Hi, wonder if any of you can offer me any advice as i have been unable to get through to anyone at the midwife unit to speak to for the last two days. My 4yo son has chicken pox and i am 22 weeks pregnant. Is my baby at risk? I have previously had chicken pox and am assuming i cannot get it again but am no sure if there is any risk to baby or not. Any advice welcome and appreciated xxx

I think you are safe if you had the chicken pox in the past. Here is a link to an article on the subject. Good luck

you and the baby will be fine, My DD had chicken pox 3 weeks ago and I was 20 weeks then. Because I had it as a child I have immunity and therefore so does the baby until it is born as it cannot catch it from you if you can't catch it if you see what I mean.
You have my sympathy though a child with chicken pox when you are pregnant is the last stress you need

You should call your GP - some prefer to test your immunity to make sure you are still immune.

incidently there was no question of testing me from either my GP, midwife or consultant they all said that if I had it as a child then there was no risk

Piriton might help his itching. It was recomended by the pharmacist and helped my DS.
At 22 weeks even if you did get chicken pox it should all be fine.
