 3 ladies since I last posted! Yep, sorry, holidays not envious at all about your twin pregnancy! Have you got lots of support sorted out for after the birth? Do you have local family help?

I'm jealous of your quick labours, upthefriggingduff, mumoftwoboys (2 hours is v quick to me!), twinkle and holidays and nicecupoftea! Blimey, everyone is popping them out. I've had two emergency c sections for failure to progress, 3 day labour with dd1, not so long with dd2, 8 hour ish, but got stuck at 9cm for 4 hours, and as I was 18 days overdue and they couldn't give me the drip due to previous section, ended up with another.
I'm really dreading a c section this time round, both ops and recoveries were not good first time round not to mention looking after 3 kids post section. No idea what to do, thinking of hypnotherapy to get over my fear of operations and hospitals!

Twinkle, people keep saying. Ooh bet you want a boy this time, it's annoying! (Two girls) Would just like a healthy baby!

Mumoftwoboys, how did you find having winter babies? Ive had two spring babies so winter dressing a newborn will be a new experience!

mumoftwoboysS Tue 23-Apr-13 09:29:27

Fuckwittery- I bought a couple of these blankets called Bug in a Rug -well actually my mum bought them and they're great for winter babies
www.babyrug.co.uk

Means you can place baby in it in the car seat or buggy then when you take them out you can unswaddle them so they're not too hot- really cosy and soft.

I did buy one of those snowsuit thingys that look really warm (like an all in one you zip them into) but tbh didn't use it much- they just get too hot once inside.

I used a couple of cardis but otherwise you don't need much as a blanket like the one above is far more useful for a newborn- not so fiddly etc.

sheeplikessleep Tue 23-Apr-13 09:33:08

Also pregnant with DS3, due August 29th (though my first two boys were both 3 weeks early, so expecting that again).

Soooo excited, just hope DS2 grows out of his 5am starts by then <yawn>

mumoftwoboysS Tue 23-Apr-13 12:25:33

what are your situations re: rooms? At the moment mine have separate rooms- I'm dreading having to put my two in together a bit- they're fine once theyre asleep but youngest tends to keep eldest awake so when on holiday often put younger down first then sneak older one in. Thinking about a bunkbed too but oldest won't even be 5 by then so maybe later.

We have the option of converting the loft but that will require a few years of saving till we have another room...

Twinklestarstwinklestars Tue 23-Apr-13 13:11:30

We were going to put the ds' in together but ds2 loves his room and goes to bed earlier than ds1, if its a boy we might put it in with ds1 for a bit then see how it goes, if a girl we might put the two youngest together.

olivertheoctopus Tue 23-Apr-13 13:16:18

Meee! I am 28w with my third boy. DS1 is 4.5 and DS2 is 2. DS1 was awful labour (induced, epidural, ventouse, grade 3 mec, NICU, SCBU, retained placenta) whereas DS2 just fell out 10 mins after arriving at hosp. Hoping for a homebirth this time, eeeek! Am quite excited about my tribe of little boys.

Biggest issue for us with 3 kids was getting a car we could fit three seats across the back of but got one last week so that's sorted. Have now scrounged back/borrowed from elsehwere all the baby stuff we need (had previously said no more babies, famous last words!) so all ready to go now. Just hoping it doesn't get too hot before due date in mid July as DS1 was due early Sept and I did not cope well with summer heat (badly swollen ankles)

sheeplikessleep Tue 23-Apr-13 13:37:37

We're putting DS1 and DS2 in together.
TBH DS2 (3) wakes up at 5.30am every day anyway and wakes up entire house with his singing and then yelling.
Oliver - what car have you got? We are in same boat, looking at Smaxs and Tourans.

Twinklestarstwinklestars Tue 23-Apr-13 13:42:16

Sheep we have a galaxy which even though similar to an smax seems a lot bigger we looked at trading it in but would def get another galaxy, I'm a cm though so need the 7 seats every day. Ours is quite economical too and does about 43mpg.

Fuckwittery Wed 24-Apr-13 00:04:56

Thanks mumoftwoboys, that bug in a rug thing is so cute!
Hi to Oliver and sheep!
Oh yes, cars and room sharing! My dds already share a room although we have a complicated bed hopping routine where dd1 usually goes to sleep in our room and we transfer her and dd2 likes to sleep in dd1's bed when dd1 is not in the room! We need to get some bunk beds before no 3 comes, oh and do a major extension!! This is the kick up the bum we need though, as we've been planning it for the last 4 years!

Car wise, we are looking at 7 seaters also, although hadnt thought about larger car which can fit 3 car seats - any suggestion? i would love a touran but think it is out of our budget.

