i would like to know everyones cravings smile with my daughter i craved fresh lemon and anything lemon flavoured. with this pregnancy i have suddenly got a craving for brocolli cheese and (not sure on spelling) potato daughinoise! so very different. what were/are your cravings? any weird ones? xx

Flisspaps Fri 08-Feb-13 16:23:47

With DD it was cloudy lemonade

With DS it was clear lemonade.

And cake both times.

mrsR1991 Fri 08-Feb-13 16:30:35

oh yes cloudy lemonade was a fave for me! was the closest thing i could get to lemon juice as my partner wouldnt let me have it after a while fearing i would get a stomach ulcer :-/ i am also addicted to primula cheese spread with chives on toast at the mo!! xx

Aimeelou28 Fri 08-Feb-13 16:31:41

I'm expecting a girl and for the first few months I craved loads of fresh fruit, which I'm normally not that bothered about, and glasses of milk in the middle of the night!
No weird cravings for disgusting things though, I've noticed everyone always expects you to have one like that and people get quite disappointed when you say nope, just fruit I'm afraid!

rainand Fri 08-Feb-13 16:32:22

Snowballs, but that's about it smile Should I be having more cravings?

beckie90 Fri 08-Feb-13 16:32:49

Ds1 Chinese, and smelling fairy fabric conditioner

Ds2 cakes, sweets. Petrol hmm obviously I never touched it Haha, but use to think bout it all time. And wet sponges, used to sit in bath smelling them.

Dc3 hmmm everything, I currently have eyes bigger than belly .

SeriousStuff Fri 08-Feb-13 16:34:08

I'm only 5+5 but last night I had a dream where I was gasping for salt and ended up pouring a whole salt shaker into my mouth. It was similar to those dreams you get about drinking water when you're a bit dehydrated!

And truth is I do want salty things - salty butter on toast mainly!

beckie90 Fri 08-Feb-13 16:34:25

To add to Dc3- eating lots of fruit especially nectrines

PandaWatch Fri 08-Feb-13 16:35:48

In my first trimester it was satsumas and spicy foods. My cravings have now, at 29+2, extended to lots of food. Any food. Soooo hungry - all the time!!

mrsR1991 Fri 08-Feb-13 16:36:14

beckie i swear i am addicted to the smell of fabric softeners whether pg or not! i love the stuff.. i am quite weird actually i could sit there for ages smelling it :-/ hmm wet sponges never heard that one before! xx

clarelou13 Fri 08-Feb-13 16:42:00

Dd1 extra strong mints and smell of hoover.
Current pregnancy extra strong mints, cakes and smell of firelighters and bleach! Think body telling me im cold and need to clean the house smile

Rache1S Fri 08-Feb-13 16:44:38

Fizzy orange Fanta, and in the quantity I am drinking it I full expect DD to come out orange hmm

mrsR1991 Fri 08-Feb-13 16:54:06

hehe have to laugh at some of these comments! i find it so weird how our eating habits change so much during pregnancy!! xx

FROSTIES!!! I have about 3 bowls a day with tons of milk... I came down one morning to find my hubby had had the last bowl and I cried, really really sobbed!

beckie90 Fri 08-Feb-13 17:04:02

My cousin had the wet sponge one at same time as me Haha I used to want to chew it, but didn't I bought a new 1 specially for smelling Haha xx

sundaesundae Fri 08-Feb-13 17:05:52

34 weeks and no cravings at all, I feel let down!

MisselthwaiteManor Fri 08-Feb-13 17:07:13

I haven't had any one specific thing, I just fixate on something and NEED to have it, then it's onto something else. Right now it's cheesy pasta. I really needed to smell mint sauce for a good few weeks, I bought a squeezy bottle of it and carried it around so I could sniff. Gone off it completely now though.

Countmyblessings Fri 08-Feb-13 17:10:51

Ginger cake with mature cheese yummy!!!!
Oh and peanut butter & choc spread on brown toast!!!
Extra yum its like melted snickers!!!!!

sunnysunnyshine Fri 08-Feb-13 17:15:40

Ice! It's making me so bloody cold! I'm getting through about 10 trays a day. I was the same with dc1 but at least it was summer then...

