Pregnancy

11 Weeks & have a bump... Surely not?

Hi,

I'm 11+4 and have a family wedding to attend tomorrow, I already had a dress in mind but last night when I tried it on I noticed a obvious pot belly.

Asked DH for his opinion and he said he'd noticed last week, but didn't want to say anything until I noticed myself (helpful of him).

Wider family doesn't know about the pregnancy (which is my 1st) and I don't want to blab until my scan next week. So that's my slinky dress out of the window...

My Mum says that she didn't start to show until the 4th month and that having a bump this early with your 1st is quite unusual.

Did anyone else here get a bump this early on?
I'm fairly slim but not exactly Kate Moss so It's not because I'm really underweight or anything.

The bump would show very low down at first but maybe as you're slim, it's more obvious earlier. If you think the bump is oin the middle to higher tummy, then it's probably because of more water in your body and not the actual baby bump. Usually for 2nd pregs you show sooner as the muscles have already been stretched before. Tyring to think back 9 years to when I was pregnant with DD 1. I guess I first started showing properly (where peole weren't just wondering if I had put on weight!) at about 14 weeks.

For the wedding, if you still want to cover up the pregnancy, you could tie a pashmina around and ruch it on the side to cover.

I have a bump (10+5), none of my clothes fit, in light summer dresses whatever the weather. Wearing the same 3 things to work everyday. Although this could also be my huge bloating... I like to tell myself its a little bump to make myself feel better!

Funny my mum also said she didn't show for months, maybe clothes were less well fitting when they were pregnant...?

i had this when i was pregnant, by about 12 weeks i had a "bump" the thing is you actually get really bloated at the first stage of pregnancy, and all the changes going on your body does make you seem a little puffier so to speak, i didnt actually start showing preoperly till i was about 7 months!
if you can suck it in, i would probably say its just the bloating, but with a bump, theres no sucking it in lol,

then again before i was pregnant i weighed just a little over 7 stone, and i am really small, so you could notice quickly if your quite tiny yourself? but my obvious solid bump wasnt till about 7 months xx

Hi CTJ82, I had a small bump at around 10 weeks and this is my first. Not sure if it was because I was bloated or if it was a proper bump but you could definitely see a difference in my body. Everyone is different. I am now 20+4 weeks and have quite a large bump but my friend who is 18 weeks does not show at all and is still wearing her normal clothes.

Try to wear something that is not tight for the wedding, maybe a Maxi Dress?

Congrats on your pregnancy.

Hi All,

Thanks for your messages - at least I'm not alone!

It could be bloating, or it could be the actual bump - whatever the case I don't need that much of an excuse to go clothes shopping (wahey).

I looked obviously pregnant at 8 weeks. We never got to annouce the pregnancy as the bump did it for us.

It was my first and it was so obvious at the booking appointment that the midwife thought it might be twins.

Wasn't twins or anything unusual. Just 1 normal baby.

Still no idea why I showed so early.

Would worry about it at all. Just go and by some maternity clothes.

I am 12 weeks and thought it was unusual as I feel like I am showing, I have always been slim but like you my mum didn't show for 4 months either which is sickening as I look more like I've eaten too many pies at the mo.
I've pressed it and it feels like a bump and even tho my boobs and belly are looking bigger I've lost weight!

Me too. I'm 12 weeks. I've lost a little weight and have bigger boobs and tummy. I used to have a flat tummy (not because I am slim, but because it all goes on my bum usually), but have had a bump which I can't suck in for about 2-3 weeks now. I think if there wasnt much fat there in the first place then maybe it shows more easily. I find that no-one notices as long as I wear things that arent too tight at the front. What about an empire line dress?
