i wasnt very concerrned untill someone on here said i should be, so just wondering what you all think.

i'm 18+2 weks, i've had headaches and nosebleedes all throuhg out my pregnancy so far but this morning woke up with a nose bleed at 6.30 which was very heavy and has only just stopped i've also had a headache during this time, well since last night really, if you can even call it a headache it feels more like my head is in one of thoes bands that take your blood pressure that gets tighter and tighter so not a headache as such more like lots and lots of pressure on my head.

should i be worried? i thought all of this was normal?

go to the GP anyway. If you weren't pregnant you should go for those symptoms so the fact that you're pregnant, would make me go even the more so.
I don't understand why people don't go to the GP to make sure. I think in the last edcade people have become accustomed to feeling guilty for taking up GP's time but espeically as you're pregnant, you shouldn't hesitate to get checked out. Lots of nose bleeds could mean low blood pressure and that's a worry for the hospital when you give birth as they don't want you to lose lost of blood during/following birth.

thanks lucie, i phoned my midwife who said it was all normal pg related stuff and not to worry. and that only headaches past 20 weeks are a sign of high blood pressure and only nosebleeds in late pregnancy are a sign of low blood pressure. so my mind is now at rest!

Please go and see your GP. Midwives know lots about pregnancy and very little about illnesses outside of pregnancy. My midwife is fab but I would definately see a doc about this.
It may well just be pregnancy related but headaches like that can be related to other problems and it would be safest to get yourself checked over by a doctor.

That's very true - a midwife is not a doctor and you could have very similar symptoms to a pregnancy related illness but actually might not be at all.

Magnum is right - what's one trip to the doc just to be on the safe side?

I had lots of nosebleeds with my first and bad headaches (I'm a migraine suffer though) saw my gp and they said it was fine but I would still go to the gp just in case.

I've been getting nose bleeds for a few days now, came out the blue. At first I thought it was because I had a cold and was blowing too hard? but I've never had this before, I'm anemic as well, so its making me quite tired and a bit weak. My blood pressure has always been spot on though, not sure whether to ring the midwife, what do you think?

well it turns out i was really sick, so thankyou to thoes who kept saying i should get it seen to. i went to our local small hospital in the end about the headaches and nosebleeds who gave me some anti-biotics as he thought i had an infection and they would help but that night woke up with violent vomiting (which was red) and was so cold my skin was blue and freezing to touch, although it was a really hot night. dh wanted to call an ambulance but i wouldnt let him i said i was fine and that if he really needed more reassurance he could phone nhs direct, who of course told him to take me stright to a&e - in my defence i wassnt thinking stright and i was do dizzy i couldnt stand as i was just falling over.

i had the flu and a bad reaction to the anti-biotics, but left much longer it would have been very serious - aparantly the headaches and nosebleeds weere my bodyts way of telling me there was something wrong and the doc at the forst hospital should have done more tests rather than just perscribe anti-biotics
