Just wondering really!

I'm 33 and have just had my first ds. We know we want another and definitely don't want a big age gap.

I'm worried by all the recent publicity about how many couples really struggle to get pregnant with their second baby.

racheld33 Wed 03-Apr-13 18:15:01

Hi, I'm 30 and it took us 6 months second time (was the first month first time), started to worry it wasn't going to happen!

feckawwf Wed 03-Apr-13 18:17:43

1 month and I was 23. Ds3 tho was 5years of trying and 3 mc later (aged 30 when eventually successful)

youbethemummylion Wed 03-Apr-13 18:25:56

1 month and i was 26

Bowlersarm Wed 03-Apr-13 18:29:58

34. We weren't planning another one and he was a result of the one night we took a risk. I couldn't believe it when i took a pregnancy test! Of course we wouldn't change a thing now.

ChunkyPickle Wed 03-Apr-13 18:31:19

34. We had vaguely mentioned that perhaps we'd like another one, and BOOM! I was pregnant.

I think that abstention is the only way we'll stop a 3rd.

Shesparkles Wed 03-Apr-13 18:33:49

1 shag and I was 31!

jinxdragon Wed 03-Apr-13 18:37:55

A year, plus a miscarriage, and I was 26, OH 30.

toffeelolly Wed 03-Apr-13 18:39:31

Got pregant with dd when ds was just turned 5 months, they say sometimes you can get pregant quickly again after giving birth. So only 14 months between them they get on great glad i done it this way !

CurlyKiwiControl Wed 03-Apr-13 18:39:51

24, about a year give or take ... Not proper trying trying iykwim, just not using anything.

Can count on one hand how many times we've done it since ds arrived 16 month ago and im 4/5 month again!

MirandaWest Wed 03-Apr-13 18:39:59

Was 29. Took one go without using a condom blush

swlmum Wed 03-Apr-13 18:42:18

37 with 1st and took 18 months to get pregnant. 38 with the 2nd and took 1 month...

gemma4d Wed 03-Apr-13 18:42:43

32. 1 5 minutes.

First took 1.5 years. Hell of a shock.

mnistooaddictive Wed 03-Apr-13 18:43:51

32 and it took about 3 days. But of a shock.

mylovelymonster Wed 03-Apr-13 18:44:28

I was a couple of months off 40, DD1 was 2, and we had BMS just once. (13 months the first time!).
It depends on whether you have any known fertility issues and how fit & healthy you are as well as age. If all good, you really shouldn't worry.

Bearcrumble Wed 03-Apr-13 18:46:59

38 and one shag. First DC was 2 years of trying and two ivfs. ha.

philbee Wed 03-Apr-13 18:48:19

DD took 3 months and I was 31. Second pg took 4 months and I was 34 but I miscarried. After that it took a year so I was 35 by the time I got pg again.

KristinaM Wed 03-Apr-13 18:50:54

2months aged 40, had a miscarriage

2 months next time, still 40

Not trying at all aged 42 ( was bf, no AF)

KelleStar Wed 03-Apr-13 18:54:56

Breast fed DD until 15 months, took 4 months to fall pregnant with DC2, I am 31. DD will be 2.4 when baby arrives.

1st month of trying. So was the first dc. I was 26 when first dc was conceived and 28 when second was conceived. Was utterly convinced both times that it would take ages confused

cinnamonbun Wed 03-Apr-13 19:07:19

Was 39 first time and am now 33 expecting DC2. Took 8 months for both.

thing1andthing2 Wed 03-Apr-13 19:09:13

Was 32 and fell pregnant first month.

AThingInYourLife Wed 03-Apr-13 19:09:52

I was 33. I got pregnant second month. First full cycle.

CareerGirl01 Wed 03-Apr-13 19:10:30

Got pg at 37 with DD1 - four months after coming off mini pill. Had taken regular checks for progesterone levels throughout my late 20s and 30s after being told I had PCOS (had ultrasound which confirmed it) took 6 months age 41 with DC2 and am now 35 weeks (and have turned 42) pg. We weren't really trying (i.e timing it with my ovulation days) with either. Wanted big gap between my DCs because of my career. But would recommend following healthy diet and exercise regime if you want to wait until your late 30s /early 40s; I think many women think they can leave it late because they see all the celebs having buns later - most of whom have had help TTC.

AThingInYourLife Wed 03-Apr-13 19:11:10

"Was 39 first time and am now 33 expecting DC2."

CareerGirl01 Wed 03-Apr-13 19:11:33

I mean bubs not buns - it's been a bit of a week for me.

bonzo77 Wed 03-Apr-13 19:11:35

35. 15 months and one MC. Got pg after about 5 minutes for DS1, aged 31.

spanky2 Wed 03-Apr-13 19:14:05

One time and I was 33 and had endemetriosis! Dh must have strong swimmers! We were so lucky because I didn't think I would get another ds!

Jollyb Wed 03-Apr-13 19:15:29

redandyellowandpinkandgreen Wed 03-Apr-13 20:11:39

About 10 months, I was 36 and have PCOS though.

MamaBlue4 Wed 03-Apr-13 20:22:12

I'm 23.

