could I be pregnant after 3 negatives?

Username says it all.

TTC #2 and I was due on yesterday. I've felt pregnant for the last week or so, symptoms include headaches, pinching/pulling in uterus area, nausea (but no actual sickness) - but now I'm wondering if it's all in my head?

Tested early twice last week (as I tested positive early with my first) but both came back negative.

Then yesterday I started leaking colostrum. I don't know if it's linked - but I met a pregnant friend and I felt a little leak! Then I checked and there was the orangey liquid I got at 33 weeks last time and today a little milk. Could that be my hormones knowing my friend is carrying a baby? (sounds strange I know!)

So I bought a digital test and it clearly states not pregnant! Am I imagining all the symptoms? And is the leaking something to worry about? (I stopped breast feeding my 1st over a year ago and have been dry since ... I know as I've often had the odd squeeze!)

So after 3 negatives ... am I mad to think I could actually be pregnant?

wonderingifiam2013 Sat 23-Mar-13 11:35:02

oh and I've gone off wine ... and I never go off that!

SoupDreggon Sat 23-Mar-13 11:37:34

You can get false negatives so there is always the possibility you're pregnant.

The only thing you can do is wait and see though!

wonderingifiam2013 Sat 23-Mar-13 11:38:31

you're right SoupDreggon ... I'm just impatient! grin

Digital tests are notoriously crap at early-ish testing. Often the threshold they will pick up hcg at is much higher than they advertise.

Buy a first response non-digital and try again. Good luck!

Tested 4 days before AF was negative then tested again.day before af was negative, left it then till 2 days late and it was the most faintest posative result and that was a super sensative test too, I'd also got early posatives with my 2 ds's so after testing day before af I thought I Defo wasn't even though I felt preg. So yes its possible x

wonderingifiam2013 Mon 25-Mar-13 16:45:19

Hi, thanks for answers. Now 3 days late and still getting negative results. Leaked a little again yesterday and stupidly googled it ... scared myself and have rang the Dr's to check it's nothing to worry about.

Awaiting a call back.

Highly unlikely I am ... but still wondering!

pompompom Mon 25-Mar-13 16:46:29

Get a supercritical test - most sensitive test I've found so far

wonderingifiam2013 Mon 25-Mar-13 16:48:40

Hi pompompom - will do!

Although I'm thinking I'm just late now as tested so early with #1

wonderingifiam2013 Mon 25-Mar-13 16:58:43

just googled supercritical test and can't find anything? Do you mean one that gives a result before period is due? Sorry if I'm sounding stupid!

pompompom Mon 25-Mar-13 17:03:14

Argh.. sorry. Superdrug! Stupid bloody phobe!

pompompom Mon 25-Mar-13 17:03:38

wonderingifiam2013 Mon 25-Mar-13 17:09:29

hahaha! Thanks - I know where to find that grin

Fingers crossed!

LifesAHappySong Mon 25-Mar-13 17:12:32

Second the superdrug tests - they're great! Just wanted to add my experience if it helps. I breastfed my first baby and was ttc #2, I felt milk let down and leaked a little at just 8 dpo. I was pregnant but obviously it was far too early to tell. I got a negative test at 13 dpo and a positive at 16 dpo. Hope that helps!

wonderingifiam2013 Mon 25-Mar-13 19:09:14

Thanks for that LifesAHappySong smile

I'll buy one of those tests asap and fingers crossed I get my positive smile

yellowsnownoteatwillyou Mon 25-Mar-13 19:50:17

I was 21 days late and am now 21 weeks pregnant, so fingers crossed for you. grin

Girraferama Mon 25-Mar-13 20:01:37

I was also late by 3 weeks before I got a positive! Now 15 weeks! Follow your gut instinct!

PurplePoppySeed Mon 25-Mar-13 20:27:43

Same, it took ages to get a positive - it can take a while if you ov'ed late

wonderingifiam2013 Tue 26-Mar-13 10:36:41

Thanks to all those with positive stories smile

Still no sign of period and I'm feeling so sick I can't concentrate. It's that watery mouth/having to swallow a lot nausea sad

I spoke to the Dr re leaking and he said as long as there is no blood or lumps - it'll just be hormonal and to keep testing every week if period doesn't arrive soon.