Like the sound of your tribe of boys, Oliver. I'm interested to see how I cope with being pregnant over the summer as both my last two were conceived in late summer and born April/May, so I've never been visibky pregnant over the summer! It is more difficult to hide post baby belly in summer clothes though, looking forward to shapeless winter clothes this time round, hoping to be fighting fit and in shape by the following summer (ironic laugh, as I suspect will never see my belly button again)

kyz1981 Wed 24-Apr-13 09:24:10

Hi I am also expecting my DC3 I have a DD4 and a DS 2 so I am going to have my hands full. Found this Pg so much worse than the others but figure its because of my 2 dc who require so much energy.

My EDD is 1st Dec.

mumoftwoboysS Wed 24-Apr-13 14:08:29

I'm hoping we can cram ours in to our current cars though we may find its not possible -car seats are so bulky!

Anyone suffering from morning sickness?? When did it hit? I'm bracing myself....feel a bit queasy but not sure if that's just the curry I had last night -lol!

My morning sickness has been sodding awful this time around,it lasts all day, I've never had it this badly before. <bluergh>

As for bedrooms, our two currently share and have the attic convertion as a playroom. I suspect DC3 will co sleep for at least 6 months, probably longer <sigh> and then we'll have to have a move around...

We don't have a car,I need to learn to drive, and buy a car before this baby arrives!!

Fuckwittery Wed 24-Apr-13 15:31:41

Touch wood, I have had hardly any sickness this time round (was sick with the girls). Sympathies upthefriggingduff, maybe it's a girl. Apparently there's some extra hormones with carrying girls that makes you more sick.

Oh co-sleeping, we co-slept til well over a year both times, this time I am optimistic that ill get my bed and life back (please) before then! They get so bloody uncomfy and kicky to sleep with after about 6 months! Mine like having milk on tap too much, and I'm too lazy to go for the bigger picture and introduce a night bottle earlier when I don't have to get out of bed to feed. Determined to try and get one bottle feed in this time round to avoid the basically not being able to go out for a year thing.

nicecupofteaplease Wed 24-Apr-13 19:52:47

Have people found they've got bigger much quicker the third time round? I'm 16 weeks and the size I was at about 24 weeks with the other two. I really hope it's a case of fast growth at the beginning and then evening out, otherwise I am going to be mahoosive. Feeling a bit blue about it.

holidaysdistantmemory Wed 24-Apr-13 20:07:17

We are getting a ford galaxy, as will. Need space for 4 carseats with the twins. Everyone says they are spacious and cheapish compared to others. Will test drive soon.

Rooms, we have moved our two dcs into same bedroom now so they get used to it before babies arrive. Wobbly start, ds (4)normally conks out at 7pm but DD (2) sings and read out loud til 8.30pm-ish so is currently keeping him awake and he is tired for school. Poor boy.

Hmm,yes,I was a bit sicker with DD than DS,but this is still worse...
s'not fair

<stamps foot>

olivertheoctopus Thu 25-Apr-13 17:05:52

Sheep: it's a Hyundai Santa Fe (no, I had never heard of them either until about a month ago!). Really pleased with it as not too different from the Freelander we had.

In terms of room-sharing, DS2 went in with DS1 when he was only 8w old and they are now in bunk beds. But DS1 sleeps like a log and DS2 does not. We only have 3 bedrooms and our 'spare' bedroom is also DH's office when he works from home (probably at home 2 - 3 days a week) so until DS3 is sleeping consistently enough to go in with his brothers DS3 will go into the spare room and DH's desk will go into our bedroom. Not ideal but it will have to do.

Fuckwittery: also not looking forward to massive summer bump. DS1 was due 4 Sept so was pg during the summer and suffered from hideously painful swollen ankles. DS2 was due 14 Feb and ankles were fine (no idea whether down to weather or just different pg but suspect weather had a massive part to play). Obviously not been a problem in the UK until this week but feet/ankles have been a bit swollen today and yest so have deployed the Body Shop peppermint foot range in the hope of keeping it under bay. Wishful thinking.

GrasshopperNchipmunk Thu 25-Apr-13 19:33:16

We've just found out we're expecting DC3, due late December, what a rubbish time of year for a birthday! smile

Already have DS and DD, 2yrs and 1yr blush Not to mention work full time and preparing for the onslaught of the horrendous hypermesis I had with the previous two confused

mumoftwoboysS Thu 25-Apr-13 21:22:21

One thing i'm glad of and that's not being heavily pregnant mid-summer- my feet get puffy at the end of the day when I'm not pregnant so I know I'd suffer hideous swollen ankles. But I have worked out I'll be around 24 weeks for a wedding in August so there goes my plan to wear that lovely fitted shift dress hanging in my wardrobe.....(tho secretly excited about bigger bust (or any sort of bust) that I'll be able to show off in a new dress instead ;-)

Grasshopper- poor you suffering HG in the past- is it always the case that you'll get it again if you got it last time? How many weeks are you now?