And as I've got dreadful insomnia, I'm crunching my way through a tray or 2 at night as well.

Why can't I crave something healthy like fruit - something that actually has some nutritional content?!

Oh and Lindt chocolate with sea salt...with extra salt grin

sunnysunnyshine Fri 08-Feb-13 17:17:37

Ooh gonna have to try that melted snickers toast count - sounds amazing!

purrpurr Fri 08-Feb-13 17:17:43

Don't think I've had any cravings - I was expecting to have to send DH out in the middle of the night for a burger or something. Total let down. Now 27 + 5 and I could quite happily survive on hot sweet tea, flame grilled flavour crisps or pringles and the odd bar of snickers, but I do try to eat a healthy balanced diet and I don't cry if I have to miss out on yummy hot tea and crisps. Feel dreadfully guilty most of the time as haven't eaten a single piece of fruit for weeks. Have veg every day but the idea of fruit is very unappealing, whereas I loved the stuff before. Maybe I have Opposite Cravings?

Jollymummy2 Fri 08-Feb-13 17:18:09

With my first DC it was cheddar cheese and strawberry jam sandwiches on white bread. Second DC it was olives by the jar, and 3rd DC was green pot noodles!
With this pregnancy it's tinned potatoes and melted cheese!

purrpurr Fri 08-Feb-13 17:19:03

Ooh did someone say cheesy pasta? Nom nom... Ok I think I'm just craving ANYTHING that probably isn't very good for me! Mmmm paaaaasta

Persuasion Fri 08-Feb-13 17:30:51

In the first few weeks it was beetroot, couldn't get enough, then I suddenly couldn't even look at the stuff!

Since then (now 19+3) they come, and persist until I have the craved thing, then go. So far it's been mostly sweet - jam tarts, doughnuts, vanilla milkshake. I have one a few occasions NEEDED curry (like right now, DH will be pleased!) And I have a persistent low level want for pot noodle, but that's a step too far and I'm ignoring it!

FoofFighter Fri 08-Feb-13 17:36:10

Satsumas in the early weeks, then bland stuff/beige carbs, now it's fish in batter/fishfingers and anything spicy. Although I have to say not really thought they wer cravigns as like things for a day or two then thats it?

More like I am very suggestible and someone has to only mention it/me read it/see it on TV etc and I WANT THAT THING NOW.

SamraLee Fri 08-Feb-13 17:36:46

sunnyJust a heads up I was craving ice when pregnant and I ended up with severe anemia. Only to find out later craving ice was actually a symptom!

Msbluesky32 Fri 08-Feb-13 17:39:48

Salt and vinegar crisps and sparkling elderflower in first trimester - I think it was linked to morning sickness. I have very low blood pressure too so I think the salt was something to do with the crisp craving.

Now I'm 31 weeks I can't get enough malt loaf -something I hadn't eaten since I was a little girl until recently. Also ovaltine, there is definitely a malt theme ...

On the flip side I cannot stand chilli in anything now- and this is a person who owns a massive bag of chilli flakes and heaped it into everything that vaguely resembled a savoury dish

sunnysunnyshine Fri 08-Feb-13 17:46:15

Thanks samra . I had actually heard this but when I asked my midwife she said it wasn't true. It would explain the tiredness though... Getting bloods done in a couple of days so we shall see...

Dexidoo Fri 08-Feb-13 17:51:39

Sour sweets- haribo, sherbet lemons etc I have a constantly sore tongue to show for it!

butterflybuns Fri 08-Feb-13 17:51:58

Salt and vinegar crisps and fizzy drinks, especially in first trimester but mainly to combat morning sickness. With all of them it's been cake and chocolate- any excuse! I love the smell of insulin though (am a nurse) maybe my body's trying to tell me something.

cwtchontoast Fri 08-Feb-13 17:52:40

Marmite on toast, and anything anyone mentions that I don't have in the house. Also KFC. pretty much everything really blush.

rosiedays Fri 08-Feb-13 18:07:34

first trimester i tasted in colours!!! so weird! now bacon! (not good as i'm muslim!!!) and ANY liquid.... When i need to drink I HAVE to drink don't care what or Who's. LOL

BelleEtLaBaby Fri 08-Feb-13 18:20:48

Pork fat. Really well cooked. On a chop, a roast, a scratching, any way you like smile

Have hg again so my tastes are really specific sad

Oranges and protein heavy foods like chicken breast and steak in the first trimester. Now, absolutely anything that won't give me acid reflux.... so porridge basically!