I have one digi left which I know I should save until I'm at least one week late ... but I'll see how much self control I have tomorrow if I still haven't come on

I just can't help not believing the negatives with how sick I feel, and my stomach now seems to be sticking out a little more very low down (I got a mini bump pretty much straight away with #1 as I was so thin ... albeit I'd be starting off a bit bigger this time grin

Only time will tell I guess!

wonderingifiam2013 Wed 27-Mar-13 08:17:14

stupidly couldn't wait and did final digi test this a.m - still negative!

On day 33 now (28 days usually) and seem to have lost my symptoms but don't have any period symptoms either.

This is the first month we've bought ovulation tests and just want to get on and use them!

Has anyone ever just missed a complete period without being pregnant?

And is there any point in starting using the ovulation sticks yet? Or do I have to wait for my period first for them to show any hormone level increases?

We were so lucky with #1 that I'm finding all this tracking malarky a bit confusing!

pompompom Wed 27-Mar-13 08:24:40

Wait until you've got your period then start doing the ovulation sticks after 8-10 days. I always thought I ovulated about 16 days in, but I was totally out and it was actually at 10 days, so it is worth doing them for a while to establish your pattern.

If you still don't have your period in a few days try the superdrug tests. I've never had a positive with the digi ones, but the SD ones are v sensitive.

I've missed a whole period, yes, and have found over the last 2 years of TTC that my cycle seems to be all over the place the more I worry about it (having been a very regular 28 days before). It's cruel and awful, the months I thought I was pregnant and then got the negative were absolutely heartbreaking.

Use the ov sticks for a little while, make sure you're taking all your folic acid etc, and keep going smile flowers

wonderingifiam2013 Wed 27-Mar-13 08:29:27

Thanks so much for the advice pompompom smile

I'm trying not to think about it too much but it just seems to consume every thought!

I will give it another few days and most definitely try the superdrug tests (that's if I can stop myself going there today grin)

Thanks again smile

wonderingifiam2013 Wed 27-Mar-13 08:51:00

meant to say - good luck for this month too pompompom! smile

we're only 6 months in ttc #2 so I guess I'm just being impatient

flowers

pompompom Wed 27-Mar-13 09:09:41

Thanks. I've actually just got a BFP (I think I am 5+2) so it's consuming every thought at the moment.

You'll get there grin Hopefully it won't take you as long as it did us!

Mapal Wed 27-Mar-13 09:19:59

Do you know for sure when you ovulated? To be honest you sound like me when we were trying, I felt pregnant every month and spent so much on tests, but if it's a decent 'test early' type of test and it's saying you're not pregnant then either: a) you're definitely not pregnant or b) you ovulated later than you thought and your period is not actually due yet in which case you may be pregnant but you'll need to wait a bit longer to find out!
The tests these days are pretty good, if you're sure your period is due then you should be getting a positive test if you are pregnant.

Mapal Wed 27-Mar-13 09:21:05

Should add, fingers crossed for you, it took us 11 months, felt like aaages!

wonderingifiam2013 Wed 27-Mar-13 10:46:17

Congratulations pompompom! That's fantastic news! smile so happy for you smile

Fingers crossed it'll happen soon ... I think we only did it once the month #1 was concieved so feeling a bit sad but I guess it only takes 1 little swimmer! smile

Mapal - I know you're right ... and I am doubting very much the tests are wrong. But I've been on a regular cycle for 4 months now (6 months since coming off the pill) so thought this month was the one as I've never had any pregnancy symptoms in the previous 5 months or even done a test as I just knew I wasn't! This month feels very different ... but I also know it could be in my head sad