We waited until ds1 was around 2 until we tried for our 2nd and within weeks of stopping using the condoms, I was pregnant. Then on our 3rd; a month of trying then I was pregnant with dts. Now, we started trying on 24th Feb, and I'm 5+1 weeks pregnant.

Apparently, I'm very fertile.

Flisspaps Wed 03-Apr-13 20:23:49

Two months, and I was 29.

windywoo26 Wed 03-Apr-13 20:37:38

Am 35 and took 1 month this time. Took 9 months (after mc) with DS and had taken 9 months to get pg then. Assumed it would take a little while again.

louby86 Wed 03-Apr-13 20:52:48

6 months the first time I got pregnant, one night the second time grin

Gurraun Wed 03-Apr-13 20:53:36

Ds1 - 2 months aged 32. Ds2 (24 weeks pg) 7 months aged 35 - had some hormone imbalance issued caused by pill with pg2 but resolved by homeopathy (I think but possibly mother nature)

Mamabear12 Wed 03-Apr-13 20:56:49

First time it took one try and I couldnt believe it. I am always on schedule with my cycle, 28 days and right before first baby turned one, I thought lets try now because I want them close in age. My cycles were not completely regular bc I was still breastfeeding. However, we managed again on very first try (and one shag!) I couldn't believe it. I was nervous about the second fertility as well, bc there are a lot of articles. Now, just crossing fingers everything goes well. I am 10 weeks 5 days. Oh and I'm 30 now.

DD conceived aged 30 and DS conceived aged 32 (also had a miscarriage aged 30). All 3 pregnancies achieved by having sex just the once.

Good luck!

9 months, I was 29. Took 14 months to get pregnant with DS1 so was prepared for a wait!

CitizenOscar Wed 03-Apr-13 21:02:49

33, about 4 months. Felt like longer!

SqueakyCleanNameChange Wed 03-Apr-13 21:03:07

2 months, aged 34. First DC took 18 months.

VerySmallSqueak Wed 03-Apr-13 21:06:05

9 months from birth of DD1 to conception of DD2.
I was 37.

Funions Wed 03-Apr-13 21:08:10

Had 1st at 33, followed by 18 months very much contracepted, then 2nd at just turned 38, TTC roughly 2.5 years for no2, with a couple of early mcs.

atrcts Wed 03-Apr-13 21:08:38

My first took about 7 months at age 35 and my second was first try at 39 years old!

TippiShagpile Wed 03-Apr-13 21:09:42

Got pg when ds1 was 3 months old. And I was EBF. And I was 36.

Catchingmockingbirds Wed 03-Apr-13 21:17:17

I conceived at 24, after about 9 months of trying but that ended in a mc at 8 weeks. I then conceived again a week later and she's currently wriggling around in my tummy and is due next month. My first I conceived at 18.

louby86 Wed 03-Apr-13 21:17:37

Didn't answer fully, sorry. I was 24 when I conceived the first time and 26 this time.

Guitargirl Wed 03-Apr-13 21:21:25

I was 30 when we conceived DC1 and 32 conceiving DC2. Both times conceived within one month and the second time around I was still breastfeeding.

shallweshop Wed 03-Apr-13 21:24:42

It took 6 months to conceive DS and I was 41 with only one fallopian tube left following a previous ectopic. There is a 25 month age gap between him and DD.

2 1/2 years and I was 37 when I eventually got pg.

We did have a long history of infertility, though. Were very surprised to have a second at all!

OrangeFootedScrubfowl Wed 03-Apr-13 21:28:53

CheerfulYank Wed 03-Apr-13 21:32:31

chickensandbees Wed 03-Apr-13 21:32:50

MrsJohnDeere Wed 03-Apr-13 21:35:41

First month of trying (after taking 8 years to conceive ds1). I was 36.

exoticfruits Wed 03-Apr-13 21:35:53

38first attempt.

somanymore Wed 03-Apr-13 21:39:44

My son (9) was unplanned - we were married and knew we wanted children but hadn't actually stopped the pill to try!

We seperated and I remarried. 6 month ago we stopped contrapception to "let fate decide". I'm 20 weeks with triplets!!!

VioletStar Wed 03-Apr-13 21:41:00

35 and first attempt. Had DD at age 36. (DS was a surprise at age 34, but a good surprise!)

Norfolknway Wed 03-Apr-13 22:10:51

31 and we 'tried' once smile

EskSmith Wed 03-Apr-13 22:43:51

I was 33 when I conceived DD2, it took 1 time, as it did with DD1.

Made the years of contraceptive use seem worthwhile ;)

Lionsntigersnbears Wed 03-Apr-13 23:00:00

First time if trying and I was 39 and a half. Couldn't believe it!

SquirrelNuts Wed 03-Apr-13 23:01:51

I was 23, first month trying. Quicker than the first time round.

Gimmeechocolate Wed 03-Apr-13 23:20:50

I was 28 first time and took 1 month, almost 30 2nd time and took one drunken night! Third time took exactly 2 years, 34 by the time it happened.

BikeRunSki Wed 03-Apr-13 23:23:29

40, one month.

Sparklyboots Wed 03-Apr-13 23:25:44

Two months but we didn't manage to DTD exactly on ovulation day the first month, so I don't know if that counts. I was 35. (DC 1 got pg the first day of trying, I was 33).