So strange rache1s fizzy fanta or any fizzy orange drink was my only craving with my dd!! Aside from that I had more aversions then cravings

Dolallytats Fri 08-Feb-13 21:05:54

I'm 16+5 with No3 and i've never had a craving-feel a bit left out!!

I'm not sure i would call it a craving but I have drank loads of fanta and eaten loads of satsumas. I really want a pic and mix right now but I'm the kind of person when not pregnant to have eating fads where I eat loads of one thing then don't eat it again for ages so not sure how to distinguish that with a craving iykwim

LoganMummy Fri 08-Feb-13 21:39:29

With DS it was Heinz Spaghetti Hoops - ate them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I'm currently 23+4 and all I want is as much food as possible. I'm just sooooo hungry! grin

itsmyfirsteek Fri 08-Feb-13 22:04:15

I haven't eaten meat in 25 years and I crave bacon sarnies! The craving was really strong for 4 weeks and I gave in on new years day and haven't looked back since!

mrsR1991 Sat 09-Feb-13 09:01:54

well my brocolli cheese craving is continuing! i made myself some yesterday and all morning i have thought of nothing else so may just have to go make some... smile yum! xx

LouiseD29 Sat 09-Feb-13 10:27:47

Heinz tomato soup!

MyNameIsLola Sat 09-Feb-13 10:36:13

First time I craved fish constantly, I'm vegetarian!

Second time was tomatoes.

Third time I didn't really have any cravings in particular.

This time is fruit, especially grapes and nectarines. At least it's healthy I guess.

SeriousStuff Sat 09-Feb-13 12:35:51

MsBluesky ...following on form my previous post, I think my body definitely needs salt! Went to a dinner party last night and on the way, had to stop for petrol. I sat in the car hoovering up a filthy packet of salt and vinegar crisps! My 'I'm going to eat so healthy' has been catapulted out the window!)

At the meal, I ate a tiny sugar flower off a cake and immediately felt sick. Saliva rushing to my mouth...so I'm definitely off sweet things of any kind!

twinklesparkles Sat 09-Feb-13 13:04:50

Everything smile

With ds, it was mcdonalds, and sweets (particularly refreshers... Multicoloured morning sickness!!)

With dd (32 weeks now) , its everything ... Just need food grin peking duck pancakes are going down particularly well at the moment .. And sweets smile

Twinklestarstwinklestars Sat 09-Feb-13 13:27:08

Mine change, although salt and vinegar crisps are a favourite.

At the moment I crave cheese and pickle sandwiches, but it has been cereal, ice lollies and haribo sweets.

Giddypants Sat 09-Feb-13 15:15:16

DS- gravey grannuals, and mustard (can't stand the stuff now)
DC 2 chilli con carne mmmmm

NAR4 Sat 09-Feb-13 20:05:06

Craved coke with my first and seriously feared I would have no teeth left by the time I had him.

I had no cravings with my second but DH seriously craved raw onions. He didn't even like onions before.

No cravings with my third but couldn't stand the smell of lamb. DH was banned from eating it throughout my pregnancy.

DC 4 and 5 I loved mashed potato.

mrsR1991 Mon 11-Feb-13 11:39:13

someone mentioned cheese and pickle sandwhiches.. i am now thinking of nothing but that and yes my brocolli cheese lol!! xx

BraveLilBear Mon 11-Feb-13 13:03:33

I'm in the extreme fad camp. Current fad is for cheese ploughmans sandwiches. Cheese salad or cheese and pickle just won't stick it for me. And cheese and onion crisps (the stronger the better) and strawberry cream pencils - those red sweets with white fondanty stuff in the middle.