Congratulations on your BFP too! smile

Mapal Wed 27-Mar-13 11:15:39

Oh thanks, I'm actually now on my 4th pregnancy and they all took wildly varying lengths of time to conceive.
First time (DS) took 8 months, 2nd time took literally one go (like your first!) but sadly miscarried, 3rd time was the one that took 11 months and I was convinced we'd both magically become infertile, felt like forever. That sadly miscarried too. I'm now on my 4th (6 weeks and holding my breath to make it to 12 weeks) and this was first go (again!).
So, I guess what I'm saying is, try to be patient, I'm sure it will happen even though it is so disappointing when it takes longer than a few months. Best of luck. x

wonderingifiam2013 Wed 27-Mar-13 11:34:24

Oh Mapal I'm so sorry to hear about your losses sad

Here's to a happy scan at 12 weeks this time smile

flowers

pompompom Wed 27-Mar-13 12:37:04

grin thank you wondering

Mapal - we're in the same situation, you must be just a few days ahead of me. 4th pg. Last 2 have been early MCs and crossing fingers that this one sticks.

Vocalista86 Wed 27-Mar-13 15:48:50

I think the Superdrug standard tests are fab. They picked my BFP up 2 days before AF was due... probably not very helpful advice but I do think they are the best I've used.

Both pregnancies I was over a week late before I tested positive. With #2 I leaked colostrum too.

Good luck!

Mapal Thu 28-Mar-13 07:07:00

Ah Pompom, good luck! Would be good if we both make it this time. Are you having an early scan? I had one on tues, could just make out a tiny flickering heart beat. A bit reassuring I suppose but things probably looked the same at this stage with the last two I reckon, miscarriages were at 12 weeks and 10 weeks.

pompompom Thu 28-Mar-13 12:03:36

We're having an early scan but not until 8 weeks. I'm just at the point of my first MC with this one (just shy of 6 weeks) so fingers crossed. Mine were both very early, so I'm hopeful that if I can just get past 6-7 weeks that this one will stick. it's a nervous time though.

Sorry wondering - hijacking a bit smile thanks

wonderingifiam2013 Thu 28-Mar-13 15:54:42

Don't be daft pompompom! smile got my fingers crossed for you both flowers

As for me - I'm still waiting, and I'll be a week late tomorrow!

Slightly giving up hope on a positive so if it's going to arrive, I want it to arrive asap so we can get on with the sticks.

Wishing you both lots of luck with sticky little babies smile

pompompom Fri 29-Mar-13 08:45:10

Its just torture isn't it. Really hope you get a BFP smile

X

pompompom Sun 31-Mar-13 18:21:01

Any news wondering? X

wonderingifiam2013 Mon 01-Apr-13 20:01:55

Hi pompompom - thanks for asking smile

After being a week late ... my period arrived on Friday sad

I was just relieved in the end, drank lots grin and can now get ready to start using the sticks! I'm just a bit confused as when to start as this cycle was 35 days (usual 28) and I've only got the 7 day kit. Should I just buy another or start on day 10 and hope for the best?

Hope you're doing well too flowers

pompompom Mon 01-Apr-13 20:20:25

Aww sorry to hear that, it sucks doesbt it. My cycle started off at 28 days too but that seemed to go wonky once I started ttc.
Start on day 10 and see what happens. Internet cheapy ovulation tests are good, you can get them from amazon. I think its def worth doing them to work out your cycle. Superdrug ones also good and not too expensive.
If you continue getting irregular cycles then vit B6 can help regulate things too.

I'm ok thanks. 6 week tomorrow and bricking it.

wonderingifiam2013 Tue 02-Apr-13 09:54:33

Thanks Pompompom - it does but I'm feeling ok about it ... just hope I don't go potty at the end of this month like last! grin

Will start on the sticks next week and see what happens smile

Hope you're doing well at 6 weeks - got everything crossed for you flowers

Probably stay off here for a bit now - but hope to be back with some good news soon smile

wondering come and join us on ttc#2 nutjob Fred (can't link on phone) - there are a lot of us grin . my normally regular cycle went tits up the first month of ttc. typical!
