Now...I only found out I was pregnant at 22ish weeks - am now 25ish weeks. And don't get me wrong - I've seen him on the scan, heard his heartbeat and I can feel him moving now all the time - but OMG!!! Theres a baby in my tummy and I just can't quite get my head around that! As well as the fact that he has got to come out!

Is this a common thing? So happy to be pregnant. I am a 1st time mum.

hi! i'm first time too and 20wks, (still haven't felt any movement though [sad) but I know what you mean! I'll have moments when I'll take stock and think 'there's a person in there' but otherwise its a bit surreal. and we found out (it was planned) at 5 wks! so you're not alone!

Thats totally normal i think, don't worry about it. I'm 35 weeks and feel the same way.

I think its just to wierd an idea to get your head round to be honest. Don't worry, just enjoy it! And congratulations!

Am 24 weeks with my first and have been feeling movement since 19 weeks. But despite this and the scans I can't get my head round the fact that there's a baby in there either! To be honest, it's better if I don't think about it too much cos the thought of there being another human being growing inside me makes me feel a bit peculiar and queasy. Don't get me wrong - I am delighted to be pregnant . It's just all a bit odd....
Congratulations!!

It is very odd isn't it? There's a little person inside me... bizarre.

I didn't believe it til I saw it with my first.

There's another one in there now, still don't quite believe it either, even though last time it did turn out to be a real live baby and all.

i don't think you will ever get used to the idea. i'm on my 3rd and even when you are in the delivery suite and they bring in the little cot on wheels it still doesn't seem real.

Didn't find out what sex it is either, DH and I find it weird that it's in there, and it has a sex, but we don't know what sex it is.....we call it Schroedingers baby.....

I think this is normal with your first as you have no idea what it's like to give birth to your very own real live baby. It's all a far-away concept, not quite real but 2nd time around (as is my case) it all feels all the more real as you now what to expect and what you are getting and actually I am even more excited than I was first time around as I know the love this little person will bring and as it's not a venture into the unknown I am enjoying the pregnancy more.

Can I just ask, how did you get to 22 weeks and not realise you were pregnant? I thought it was an urban myth!

I remember being showed DS moments after his born and i thought "he is mine; really mine" and that still felt odd. Infact calling myself a mum after he was born took some getting used to as well.

P S Congrats and good luck to everyone

I'm on number 3 and I still think I'm going to go to my 20 week scan next week and be told (in spite of the previous scan, blood tests, very wriggly movements) to bugger off home as I'm imagining things.

I am 30 weeks pregnant with DC3 and finally get it this time around. There is actually a baby in there - it looks like a fully grown baby (but skinny right now) as in it has ears and a nose and legs.

It actually makes pregnancy a lot more positive I think - I am less in a rush for them to be here, more accepting of the negative side effects.

I remember feeling completely stunned when DS was born that a baby had come out - no idea what I thought was in there. I hadnt really got past being pregnant - no one had told me I was having a baby!

I'm 34 weeks, I've had 3 4D scans now (on top of 12 & 20 week scans), I can see my baby's feet sticking out of my abdomen and I've got photos of him all over my living room.

I still don't believe it!

I'm finding the idea thats its got to come out a bit strange too. As in, there's going to be a head in my fanjo. I've seen pictures in preg books etc of the birth, where the babies head is sticking out - too, too wierd.