Also, sparkling water or anything fizzy - still drinks, esp water, make me feel sick.

mrsR1991 Fri 15-Feb-13 12:42:31

ok so my brocolli cheese craving has now ended to be replaced by homous and cola jubbly ice lollies! not together lol! xx

FoofFighter Fri 15-Feb-13 12:58:36

Had a mini fad for guacamole the last couple days smile not got any left though boohoo so no delicousness for me today sad

fatandlumpy Sun 17-Feb-13 06:13:29

Full fat milk....

... strange as I'm lactose intolerant.

(shrugs, then farts....*)

sparkle101 Sun 17-Feb-13 08:01:35

With dd it was orange juice, pepperami and prawn cocktail crisps. Serious aversions to McDonald's, salad and a certain type of washing product which I couldn't narrow down. Dh does the washing and sometimes the smell of my newly washed clothes would make me wretch.

With this one, lemonade still for a while, now onto um bongo, and yesterday I ate 5 packets of wotsits in a row. In good news we worked out the fabric conditioner that was making me heave in both pregnancies and that has been banished to the back of the cupboard for another 6 months!

Oh and with both pregnancies it's been sweets, like penny sweet/pick and mix type things. Cue a £25 box of sweets ordering!

cupcake78 Sun 17-Feb-13 08:09:00

Big strawberry sweetsgrin. Cheese, cheese oh and more cheese please. Celery, cherry tomatoes, apples oh how I love apples!

Salty Pringles, peanut butter, lemons of any form. Did I mention apples and cheese grin

With ds it was olives, strawberries, ice and the smell of rubber.

redandyellowandpinkandgreen Sun 17-Feb-13 10:40:30

I was all about the roast beef and gravy when pregnant with DS and I was still anaemic!

Nothing so far this time.

ratbagcatbag Sun 17-Feb-13 11:02:53

First trimester - cereal, buckets of it, anything sweetened, so coco pops, frosties etc. pints and pints of crusha raspberry milkshake, monster munch and tomato soup. Fresh orange juice (like three cartons per day)

Second tri - as above with chocolate, anything chocolate.

Now (34weeks) - milkshake, ready salted crisps on slabs of thick bread and butter and more chocolate which now gives me indigestion. Orange fanta.

Went completely off dinners ad still to really loving them even now.

redredwine84 Mon 18-Feb-13 10:34:14

Haribo's (the sour ones!) mmmmm. I had the little 10p packets stuffed everywhere!

Similar to another poster I haven't had cravings as such, more foods that I want to eat loads of, get bored and then move on I something else

So far it's been, tomatoes - baby plum tomatoes, tomato juice, tomato soup. Fizzy-rot your teeth sweets. Cherry bakewells, pickled onion monster munch, Granny Smith apples, cheese scones.
At the moment I'm eating loads of pickles - chutney, gherkins, beet root and ice cream. What a cliche!!

34 weeks!

Fairlygrounded Mon 18-Feb-13 21:32:29

Sweets! Sour tangfastics, liquorice oh and mini-eggs smile

Can87 Tue 19-Feb-13 05:56:22

Mine was orange juice in the 1st/2nd trimester (I do still slightly crave this but now just gives me horrible heartburn)

And currently seems to be SS milk & bourbon biscuits, I'm getting through 4 pints of milk in less than 2days! DH isn't impressed as there's no milk left when he goes for a coffee, opsie!
Hmmm... 6 in the morning, too early for bourbons??? Xx

DanniiH Tue 19-Feb-13 10:58:36

Ds - got a massive sweet tooth (not normal for me). Needed McDonald's strawberry milk shakes a couple of times.

Current pregnancy- malt loaf. Don't fancy anything much at the moment but hoping for a random craving soon!

I knew someone who couldn't stand the colour brown in one of her pregnancies!

DaveMccave Tue 19-Feb-13 13:44:52

I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but with DD it was insane. Cravings were pineappke fritters, cream cakes and doughnuts, and Cadbury creme eggs. I had major aversion to cheese and tuna. No healthy cravings!

This time no aversions, and I'm loving mash/boiled potatoes with tinned (?!) peas and gravy, cottage pie, and fresh fruit, particularly apples and fresh orange juice ice lollies, and strawberry volvic water. Very different.