My nausea has definitely started but pretty mild and worse in the afternoon/evenings so far......

mumoftwoboysS Thu 25-Apr-13 21:38:24

btw- I've forgotten from my first two, but I'm already getting round ligament pain/twinges- surely its too early to be stretching already?? Just sneezed and got a spasm from ligament- omg the pain!...

Hi all, am pregnant with DC3. Dd I'd nearly 13 and DS is 8. This one was DH going for vasectomy referral and coming home saying please can we have one more.

Am 10 weeks at the moment, DH convinced is girl, I think is boy, although as long as it healthy I don't mind.

Going to have Harmony test on Monday as had to have CVS with last 2. Mind you had cramps all day yesterday and night before, stopped around 4 this morning but am resting today rather than going into work.

We looking at a Touran or Sharan, will be sad to say goodbye to my lovely estate car though! Dp you guys think you'll have enough room in a normal car? With older kids they don't have stuff just bloody mates with them all if the time. DS seems to have at least one other each night!

We ok for rooms, just got to move Dd up to next floor and redecorate her new room and old room.

It's all very exciting isn't it. Seems to drag on but then I think nearly 3rd of the way through and am bloody terrified!

GrasshopperNchipmunk Fri 26-Apr-13 08:49:34

I'm not sure about hypermesis, the second time wasn't as intense as the in the first pregnancy, so maybe ill get away with just about of morning sickness this time - wishful thinking!!

I am dreading telling work already!! I've only been back 6 months from my last set of mat leave blush

Lexingtonlala Fri 26-Apr-13 16:42:08

So nice to hear there are others in the same boat. I'm 10/11 weeks with DC3 - due Nov and to be honest it even feels weird saying it. Can't get my head around it at all. It just doesn't feel real even though I've already had an early scan (5weeks+6) and saw the little love's heart beating. I suppose I'm waiting for reassurance that all will be ok. I'm 37 and for some irrational reason feel worried. Scan in a week which will be reassuring.

GrasshopperNchipmunk Sun 05-May-13 16:43:02

How is everyone feeling? I've only popped on to say that I feel like CRAP and I forgot how relentless the sickness is confused its making me miserable.

Hope everyone is feeling better than me! grin

CherryPie3 Sun 05-May-13 20:09:52

Hello ladies, smile Congratulations on your pregnancies!!

I'm sorry to barge in as I'm not pregnant, BUT I do have 3 dc's and th

CherryPie3 Sun 05-May-13 20:13:16

Sorry...

Thought I would add my input on cars to fit 3 kids.

My kids are now aged 8y, almost 7y and almost 2y. Our youngest is still in a 'birth to 4y' carseat which is bulky and my older 2 both have booster seats.
We had much panicking over finding a car to fit is but eventually we found our Renault Mégane. They all fit a treat! I think it works because the rear seats are individually moulded rather than a 'bench' type seat. Hope this helps you ;)

cathpip Sun 05-May-13 20:23:57

I am 6 weeks with dc3, already have a ds4 and dd2 and due Xmas day. Dh says I will do anything to get out of cooking the turkey as will be having a section. As for birthdays it's mine and ds's birthdays in nov, dc3 will be delivered just before Xmas and dd is in jan, dh is starting to panic alreadysmile and hoping its not twins ( do run in family ).

SuziHaworth Mon 06-May-13 06:35:56

Hi smile Im 20 weeks (although im sure Im 22 weeks!!) With number three..i have an 8 yr old and a two year old smile xx

SuziHaworth Mon 06-May-13 06:36:16

I had my son xmas day!!!

BlackholesAndRevelations Mon 06-May-13 07:09:05

Hi all! I'm currently 7 weeks with dc3. Bit worried about how on earth I'll cope (dc are 3 and 20 months at the moment!) but we really wanted a third and with a small age gap too. Also due 23rd dec, poor thing! But having had two miscarriages between dc2 and now, we aren't taking anything for granted and potential birth dates are not a worry. fingers crossed this one sticks!

BlackholesAndRevelations Mon 06-May-13 07:11:33

Ps what was/is it like having an Xmas day baby, Suzi? I think I'd rather this one was not born in the time between Xmas and NYE but hey, it'll come when it's ready!
