Travel and morning sickness

I have strong morning sickness. Throw up every other day and nauseous for hours each day. Am coming up to nine weeks.

I also have a holiday booked in Italy when I'm 11 weeks and a long train journey to get there (3 hours plus 12 hours). Once we're there I should be able to take it very easy.

Just wondered whether any of you had done such a trip? Tips welcome!

ooh dear! I don't envy you doing that with morning sickness. I haven't done it myself but I suppose the best way to get through it would be to sleep for as much of the journey as possible. Take an eye mask to shut out bright light.

I tried travel wrist bands for my morning sickness but didn't feel they worked. I also tried ginger and again, it didn't work for me.

Ice lollies can help a bit.

Good luck!

Have you tried travelling at all yet? I found that although some things in a car/train did make me feel worse, the travelling didn't really affect the pregnancy sickness nearly as much as I thought it would - I felt just as crap whether I was travelling or not most days!

Have you got a bed booked for the 12 hour trip? The one thing that always made me sicker (and still makes me sick now at 17 weeks) was/is getting overtired.

@daisystone thanks for the tips and sympathy.

@japhrimel thanks too. Reassuring to hear it doesn't make the morning sickness worse! we do have beds booked. Will be in a cabin with dh so intend to bagsy the bottom bunk. Very true about the sleep. If I don't head to bed around nine I end up feeling sick all night.
